Our dinner was wonderful. It's a recipe I used to make often, but somehow forgot about it. Lemon chicken with olives. We had it with rice and broccoli. The original dish is from North Africa and involves preserved lemons. :)

Nearly lost my temper with DH today, over the repair of the kitchen unit hinge. His repair did not work. Why won't he accept help, or even read the masses of articles on line on that very problem? I had to read out the results of my research . He was very resistant. We are going to try glueing cocktail sticks into the holes and then re-screwing. We need different screws with a pointy end and some wood glue. I have ordered the glue. I suggested taking the screws up to our local shop, called Nuts and Bolts, to find the exact size we want, but he said he would look at what he already had. :#:#:#

He really hates being 'helped'. I made various suggestions I had found online, including resiting the hinge, or getting an additional one, but he won't listen. Why won't he read, or watch, the help available? He also could pay for someone else to do it, we have lots of handymen in Hove but he seemed shocked when I suggested it. What is it with men's pride? The first thing I do is research online for help. He can't stand being told anything.
He went out for a walk this afternoon and is in a better mood. I am going to let him make his own bed and lie in it. >:)
I'm hoping the cocktail stick ruse will work. :#:*

Heather ~ I totally understand about your husband not wanting you to advise him or make suggestions as mine is exactly the same way. We have a bathroom shower tub water pull that I cannot get to pull out unless my husband does it for me. I have watched youtube videos that say how to fix it but he just ignores me. So, that tub is dirty until I get him to get the water running for me.

Debbie ~ Keeping all your cats fed and safe sounds like too much work. Those coons must be a huge bother. Hope the roommate will decide to leave your mom in peace. Loving on the kittens this weekend will be wonderful for you.

    Good morning ladies,

Do any of you take glucosamine/chondroitin supplements?

If so, are you taking liquid or pills and what's been your experience?

    Lanette B)

I have taken it in the past and it did help a lot, especially with the "popping" and "cracking." My joints felt better too. I could tell when I stopped taking it. I recently tried again (with all my knee issues) and it still helps my joints, but it also has a "gastrointestinal" side effect that I don't like. I think it's because I'm on a high protein diet and that and the glucosamine/chondroitin don't play well together in such quantities. I took the liquid. I haven't tried the pill form, but I have some in the cabinet and am going to try them.

Agreed with Ginny - I think it's a teensy bit of testosterone poisoning... They can no longer go club a sabertooth tiger and bring its fur back to keep you warm, so they try to fix things. When you say, "Maybe you should do it this way," he hears "That's the wrong club to kill a tiger, you need to take that one over there," and it all goes south.

If possible, when Corey picks up a tool, I go the other direction. I try to remember that I'd rather be married than right and start from there. He's slowly taught me that there actually is more than one way to skin a cat... er... sabertooth tiger. Unfortunately, I didn't learn it easily, and I forget it often.

Took me all day, but I successfully avoided writing anything, but got the bathroom scrubbed from top to bottom. Promised I'd make flatbread for tonight's taco night (we're both sick of tortillas), so more reasons not to write! Wooohoo!

    Love y'all,
    Later,
    Lisa

Kyle takes Miles out at night and in the morning to look at the moon and the stars ,shows him planes, finds the sun.. its so sweet..
Lisa - you are so sweet.. my place is small and lots of stuff piled in here, and I just sort of close my eyes to it all.. but it needs to get cleaned out and cleaned up.. and i will do it a little at a time and get help..
Thank you all.love each and every one of you..
I did stop and check Tom and Elena's ,they have the heat turned down and the water off while they are gone.. but just did a quick walk through to make sure all was ok..
They haven't heard a thing from the insurance adjuster and they have tried contacting them to no avail.. which must be unnerving
I did contact my medicare insurance and canceled that for the end of the month as my broker got me a better rate saving me 64.00 a month have it all set up for autopay.

Thanks ladies for your encouragement. I am still waiting for the Tricare referral nurse to call me, and we organize with the specialists. Its nice to be eating again, foods that keep me warm etc. I was so cold last week on broth's etc. Worried a bit that I haven't had a bm for 3 days, but maybe my body is just using most of my food up?

Machka-for some reason when you mentioned van noise a wheel bearing going bad came to mind. Could just need repacked.

The noise is quite high in the van. Our van is set up for camping and was set up that way when we bought it. So it has the white cabinet in the very back and a sofa seat and table in the middle. We've removed the sofa seat and table so that we can haul our bicycles, but we've kept the white cabinet because we use the van to support the cycling events we organise.

So far, my husband has checked the seatbelts back there and has removed everything from the cabinet. The noise is still there. To my ear, it sounds like wood squeaking against wood, so I think it's the cabinet itself. One day I might get back there and check all the screws.

Slowly recovering. Very tired this week. Spent good time with brother from Georgia. Even though they postponed brother's surgery, it was nice for the four of us to be together. Think the running around such as it was was a bit much. Still just working part time for a couple of more weeks. Did make it to the store this morning for some basics.

Hoping to have more energy tomorrow. Going to heat up some soup for dinner and do a bit of needlepoint.

    Take care all,

I’m planning to shop for a tooth brush for DH. This is a waterproof toothbrush, Waterpic brand. It is a battery charged, powered ossulating tooth brush. I hope I can find one.

    Heather,

I bet the cocktail stick hack will work! I have used wooden toothpicks very successfully for just this sort of repair - works extremely well, and it's cheap and easy.
