Pip: Hooray!
I’m slowly letting go of family ‘heirlooms’.
Clearing space is liberating.
Cheers and (((hugs))) in equal measures.

Pip- Yipeee im so happy for you!!! Take it easy and dont rush into things..
Tracy,Carmine and I all went and got our hair done today feel better and got my new phone set up...6 -
I've never done this, measure myself, in the beginning. This time I'm doing things differently!4

Pip ! Such good news! I refreshed my MFP so many times today waiting to hear your news.....
Rest in Peace Madeleine Albright

Pip, I'm doing the happy dance for you too!
Katla, glad to hear that your daughter is there to make sure you get looked after too. Hope you all got some answers about hubby.
Allie, happy to hear that Carmine seems to be settling down, hope that continues! Sorry to hear about Miles and his colic, my first one was like that, had a really cranky time for a few hours every night, but it didn't last (thank heavens!). You have definitely gotten some good advice from others here, hopefully something will work. My only suggestion would be to remind you that what worked yesterday might not work today, but what didn't work yesterday might work today! Babies are complicated creatures, I guess that's why they come out so cute! lol
Lisa, sorry to hear that you are feeling loopy, do hope it goes away soon! Kelsey's soon to be ex is sure a piece of work, hope she has a good lawyer!
Machka, love the dry stream! I've seen stuff like that before, didn't know what it was called, but it really is pleasing to the eye.
Heather, sorry to hear that you have ill family members, hope they are better soon.
Beth, sorry to hear about your mom's trials and tribulations!
Lots of others I wanted to comment on, but my memory is failing me once again! I'm at work so have to make this short anyway, so I guess it's just as well! lol
As always, congrats to those celebrating, hugs for those needing them and welcome to the newbies!

Pip—❤️. I am happy that you have good news. Your update is great. It is wonderful that there were no signs of cancer. ❤️1

Worked today. Tomorrow I’m going to TRY to get to the gym and do a body pump DVD.
Later today I have an appt with a physicians assistant for the pain in my leg. More and more I’m convinced it’s sciatica. The pain starts in my backside and radiates down the leg. I’ve been using the voltaran. It just gets me from excruciating pain to pain. I know when I had sciatica on the other side I was convinced I needed hip replacement, but the MD just prescribed prednisone for me and inside of 3 days I was getting relief. Hopefully, this PA will do the same. Next I would probably try Aleve, but I think this is probably the faster route.
Beth – how wonderful you’re progressing so much. Sorry to hear about your mother.
Today Jerry got some sort of pin from BK. I think he needs something like that. See, I don’t need so much a visual but I think he does. I just said to him “that’s wonderful. See, all your hard work has paid off”. He did refer to me when I took him home today as his friend. He told me how he tries to help out his friends.
FINALLY replaced my windshield yesterday. Fortunately, it rained today so I could easily tell if it was leaking or not.
Stopped at Food Lion yesterday on my way home from work. Got Vince gatorade and they had cabbage on sale for 59 cents/pound so I got 2 heads. I’ll probably make some soup with at least one head, I’m going to try to look for ideas for the other head. Also got Easter cards at the dollar store for Jess and Denise. Got one down in FL for PJ, cost me all of 12 cents. Like he’s going to know! If you buy 2 things of Gatorade, you get $2 off. So even tho FL is usually more expensive, with the $2 off it's worth it
Allie – none of my kids had colic, but I’ve always heard that if you put a colicky baby in a car and drive around the block, that puts it to sleep. Loved KJ’s hints. Never thought of the washer, but that makes sense.
Tracey – I hope you get the pictures. Pictures mean so much
M – that apple pie loos just delish. I can just taste it here
Lucy – welcome! You don’t HAVE to give your location, it’s just that if we have a few people with the same name, it helps to keep people straight. But I don’t think we have another Lucy so you’re OK.
Nanacutler – Love the elk. What a wonderful thing to see in the morning
Julie – yea for negative tests!
I’m someone who likes to clean things out and if I don’t use them or haven’t used them in a while, I’d donate or somehow get rid of it. Now Vince – he saves just about anything “in case”
When Covid hit, I cleaned EVERYTHING. I even cleaned the top of my freezer!!! Much to Vince’s dismay, I pulled everything out of the closets and went thru so much. I had so much to recycle, that I had to take it to the recycling place, too much for our recycling bin!
Rori – good to hear from you. You get to see a lot of interesting plays. So happy for you
pip and katla – you are both in my thoughts

Thank you! @exermom

Just popping in from phone to get updates from pip Michele and Katla .
Pip doing happy dance for the good news and hope the pain eases soon.
Karen oh my very dear God! Thankful he’s in a different and better group home now. His artistic talent makes his depression/confusion all the more heartbreaking.
May fill in more later if I get on the pc.
Lighter lovelies !

Went to the MD, told the PA that I was 99.9% sure it was sciatica and she agreed and prescribed prednisone for me, which is what I expected. Took my first dose today. To me, it is starting to feel better. But is this psychological? Who knows?
Had the last Newcomer bowling for the season. For some reason, nothing I did helped. I was lucky to break 50. I tried EVERYTHING, moving, etc. But nothing seemed to help. I was definitely the gutter ball queen
Yippee pip!!!!!!!!
Karen VA – Vince’s mother has this really nice sewing cabinet. Unfortunately, we can’t figure out how to wind the bobbin and my sewing machine won’t go in the cabinet. I’m afraid we’re going to have to donate it. I do have my grandmother’s pedal sewing machine. I remember as a kid pumping that pedal. Good memories. Is it ever heavy! So glad you had such a wonderful experience giving your mother’s sewing machine away. Knowing that it’s being used in such a wonderful way makes giving it away so much less painful. Your brother’s art is truly awesome
Lucy – Rebecca ALWAYS posts pics of her wonderful meals. Honestly, sometimes I just have to skip them – they make me so hungry...lol
Guess that’s about it for now. Nite everyone

What is a dry stream?
It's a "riverbed" with no water. See image.
Yep!Machka, love the dry stream! I've seen stuff like that before, didn't know what it was called, but it really is pleasing to the eye.

My dry stream plan ...
Here's what I've got ... or had last spring ...
What I'm trying to create is something along these lines ...
I am finding that this garden work is similar to the Pilates classes we were taking for some time. I'm feeling the muscle pain in similar areas!! Shoulders, hips, hamstrings, glutes. Who would have thought that gardening would be a workout!!
Machka in Oz
I've got nearly all the supplies and I've got a 3-day weekend ahead, so I'll see how much progress I make. It might be a bit of experimentation since I've never done this before.
The plan is that it will be dry most of the time, but I am thinking of setting it up so that if it rains, it may become a real stream.

Terri Richardson— Slowly letting go of heirlooms is not easy. I have been unable to let go of three heirlooms that were my moms. Her piano was a fixture in our house and playing it gave her pleasure. I am not skilled. Mom also left me a beautiful hand carved wooden trunk. The third gift is a hand made grandmother clock. Her sister bought it for her someplace along the southern Oregon Coast. It is made from Oregon Myrtle wood. Clearly I am not good at giving away those treasures. I will someday pass them along to my adult kids. ❤️2

Debbie - my daughters asthma was like yours when she was young. Warm showers and baths helped her more than cold air.
Machka - I reluctantly do have one flower bed and we have several potted plants each summer. I participate under duress.
Barbara - hope the remedy helps and that you get a MRI appointment soon.
Margaret - “I am learning the mood in which we prepare our food has an effect on our own health”.
So I bet annoyance, weariness, anger because I’m cooking is not a good reaction health wise. If I could give one job away, but still have them cook like I do that would be the one I gave.
The only other one that would be a second, but not a close one, is cleaning the tub.
Carla - my daughter says they are both doing ok. There hasn’t been a service or anything yet so it may not have hit them.
Did you get some rest after the Grands went home? I find mine tire me out more when I have both of them together.
Nanacutler - love your photos
My husband uses different seeds and has used chia seeds in his protein drinks. He hasn’t mentioned the taste but I’m sure if he didn’t like it I would be told not to buy again.
Tina - my exercise therapist has been leading me along as I slowly heal. She is very adamant that if it hurts at all I am to stop. The other thing I’m restricted on is to do weights or resistance bands one or the other every other day and never two days in a row. Although I am not 100% I am much better than I was a couple of months ago.
Heather - what a beautiful conversation between Edie and Johnny.
I am using writing and taking a picture to get rid of some items. I’m not quite ready yet. I have actually started to redecorate using a lot of the antique items I have.
Vicki - I think my next ones will be white as well.
Lisa - thank you for the jelly roll lesson. I have a lot of quilters that talk about it but don’t describe it.
Karen - I remember when you gave the sewing machine table to the young lady.
Happy to read your brother is on the mend.
Nanacutler - I have my parents, grandparents and great grandparents things.
Most of it I love. I have already purged twice though.
Pip - Such great news. I bet you feel 10lbs lighter with the happy news.
Katla - I hope you and DH were able to get some answers today.
I’ve been reading and making notes for a couple days now. I’ve been very tired.
We are so close to the finish line in getting the payroll system ready for the staff to use fully. I am ready for it. We started working on this project last February.
We have seen a flock of geese each of the last three days. Tonight I can here the shots from the airport. They will go for the next month or so every 20 minutes or so, about a dozen shots. It is so the geese don’t try to build a nest on the airport property. The Canadian Goose is protected so if they nest it is illegal touch the nest. You have to wait for the goslings to be born and for them to leave the nest which is quite a few weeks. As we all know geese and airplanes are poor neighbours.
I had a sleepless night last night, it makes for such a long work day. I finished my book between 3 and 530.
My brother turned 50 last month and over the last two years he has gone back to school to be a diesel mechanic. He posted his final mark for block 4 yesterday, 89%. I’m so proud of him.
It snowed on Sunday and was +14 Celsius today.

Tracey, happy to hear that the payroll system is almost ready to go! Crazy how it's taken over a year to get to that point!
Karen, your brother's art is.... I have no words to describe how lovely it is!
Rita, happy that your son was not only willing to talk to you this week, but wants to again next! I hope all goes well for him (and you, of course!)
My hubby has been having trouble with his hands, they are numb in parts and swollen and they hurt. They also tingle a lot, like the circulation has been cut off and finally restored, he finds it very draining, as I'm sure I would also. Anyway, he finally managed to get an in person appt with our GP, he asked me to drive (a surprise in itself!) as he didn't feel comfortable as his hands were sore. We get to the office, I can't go in, but had an errand to quickly run at a place nearby. Drop him off, run the errand, go back and then the text messages start..... Seems the office had no record of an appt for him! Don't know what happened there, because in order to make an in person appt, you must call the office and actually speak to a person. Fortunately GP agreed to see him but that he would have to wait a few minutes, hubby texted "I don't know what their few minutes is like, but if I'm not out of here soon, I'm walking" meaning he would leave the office. I texted back that there was no way that was happening as this business has gone on too long already! Anyway, he did see the doc, and now has a script for an anti inflammatory, x-rays were ordered and doc is putting in a referral to a place where they check nerve functions. X-ray was just walk in, no appt necessary, so we stopped there on the way home, he was in and out in about 10 min! Now we just have to wait for the nerve thing..... We are all hoping for carpal tunnel, but it could be something to do with the nerves in his neck (hence the cervical x-ray) or it could even be something to do with his L5 vertabrae, he had a herniated disc there and has permanent nerve damage in his leg and to find out now that it could be affecting his hands too is beyond frustrating! Oh well, we will just have to wait and see..... Unfortunately, with our overworked and understaffed medical system here, wait is the operative word.
I am still working on the resin casting, I will take photos soon and post them, some of it is turning out really well! There are some experiments too..... lol, but all in all, I'm happy with the direction it's all going!
Hugs for those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!

Karen - I knew there was something I'd forgotten to comment on. Your brother's art is incredible. I am having a hard time putting it in words, but it reminds me of how I feel when the wind gently moves me in the same direction I'm walking, with a beautiful scene in front of me. His subjects are both active and serene, and his sense of motion and movement is absolutely stunning. So pleased his medical woes are finally resolving, for both of you.
Lisa in AR1 -
I have been reading and taking notes but not capturing everything.
Barbara Southern Oregon-I do a couple of IT band stretches depending on my mood.“Iliotibial band stretch: Standing, cross your uninjured leg in front of your injured leg and bend down and touch your toes. You can move your bands across the floor toward the uninjured side and you will feel more of a stretch on the outside of your injured leg. Hold this position for 30 seconds. Return to starting position. Repeat three times.” (Sports Medicine Patient Advisor)
“Supine ITB Stretch with Strap: Begin by lying on your back with your legs straight and a strap secured around one foot, holding the end in you opposite hand. Pull the strap to draw your leg diagonally across your body and hold, feeling a stretch on the outside of your leg. Make sure to keep shoulders and hips on the ground during the stretch.” (Medbridge) I do three sets of 30 seconds each leg
Rita-glad visit with son went well. Sounds like he may be receiving help.
Julie-exposures are scary. Hoping for negative!
Machka-gardening can indeed be a workout. Your yard looks beautiful.
Lisa-some of us may not show the Mama Tiger often-but it is there!
Emergency Info-my MIL used the freezer bottle (vial of life). They had residents at her senior’s complex put them there and a sign on door of freezer indicating they have them. I keep medical record up to date on iphone. When you hit emergency on lock screen, they can access that part of phone without a pass code.
Pip-while I was thinking your logging streak is awesome-your report from the doctor is outstanding! Congratulations!
Evelyn-I had the hand numbness, etc., from herniated cervical discs. Surgical fusion helped. Now 25 years later some return (repairs only last so long!)
Weather here keeps flirting with spring-will be colder this weekend. A couple of stressful issues at work. Otherwise, life rolls on.
Prayers/positive thoughts for all who need them.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

My brother's wife is quite poorly with covid. She is 53 or 54 I think. All previously vaxxed and boosted. Has a terrible headache. My brother doesn't have a headache, but has a very sore throat.
For all of you armchair travellers, (KJ? et al), I found this on Instagram this morning, posted by the wonderful Rowan Mangan.
'Our' ship is currently in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, having left Tunis, (where I had booked a trip to Carthage), and on its way to Cartagena in southern Spain. I'm enjoying my vicarious cruise.

Hello, all! Just found this thread & thought I’d hop in 🥰 You all seem so kind & supportive of one another. I’m about to turn 65 and was a longtime SparkPeople member (as Tomsgal85). This thread reminds me of Spark’s Community Forum. I’m a reader and a lurker most of the time, unless I need prayer, which is often! ☺️
Have a blessed day, one & all ☀️❤️

At the start of the pandemic, my darling husband bought a bread machine, several cookbooks, and all sorts of ingredients for making bread. It was a consuming hobby for him. At first he wanted to make bread with lower sodium for himself, then branched out to making interesting darker bread that I would like. I am powerless over good bread and ate far more than I needed as well as sharing with my two walking friends. The kitchen cupboards had to be rearranged to accommodate all his "stuff". About a year ago he stopped making bread abruptly even though he had said he'd make bread for my birthday. We talked about it and he said he'd lost interest in making bread and just didn't feel like doing it any more. Yesterday he completed clearing out all the bread making ingredients, the books, and the bread machine and gave them to a friend who was delighted and said that she had been looking at bread machines online and had really wanted one. What a happy ending. And now I have more space in my kitchen cupboards.

I have the house to myself again, so I have been just pleasing myself. I think I might actually go and do a little bit of shopping.
Michele: It doesn’t really matter if it’s psychological so long as it’s working. 😂 I would accept it either way.
Tracey: Most of the Canada geese have left here to fly back to your neck of the woods. We have quite a lot that overwinter in Strangford Lough about 6 miles from us.
@susanshaughnessy80 Hi , Susan
Welcome to the group. Jump right in if and when the spirit moves you.
Barbie: I can understand his change of heart. I often go through phases of doing things like making bread, and then fall out of love with the idea.
We are having a lovely settled spell of weather. It’s so nice to be able to get out and wander round the garden and do a little bit of this and that. Our clocks change this weekend coming, so we will have much more daylight in the mornings.

BARBIE ~ How great that your husband realized he was no longer interested in bread making and was willing to get rid of his equipment, etc. My husband has replaced his love of buying antiques with buying "survival" equipment. He can no longer go to estate sales and antique malls because of his bad knees and feet. He watches all the Youtube segments on survival. He has bought loads of ingredients to put through his Food Saver and things like 3 or 4 stoves that use butane gas plus candles, flash lights, etc. We have lots of canned goods and other supplies on shelves in the basement. Many would see this as a very good thing, but, it can become obsessive. I am trying very hard to keep my mouth shut and just let him indulge.

Mom (in heaven) gives me permission to get rid of ANYTHING.
Karen in Virginia, thrilled for PIP
My problem is that my parents were both children of deprivation growing up and they are/were semi high end hoarders. They dont want to get rid of ANYTHING and have downsized to three storage units and my house. Its insane. They freak out if I try to sell stuff for less than what they paid for it. And donating? whoa. I hear you - its HARD!

My mom and dad were ones who would say you never know it you'll need it one day. I too strugle with this message. I make progress in fits and starts. The biggest thing is I quit going to garage sales and rarely visit a thrift store. I only go if there is something specific I am looking for. Same goes for regular shopping. I stick to my list. I steer clear of the clearance aisle too.
I too say once something is gone I no longer have to deal with that item. I still have way too much. I will clean a spot and will see that it is better. If something breaks or is worn out my first response is do I already have something I can repalce it with or can I fix it before I run out to replace it.
DH is more likely to try and sell things than I am. I either give it away, donate, or toss it.
