Heather - so happy you are feeling better.
Michele - I use acrylic, the snow is Duncan No Fire Glitter snow. You pounce it on.
Annie - Happy Birthday
Carla - isn’t it something how we can have adult children at that age. I still have a hard time saying I have a 33 and 31 year old.
I had a busy day, still sorting seed beads, but did stop for groceries and a short visit with a dear young cousin. She has two little girls one only 4 months old. They are both sweet. I had started laundry before I went for a visit and finished it when I came home.
I really wish we had 3 day weekends. I sort of did this weekend, I didn’t work Friday, but did spend 7 hours away from home to meet for the work Christmas party.
Tonight I have snacked too much. I’m going to head to bed to watch tv so I stop it.
Tracey in Edmonton3 -
Well here i am at 11:15 pm still awake.. my legs are aching..but that is from not moving enough, same with my hips and thighs..
Alfie is next to me snoring ,will miss him this week the little bugger..
I stepped on the scale tonight and in my nightgown and i weigh more than I ever have weighed in my life and on a 5' 2" frame thats not good..
Im hoping to get some walking in while we are at the Cape and they have the indoor pool so that can help a bit too.but really have to watch what im eating..5 -
Much better start to the week.
DH had his meds adjusted and is doing so much better.
Enjoyed singing in church today.
Had a long chat with a good friend today.
Furnace still working well at son's house. I do have new space heaters with great safety features. I plugged them in to gfi receptacles and made sure nothing blocking them. Also nothing else is plugged into the same receptacle. I learned that is I even move one when it is on it will shut down. So as long as there is electrical power good to go. If I had needed a new part over the weekend the technician told me it would cost $100 just to call the company to get the part. So good news it made it through the weekend.
Our weather is turning warmer this week and no snow. It will be nice to get a break from shoveling.
Tomorrow lunch with a friend and Tuesday lunch with a cousin.

Drkatiebug Im glad you are feeling better! Enjoy your time out tomorrow.
Allie I hope you have a wonderful time walking around at the Cape! Enjoy the pool as well.
Margaret It is good that your husband’s meds are working. Have fun with your friends at lunch. I remember when you and Gayle and I went to lunch together. That was a great time. She was on here a couple of months ago but I haven’t seen her since.

Cookies, chocolates etc. -- I am the type of person who eats one and saves the rest for later. To the point that, left on my own, I have had to throw things out because I have left them that long.
My husband is an eat it all sort.
When I have lived on my own, I have been quite slender. Living with someone, it's harder to be slender.
3 day weekends -- I love my 9-day fortnight's but would like to go to a 4-day week. However I am the wage-earner of the family so a 9-day fortnight is as good as it gets.
M in Oz3 -
Back to routine today.
Back to very healthy eating.
I'm making cauliflower and feta frittata for dinner. There's always enough for the next day's lunch. Need some frozen peas to add to it. I didn’t realise I'd run out. I also use broad beans and artichoke.
I really, really, really want to feel slim and strong. It was so easy to eat healthily on the ship. And get loads of exercise. I will visualise that state of mind. I am that person.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx6 -
Space heaters -- I have seen space heaters mentioned a few times. Be careful with those things.
I've had one burst into flame many years ago, and fortunately I was sitting right there and was able to put out the fire. Apparently they do that and cause thousands and thousands of house fires each year.
One of the first recommendations is not to leave them unattended.
We don't own a space heater and I would be very reluctant to have one.

Well heckums. Thought I had a bone-in turkey breast in the deep freeze, but when I went to find it to start it thawing, nope, nuthin’ Means I have to brave Freddie’s and hope they still have one in stock. Fingers Xd.
Welcome @hdmelrose! Would you let us know what you’d like to be calledyou’re your general locale?
Margaret ((hugs))
Tracey so sorry for your and Lauryn’s loss.
Rosemarie you’ve done all the prep, hope your son and DIL step up and to the serving and cleanup. Fingers X’d.
Allie was that Carmine smiling topping the tree? They have a lovely smile!
Michele (and Debbie and Machka and any with fresh skin wounds) my dermatologist recommended a thin film of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly applied after each gentle cleansing with fresh hydrogen peroxide. The peroxide cleans/sanitizes, the Vaseline protects and keeps just the right level of moist. Really helped my skin cancer surgery recoveries.

Right now, here in Tassie, we've got Kensington Pride which is all right. They seem to show up early so I usually have a few of them first.
But then Calypso mangoes appear, and that's the kind I go for during the rest of the season.
Last year, we got a huge variety about mid-season. If they appear again, I'm going to have to check the name. They were good but very big and very filling.
Regarding the glass method of scooping mangoes. It only works on ripe mangoes. I could never have used that method on the under-ripe, rock-hard mangoes found in Canada. The riper the mango, the more easily the skin separates from the flesh.
Papayas ... I like dried papayas, but I'm not overly keen on the fresh ones.
Machka in Oz
I never cared for fresh papaya until I started cutting my own. I don't know if it is something the other places put on the cut ones to keep them fresh or what, just had an odd taste to it. The ones I get whole taste so much better but have to be ripe but not over ripe. Mom said the same thing.
I got one yesterday- super great sale at just .49cents a pound at the 99cent store. It is green but will ripen. They do eat it green here too but I prefer mine ripe and sweet.Green is in a salad, like a slaw.
The only place I've had fresh papaya was from a market in Hong Kong ... and maybe also in Taiwan. It was whole and we cut it. However, given that it was the first time we had purchased a whole papaya, we may have chosen one that wasn't ripe.

Where they removed the skin tag is still itching like h***. Vince changed the bandage for me from gauze to band aids. But it’s still itching
Michele NCdlfk202000 wrote: »I totally know how you feel about the bandage itching- mine started itching really bad this afternoon while I was walking MIL's dog- took it off when I got home and letting it air out until I go to bed. Glad I am getting the stitches out tomorrow afternoon. I will find out then if he is going to freeze the rest off or if he plans on just leaving it and me just covering it with makeup.
Debbie
I've been told that when a wound starts itching, that means it is healing.
I've also discovered that I have an allergy to bandages, or the adhesive in bandages.
My under arm biopsy started itching like mad, so I tried the cool cloth method of easing the itching, and discovered, that it wasn't the biopsy itself that was itchy, it was the area around where the adhesive had been. Once I got that thoroughly cleaned off, it was better. That biopsy site is well on its way to being healed.
With the one on my hip, I've had to rotate the angle of the band-aid, every time I put a fresh one on. It still has a way to go but I was able to go to work today without a bandage.
My nose has been "out there" (no band-aid) all weekend and to work today for the first time since the biopsy. I thought about putting makeup on it, but the skin is still pretty fresh and a bit tender so I didn't.
3 weeks until the surgery on my nose and hip.

My specialist recommended the Vaseline Petroleum Jelly too. I bought a small container for the next phase of this process (the surgeries), but since I'm going to have my nose carved up and a larger chunk out of my hip, I figured ... why bother.
I have been putting Vit E lotion on the other biopsy spot.

30 Days of Gratitude
1. Smell - freshly cut grass on our lawn.
2. Technology - the amazing advancements in medical technology.
3. Colour - blue. Beautiful blue sky peaking through the clouds.
4. Food - soup. That's what I've been eating just recently because there's less chewing. We always keep a few cans of soup on hand for situations like these.
5. Sound - my music. I've recently acquired a number of nature sounds CDs with music playing along with sounds of ocean waves, birds, and so on. Lovely.
6. Nature - I love nature. It would be incredibly difficult for me to pick just one thing. I am so grateful that there is nature and that I can enjoy it.
7. Memory - Winter 2017. The last time I visited my parents and a wonderful 1-month holiday to Canada that June/July. My husband and I did two cycling events and a lot of other cycling. We climbed mountains and explored a glacier. We visited friends and family.
Memories:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/machka-bb/albums/72157682899188730
8. Book - Norman Doidge's The Brain's Way of Healing. I found it inspirational!
https://www.normandoidge.com/?page_id=1042
9. Place - home. I've moved and travelled a lot and home is wherever I happen to feel really comfortable. Right now, home is a certain house here in Tasmania where I can go and just be myself (mostly, for even a little while). Home is where I can lie down on the sofa and doze off when I've had a rough day, like I did yesterday.
10. Taste - salt. My favourite taste. On the one hand I need salt because of my exercise and medications, on the other hand I need to reduce my salt because of my kidneys. But given the choice, I'll usually go salty over sweet ... or maybe salty and sweet!
11. Holiday - Christmas!!!!
12. Texture - smoothness. I like smooth clothes, smooth sheets, Rhody's smooth fur ...
13. Abilities - I don't really think of myself in terms of having abilities. I've sort of thought of myself as "the jack of all trades, master of none". However, organisation is one that I've been thankful for throughout my life.
14. Sight - the beauty all around. In our yard, where we go cycling, where I work, and travelling around this island.
15. Season - I like the seasons in the following order from best to worst: Summer, Autumn ............ Spring ................... Winter.
16. What about your body are you grateful for? Healing ... that it heals. Mostly anyway, and perhaps imperfectly, but healing does take place.
17. What knowledge are you grateful for? Everything I do know. It all contributes to my work, my carer role, and my other activities.
18. Piece of art - of the arts, I think the two I appreciate the most are literature and music. On the subject of music, I have really appreciated discovering ABC Classic FM on the radio and the app on my phone. I pop in my earbuds at work and I can focus on my work while feeling relatively relaxed at the same time.
19. Touch - Rhody's fur, his little wet nose, his whiskers
20. Who in my life - my husband. I'm glad he is still in my life. My parents who have always been supportive.
21. Song - He Is -- Mark Schultz. One of several songs that has been with me through the difficult times.

Morning ladies
Still catching up. I'm waiting or the car to be collected for its MOT. I hope it passes, it probably needs a lot doing to it, but keeping fingers crossed it will not be too expensive. We could really do with a new(er) car, but the prices have shot up for second hand cars in the last few months.
My mum is feeling a little better, not sure if I mentioned that she was having a nosebleed every few days. I called the doctor and he thought she had a chest infection and a cold and thought that's what was causing the nosebleeds. They were a bit worrying because they lasted so long, thank goodness they seem to have stopped now.
Best wishes to everyone celebrating birthdays, anniversaries etc that I have missed. Hope you had a good time celebrating.
I'm supposed to be meeting friends later this morning, but it will depend on what time the car is picked up. It was a last minute invite to see the Christmas decorations at the Treasurers House and then go for coffee.
I'll go back to catching up whilst I'm waiting.
Take care and love to all

Margaret-medications can make a difference for a person. Glad your DH has things straightened.
Heather-so happy you and Johnny ended up having a good anniversary. You sound like such a cute couple!
Beth (and any others in the area)-good luck with continued cleanup. I certainly don't miss the Noreasters we used to get when I lived in Maine-especially the norther part. It taught me that it is ok to not fight nature, stay home, and come out when safe.
DrKatie-nice to hear your life is getting back on track.
Annie-Happy belated birthday!
Definitely agree that wounds itching is a sign of healing, but it can be very annoying!
I also noticed with my hip replacements and all of the trips to orthopedics offices that many of the patients are obese. It is interesting the military puts weight limit on them, but I also understand why. I had thought a hip group I joined during the process mentioned that in other countries they also required a weight loss.
I also am sick if the extra roll. I see my doctor December 1 and am hopefully released for increased exercise. I have only been doing walking since surgery. I have added carrying two pound dumb bells while walking. I am avoiding any other lifting and stretches until I talk to him. It surely doesn't take long for muscle tone to fade!
Short work week-off Thursday and Friday. Not doing anything for Thanksgiving day but will pick up oldest son at airport-he is flying on for Ohio State Michigan game Saturday. Youngest and wife have season tickets-oldest has airline points. Youngest had been scheduled to work on Saturday. That has changed but they kept the main plan the same. The youngest and I will watch game from their house and cook a Thanksgiving dinner for post game. Then take oldest back to airport very early Sunday!
Off to get ready for work. Enjoy Monday. Take care all.

Ginny - Sounds like you have a good plan for enjoying your children's company.
Yes, I think we are cute too. Most of the time.
Strange morning. We did our exercise session. Then I resumed my book writing. It's mainly a poetry collection, from my whole life, with added biographical notes for context.
Today I started the section on my baby Kate, who was stillborn in 1978. There are four poems. I wrote an intro and have typed out two of them so far. Takes me right back to that time. Oh, how I loved her.
So, I feel a little bit rocky, but I am glad to be reminded of the love. Love is never wasted.

Good Monday, all... it was a lovely, lazy weekend, though I did get 20 minutes in on the elliptical yesterday. Today will be the step and a little work with weights, I think.
Lanette - I feel some of the unexpected benefits of it, too. When I was putting my tea together this morning, I could feel the arm work yesterday from the big elliptical. My arms desperately need toning; you can blow out candles with my arm flaps these days.
These last few months have been like waking up from a long slumber and finding an old lady's body replacing my middle-aged one. My skin has simply slid down my body all willy-nilly.
I do not approve.
I've done too much studying on the subject to believe you can lose fat in specific places with specific exercises, but I do know you can tone the underlying muscle structure and make things look better. So, while I'm working on the step today, I'll be using small weights.
No plans here for Thanksgiving--neither of us are fond of turkey, so that's not a thing. No kids/grandkids coming our way that we know of, but Corey will get four whole days off so he'll probably decide on a project to do. Because he's a procrastinator, he won't decide until Thanksgiving Day, however. I'm OK with that. Always interesting.
Off to read the Internet... I let my computer install Microsoft 11 last night, and things have been moved around, so I'll have to go find my stuff on my system.
Later,
Love,
Lisa in AR

Lisa - thank you, your post kicked me into action. Grabbed the weights and got the arms done, then another session on the elliptical.
Lower back a little touchy this morning - all that lifting and carrying finally catching up with me. Thank goodness it's loosening up though.
Just in time for my "shopping experience" at Walmart, Home Depot, Grocery Outlet and Safeway this morning. Glad the temps are above freezing this morning, roads not slick. I can deal with a little rain.

M space heaters have come along way. Yes ideally you do not leave them unattended. What can cause fires with the new ones is putting them on an extension cord, putting them near curtains or a combustible, putting another high current drawing appliance on the same outlet.
I am doing none of the above plus they are on outlets that are GFI's. GFI's will cut the current if they sense a problem. I do have one in basement that is non GFI. It is on concrete and nothing is around it that can catch fire. As I also said the newer space heater will shut off if they are anyway moved when they are on.
Yes it is a risk but for how I am using them it is very small.
They are also set to only go on if the house drops under a certain temp that will mean I will deal with pipes that freeze and a refrigerator that will shut down. They will not go on unless the furnace stops working.
The older space heaters did not have these safety features.5 -
Margaret - do your little space heaters have thermostats and if so, what make/model are they? Sounds like you are using them safely, good job!
I have the neatest little gadget for the greenhouse, called a Thermocube. It turns on at 35f and then off when temp reaches 45f. I wish they made them to turn on at 40f and off at 45f. I don't want the main part of the shop getting down to 35f - likely colder near the doors. I'll keep looking.
