Happy July 5th. I am so glad the fireworks are over. My poor fur babies. Even the meds the vet gave us didn't help. Last night listening to them all around our house, I thought how do people live that noise (only it's real gun fire) every day and night. Sure made we realize how lucky we are.
Lisa--I understand about the mom's. DH's ex told him when he divorced her, he divorced the kids. We went to court over 7 times to get visitation and the judge finally told her if she did not comply one more time and he would put her in jail for 30 days for compet. We still had to have the police stand by for the exchange. His DD is not speaking to us because we would not co-sign a house for them and her mom lives with her. The boy lives close to us and we see each other and he knows how is mom is.
Rita-- What a fun day. thanks for sharing the pictures.
Heather--Sorry to hear about DH's friend. Time just gets away from us so understand while it had been awhile since they were in contact. Sorry to hear you both are positive. But glad to have it done and over and I pray you both recover quickly.
Machka--I am sure you will do great with the new job.
Lisa--I hope you enjoy your time with Corey gone and know you will be more than ready to welcome him home.
Carol-- What a feast. Looks really good.
Rebecca--What a great trip and memories. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
Back to work today and got 3 apps for my job, but none have done this kind of work before and really don't want nights. So keep on looking and figure it out one day at a time.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE5 -
Hi everyone! I am 52 and receive fly rejoined MFP.

I am looking to encourage and support others as they encourage and support me.
My June weight was 299 and I couldn’t believe it! Yikes!!!

Worked. Evidently, they’re having some sort of high-up inspection this month so almost every day I have to do something different. Like yesterday I was told to do the tomatoes first so they have time to cool. Is someone REALLY going to be checking the temperature of the tomatoes???? The other day I was told to put the chopping machine by the sink, which to me makes sense so it can be washed with the sprayer. Then I was told that even tho I clean the inserts for the chopping machine, to put them next to the sink (that’s where they put the dishes to be washed, with my stuff there there’s not going to be room), today I was told that this lettuce spinner (which to me is too small anyway) is never to be on the floor (the old one was for the longest time) but that I should put it in the sink when I’m finished (my understanding is that they’re going to put the chopper there <which they’ve done in the past>. Now with this, there won’t be room for the chopper. Wouldn’t be surprised if it gets put on the floor. But not my problem.) Whatever……
Not much needed to be prepped today, not surprising since yesterday was 4th of July. Probably could have gone to the gym but I didn’t have my things with me and I know if I came home and then went to the gym I wouldn’t have had time before my eye MD visit so I went in the pool instead (oh hardship) Then went to the eye MD. Things are looking fine. Ceramics tonight
I would like to get a piece of wood and have a friend paint “Steve’s Room” for the door to the room he usually stays in when he’s here, but I couldn’t find anything at Michael’s. We don’t have much at all for crafts.
Bonnie – welcome!
Tracey – your salad sounds good. I’ll have to try it. Oh, yes, I saw the Fall merchandise, and the 4th of July stuff 70% off
Divine – So proud of you
M – good luck on the new job
Rebecca – so glad you had such a wonderful trip
kins…. - welcome! What part of NC are you in? I’m in Newton

Stopping in before I head for bed... it's been a quiet day. Walmart delivered my order at 3 p.m., and that was pretty much the high water mark. I find it is much easier to avoid getting junk food when I'm having groceries delivered than reaching out and picking up snacks when I'm in the store. Not really sure why, but I'm OK with it.
With Corey gone, the chance that I'll make a full meal for myself is pretty remote, as well. Big shrug for that. On my own, I eat small meals about five or six times a day. When Corey's cooking, I end up adding in the full meal he makes for both of us, rather than taking one or two of mine away to balance the calorie add. Just need to own that and balance it better. He's really good at helping me achieve it, I just have to be able to express it to him.
Welcome @KinstugiJoy . We're glad you're here! Don't forget to bookmark the thread, and just a note for everyone who's new: Quite a few of us don't accept friend requests, and I'm one of them. This is not personal, it's simply part of my drive to keep social media as a small part of my life only. However, this is an amazing thread with posts from women who've been on it a week, and women who've been on it five to ten years. We have folks from dozens of states in the U.S., and others in the UK, Europe and Australia. Drop into a conversation anywhere you like.

Barbara - “can’t snack when I’m asleep” this is why I went to bed before Rodger got home last night.
Machka - trying to get the right clothing for a new position is always the worst. I have found in the position I’m in now that I dress more “girly” I work mostly with women now and it was mostly men.
For those of you that have to battle the fireworks that would get annoying fast. We have a few that go off occasionally here, but they are illegal in the city. You can buy them for outside city limits.
Rebecca - so happy you had a wonderful trip!!! Love the pictures.
Annie - what a relief to get your Mom to the appointment!
Rita - I hope you find some solace at the therapy appointment.
Vicki - I will never understand parents that use their child as a pawn. What a nasty thing to do to her children.
Lisa - I finally figured out last night that I didn’t have to have a big supper, just because it’s what’s ingrained. So last night and tonight I’ve just picked at things instead of a meal. Lo and behold my calories are much better!
I drove into the city tonight after work. I was looking for a specific colour of seed bead. I had checked Michael’s and 2 Dollarama’s here and they didn’t have them. I ended up at another Michael’s, the Dollar tree and a 5th Dollarama before finding them. I probably spent more on gas than I did the beads.
If I hadn’t been over halfway done this stocking I would have changed it up a bit.
Another wet cold day. I’m so tired of it.

I forgot I wanted to share this. My SIL was driving Jonah to camp today and Michaela went along for the ride.
They stopped and looked down at the campground before driving in. What a beautiful picture.

Just skimmin’ as I’m pooped.
Katla thinking of you and your family. Touch base with us when you can.
Welcome @KinstugiJoy in NC! Logging every bite lick and sip is key. Another is weighing instead of measuring food. A real eye opener. Lisa introduced us to Kinstugi awhile back. Beautiful and stronger than before. Well done!
Rebecca so good to see your smiling face!
Rita ((hugs)) Hope your counselor is a good fit. If not, don’t give up, just try someone else!
Tracey thought of you this morning when saw a news item about a 13year old girl, missing for over a week, from your area, was found here in Oregon where she’d been lured. Her father was on TV urging parents to be super vigilant. He and his wife were involved in their daughter’s life, had all the appropriate parental controls in place. Yet this man was still able to manipulate their daughter into meeting him in person. Terrifying.
Sorry to end on that awful note, but cannot keep my eyes open another moment.

And the sky is blue.
So is the sea.
Went out with DH early in the morning and sat on a bench. Wonderful.
Now I'm knackered.
I walked about 2 miles.
I will be resting for the rest of the day.

Tuesday -- I started a new job today.
So far it seems more to my liking than the job I've been doing for the past 6 months.
However, these first days are tiring. I am hoping this works out and I settle in and get comfortable.

Another quiet day doing induction stuff. I might start actual work tomorrow.
Quiet is very good.
I'll see what the work part is like soon.

Morning ladies
Slept pretty well again...have to find your niche I guess..
My friend Jay passed yesterday afternoon,I hope he is at peace and his family Jen and the boys can start healing..life for them will never be the same. So hard to be a widow at such a young age.
If they are having any services at all it will be down here in Connecticut as that is where he is from.. so I will go..
Today watching Mr wiggle worm... and hopefully going to see Homer.5 -
Allie- Sorry to hear of your friend's passing. Did your daughter's hours change? Are you watching Miles daily, now?
Tracey- Lovely pic of the kids on the bluff! AH...going to camp. I went to camp every summer as a child. The first year was so hard (I was seven), but by the end of the week, I was crying and not wanting to leave. Summer camp was a magical place, full of friends, adventures outside in the woods and on the lake, a campfire and songs every night...those were the best couple of weeks of my summers.
Heather- I hope you and Johnny feel better soon.
Beth- Happy belated birthday!
Rebecca- Wonderful pics of family!
Rita- Oh to be the hula dancer on your dashboard as you venture out into the alien festivities! lol What fun!
Machka- So...how is the new job going? Have you started yet?
Welcome to all of the new ladies!
Carla- I think the storm/rain that you got on the morning of the fourth, moved across the lake and got us in the evening of the fourth. I had my family here for dinner and we moved our party indoors, as the rain started just as I was putting burgers on the grill. All good. The rain let up around 8pm, so my brother and his family headed down for fireworks. The rain, thunder, and lightning started about 10 minutes into the show. Some amazing pictures of lightning were taken by locals.
I have a slightly smaller crew today, due to one family quarantining. Coincidentally, I just heard from my daughter yesterday, and both she and Joaquin tested positive on Monday. So, the whole family is home for the week/weekend. Joaquin is dealing with high fevers and body aches. DD said she just feels the exhaustion and congestion. Luckily my SIL is feeling fine and able to tend to the other two boys. Quarantining in the home isn't working so well, as two year old Miguel can open doors and five year old Joaquin doesn't want to stay in the bedroom with mama. Add baby Javier to the wanting/needing mama, and it is over. So...I imagine it will go through the entire family over the next couple of weeks.
I am up a pound from last week; which, to be honest, is not a surprise as I went off the "good choices" wagon a few times last week. Oh well, I am back on the wagon and will get the next pesky five pounds off.
I better get busy. Kids arriving soon. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

One of the places we like to cycle ... and where we cycled last weekend.

More fireworks last night that scared Bessie. First she went to lie on the mat in the bathroom then next to the bed and finally wanted to be in bed with me. I played my audio book for 30 minutes til the fireworks were over and we were able to go to sleep.
Allie,How is Carmine? I am reading a book by a man who was gender confused starting as a small child and how he was bullied and told to be different. I hope Carmine is getting love and support from their family and their teachers.
Lisa, we have been ordering our groceries online and picking them up curbside for a year and half and we find our shopping much more intentional with no impulse items jumping into the cart. We love it.
My walking partner is going on an adventure today so Bessie and I will go out together. Bessie will be disappointed but I'll be able to finish listening to my audio book (a cozy mystery).
Heather, We have a sign at our house that says "If you're lucky enough to live near the water, you're lucky enough". Your beach scene is fabulous.

Machka- So...how is the new job going? Have you started yet?
ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)
I started on Tuesday, so I've been there 2 days.
I'd been in the office 3 times (I think) prior to starting, so I had met several people and knew where I would be sitting. That's one thing I'm not very keen on ... we're kind of packed in and I'm closer to people than I like. However, we're moving to a different office building in September and I've seen the seating plan and it looks better. September is only 2 months away.
Everyone seems friendly and happy that I'm finally there! I was hired 6 months ago but was immediately seconded to a temporary position for about 6 months.
I've been making my way through induction material but I think I'll begin actual work tomorrow ... and then we'll see! I think I'm going to be busy and will learn a lot, but the little bit I've seen so far ... I think it'll be up my alley.
It is casual there which I'll have to adjust to after being in a more dressy, slightly more formal environment. But that's OK. I worked in Engineering offices for many years, and that was casual too. I'll have to build up my casual wardrobe again!
The last couple days, I've come home feeling exhausted and a little ... discombobulated, or something. I get that way when I start new things. Plus at the end of the financial year, I was swamped with several million emails in my various accounts (slight exaggeration, of course) so instead of resting I've come home and have been trying to pick my way through the emails to see what I actually need to deal with and what I can delete or file.
But I'd prefer to just lie down on the sofa!

Yesterday talked to the young man whose job it was to clean up the massive mess the people left behind after the fireworks. Turns out a group was shooting the fireworks at each other. Fortuantely no one got hurt. I didn't want to stay long anyway because of DrewB. I doubt I would have stayed long given how dangerous the people were acting. Such a shame in past years it was not so chaotic and dangerous. Some groups at least gathered their mess and put it by the trash cans.
I still think of some of the advice from the Safety Trap. In these times I think he is spot on. Being vigilant and becoming physically strong is your best defense. I just have to watch that I don't become hyper vigilant because that doesn't help either.
