Heather you did the right thing. Maybe she was more miffed at her cold than at you. I know when sickness interferes with my plans I get irritated at being sick.
Just had another mango smoothie. Seems to be working well. Yay!

Lisa - When you fly to Hawaii to visit, plan a plane change in San Francisco and I'll drive to the airport and visit, or take you and Corey out for a meal between flights.
smiles Kim in N. California
What a wonderful invitation, Kim! Right now, I'm still not in shape to fly. Long flights in particular make me flinch at the thought. I still have to be within a few seconds of a bathroom at least a dozen times a day. That's down quite sharply from a year ago when it was 25 or more times a day so there's that. I have my hopes this will get better in the months to come. I've not been to Hawaii, though Corey went during his previous life.
Heather - Sounds like things worked out with your DSIL. Perhaps humanity will come to realize that the easiest way to refrain from spreading germs is to not be around other people when you're ill.
Got the laundry done yesterday, the vacuuming done today, refrained from buying a knock-off Roomba Robot Vacuum for $99, resisted the temptation...
Love y'all,

Yes, Lisa, she said she would once have struggled in to work, but now knows she is not invincible!
DH is 77 and I feel a bit protective.

Good that DSIL called you! I am relieved you put your foot down to say its not alright. I am protective of my husband too!💖👍🏻

Evening friends
Its a little after 5 pm here.Im in jammies and fed Alfie
Trying to figure out a grocery list...
Im craving a warm gingerbread cookie and cup of cocoa..
And im missing the nostalgia of yesteryear..4 -
Worked and then the soup kitchen. Nothing real exciting. Just work tomorrow and then I lector at the church.
Tracey – is that the no fire snow on your ornaments?
Christmas drive: don’t ask me to explain this, but I have absolutely no drive to write out the Christmas cards. Me...the person who was stringing the popcorn in May...has no desire to write out the cards. It really only takes a few hours. Maybe what I should do is send a card to someone only after they send one to me. I don’t know
Lanette – I never thought about it, but you’re right, walking alone is relaxing to me. I can stop and chat with a neighbor and I don’t have someone behind me saying “can we go yet”, I can stop and look at a plant if I so desire. Yes, these are some of the reasons I like to walk by myself.
Barbara – the Roomba wouldn’t knock the trees over, but it would try to go where they are. Honestly, it isn’t worth reprogramming them for one month. I can get by vacuuming for the month. Brushing Tumble certainly sounds better than those other projects you had
“Merry Christmas to me, Merry Christmas to me”. I just got a call from our doctor’s office. When I saw the name on the caller ID, I didn’t remember going for any test that I needed the results of, and to my knowledge Vince didn’t either. I didn’t call them with a question and need a call back. Well….it seems that every month they had a drawing for those who did the Medicare wellness and I won for the month of November. I won a $50 gas gift card. With the price of gas, we can take Vince’s SUV and use up the $50 in one swoop...lol So Merry Christmas to me!!!
Cleaned the kitchen and sunroom floors. I swear, we must have the dirtiest floors in Newton. Still haven’t heard from Jess when she’s supposed to be here. Oh, Barbie, she wants to bring them here because she doesn’t have room to put them up. It’s not a big deal. Fortunately, I have most of the things (cleaning, food bought) from the last time they were supposed to come. So I’m not stressing any more. I made desserts that Vince will eat if they don’t come
Jess just called. Seems Teresa and her kids (still not sure if her husband is with them or not) will be here around 11. Jess think she and Colby will be here earlier, but she’s not sure. Teresa had to wait until the kids were out of school (no surprise here)
Cindy – “hi”. We own a condo in Titusville.
Rita – those trees are gorgeous. Is that one you made?
Heather – you made the right call. Perhaps she is relieved. Now she can really rest.

Welcome December. I can't believe how quickly you've arrived!
Wish I had some list to follow and post like last month. That was just wonderful. Thank you to whomever shared that. Off to work in my cave. Have a great Thursday.
Love and Blessings, Carla, in MN
That was me.
There is this one:If you're interested in the Action for Happiness Calendar ...
Do Good December
This month, we're encouraging you to carry out small acts of kindness.
Or we could post something we're thankful for, or happy about, related to the holiday season.
December 1 - I love the Christmas music. Come December 1, that's almost all I play. Christmas music or classical music (when I have to think at work or when we're in the car).
December 2 - Christmas decorations! We're lagging behind a bit because I usually like to decorate on December 1. But we got the decorations upstairs on Dec 2. Today I'll rearrange furniture and make a start.
December 3 - Summer. My favourite season. And we are finally having a few days of decent weather after a very wild and woolly spring. That's not saying the good weather will last (thanks La Nina) but there should be more of it.
Just saw your post, Barbara ...Aha, finally found a December daily gratitude calendar.

Will have to go back for another one every six months for the next five years. Two spots I asked him about were fine- one is eczema which is what I had been treating it as(base of my neck/hair line-started after I lost half my hair due to covid) and the other he said was a "Maturity spot"- a nicer name for age spot.
Tomorrow I meet with the plastic surgeon for consultation and set up the date to have the one spot removed.

I was tested several years ago and it was determined that I'm 55% right handed and 45% left handed, which is in the ambidextrous range.
But the physiotherapist who did the testing also mentioned that most people do use both. Very few people are 90-100% right handed or left handed. It's probably a bell curve situation where most fall into the middle somewhere.
I'm the type of ambidextrous who doesn't have equal skill with both hands but who uses my right hand for some things and my left hand for others. For example, I discovered that I play golf and hockey lefthanded. I also, apparently, hang my clothes left handed (used to drive my mother crazy with that).
I can write and draw with both hands, but need to practice the left one more. I remember practicing writing and drawing with both hands when I was young, like 5 or 6 years old.
When I write or draw left handed, it helps to "think upside down".

Will get started on a few Christmas cards after exercise this morning. I don't write my book at the weekend. DH, annoyingly, does, so I can't get started on any major cooking downstairs. I will cook 18 gluten free stuffing balls for Christmas after lunch.
I haven't got to buy croissants and pain chocolat for guests but I will still pop out for the gorgeous focaccia they have on Saturday.
Our utility room door latch, a roller latch, decided to jam recently, (I rescued it with a covid mask! ) so DH took it off yesterday. I have the door wedged shut now with some felt, but I gave the old latch a good squirt of WD40 last night, so we shall see if there's any improvement. If not, Amazon have loads, but I will have to measure to make sure it fits into the old hole.
I rang my old uni friend yesterday, A, who lives in Wales. Just a few days ago her oil tank sprung a leak. She reckons 1,000 pints of heating oil went into the ground. Terrible smell. The remainder was drained off at great expense and the concrete had to be demolished and hauled away. Now they have to pay a fortune for a new tank, arriving on the 15th, and meantime are living in a big, cold house, huddled round the fire in the living room.
She sounded cheerful enough!!!
Plus all her upstairs Velux windows are in the process of shattering. Bad batch, apparently. Velux are replacing them at no charge, but it was a bit disconcerting to find shards of glass on the floor. Luckily, they weren't in the bathroom when it happened!
And to think I was annoyed at having to replace my washing machine!!! (Which is wonderful, by the way. I love my new one.)
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx2 -
Lisa, too bad it's not Kelsey's ex that's going to Hawaii, although the kids will love it there, I'm sure!
Tracey, I hope you do well at your craft fair!
Well, this is bad, I just read three pages worth of posts and these are the only two that I can remember enough to comment on..... sigh.
It must be a sign! lol
I have been feeling a bit off for a few days, some digestive upset and just general blech. Decided it was better for me to relax than to get to the gym, but I was feeling good this morning (and yesterday) so off I went, did a really good workout and quite enjoyed it. Then started feeling ugh again.... Started cleaning house and while I didn't get everything done that I wanted to, I did get the bedding changed and the bathroom cleaned out. Every 7-8 weeks I take everything out of the shower and off the counter and do a deep clean, today was the day! I also got down on my hands and knees and washed the floor in there! Vacuumed too, of course. I regret that I didn't get any other cleaning done, (well, dishes, but they don't count as it seems they are always needing doing), but I am glad that I got that bathroom cleaned, it was getting dusty!
It's late and I'm tired, so congrats to those celebrating, hugs for those needing them and welcome to the newbies!

Saturday -- a really nice day.
Sleep
Relax
Vacuum
Garden
Beach Walk
Pizza
James Bond
Christmas Decorations
I like to vacuum the house before I put up the Christmas decorations. When I decorate, I like things to be reasonably clean.
I'm getting close to finishing my dry stream trench! I was out weeding and then digging for about 2 hours.
And it was just too nice a day ... I had to walk to the beach!
I'm eating pizza while watching James Bond with Christmas decorations all around.

The houses in our neighborhood have lights on a pole in front of them. There is a power outlet at the top of the pole so lots of people have plugged in a string of lights and wrapped it around the pole. Many of them are on in the morning when I walk. I told Jake that I liked seeing the lights in the morning and of course, he wanted to know if I wanted the same thing in our yard. I said I didn't. When we went to Home Depot on Thursday I looked around the holiday lights section while Jake got what he wanted and realized that the biggest reason I don't want lights is "decision fatigue". There were so many brands, sizes of bulbs, lengths of strings, and color variations that I was exhausted just looking at them. Next I thought about the time in the cold to put them up and take them down and realized that if I had the energy and inclination to put up lights, I could use that same energy to clean up the branches that the wind keeps throwing in the yard. I'm happy that others want to take on the task, but it's not something I want to do.

I did the cards that go to the people who I never speak to year round, but enjoy getting Christmas cards from with an update. I reckon that, if I get mine to them early, then they will respond in kind. DH has posted them off when he went on his walk.
Then I wanted to nap after lunch, but someone had to be awake for the wine delivery from our local off-licence. DH was out. So I elected to make the stuffing balls before my nap Instead of afterwards. Wow! What a lot of work! Much more than I had anticipated. Now they are in the oven cooking. Smell good! I made 14 balls.
Next to row for 20 minutes.
Then nap.
Machka - DH writes novels that could loosely be described as historical/detective. They are the Winfreth series. His name is John Ward. There are around 7 in the series and another on the way. The first one was 'The Glint of Silver'. They are set in the Anglo-Saxon period in England. King Alfred. The hero is a feisty young woman.
Stuffing cooked!

Good morning ladies!
My Christmas shopping is almost done. Just a few more things for the stockings...and then my dad signed up to buy stuff for the church. Looks like about fifteen items total, and he wants me to to go to Walmart on a Saturday in December to find the items. No thank you. I would at least wait until Monday. But still it irritates me that he feels free to sign up for things I have to do for him. It's not even my church.
Otherwise, things are going fine. It's a warm and rainy day but I might walk in the basement later. And then read some. I'm stuck on a book I don't much like, so it's time to skip it and move on. Has anybody read the Agatha Raisin books by M C Beaton? That's what I'm thinking about for my audiobook endeavor. Nice and light.
Now to figure out how to do it without subscribing to Audible. I have a fear of subscriptions that goes back to the days of music for a penny. Remember that? And then they charge you every month and won't let you cancel.
So enjoy the day, my friends. Here's hoping you all eat well and exercise, as part of a marvelous day!
