I woke up this morning on time but as I staggered to the bathroom and took my thyroid med, I realized that I have a migraine. Spent an extra two hours in bed waiting for it to go away, and it did not. So I got up, took the OTC migraine pills, and am now starting my day, late, with the thought that maybe hot tea and breakfast will help. It would at least help me. (wry grin)
We have plans for an elaborate dinner tonight (Chinese barbecued pork ribs with fried rice and crab rangoon) and I had been hoping to make bread, but I am not going to make bread when I feel like this. I'm going to curl up with my hot tea and a book on invertebrates in the Ordovician and hope the weight on my eye goes away.7 -
Thank you for your understanding folks. It really helped to 'confess' my blip. What I was trying to do is 'walk back the cat'. That's a concept used by my favourite life coach, Martha Beck. Trace backwards to see where the slip up first started. The hope is, you will be able to catch it earlier. It's always very humbling when something like that happens.
Did my writing this morning. I was trying my best to evade it, but I know I won't be able to do anything tomorrow with seeing G, so I buckled down. Once again I was discussing my failings!!!! In the past that time. Oh well, when you know better you do better.
New frying pan arriving today. I like non-stick with a glass lid and a metal handle so I can put it under the grill or in the oven.
Having saucy mushrooms for dinner. DH with tagliatelle, me with zucchini spirals. Arugula. Yum!
Love you lots, 😍 Heather UK xxxxxx2 -
Hi All!
I have tried different groups but it seems many of the conversations are old and I get no response to my posts. Also, I don't want to join a group that requires extensive logging on a spread sheet. I use the MFP diary to log foods and exercise and try to make friends with other MFP users for support with that.
I'm 67, newly retired, live in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Last year, using NOOM I lost more than 30 lbs. I went from 187 down to 154. In November, I decided to take a break for maintenance, since that always seems to be the hard part! I gave myself a range to stay within and I have done that. I now weigh 158-159.
Now that the weather's getting warmer, I want to continue losing weight to reach a healthier BMI, 145 lbs. I need to cut back on the winter carbs, up the fruits and vegetables, and take some hikes and long bicycle rides. I do live on a small farm so there's no end to gardening and other calorie-burning work.
I admit I've only skimmed over the posts on here. You seem to have become friendly with each other. Do you have a way of checking in with other when it comes to nutrition, exercise, etc.?
Thanks so much!

Machka, congrats on the grand baby!
Katla, so glad your daughter is coming to help out.
OMGosh Karen all I can think of is "PINK... is my SIGNATURE culoh" (head flip) They look AMAZING!
WOOHOO Charlene!!! WTG!
I'm so sorry Alexandra. Relax and try to sleep and get better.
Hi Luanne! This group is great. This thread is great. Come awhile, come every day, hang around, post, don't post, it's all good here! I'm sure, if you mention your location, you could find someone relatively close by (or not) who'd be willing to be your body-buddy. Sorry, not me. I'm just here for the food tracker and minimal walking/body groove. I won't be much help, I'm afraid.

Morning ladies
Sitting in the car with Miles waiting while Tracy is returning something in the store here is hoping he doesn't wake up..
Kyle did go up last to see Carmine and bring the guitar back up and i think they talked.. and gave each other a hug.. and Tracy went up afterwards and asked if they were hungry and they said yes so Tracy made something and had Carmine come down and sit with her dad on the couch and eat.. its a start.
I went down and got Homer out this morning.. and stayed with him for a bit..going to spend time with him while I can.. he was one of my babies before Alfie..5 -

Sorry, not sure how to use the BBC code. Or tagging!
Thanks for your welcoming response, Carla. I do have some walking and cycling friends. We text each other regularly for meetups. That helps all of us a lot!
I'll keep reading and posting here and getting to know you!

I did my 8 min of elliptical, 6 min marching, and 58 minutes yoga. Yay!
Hi Luanne!
Annie in Delaware3 -
I’m just hanging in there. Starting my no drinking rule for myself. That alone will help me lose.
They keep changing the date for my video call with DS. Now it’s around 5 pm Friday.
Today I drive an hour away for my mamo. Missed it last year and the hospital near by has a broken machine. So traveling all day.
Stayed under calories yesterday and trying for another good day. One day at a time. Back to low carb high fat. This works for me. Alcohol is a carb so good riddance!
RvRita6 -
We have had a weird orange coloured sky all day. Apparently it's sand from the Sahara. Quite spooky.
The car will probably need a wash when it's gone!
The frying pan I ordered is lovely but I could also do with a smaller size. I knew it was bigger than my old one, but it is just a bit large for some things. I will look for another one as well. Will be great for pancakes though! Can chuck out one of my others.
DH had ordered new slippers, as his old ones were shedding wool everywhere. They were too small when they arrived. I told him to send them back. Then he discovered the toes had tissue paper balls in them !!!!
I'm getting better at 'One out One in'. Threw away some leggings the other day when I got new ones. The old ones had sprung a hole in the knee, which I had had a go at mending, but it reappeared. Out they have gone.

Hey ladies, just checking in. So sorry Allie, your sweet family is really having some serious issues. Effective communication isn't easy sometimes, but poor Kyle needs to learn some I'm afraid. To sit and listen to what Carmine is trying to say. Then bounce back what he's hearing by saying things like, "so what I am hearing is .......". Carmine can say either, " no that's not what I mean, ...etc. I remember when Lee and I were having problems we learned this. It was like learning how to talk to him all over again. We spoke in polite tones, slower, with words we chose carefully. I think that helped us re connect. We'd drive to the Hammond Marina, and park, looking out at the water. Where we put our problems out on the table. I think writing down our grievances helped. One exercise was writing all my terrible feelings and I gave it to my therapist and she shredded it. They had no hold on me. Maybe Carmine could do that? All their unspeakable feelings on paper, you have a place to PUT the anger. Then either shred or burn it. Those feelings have no hold on them. Hugs friend!

Gals,
I'm reading but haven't been posting. I'm in between my cataract surgeries and having trouble focusing and using my eyes.
Barbie and Katla thinking about your health concerns for your DHs... and wishing them and you well... and to all the others needing good wishes, too.
Spring is showing and weather is warmer.... I'll keep up and will post soon.
Betsy in NW WA6 -
Betsy - glad you checked in, hope the focus issue is short-lived, it must be frustrating. Spring is here too, and I guess it's time to bite the bullet and prune the roses. Christmas before last, my daughter bought me long-sleeved leather gloves for just exactly that thing - they cover nearly to my elbows, and help diminish the damages from the thorns!
RVRita - Just one more reason not to drink, as it puts weight on. I don't have the need for alcohol, but that's just because I can't handle the taste unless it's mixed in some foo-foo drink with high-calorie sweetness, like a pina colada or daiquiri. Those are also ways to gain weight fast. So I don't drink them. That's not me being all virtuous or holier than anyone--I'm definitely not. I never had the craving for alcohol and am happier when I don't drink. Plus the world is hard enough already, making it fuzzy just makes it worse.
Hi @Luannelizabeth - if you want to answer someone's specific question, you can simply use the clickable "quote selection at the bottom of their message. Their message, in its entirety, will be copied to your own answer box so you can respond to it directly. In order to not have your response show up inside the gray box, you have to make sure your typing goes after the [ /quote ] at the end of their message. All this is on a computer, by the way, I don't use my phone to post here.
To get someone's attention, you put an @ sign before typing their username, and they should get a form message saying someone's entered their name on the thread.
For everyone who is new, please know that, for many of us, the vast majority of our interaction on MFP is limited to this thread. This may mean that a request to be a friend will be turned down. We love to see you here, and please don't try to answer every one! It can be exhausting and just another stressor, which is not why any of us are here.
So, I shuffled a few papers around and made the phone calls that needed making.- Called the gastroenterologist in order to see whether the Humira is in the works or not. I called two weeks ago and was told it would be a week before the nurse would call me. I really wish people wouldn't promise what they can't deliver. Now the nurse is supposed to call me this evening. I will not be holding my breath.
- Called Social Security because there's been a mix-up with something on one of my forms that was inserted on their end. This is the fourth day in a row I've called the same person and left my details on her answering machine. Hope the squeaky wheel (me) will get some response. Not holding my breath for that one, either.
- And... I called the VA because they still have my previous married name in their benefits records for me - because the minor benefit I receive for a blown knee while in the military is apparently completely separate from my information with the VA healthcare system, which has my correct name. That was an hour on the phone with their national benefits hotline, and I had to upload my marriage certificate, current VA card, current driver's license and my passport to prove my name change. Such a byzantine system.
Much like hitting myself on the head with a hammer, because it always feels good when I stop.
A corn dog for lunch is improving my current outlook on everything, though.
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa5 -
Getting close to my 10 year logging streak! Wowzers7

I just feel beat.
Better in the CICO area today than yesterday so far.
Wishing you a good end of the day, evening..etc.

Allie--Sorry the news for Homer was not good. Our pug Jake is doing so so. The days it was cold he was running around like a puppy. Now that it is warming up he is not moving well and falling over a lot. The vet says long as he is eating and going to the bathroom and not in pain to keep going. He gets meds everyday and some CBD when he gets anxious sometimes when the sun goes down.
Katla--Glad to hear your DD is coming to help and that DH has an appointment today.
Michele--Seems your time down there went by so fast.
Julie--Sending prayers and hugs.
Welcome to the new ladies. This is a great place for friendship and support.
They have been my office and dept most the afternoon taking pictures and measurments for the remodel. I am looking forward to having it done, but because of the alarms and phones they have to work around us.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE2 -

Welcome to the group, Charlene.
I agree with your sentiments. Tracking is so useful because it gives so much information to help change your habits. Daily weighing is also useful provided that you realise that weight constantly fluctuates. Looking at the trends is definitely the way to go.
Since reaching maintenance I have found tracking and weighing helps me to relax, because I know exactly what’s going on, and can take remedial action if necessary.
@Luannelizabeth
Welcome, Luanne. You won’t have a problem with this group. We are very much active daily, and love new people joining. Well done on maintaining. I did a similar thing a few years ago, but found that the weight went on dropping slowly. event hit my UGW, and have stayed slightly under that for a while now.Do you have a way of checking in with other when it comes to nutrition, exercise, etc.?

Zwift stats- 14.17min, 100elev, 85aw, 62arpm, 16.98amph, 4.04mi= 70c
Total cal 464. Longest walk yet. The plan is to do 5 miles on Friday4 -
Luanne yes it is pretty much marching in place. I have a kettlebell on the floor, and I touch my toes to the handle with each step. That ensures I don't get lazy about lifting my knees. And the music keeps me from getting lazy about tempo.
I do all my exercise indoors. At home, I like the even temperature, the carpeted floor, and the bathroom proximity, although that's just me being prepared just in case. Even the horseback riding I do is inside a big covered arena!
On a beautiful spring day like today, it would be nice to be outdoors, but my allergies are tickled even inside the house. Everybody has limits to work around.

VICKIE thanks for your kind thoughts.
Had a few glasses of store bought carrot juice this evening. as many calories as halotop but must be healthier!1 -
🙄 Holy Moly!!! MFP decided to stop recognising me in the middle of editing my last post!!! I had to sign in again.
‘Watching’ TV after dinner. I have had a very relaxed day. Tomorrow I will revise my Latin for Friday morning study group. I’m so rusty after being unable to go the last 2 years.
I started a watercolour at Monday Painters this week, and will finish it next Monday.
WTH!!! Drat!!! MFP wouldn’t upload the photo.
Lisa: Bureaucracy grinds exceedingly slow!!!
Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday

I only ate 1/2 and brought the rest home.. had the door open this afternoon so crazy dog could go in and out.. we had gone about a mile down the road and i couldnt find my phone we turned around i looked in the parking lot and then went into Sams and some honest person brought it to the courtesy desk..4

Haha! I found weighing in every day and tracking intake to be incredibly helpful. I probably would have continued to lose, but for learning to bake sourdough bread. I love it but cannot have fresh bread in the house all the time, I've discovered. I feel like it could have been a lot worse.
Anyhow, now that it's spring, it's time to continue losing down to UGW.

Lisa-glad you are able to sleep. Very glad you got things straightened out with VA. I currently am on a task for for streaming government and increasing efficiencies. Major topic-share information between groups so people don't veto jump through unnecessary hoops.
Allie-glad to hear things settled a bit. Curious if they got Carmine into any therapy while starting transition process? It is my understanding (especially if they are looking at surgical modifications) that it is required. I think as a parent I could use help adjusting. Nice to know someone was honest enough to urn in your phone.
Julie-do hope your mood improves.
Terri-technology is great until t isn't!
Got through to podiatrist today-have an appointment for Friday morning. I remember my mom always having pain with her feet, but she worked on them for years (restaurant work). I'm hoping I can get orthotics or some other non-invasive means of providing relief (other than not walking.) Need to fill out paperwork to submit through their portal.
Welcome to the new ladies.
