Lanette- Destiny's spirits remain high most of the time(from what her mom posts).
In May, it will be two years she has been battling this terrible disease.
This is her right after her original diagnosis. He has had a few months in remission but those times don't last long enough.
We are just praying that the new treatment gets rid of it for good.

You could call my dumbbell routine "lite" strength training. I use four pound dumbbells and two pound ankle weights. I lift them in various directions, currently twenty reps, which isn't much at that weight. I was doing forty reps last year ...(sigh).
I was breathing a little fast just climbing the stairs today, so I really ought to do more of that. Just got done horseback riding, and that went well.

Spent the last few hours installing my self-inflicted Christmas present, a bidet seat with a night light, a heated seat, warm water on demand and a blow dryer. Ironically, it has been a complete pain in the posterior to install.
I am nearly finished. Only one connection is still oozing a tiny drop or two, but when you're hooked up to electricity, leaks are not an option. This is replacing my exercise time for today, it's pushing me past exhaustion. Just need to go find a crescent wrench in the outside shop. The one in my purple-handled "women's toolbox" set is too small to go around the nut. Guess men just have bigger nuts. Pun completely intended.
Love y'all,
Later,

Big day for the new members of the family. On December 24th I let them sleep outside of the crate but I left the crate up just in case I saw any accidents during the night. They’ve been good so I had kirby put it away. NO MORE CRATE FOR THEM!!

Did Katina Hunter’s Interval Party DVD then took Jerry home and went to WalMart for a few things, bought gas, then volunteered at the Green Room then stopped at the Humane Society’s thrift store to donate some cat food that we’d had. Making avocado brownies for Vince right now only I “accidentally” won’t mention the avocado.
Tracey – what sort of painting technique are those socks used for at ceramics? Your father was so talented! Love the hope chest and bowl
kylia – we had so many cat toys, it wasn’t even funny. When Vince left to help Jess move to Iowa, somehow the cat “got sick” on the toy and, boo hoo, it had to be thrown out….lol Lately, I seem to be being more of the minimalist whereas Vince keeps everything “just in case”. Some things I really have to talk him into letting me throw it out. Like we had a bag of charcoal briquets, we hadn’t used them in the 12 years we lived here and I don’t see when we’d use them. Vince didn’t want to throw them out. I finally told him that if we needed them, we’d just buy more. Really, we’ll never need them.
Lanette – usually I do a strength training DVD on Tuesdays. It’s with a barbell, and to be honest, I’m too cheap to buy a complete set. It would probably be at least $1,000 if not more. Plus, it takes up too much room. Anyway, I don’t like to use the machines. To me, they’re good for rehab. But I think they isolate the muscle too much. Like when you’re doing biceps, you’re sitting. If you’re standing, you’re also using your abs some. But I do think that the one machine that’s worth it is the pull up one. I have free weights at home and do them also. Just not at the gym
Lisa – I’m so glad Cory had a supervisor to be sure he did things right!
Pip – good news at the doctor’s
Soup kitchen tomorrow. It’s funny, I have my gym bag(s) (yes, plural, one for strength training and another one for cardio) and then my craft bag that I take to the Green Room then my bag with my shirt for the soup kitchen and anything else that I may need there.
Vicki – what is the New Step?
Katla – sounds like you have a good plan
Debbie – I have no doubt that Destiny’s spirits are high. She’s such a trooper
pip – yea for no more crate!!! I bet the babies are thrilled
Gonna get ready for bed and then maybe watch some TV

Another storm is starting to hit us now. Huge one hit last night. No damage for us but a friend from high school posted these pictures of her house and barn. Said if she had been sleeping or doing her crafts in the barn at the time, she wouldn't be typing today. She lives north of us, in Mendocino County, north of Booneville.
Mom will be fine during all these storms. She may get stranded at home but she is well prepared. Doesn't mind just hanging out at home. This happens most winters. Some are just worse than others. Usually there are three ways for her to get into town- Windsor to the south, Geyserville to the north or straight into town. Some times there are options, other times, just sit and wait for the water to go down.
She has a creek in the back of her property but far from the house. Just hope it doesn't go over the well. If it does, she knows how to treat it when the water goes back down. Been out on that property for almost 50 yrs now.
They are saying another two weeks of rain. Hopefully we get some breaks in between.
We really do need the rain and at least for now, I don't have to go out in it much(we did go out and do a little shopping, our usual on Thursday beings I am off and he gets paid and has to pick up his check)
Got one pair of rainboots out and will pull my other ones out this evening.(one pair is not as waterproof as they should be but they are fleece lined)
May be getting two more cats temporarily- son's girlfriend and her family have to move out of their old place today and the new one that her brother is buying isn't ready yet. Not sure how it will go having two more(possible three but the third may be an outside cat(didn't know she had a third, we already took two of her's last time she moved. One is inside, for now but her brother is outside because he wouldn't stop peeing on everything, especially my side of the bed). Son said he will keep her two cats in his room. We will see how that works out.
Went to Walmart- haven't been there in months. DH needed something there. Hit the Christmas clearance. Love that they add all the snowflakes/winter stuff to it- 75% off. Got some cute craft supplies to keep my daycare girl busy. Winter is far from over so I have time to use them up before we switch to spring. Got some at 99cent store too.

Katla - you will miss watching the river and its critters but this sounds like a good option.
Lanette - I do some strength and balance training suggested by my PT. I use 3 pound hand weights and a 10 pound kettle bell. Also some are just body weight.
Lisa - glad Bella made it home.
Michelle - NuStep is a recumbent stepper. It is used a lot in rehab in the midwest. I have not seen a single one out here in the PNW but used one in Sioux Falls to rehab both knees. It is also used there for pulmonary and cardiac rehab.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA3 -

I miss Oregon, but I’m doing well enough most of the time. I miss my neighbors and friends, especially my teaching friends who I’ve known for many years. ❤️6

Today's feast:
Wilted spinach, cottage cheese, onions and mushrooms sauted, in a nice marinara sauce with diced tomatoes, some cut up meatballs, and cheesy ravioli. It was delightful. Dessert was sugar free dark chocolate, a sugarfree coconut chocolate piece, prunes and a fig Newton with coffee. Very satisfied.
My son sent photos that his wife got a crested baby gecko lizard. So they have quite a menagerie of dogs, fish, snails, shrimp and a lizard. Oh and Athena!😂💖

Way behind (again)!
KarenAurora is gorgeous!
Katla-congrats on DH getting released. Good luck on house sale plans. It is tough but it seems like it is good you being close to family.
@bananasandoranges -Julie-great to hear from you!
Pip-going cage free is great! Kind of like the way we celebrated when boys no longer needed nighttime diapers (getting rid of diapers was like a pay raise!)
Too tired to remember much more and didn't take notes-caught up reading to relax.
Discovered yesterday, according to opthamalogist, I do not have eye infections. I have scleritis which is an inflammatory condition. They are not sure what causes it, they think related to underlying autoimmune/inflammatory disorder. Treatment right now is steroid drops every two hours. May have to use oral steroids. Can last for months. Can have recurrences. Can have some bad effects if not handled. Well, at least I have something with an interesting name! There are much worse things in life. As I tried working today (eye still painful) I thought "Why are you doing this? You don't have to work." Yep-the end is in sight.
Daily list:3 Let go of at least 5 items in your house-I have two boxes of "stuff" I packed up before my surgery that I haven't been able to get out of house due to lifting restrictions-they are going to Goodwill Saturday
4 What was your favorite Christmas gift? (this year or ever)-youngest son got me a blue topaz necklace several years ago that I just love
5 Move for at least 30 minutes today did my 3 mile walk today-so that got me 70 minutes.
Off to get some sleep.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

Gray and miserable weather here today. Ran some errands. Paid some bills ... with checks Machka... otherwise told to use a credit card??? We're having leftovers for dinner which no one is too excited about. I'll be in bed early.

Ginny sorry to hear about the scleritis. Hope it passes quickly!
Pip glad your dog family is doing so well. You take good care of them!
I did my dumbbells Yay! And I ate well today. Yay! And little Teddy is recuperating from having his teeth pulled. We are listening to the rain together.
Tomorrow is a busy day- groceries, tea with my aunt, call the insurance for my dad, and pay a bill that I keep forgetting. I better set some reminders. That's the only way I can keep up.

Michele: Great that your town has a Humane society that will take pet food!
Debbie: Nice picture of Destiny with the animals. I am praying for her.
GodMomKid: Certainly hope the weather improves
Vicki: Great your getting to the gym!
Tracey: The hope chest and bowl are beautiful!
Lanette: My new DIL is Hispanic and my son works on his Spanish. My language is to play around with Mandarin because I like the calligraphy that goes with it. I haven't done it this past year, but do have a Coursera course I could return to and start again.
Tina: Great you are so active! I am rather jealous! I am mostly homebound these days....but no excuse...I could move more in the house!
Grandmallie: We had a green car for my son when he was around the same age as Miles. We still have it in the storage room!
Kylia: I hope the MD's can get your migraines under control!
Katla: I think it is a good, practical decision to stay near your daughter. I have a friend here who has no family near by and has respiratory issues. She doesn't want to leave her friends, but whenever she gets sick one of the children must come. I know that no matter where my son finally lives, I will probably eventually move closer to him.
Good day today. I got together with some church ladies. Then my husband and I watched an episode of Yellowstone together. I really like having the couch near his wheelchair so we are closer together. This Sunday is his birthday so I will go out tomorrow and get a card and some balloons. I am not sure what he can really still eat, but am trying to think of something I can put in the blender. My son will come this week end. This will be the third week end he has come!
Best,
