Lisa- my son is like that- won't eat any meat on the bone, hates getting a piece of grissle, prefers to not eat most meats.
Walked with two of my zumba friends. Usually it is just Martha and I but tonight, Joel joined us- conversation was lighter than usual which was great distraction. Fun seeing all the wildlife
they weren't too thrilled to see the three garter snakes we saw along the way. Freaked a bit when I touched one.
Akushū is the name I am using for the new kitten- All of our cats have Japanese names. This name won't be his forever name but for tonight. It is. It means Stinky! He is little but boy does he know how to use the litter box-used from the night I brought him in.
Got my 10K steps tonight- feels good.
Home made pork fried rice for dinner
had my version of pho for lunch without the noodles

Hugs for those who need them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!

My friend G is in Paris, visiting with her granddaughter who is over from Singapore. Her son is CEO of a large section of a global company, so mega bucks. Can't resist posting this photo she sent me at 7 am this morning.
I know my friend would go to the ends of the earth for her granddaughter, but Paris will do!

Taking Leah for a walk last night we noticed a leak at the end of our drive not a good thing to see during the drought. Took ages to find the number to report the leak to Yorkshire Water, they said it could be 48hrs before someone came to check on it. I thought they would send someone straight away, but it's not as simple as that - is it ever!
A man arrived as DD was driving to work this morning to assess the situation. Wonder if it will get fixed today.
Met with my friends yesterday, we didn't go for a walk, but I was good and only had a pot of tea . It was good to catch up (I had to cancel my last coffee morning with them as I wasn't feeling well), but on the way home I felt quite depressed and sad for some reason. A severe case of FOMO, I had to give myself a good talking to. I've got myself into such a rut. Not sure how to explain it, but feel as if I only have them, but they all have other friends that they go out with etc (and husbands). I don't know, feeling a bit out of sorts with myself.
Time to get fit with Rick maybe that will put me in a better mood.
Take care and love to all

I don't like eating identifiable meat either!
And absolutely won't touch meat that is still red or pink or in any way not completely and utterly cooked.
Much of the time, I simply don't eat meat. Much less stressful that way.

@minicooper452: I'm glad Chug does well with his vestulin. My daughter gives Jax a treat when he gets his shot. When she goes back to school, I'll have to manage to give him his treat myself. He'll need to wait a few seconds between shot and treat.
Thanks for being such a welcoming group!
I had a diabetic cat for 9 years.
Got him when he was a young kitten.
He was diagnosed at age 7.
Vet told me to put him down because he'd be gone within 2 years. She'd never seen a diabetic cat last longer than that. I refused.
He lasted until he was 16 years old.
Our first week of shots was really traumatic for both of us, then we got into a routine. He would come to me and enquire about his shot if I was a little slow in giving it to him.

Viv UK-I can relate to FOMO (after I looked up what it meant!). It does feel at times we are on an island by ourselves. Most of my friends have husbands, and while we do our ladies group-they are usually tied up with family/husband. Or since many of them are retired (and I still work) they are engaged in other groups/activities during the day. I usually just give myself a bit of time to sing the blues and then go accomplish something (walk, clean something out, run errands). I have discovered that my friends who have the other stuff (like husband and kids still around) are at times jealous they don't have my freedom!
Very busy at work so far-eases off today. Go to an out of town meeting then I am taking off early to cover evening time at work stuff and Friday vacation most to the day because I need to use it. Relaxation starts today!
Take care all,

Good morning!
Lisa in the desert - I just skimmed through your posts but will make time to read them thoroughly. Your exercise routine, your pyrographer skills, way of life. I love reading about the happenings and environment where we are.
Mary- beautiful photos of the horse and your daughter's home. Loved the childhood photos. I ran across a few of mine the other day and looked at that young girl - wondered if she had any clue about the life she would live.
Viv - I too had to look up FOMO. I'm just so lucky to have a walking buddy neighbor who is a good friend and fills the void for me as far as human contact. The pandemic put a halt to so many social activities with friends, and with DH's progressive illness I was OK being a homebody and entertaining myself. I told my walking buddy yesterday that I can see myself becoming a hermit like DH was. And part of that might be from spending a lot of my life on a farm without people other than family around.
Heather - good for you getting your book published. Thank you for sharing the photos of your family visiting Slovenia! I had to look at a map- my dad visited Switzerland during WWII and took beautiful photos of the countryside, it looks similar. Have you ever been there?
Lovely to see all of the writers in this group!
Vicki - you have been on my mind since I read about your trip to the ER. Hope it gets resolved without your being back on meds.
Katla - so glad to see you check in. Did you say your daughter is remodeling their house or in some way making a place for you and your DH to stay on their property?
Lisa in Arkansas - looks like your weather is going to cool off for a while, whew - your temps have been murderous!
I think I mentioned I was going to try making Kefir and I'm hooked. I have a batch fermenting on the table beside this laptop right now and love the yeasty/buttermilky/yogurty smell. Looks like it is setting up and will be ready to put in the fridge before long.
There's a farmer who sometimes shows up on Saturday afternoons at the produce stand down the road, and I think he/she sells cheese and maybe milk. I am going to check it out this weekend. I would love a source for local milk.
I'm so grateful I can eat dairy. Milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, milk and now Kefir. My German parents and grandparents thrived on it and lived well into their 80's and 90's.
Fall/Winter weather predictions - Do any of you think we are going to have an early fall and perhaps harsh winter after broiling this summer? I hear crickets at night already - seems to me this is early.
Welcome newbies! So glad to see you contributing - you can see we talk not only about weight loss and health issues, but our kids, hobbies, work, furbabies, you name it. Over time, you'll find we get to know each other like family. Join in when you feel the urge.
So many more I want to comment on, hope to get back at it today.
Make it a fabulous day!

Lanette - The rain yesterday lifted my spirits, and they were starting to get a little down. I love cool rainy days. One of the reasons Corey and I left the High Chihuahuan Desert of West Texas is because we missed the rain, and were both kind of done with temperatures in the 100s for weeks on end. We went to Oregon first, but in all honesty, it's TOO wet for both of us (we lived in Coos Bay). I was developing web feet, I swear. Then we went back to West Texas for another three years. Arkansas is the happy medium. Warm summers, occasional snow in the winters, and mountains, rivers, and trees. Four seasons.
Unlike Corey, I also had four years prior to our marriage where I lived in the Mojave Desert. Well, technically--I lived in Las Vegas, which is in the Mojave Desert... Some people love it. While I recognize the stark beauty of the desert landscapes, the brutality of the weather wore on me. My mom was still alive, living in East Texas when I lived in Vegas. When I visited her, I would go outside in every rain shower and just stand there.
Sue in WA - I have seven chapters completed of the sequel to "This Little Pig," and I have had those done for nearly seven years now (no exaggeration). I simply don't know if I can ever step back into "Flak Be Nimble" (working title for the sequel), but also can't get past it, apparently and write any other fiction. Supposedly it's quite usual for fiction writers to stall on the second book.
My memoir, on the other hand, is done, and I need to go re-edit that sucker, update it and publish it. I need to re-check to make sure I won't hurt anyone who's still alive, or get me sued, among other things like copy edits.
Need to get outside while it's still cool out today and get a few things done out there.
Love y'all!
