Debbie from Napa CA — Thanks to you DH is now wearing two bracelets and a neck chain with medical info. We found them in his closet and put them on the moment we found them. We also had a good appointment with his doctor the next day. ❤️
Karen — I have many things that were my mom’s, including her piano and grandmother clock. There is also WW-2 china sets from Japan. Someday these sets will go to my adult children. 🌹
Lisa — I am delighted with your happiness in your home. ❤️
Rita— I hope you will find a therapist who understands your challenges and can help you find inner peace & happiness. 🌸
Teklawa 1 — We are all pleased with the help from DH’s new doctor. He is a gem. DH, DD, and I were all happy with the meeting and guidance.😊
And how are you?0 -
Has anyone tried any supplements for memory or mental clarity?

Ginkgo Biloba may improve mental performance in healthy people
https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/ginkgo-biloba-benefits#TOC_TITLE_HDR_6
I used it during the first few years of my Master's degree but it interacts negatively with my anti-depression medication so when I started that, I dropped the Ginkgo Biloba.

Decluttering ...
In 2004, I sorted through everything. I sold some things, gave away other things, and packed the remaining 1/2 or so of my stuff into storage.
Then I flew to Australia with my bicycle and panniers and spent 3 months cycling around eastern Australia. When I returned, I lived in my parents' basement for 4.5 years with just a few of my things while acquiring my Bachelor of Education.
In Hobart ...
In 2009, I got everything out of storage, sold and gave away several more things and packed the remaining bits of my stuff into boxes. I was allowed 300 cubic feet - the size of a smallish bathroom - in a container.
Again, I flew to Australia with my bicycle and panniers ... and spent my first year living in Australia in a small shack off the grid. My container of stuff finally arrived in 2010.
Meanwhile, my husband had a somewhat similar experience. In 2005 he got rid of most of his stuff and spent some time (year or two) cycling the harvest trail. That's where he gained his first experience in orcharding. He had settled and had purchased a few things in preparation for me to come to Australia. Then in 2009, Australia's most catastrophic bushfire came through his area and he lost most of that.
So when we finally started living together in 2009, we didn't have much!
The only furniture items there which are ours are the metal shelf and the mirrors above the fireplace. The lights and computers are powered by a combination of generator and solar. It had rained a lot and water was seeping up through the sidewalk paver floor.
In 2012, we packed things up again, got rid of a few things, and put the rest into storage. Then we set off to cycle in various places around the world for the next 8 months.
In Japan ...
When we returned, we lived with a friend for a little while then went into a house for 6 months. We got everything out of storage, in the hopes that we might stay there, but it wasn't meant to be, so we packed everything into storage again and moved to Tasmania in 2013. But it was 2014 before we brought everything over from the mainland and settled into our current house.
So on the one hand, we don't have a lot of stuff because of all the purging, but on the other hand, we do have duplicates of some things. For now, that's OK. Neither of us has any desire to purge again in the near future.
However, I do want to scan my paper things into the computer.

Went to the MD, told the PA that I was 99.9% sure it was sciatica and she agreed and prescribed prednisone for me, which is what I expected. Took my first dose today. To me, it is starting to feel better. But is this psychological? Who knows?
Had the last Newcomer bowling for the season. For some reason, nothing I did helped. I was lucky to break 50. I tried EVERYTHING, moving, etc. But nothing seemed to help. I was definitely the gutter ball queen
Yippee pip!!!!!!!!
Karen VA – Vince’s mother has this really nice sewing cabinet. Unfortunately, we can’t figure out how to wind the bobbin and my sewing machine won’t go in the cabinet. I’m afraid we’re going to have to donate it. I do have my grandmother’s pedal sewing machine. I remember as a kid pumping that pedal. Good memories. Is it ever heavy! So glad you had such a wonderful experience giving your mother’s sewing machine away. Knowing that it’s being used in such a wonderful way makes giving it away so much less painful. Your brother’s art is truly awesome
Lucy – Rebecca ALWAYS posts pics of her wonderful meals. Honestly, sometimes I just have to skip them – they make me so hungry...lol
Guess that’s about it for now. Nite everyone
Michele NC
Michele-Have you looked on Youtube to see how to wind the bobbin? Most are pretty easy to figure out(some even show you on the machine with little arrows).
Karen- your brother's art is amazing.
Decluttering- oh my goodness. I really need to do it again. Having lived here almost 30 yrs(in Sept), being one who saves too much and married to someone who is at least as much or more so of a "pack rat" than me. He has pictures/prints on every wall, almost covering all the walls.
I have way too much craft supplies, for me and for the daycare, WAY TOOO many toys for the daycare. Looking forward to totally retiring and getting rid of it and getting my living room back and one day, get in my craft room and clear/organize it.
Got my booster shot today plus fighting this asthma(this is week 3 and still doing at least 3 and up to 5 nebulizer treatments every day). Feeling tired so going to go do another treatment then read a bit and go to bed early tonight. Woke up at 4:15AM(thanks to a cat fight) then couldn't get back to sleep til 6.
Going to a toy show(hopefully husband WONT find any he wants- he is already boxing up a bunch to sell at a toy show next month, first time) on Saturday- Son's 24th birthday and that is what he wants to do. Beings we will be in Santa Clara, we will go to San Jose and do a little grocery shopping Mitsuwa(Japanese grocery) and Lion Market(Chinese grocery)- Don't need anything but we will go check it out anyways.
No school tomorrow so have the daycare girl all day-at least I don't have to go over and pick her up.
Have a great evening ladies.

Karen - I wish I lived close to you. I love antiques. So does my daughter, she and her best friend both decorate with antique items. Not the fussy furniture but items and trinkets
Lisa - 😂 what an image. I more have a husband in my ear that bugs worse than a 2 year old wanting a piece of candy. For some reason though his desire for plants has nothing to do with the work involved with them, just the beauty. For me it’s just something else to look after.
Betsy - I would be staying behind with your husband. I would love the beauty and the nature, but want the modern convenience of indoor plumbing and electricity.
Kim - we call them yard sales and garage sales here. I don’t hold them because I find them to much work. I donate a lot or sell on Marketplace if it’s something I think I can get a bit of money for.
Carla - there are few neighbourhoods like that around here. That is how my girls grew up for the first few years of their lives though.
Allie - Is Carmine wanting to transition to male? I sure feel bad for them, and for Tracy and Kyle. It must be such a difficult time.
I am the furthest thing from a minimalist. I love trinkets, pictures on the wall, decorated shelves. I switch things up fairly frequently. Usually as the seasons change, I end up getting rid of stuff and bringing some different things in or I just use things I have in different ways.
It’s one of my favourite hobbies.
It’s late. I’ll catch up tomorrow.

In my garden ... the dry stream project in its early stages ... snowpeas just about ready to pick and eat ... and another of our sunflowers.
I just came in from a delightful 1.5 hours digging in the garden where the dry stream will go. I'm digging the soil, unearthing roots and rocks.
The roots (big root nests) I'm removing because I've found them wrapped snuggly around my bulbs. I suspect that might be part of the reason some of my bulbs didn't grow. The roots are from weeds, grass, and the rosemary hedge.
The rocks ... when this house was built, they left a lot of the rocks and bricks used in the building of the house there and covered them over with a light layer of soil. I don't have to dig down very far to find pieces of broken brick. It's OK that they are in the soil because plant roots will go around them, but I'm removing them because they'll be part of my dry stream.
I had ABC classic on and was listening to my quiet music while digging in the the soil with the sun shining on me. Lovely!
Very therapeutic. Much needed after an incredibly busy, frustrating, loud, noisy, demanding week.

MRI Scheduled April 8, grateful only a two week wait. C’s DH has been waiting over a year for his MRI from the VA. Communication SNAFUs. Leg seems better, swelling down, knee more reliable. Couldn’t quite make step goal, but doubled yesterday’s count. Looking forward to Elks’ Bingo tomorrow with T & C.
Saw this and thought of Rori’s Mars the leash-loving cat.

Annie thanks for the meditation reminder! That I can do!
Katla so thankful you, DH and DD are pleased with the new doctor. Is he your doctor too?
Rebecca you can never come to my cluttered house, it would give you fits!
Pip 5 miles? Again??? You are triumphant!!!
Michele somehow I don’t see you sitting still for very long Glad the pills are helping.
Thanks Machka, I forgot about Ginko Biloba. Lovely dry stream project coming along beautifully.
Going back and forth in my mind. March goal activities have been a total bust, some excusable, others not. Part of me wants to just bag it, part of me says “Don’t wait ‘til next month, tomorrow is a fresh start.” Yesterday, average steps were 5110. Interim goal for the rest of the month is to better that every day. Today brought average up to 5192. Never give up!
Later, Lighter, lovelies!

Barbara - Loved the Walter video! and yes, I get the reminder of Mars the leash-loving cat...🤣
Pip - Your incredible health before the surgery is serving you well now... a reminder for all of us as we age. You still astound me.
My office is making me a little wiggy at the moment because in order for me to declutter it, I had to bring a number of bins in to sort through for sell/keep/donate, and I'm having a hard time getting started. In fact, typing to y'all is providing me with a good excuse not to start...
Corey's in the last 15 minutes of his going-to-work routine, and the washer and dryer are doing their thing. I've taken the water pill that will cut in about 15 minutes after he leaves. It's all about timing... Egg has been complaining all morning that she does not get enough petting by making herself a speed bump. It's a matter of tripping over her or petting her. Goofy kitty.
Below freezing now, but supposed to get up to the 60s for a high--the last couple of gray and gloomy days have matched my mood but feeling better this morning.
If it's warm enough this afternoon that my hands can take it, I want to build myself a sort of travois. I have a bunch of 12-foot long bamboo and want to build a triangle with cross-bars that will be sturdy enough to hold large branches so I can pile brush on top of it and drag it to the burn pile.
I've tried dragging a tarp behind my little lawn tractor, and it works, but the tarp tears on sharp rocks and small tree stumps and ends up useless. A bamboo travois should hold up, and if tied correctly will work. I've got a whole pile of grapevine that I need to use, and I should be able to use that to tie the crossbars on. The bamboo poles were free, and the grapevine was essentially free as well--I just pruned all the grapevines back to the stocks. We'll see if it holds up over the year.
Off to get something done in my office. As soon as I read the news...
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR

Another fabulous spring day. I went for my 5k run after breakfast and it was already warm. Came home via the butcher and bought their wonderful 'artisan' scotch eggs and pork pie. Yummo!
Did an extra 25 mins on the rower when I got in to make up the 600 calories morning goal.
For those of you who like Sounds, Desert Island Discs this morning was Alan Cummings, which some of you may remember, is my brother's wife's sister's ex-husband's brother. The ex-husband, Tom, mentioned in the programme, used to be our painter and decorator when we first moved to our last house as he couldn't find work at that time as an architect. My brother and DSIL (currently with covid) are close to Alan, go to first nights and stay in his apartment in NY. Anyway, it's a good listen, especially for those who had a hard time as children. Lisa - you could listen while you declutter.
Then I wrote my morning allotment of words. A good day.
Zoom this afternoon with my old schoolfriends. G has just got back from visiting B in Glasgow. I'm not sure they told my difficult friend about it in advance, but I hope they will come clean this afternoon. Otherwise it's a bit awkward.
Must wash my hair now.

Hi there all. I am new here so I hope I am doing this right. Anyway, my name is Suss, I'm 57 and disabled after a long term CO leak. I have struggled with eating habits and eating disorders my whole life. I am advised by doctor to not vaccinate since I have had anaphylaxis to medications many times. And so I still have to isolate and my gosh have I grown. I have not dared to weigh myself for a while.
I tried Noom but it didn't work for me. The articles were good but you could not see what was in your food in the end of the day. My diabetes doctor say I cannot loose weight since I take so much insulin. But I have decided I absolutely have to get in better shape. And I believe that if you just work hard enough on it, you can overcome the impossible.
I look forward to get to know you all. It was a bit of a challenge to find the way in this discussion jungle so I really hope to find my way back again.
Have you been able to find your way back yet?

I'm also 55. I lost a lot of weight when I was 48/49 but it seems to have found me again so I'm working on it with increased activity.

So yesterday, I had an attitude adjustment about tracking my food. I think in the past I've thought of it as a boss. A very demanding boss. And I'm not sure how I got to that idea. But I'm being intentional today, about seeing tracking as a tool, a very specific tool, like needle nose pliers, or better yet, pinking shears (I sew, and that tool is indispensable). Yeah. Using the right tool makes doing a project *so* much easier!
