Good morning everyone!
I painted one whole room start to finish yesterday, today it's time to work on the built ins, go grocery shopping, and see if a new butcher a little closer to us will work out.
Also- it happened to me, I got a whoosh while upping my calories. 190.6! I only would have lost water weight, but it's nice to know that 191.8 wasn't my lowest going into this diet break. It is now perfectly possible that I can see the 180's this month.
I'm revving my engine, ready to get started. I've been thinking about this room redecoration for months. So tag party time!
@jazzadesigns Loss is loss, and keeping on is keeping on.
@RBnorth66 looks like great goals to me! Welcome!
@lmgoff232 hang in there! It's coming! I similarly can't buy jeans without trying them on anymore. Sizing is too weird.
@goal06082021 your hike sounded very relaxing and nice! And your plan for dinner makes sense. I love not having to cook, and hate logging food when other people do. Catch 22.
@KeriA your goals make sense. It is good to know where you are before you change to try to get somewhere else. I found the spreadsheet really helps with that- helped me tune in more to how what I ate affected my progress, and whether it WAS too fast or too slow for me. Something to consider, to restart your spreadsheet.
@_manny_702 look at that thing go!
@KatieHall77 I know @justanotherloser007 is going through perimenopause, y'all should join forces to trade tips, haha. I like that not googling medical symptoms is a rule of yours, and I hope everything gets sorted, or you at least understand it better. On the bright side, demo-ing a kitchen sounds like a blast. Hit it with a sledgehammer once for me!
@77topcat the protein bars in the car/in my bag has saved me more than once. You got this.
Have a great Sunday, everyone!5 -

Morning all. I've been off track a few days. Scales aren't happy but I know it's water weight too so I'm hoping it will be back down soon. Continuing fasting 18:6 and some days 20:4. Have a good week all.6
-
Hey all, just in to say a quick hi after the weekend. I'm def up a few lbs but I got to see family and friends, so I'm really not too bothered and I'd say I'll get that down in the next couple of weeks again.
I did a slightly faster walk-jog on Sat, dropped my nephew off to his sports and then made use of their local forest, @goal06082021 I'm smiling reading your post, I spotted a baby stoat while in the forest, it was so cool, not an animal I'd see often. I just started tracking these walk-jogs last week so I'm hoping to push something each week once things feel good like distance/time/pace.
And we're starting our swimming lessons this evening, hoping it goes well!
Hope everyone has a great week!5 -
Good morning everyone!
Man, the lack of cortisol = body lets go of water retention is no joke. 190.2 today! Either that, or my lowballing my maintenance number means I'm in a slight deficit. But I'm having a good time and thoroughly enjoying what I'm eating, and I'm not hungry. My weekly report says I consumed 11574 cal for the week, which is only above my normal deficit weekly calorie number by 374. The real test of maintenance calories will be to see what they look like and what my weight does next Monday, after seven days of maintenance calories.
I made my protein brownies Saturday, and they sat on the counter. I never took one. Whatsisface ate two and asked me if I was feeling okay. I gave myself permission Saturday and Sunday to eat one if I wanted one, I just... didn't. The recipe is good though, I've had a piece of one while I was cutting them up to freeze this morning.
Yesterday, I took out the hand saws and sawed holes in my cube shelves so I can route cables through there, and started painting the ones that aren't white, white. You'll see it when I post pictures. I went grocery shopping, got some special local made ice cream, visited the butcher and got bibimbap for later this week... oh, and made my second trip to lowes in two days for mounting hardware and a hole saw attachment, lol. At dinner, we went to get Jamaican food at a local place, delicious, and we got drunk, so we watched Face/Off and had a long, winding discussion about nothing in the parking lot while Whatsisface sobered up. It was weird but fun, we had nowhere to be.
It was a good day! I'm enjoying my diet break and break from the kids. I feel productive and good about things. With any luck, I'll get all the shelves painted today, and hopefully mount the blocks on the wall to stabilize them when I go to mount them. But at least, they'll all be done being painted today. I think Whatsisface wants to go get a pedicure with me today, too....
Anyway! Tag party!
@swimmom_1 wow! That's so much time on the elliptical! Good for you!
@roz0810 back in the saddle again!
@porquenoirl all these forest walks sound lovely, maybe I'll find the time this week to do the same!
Have a great Monday, everyone!

Goals for April:
🍎 Increase daily fruit and veggie servings (currently hitting 2-3/day and aiming to reach 3-4/day minimum)
🧘🏼♀️ Continue exercising 2-3 times a week or more
💭 Start seeing a therapist for talk therapy
⬇️ Lose 7 pounds (but I’ll be happy with any loss)
SW: 288.8
CW: 276.8
GW for April: to get under 270
3/28: 276.8
4/4: 275.4 (-1.4)
4/11: 274.2 (-1.2)

I mostly met my goals for the week. I ate at least 3 servings of fruit and veggies and even got 4-5 servings every day except last Monday. I also met my fiber everyday except yesterday. It’s quite a bit harder with my brother cooking two meals in one day where there’s only 1-2 grams of fiber per meal 😬 but I did manage 20g for the day with fiber rich snacks. Got my progress photo taken and exercised twice. I tried to add my progress collage here but keep getting signed out every time I try.
Goals for the upcoming week:
🍎 Keep hitting 3-5 fruit & veggie goal each day
🧘🏼♀️ Exercise twice if I’m able to
🥦 Keep getting enough fiber each day
💊 Hopefully get my blood pressure med adjusted to the right dose at my appt (I’ve adjusted it myself since my dr never called me back)
👧 Have fun with my niece if she spends the night Friday (it’s been forever since we spent time together)4 -

Good morning! This week is going to be rough, it's spring break! With both kids home and not walking to and from school with them, I'll be missing 3,000-4,000 steps a day. We have a severe wind warning of 60mph today so no playing outside in that crap! I'll get on the treadmill at some point today . I hope you all have an amazing week!5 -
Good morning!
I totally forgot to weigh-in this morning, so that's delayed. I tweaked my back a little on Saturday so yesterday I was entirely, completely, deliciously lazy. Watched some Call the Midwife, worked on a puzzle for a bit, did some yoga/stretching, and foam rolled. It was glorious.
Back at it today with a workout this afternoon and I've booked my class times for my entire vacation. Able to stay on a fairly regular schedule, so that helps take the edge off. (Plus it's a little break from some intensive family-time. It's win-win. )5 -

Hello everyone!
YESSS!! The plateau has broken! Down 1.4 lbs this week! Progress!
SW: 253 lbs
CW: 231 lbs
GW: 150 lbs
Exercise goals:
Walk to work 3 days/week- Week 1: yes!
At least one Ringfit Adventure workout on days off. Week 1: Twice!
Try to stay at 1700 calories every day of April except Easter weekend with family (eat intuitively)- Week 1:Yes!
I had a thought in the shower this week about self care. So often society tells us that self care is something that takes money (buy yourself something, spa/salon services, exercise classes, ect). This was always a hindrance for me. I have two kids in daycare in one of the most expensive cities in the world. There is very little "me money". However, I have now been focusing on my personal health and now this is my definition of self care. It's taking time to notice changes in my body and doing something about it, positive or negative.
If I notice I have put on weight, I need to figure out why and use some of my mental energy on myself to take care of myself.
Did that meal make me feel like crap? Pay attention to it. Take more time to make a meal that makes me feel good.
I am always tired. Then ignore the "stuff" that needs to be done and rest. Recharge. Go to bed early.
It is not selfish to need time for yourself. You can't pour from an empty cup. I want to be around for a long time for my family. However, that means making sure those years are worth it! I don't want to be hanging back cause I'm "too big" or "out of shape" to do what the family is doing. Anyways, thanks for the mental dump. I've been too busy for therapy lately so I guess I'm getting my thoughts out here!
Have a great day everyone!8 -
@CupcakeCrusoe I'm so lucky with the forest here, it was a big part of why we chose to move here. It's small and lovely. Those brownies sound good!
@bonniemcc4 Oh if you're looking for a way to get more fiber in I'm finding psyllium husk great. I'm making waffles with it, they are totally half psyllium husk (lol) but I kinda like them. I was doing them with cinnamon at first but that wrecks me histamine-wise, so I did them with dried ginger this morning, not as nice but def working. If you would like a recipe give me a shout (I think I actually have it tracked...). And best wishes with the therapist, I'm waiting on a call back here and hoping that the therapist that did my initial call will be the one working with me because she was awesome.
@_manny_702 Good luck with spring break (so I'm Irish and when I hear spring break I always think of the college kids....so for a minute I was imagining you partying your heart out!). Hope the wind doesn't do any damage.
@seltzer_lover hope you heal up fast! I managed to irritate my piriformis in Jan and was out of action most of Feb, it was a literal pain in the butt.
@hap2go OMG yes to Monday as a fresh start, I ended up making a heap of kinda pad Thai for a friend and her daughter over the weekend, so while it wasn't exactly the food choices I would like to have made, I got to share food with lovely people, so yeah to that. Enjoy the time with your family, that all sounds lovely!
@sbortnick whoop! Yeah for plateau blasting! Fab point about self-care not necessarily requiring money.5 -
Hello from Canada!
Thanks for letting me check in. My husband hit maintenance this week but has committed to continue tracking with me so that I don't fall off tracking. We measure/track everything except water!

Goood morning everyone!
Still holding at 190.2. I like that. I'm pretty sure my period is soon, so I might see a spike in water retention, but it's just water.
Got the shelves painted yesterday, today I have to try to mount them to the wall. Once that's done, I can put stuff back in them, and my front room won't be as much of a disaster. Probably to make them pretty, I'll have to find hidey holes for a lot of my craft stuff, but I do have a whole unused closet in this house in the girls' playroom. It will be a big relief when I get this shelf thing done enough, even if not as done as I wanted it to be. I just want a clean house again, lol.
Also today: meeting my brother and his wife for sushi. I'm so excited, I love sushi. I think Whatsisface and I are going to have the big solar panel discussion, about which company we're going to go with, today.
Tag party!
@bonniemcc4 I love how you overcome obstacles to complete your goals.
@_manny_702 oh no, no going outside on spring break?! cabin fever time.
@seltzer_lover sounds like a very restful rest day!
@hap2go yes, AND! You've now had a great time!
@sbortnick absolutely. Lots of things that don't cost money are self-care, and ARE important. One of the ones I have to remind myself is, your house doesn't have to be spotless all the time. Maybe you close the door on the kids' bedrooms because there are toys everywhere and you don't want to see them, instead of trying to clean it up. That's self-care, right there. Constantly wanting a clean house stresses me out so much.
@Rainyvanc I love that you and your husband are doing it together! That's so lovely! I wish MFP allowed us to share recipe numbers with other members, that would make things easier in that scenario.
Have a great Tuesday, everyone!

🌻 April GOALS! 🌻

I weigh myself daily and record my losses here hopefully weekly or more often.
4/9/2022: 251
4/12: 249.2
I got my 2nd booster shot Sunday and I had a bad reaction yesterday with chills, fever and was a bit queasy with no appetite. So this loss may not be here to stay but I am logging it because it is a step towards my monthly goal and it broke the 250s barrier for me that I have been hovering at for a while.
I was so busy with jobsearch and not feeling well I wasn’t able to do my bullet journal Monday. I am okay with missing the weekends but want to use it to keep organized now that I am not working. However I got all my to do list items done even though I didn’t write them down. Hope to have time tomorrow morning to get organized before getting going.
I wasn’t able to do the meal planning yet. So that is on tomorrow’s list. My husband got me the makings for my chicken salad sandwiches so we have a at home meal l tonight. Leftovers from last week’s meal planning got us through when I was feeling sick. My youngest who lives with us although she has a good job and is in her mid 20s reminded me of leftovers we had for dinner last night that was just right for my touchy stomach. So a little planning goes a long way.
@KatieHall77 I didn’t realize I was menopausal because I kept having irregular small periods I thought. Finally my doctor said I was too old to be having periods so she sent me to my gynecologist and it turned out that there was a polyp that she took care of and that was the end of that. Of course they tested it and it was benign.
@77topcat Happy Birthday
@sbortnick I am not surprised that you broke the plateau. It sounded like you were planning to do the right thing to me. Yes self care doesn’t have to mean money but time is essential.7 -
Hello all -- I am so glad to find this group and am really inspired by the posts I have read.
It's an old story, but I just had my annual check-up and can see that if I don't prioritize myself/my health, things will go downhill fast.
I am 59:
SW:240
CW:247
Next goal: 199
After that: 150:
UGW:135
I am logging food (shooting for 1200 cals, with 4 veggies and 2 fruits, and moving 60 mins for now. As always and as everyone has, there are a million stressors right now, lots of family members with needs. Not that I didn't "know" it, but I really heard it when my doc said, "Look, you won't be able to help them if you aren't healthy yourself." Duh, but, yeah.
If not now, when?
Peace and congrats to all. I look forward to being on this journey with you.
Hugs, Serena8 -
I went with the hubby to a museum on Saturday, and took some pics. I decided to do a face to face difference (the first pic is 2009, so more than a decade ago)

Wow -- that is so inspiring. You look beautiful in both photos, but younger in the more recent one!2

Good morning everyone!
I am still full from last night's sushi! Lol. So my weight is up two pounds from what it was yesterday, and it's all sushi and water retention. Bodies are amazing. But the good news- we couldn't finish the sushi boat last night, so more sushi for me today!
And then our friends come tonight to make steak, which will be fun and delicious. I didn't get the shelves mounted yesterday- they needed one last coat of paint to blend in better, But they're back inside now, and I've cut all the wood blocks to use behind them at the top to stabilize them, since I'm not cutting out the baseboard. Today, just have to drill holes in blocks and the wall, screw through, and these shelves will be mounted, and I can finally clean up.
I was going to put plywood between the shelves to hide the space between them, too. *kitten*. I guess I mount the first, put the first plywood in between, and keep going that way across, so that I don't have any awkward spaces, just in case. Dang. And then I'll have to caulk and sand the seams. Double dang. And then touch up paint. But then THAT'S IT.
Home improvement stuff always takes longer than you think it will.
Anyway! Hopefully I can get somewhere good before noon, when I said I was going to quit to clean up before our friends come for dinner.
Tag party!
@KeriA Here's hoping for a planned and productive day! And I hope you feel better! My first booster made me tired and achy for two and a half ish days.
@serenissima14 Welcome to the thread. I think this is the best thread on the site.
@justanotherloser007 incredible work. And I love that lip color on you!
Lots to do, have a great Wednesday, everyone!

I can't help but feel confused about what is happening with my body right now. I got down to 246 last week and then my weight skyrocketed back up and has just....stayed there. I'm eating right around the place I need to be for 1.5 pounds per week loss (2100-2200 calories) and it's not TOM or anything.
It's just really frustrating to see the major indicator of progress regress. I'm still focused, doing all the right stuff...it's just hard.10 -
Hello again! I've been following this group for a LONG time and feel compelled to search for it every month even though I haven't participated much. It's such an inspiration to see how so many of you have succeeded in working toward and reaching your goals. I like that you're such an open group and are so caring and honest, and I really need you ladies and I need a place where I can be 100% honest. I've decided today is the day to become committed to losing weight, and being accountable here is one step in the right direction. So here goes:

I had a disappointing and somewhat embarrassing phone call today. I was checking into buying long term health care insurance. I was told I would have to weigh below 226 lbs to be considered at all for the insurance and also pay 25% more. OR I could weigh 197 lbs to get the regular rate. Plus I have to stay at that weight for 1 year. You know the old saying, if not now, when? I was consistently between 217-226 between 2014-2020 and then Covid isolation hit and it hit hard! So I gained 15 pounds and have been struggling to bring that back down. Things just got real! I'm frustrated with myself that I haven't taken this seriously before. I'm frustrated that a person who has no health issues is denied insurance because of one number. Feeling sad and mad and scared and hopeful at the same time. Thank you for letting me share.9 -
Well, it looks like I'm not doing the usual tracking and goal setting I've done for other months. Got off a birthday weekend straight into a minor sinus infection. Will be fasting for religious reasons tomorrow, and... yeah. Finally under the weight I ended March on (194.2 pounds!).
My main and only goal this month is to get over my sinus issues so I can do hard workouts again. Maybe go to the actual gym more than 2x a month. Would normally go tomorrow, but I'm not going to workout with my fuel tank on empty. Don't worry- it's only an 18 hour fast. I'll be eating at dinner.
Yeah, we'll see how the rest of the month goes.8 -
Hey all. Back on track today. I've hit my highest weight ever now. It's time to finally do this once and for all. One day at a time!9
-
Good morning everyone!
Looks like we're collectively having a rough time. But, you know, logging through a rough time gives you a lot of data for later, to get where you want to go.
Me, my diet break is going great, although I ended last night uncomfortably full as well. But steaks and friends were good, and I don't have to cook at all today, we have so many leftovers. I don't mind at all. Weight is still 192.4, which is to be expected- I am eating at maintenance (or even slightly over, the last couple nights).
I did finish the front room- home office/craft room! Spoiler for before and after photos! Before:
After:
I wanted to put those cords behind the wall, but we struggled with fish tape that kept puncturing the insulation so we couldn't find it for half an hour and quit, lol. I might try again later.
There's going to be a counter on top of the white shelves, I just haven't decided on what sort of counter, yet. So I'm calling it for now. I'd also love to get my ugly plaid chair reupholstered, or get a new chair, but it seems like a shame to waste a good chair/a lot of money or time to reupholster it. I'm still thinking about it.
Holy cats I forgot the tag party!
@seltzer_lover As you get smaller, the same deficit won't give you the same rate of loss, as you know. If you stay stuck for three to four weeks at this deficit, you'll have to move it downward. But it could just be
Keep the faith!
@nebslp Denied insurance because of weight?! I hate healthcare in the US so much. Welcome to the group! I'm looking forward to seeing you here.
@kenziestabes It's so important to make sure you rest up after an illness, don't be too hard on yourself for not working out while getting over a sinus infection. Sometimes pushing too hard while recovering just makes you sicker, longer.
@roz0810 Good morning Roz! If you feel stuck, or like what you're doing is not working, feel free to take a step back and see how it could work for you, even if the rate of loss might be slower than you really want. Sometimes, that's the best way to make sure it sticks, you know?
I'm going to go for a long walk this morning, since I won't be as active today (finally, no renovations on the docket for today!). Hopefully I can beat the rain. Have a great day everyone!

@nebslp I help take care of my elderly parents both of whom have had LTC policies for years and let me tell you, they are not all theyre cracked up to be. My mom who has Alzheimers is not going to be getting better. Yet every six months we have to haul her to the doctor for the doctor to fill out forms for the LTC confirming that she still suffers from her "impairment". My dad who is mentally with it, suffers from any number of physical medical conditions, keeps getting denied the coverage. All this to say, that I wouldnt be too upset if you cant get a policy. Better off putting your money into some type of safe investment on a monthly basis.
@roz0810 You can do it!
@seltzer_lover Its frustrating for sure. Dont have any wise words just commiseration.
@justanotherloser007 You look beautiful in both but I'm guessing you FEEL so much better now!

Good morning ladies! We're about halfway through the month - if you've been struggling lately, there is still time to turn it around and finish strong.
I'm sure I'm not the only one around here who is prone to the magical thinking of "if I didn't like the thing I ate for dinner, those calories don't count and it's OK to have a whole second meal." Last night I attempted to make mac and cheese without a roux-based cheese sauce, which is how I normally do it - not to save calories, an ounce of flour barely makes a difference in a pot full of pasta and cheese, I just didn't feel like effing around with a roux. To put it mildly, it didn't work. I ate my portion but in retrospect I should have just tossed the whole thing and saved myself 500 calories' worth of disappointment. I tossed the rest, knowing it wouldn't be any better reheated. I was not successful in fighting off the mulligan-dinner impulse, but I didn't go over maintenance, so I'll take that tiny victory. Today is a new day, so I'll brush off my shoulders and get back to it.
@CupcakeCrusoe +1 to the idea of a slipcover for that chair - you can DIY one of those pretty easily with a fitted sheet, as well.9 -
Up another pound today. dkl;fghas;dgheow;rhgaos;hfgajklsfgnjkls;g
I know that this is water weight - my hands feel all swollen and gross. Doesn't make it any easier.
Very thankful for all the support y'all have provided, and the reminders that bodies are strange, mercury is in gatorade, and that this, too, shall pass.
@CupcakeCrusoe - I'm still welllll within my 500 calorie/day deficit when I average out my calories for the week. I recalculated like a crazy person over the weekend and I'm right on track. I re-evaluate every 10 pounds or so to make sure I'm on track. Your updated office looks great!
@hap2go - Thanks for the commiseration. It looks like we're in the same boat right now.
@justanotherloser007 - What a change in those photos!!!

@seltzer_lover (((hugs))) you have come a long way!! Sometimes water weight does happen, even without TOM. I have had water weight from ovulation - man is that a kitten! I also had one month, where I wasn't losing weight and I was doing all the right things. I had gotten all energetic and doubled by walk from 2 miles a day to 5 miles a day. After 30 days (imagine the patience here! I somehow kept to it), I literally lost like 8 lbs overnight. But boy did my numbers look dismal that particular month!!
@CupcakeCrusoe At first, I thought the only difference between the rooms was the fact that whatshisname wasn't in the pic and I was sure you were being cheeky! Lols. Great job, looking good!
@nebslp 226... to be considered at all... wow. Well, now is as good a time as any to get this sorted neb!
@roz0810 I was very much like you when I started this journey in 2013. That whole first year (and after that too - even though I made some headway the next year) . The first year, I lost exactly 0 lbs (I rant in my diary for a year about gaining and losing the same lb over and over). But, like you, I kept coming back. Sometimes, when I watch shows that have addicts or alcoholics - I feel like I was like that. If you listen to them: they want to change. They feel trapped somehow. They have ups and downs... sometimes they do change, sometimes they don't change. For me, I didn't make any headway until I took gluttony and sloth to confession. Because in the end, those sins are the cause of my overweight behavior.
And like any sins, they act like addictions and cause slavery. God really healed me last year in the healing sacrament of confession. I pray healing for you. In confession, I was able to really reflect - be sorrowful for my past behavior (contrition), and make a plan to change (amend my life). Of course, the wonderful thing about confession is that you get a new start, and I was very thankful! I had heavenly help, most especially the Blessed Virgin Mary. I could NOT have done any of this without my most merciful Mother, and I have an icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help - I got it before I became Catholic, it is from Singapore. I just need perpetual help.
It would appear that in your journey reflection is necessary. Ask yourself some "Why do I do that?" questions. Just listen.7 -

Well that wasn't the number I wanted to see on the scale. The last week and a half has been particularly rough with crazy days at work (14 hr + days with high stress/challenges), adapting to the new living situation with MIL and new dog and still trying to get unpacked and adjusted in the new house. Things are going as well as can be expected but I definitely think I have some stress induced water weight going on. Hoping for a whoosh soon! I am staying true to my logging and eating habits so I know that I will keep moving in the right direction (even when the scale is maddening).6 -

You bring up such a good point - I go to a HIIT-focused gym and they really changed up the workouts on 4/1....they're significantly more challenging (and I'm already challenging myself more by jogging over power walking) and I think I'm probably working harder, challenging myself more....and maybe my body is freaking out over that?
That gives me food for thought - the change and the weight stall are nearly perfectly aligned. Not sure there's anything I can do except to wait it out and trust that the whoosh will come.5
