🌻 April Goals🌻
🌻 Keep moving
🌻 Bring in some strength training
🌻 Some light fasts
So March undid some of my work in Feb BUT I did land a new job and getting back into work is a pretty stressful thing, so I'm making my peace with March. I had been out of work most of the last year after being bullied out of a role I loved, so coming back into the workplace is both brilliant and very stressful. I notice some of ptsd symptoms are increasing, more nightmares and racing HR BUT far more manageable than it has been in a while and with each day I'm getting more comfortable with the new team and their way of working.
I started doing a little bit of walk-jogging over the past few weeks which is huge for me, I had ankle/knee surgery about 10 years ago and didn't think I'd be able to jog or run, I struggled to walk comfortably for years (and sometimes it flares up). But a mix of the tens machine, stretching, walking and taking it easy on days that it's flared up is helping. I don't want to set any hard goals around time/distance/speed until I've built up a bit more strength and stamina, so for now the goal is 3 sessions per week. It's been nice having my OH keep me company (even if my pace is painfully slow for him!).
Thanks again all, Raven and the rest of the fab crew here. I knew you were all here and now that I'm through interviews and am two weeks into the job, I'm delighted to be back.
I'm planning to do some light fasting, I've fasted in the past mostly for health benefits but also to help me readjust my eating habits and fix cravings. I did one 24hr fast last week, will most likely do the same each week and see how I get on. The electrolyte drink does taste horrendous though!7 -

@justanotherloser007 Just had to let you know.
Just finished my second elliptical session today. Total for the day, 335 minutes for 26.28 miles. My new PR. Someone asked me months ago if I was training for a marathon with my long times. I of course said, "No way." But I pushed tonight to get the 26.2 miles but I like even minutes. I dropped into the 140's this AM. Its been years.

Hi I’m kikina and thank you @ravencloud for this thread I’ve been gone from MFP watching my weight always and I gained another 10 lbs instead of loosing! So I need MFP and the support I’ve hit my all time hi! And I want to go down hill from here Yesterday was my first day I do OMAD and keto! I feel great but the weight won’t go away so I’m trying to incorporate exercise!

Good morning everyone!
Weight's up a little, still under the trendline. I did go off-plan yesterday, we had some friends come into town. We had some good pizza and garlic knots. Supposedly I was beneath my calories according to what I logged, but restaurants aren't all the same and if I was above, it wasn't anything that was going to kill my progress.
It's Wednesday! And I have got to figure out what my maintenance calories are going to be for this weekend, lol. I'm going to try to spoiler this for being a very long explanation with pictures.I don't know if I've mentioned it, but I'm an engineer, and spreadsheets are my love language. That said, mine is very rudimentary, I'm sure it could look better, but again, engineer. It just has to be good enough to do the job, .
So I have an input tab, where I put my weight and my weekly calorie logs that MFP gives me every Monday in the Weekly Reports tab. I do some calculations with those numbers, adding my loss through the week, multiplying the loss by 3500 for total calorie deficit, and then adding that deficit to the weekly calorie log, to get a weekly 'maintenance calorie' number. This isn't perfect, because the weekly loss could be partly water weight, and my logging is only as good as it can be, but we'll get there.
To make it simpler on myself, I hide all the columns where calculations happen, and only show what columns I add to every day or week.
Then on a tab I call 'The Bridge,' because I'm a huge nerd, I have my visualization/summary. It pulls from the maintenance calculations on my input tab to show me at a glance what my weekly maintenance calories were, and I average it at the end of the month to try to get rid of the noise of water weight. This is also where I keep a rolling average of my weight, just in case I ever lose Libra for whatever reason. I know MFP doesn't keep all my historical data unless I pay them.
I think for maintenance purposes, I'm going to aim for 2000 calories. I think I'd be uncomfortable setting my calories any higher, to account for any logging inaccuracies I've been unknowingly doing. After the diet break, I can find out how close I got (or not, I might eat a lot of food that's hard to log, ).
Anyway! Enough nerd stuff, tag party time!
@porquenoirl I'm so happy to hear about the new job. You plan on fasting for 24 hours each week? Electrolyte drink?
@hap2go weight loss isn't linear. Don't let your relationship to gravity at the moment you weighed affect your mood. All you have to do is keep going, and progress will come.
@swimmom_1 WOW! Your workout sounds very challenging, and that you rose to the challenge! Also you're having a nice whoosh right now.
@kikina hi! There are lots of different ways to lose weight, if omad and keto work for you, that's great. I would caution you just to make sure you're getting enough calories, as that can be hard to do on omad.
2 more days until Spring Break! I'm gearing up to do lots of things this spring break, I'll hopefully finish up the home office/craft room, and bring y'all before and after pictures. Have a great day everyone!

Hello!
I just found this group and would like to join if you don’t mind I definitely need support. I started this year doing a diet program and it was working pretty well. I lost 10 lbs in 2 months (starting at 216 lbs). Then I got corona and I just gave up. I’m actually the type of person that gains weight while sick. Eating is the only thing that makes me feel better.🤪 I’m not sure how much I weigh now. I’m assuming at least 216 based on how my clothes fit..😣 But I'll try to muster the courage to step back on the scale and start again Friday.🤞🏻I don’t have any support from friends or family, so I’m really hoping this will help me. And if I can help support others too, that would be fantastic! I know I need to do this not only for my self-esteem but for my health as well, but somehow that hasn't been motivational enough.😕
Age: 35
Height: 5'5"
SW: 216
CW: 216
GW: 145 (where I was four years ago!)
Goals for April:
1) restart diet
2) log meals/weight on MFP
3) convince husband to watch toddler so I can use treadmill at least 3x/week😅

@hap2go Amazing going with the walking dealing with everything going on. Colour me inspired.
@swimmom_1 Wow you have come so far, gives me a lot of hope, and OMG 26.2miles! WOW, someday I'll get there.
@kikina how are you finding keto?
@CupcakeCrusoe I also love spreadsheets! This is fab, I've been thinking of doing something similar. this is a thing of beauty! I'm going to give the weekly fast a go and see how I get on, I got a recipe for a homemade electrolyte drink, it doesn't taste nice!
@Gia_G I also eat when I'm sick, unless I'm horrendously unwell or have a stomach bug, I'm eating. I understand the feeling with the scales, I would say try to see it as a useful number, nothing more, so you can track your progress. (I have to remind myself of this not irregularly!).

Midweek unofficial update, new low weight this morning 186.6 AND I ran a mile in 12 minutes flat (11'51" average pace). So, Wednesday seems to be off to a good start! Let's hope I can keep that good juju momentum going, I'm just about to go get dressed for work.
I wore a pencil skirt yesterday that I thrifted years ago and it fit in the store, but I swear I must have gained five pounds just on the drive home - I was never able to wear it out of the house until yesterday. When I tell you I felt like a Hot Business Lady...I bought some new clothes over the weekend, including a bright red blouse with ruffly half-sleeves, and I think if I wore that pencil skirt with that red blouse, I would be *kitten* unstoppable. The most unstoppable kitten. I've even got red heels that match the blouse. The aesthetic I'd like to cultivate as I get closer to goal is basically Sexy Librarian, and that outfit is well on its way to achieving the look. I'm putting it in writing here so maybe I'll actually remember/follow through, but now that I can wear that skirt, I want to wear it more often and get some use out of it while it still fits.7 -

@hap2go ((hugs)) walking is super important, even hospital walking. I do all my exercise as walking, because it is easy and I can do it just about anywhere. I pace, if I am waiting. The saying for weight loss is "eat less, move more" and walking is moving more! So hang in there. I also found walking super relaxing for when life gets hard - foot, meet ground.. repeat. Life seems less complex to me when I am "walking" or getting steps in, I just let all the stress fall to the reality that some things really are that easy. I am grateful I can walk, I know some can't.
@cupcakecrusoe Love your charts! Fun to try to get that maintenance pegged. Then as you lose weight it changes, because life is funny like that!
@goal06082021 congrats on running a mile in 12 minutes... what? AMAZING!! And I love your description of your new wardrobe, one sexy librarian coming up!
@Gia_G Hi Gia! Welcome! Come on in, look around this is a super nice group! We are here for you.
@kikina Welcome! Keep tracking, you will find out what is going on. For my cycle it is nothing for me to gain 4-7 lbs in water weight. Just depends on what is happening with cico.
@swimmom_1 Almost 6 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are incredible!!!!! That is freaking amazing, I am trying to find the young lady who did the Mojave desert race, that is days and nights, because... I mean, you are going places!! There is that app that tells you how far you have gone if you walked that on the planet. Buuuut, I mean, when I was rowing at the gym I pretended that I was on a boat raided by pirates in the Bermuda Triangle. So I pulled up a map, put a dot, there was my dingy and every day I got a little closer to land. You could do something like that. Where would you go walking in the world?3 -

You did 5 - 6 hours on the elliptical?!?!?!?!?! Holy crap. Is that something you do regularly or was this a one-off?
@goal06082021 - love that you're fitting into that sexy librarian find!!! Hot Business Lady, INDEED!
@CupcakeCrusoe - I have a similar spreadsheet I use to track. Not an engineer, but also a data nerd.
I forgot to do my daily weigh-in today as I was up and out early to get the pup to playcare and myself to Orangetheory. The workout was bizarrely hard this morning and I'm trying to not beat myself up about feeling so gassed so quickly.
I had a rest day yesterday and I think tomorrow needs to be one, too. Just feeling exhausted and off. I'll get in some nice stretching and slow yoga, but that's about it.4 -
Hello everyone! Thanks again for continuing this thread! It is so supportive!
As I said last month I hit a 3 week plateau. It was super frustrating and I started obsessing over my weight loss. I grew up with a parent that was obsessed with their weight. It was not healthy and so when I start to obsess I feel triggered.
I decided to take a few weeks off of counting calories. I allowed my self to eat intuitively. Because of my weight loss journey I now feel proper hunger signals again so this was finally possible. I didn't avoid treats/snacks but I tried to eat them in moderation.
This Monday, I decided I was ready to focus on weight loss again. I got on the scale thinking I probably gained a lb or two but that was ok because weight loss is not linear. It's a journey to a healthier lifestyle. To my surprise, I stayed the exact same weight to the 0.1 decimal! 232.4 lbs! I feel like this was a good lesson on maintenance and listening to what my body needs.
I am back to counting calories. I brought my calorie goal back up to 1700. When I was obsessing I had brought it down to 1400 and I don't think that was enough for my body. I will stick to 1700 for the month of April while focusing on getting my exercise in and see where it takes me.
SW: 253 lbs
CW: 232.4 lbs
GW: 150 lbs
Exercise goals:
Walk to work 3 days/week- first week yes!
At least one Ringfit Adventure workout on days off.
Try to stay at 1700 calories every day of April except Easter weekend with family (eat intuitively).
Non scale victory: I bought two new items of smaller clothes! They fit so well! My body has really changed shape!

@goal06082021 - I think we need a picture of this outfit. It sounds amazing!4

Ha! @CupcakeCrusoe & @seltzer_lover , glad I am not the only one to dump my data in a spreadsheet I have zero skills for charting/graphing off the data, but have some small formulas built in for calculations. I pop in my scale readings, the calorie goal (based on my selected rate of loss and extra activity calories), and my actual consumption; formulas fill in the rest. It really helps reinforce that things are going as they are supposed to, especially when I see some weird fluctuations on the scale. And it has shown that I pretty much fall in-line with the statistical averages. Here's mine:

I did start a app Charity miles with your suggestion. Started Wounded Warrior Project as my charity(I have 2 of my 4 sons in the military) on 1/3/22 and I've logged on it 902 miles so far! I have no idea though how much I've raised. I figure may not be more than $0.05/mile. So it would only be $45.00.
You are the person, who asked if I was training for a Marathon, when I started doing over an hour on the Elliptical.

On my days off work I try to do at least 3 hours. I'm a RN and work 10 + hours, so I usually don't exercise on my work days. I figure the long hours on my off days counter balances that. I am watching a series on Peacock. The episodes are 45 minutes w/o commercials. So I watch 4. Yesterday I thought in the evening I would do 2 more than said, " What the heck I'll do 3." Then I was fairly close to 12 miles and thought "I'll do 12.2 miles" as I did 14 miles in the morning session. So this was the first time I did that far!

Good morning everyone!
Weight spike! It's probably the fact I ate salty greek salad for two of three meals yesterday, lol. Not worried about it.
One more day and then a half day at work, and I'm in Spring Break! I'm feeling almost completely better, hopefully improvement keeps happening until I'm not sick at all.
Not much to say this morning, so let's get after it with a tag party:
@Gia_G we're all here for you, welcome! Friday is my (official) weigh in day, so we'll weigh in together!
@goal06082021 like everyone else, I love that you're going for the aesthetic of Sexy Librarian. I always think of Rachel Weisz in the cult favorite The Mummy (1999) when I think of the sexy librarian vibe.
@Generic_Excuse I love your username also hi! And reducing sodium intake goes a long way toward eating more fruits and veg, which is also great.
@justanotherloser007 @seltzerlover @porquenoirl I love all this talk of spreadsheets, makes my heart happy. @lmgoff232 I think I might steal one or two of your column ideas... haha
@sbortnick I love this. Very healthy mindset. And so weird how you were the exact same weight! I guess intuitive eating win!
@swimmom_1 Charity Miles is a great app, I used it all the time while I was half-marathon training.
I think that's everything! I need to start adjusting my mindset to see some weird weight swings and things in the next week, during my diet break. Guaranteed it's going to be water and glycogen replenishment, and I try not to let the scale hurt my feelings, but it will be a mental adjustment all the same. I think I'll review my book on the topic for some reinforcement.
Have a great day, everyone!

Hi, everyone.
I started off April Onederfully !
This means that I'm halfway to my goal, and that if I keep this up, I'll make that flight weight for that flight to see the grizzly bears in Alaska on my mother's 90th birthday in late July. 🐻 🐻 🐻
This also means that I'll celebrate my daughter's wedding at the end of this month weighing less than I have in three years, solidly in Onederland again, looking nice in a pretty dress that fits, flounces, and flatters. 👰🏼 💃🏼
This site - you all - help so much. I read every comment you make.
Thank you! 💗
