@itladyee Know what you mean about resisting an offer. I like your signal system. I think I need to try something like that. I accepted an offer on Sunday (my weak day) that I was prepared to resist but still did not.
@MissMay You are kicking butt!
Happy Friday. AF so far this week, although tempted several times. Strangely, I was least tempted at a party last night where wine (one I like) was served and everyone around me was having it. I had a diet Dr. Pepper and actually felt happy with that. The friend who invited me came after me, asked what I was having then said she would get something soft too. It seems like a few in my friend group are gravitating towards weeknight AF. Why would I feel tempted in my own home but not when around other drinkers? It makes no sense.5 -
Goals for JuneSelf-care and positive vibes ~ One day at a time
Zig-zag calorie count - Daily Average 1400
Success = No more than two glasses of wine per night. Bonus Points for ZERO!
Current Streak - AF = 3 ~
6/8 AF ~ Yipee! 💚
Treadmill + my outside walk. Almost didn't get the extra walk in as I had a project given to me when I normally would head out but I got it in. Low calorie day, still in range, wth 15 calories to spare! Water above goal!
I plan to have a drink(s) this weekend (Friday or Saturday) but I'm excited about it as it's something different that might just "work". Funny, I was looking at my saved recipes in MFP and I ran across a "Low Carb Sangria". I do not recall making this before but it's 160 calories for 17 ounces (so 3+ 5oz glasses of "wine").
4 oz cabernet (or red of choice)
1 oz vodka
4 oz of diet 7up or sprite
8 oz of peach flavored water (0 calorie)
Success Days # 3
Bonus Days # 3This resonates. For many years, I felt like some foods were off limits or special occasion. Looking at the cold hard calories, however, I realized I have room for them (and enjoy cooking them) especially when not making room for the alcohol calories.
@ahoy_m8 ~ great job at the party and passing on the wine! I think we are more comfortable at home, because less inhibition or fear of judgement from others....imo
The Month recap to stay accountable
6/1 A ~ Husband was excited as he had been off pain meds long enough to have a cocktails. He made pomegranate sours. Tasted really strong and really sweet to me since I had not had one in quite a while.
I've got to get it through my thick head....alcohol ruins weight loss....maybe I need to get out my paper and write it 500 times...
6/2 A ~ I got nothing!
6/3 A ~
6/4 A ~ Moody today. Wine all weekend while watching Netflix shows. Bored too... can't wait for vacation! I've really got to focus on getting that "substitute" drink in my hand as soon as I get in the door.
6/5 A ~ He made pomegranate sours again .
6/6 AF ~ Yipee! 💚
Came home, immediately poured by ICE/juice! I noticed that this signals my husband to not offer me a drink, cuz for some reason, I can't say no to an offer....
It was actually a good day all around. I get on the treadmill every morning (M-F) for 30 to 45 minutes. Monday and yesterday, I went out side for lunch for an extra 30 minute walk. I was under my calorie budget and stopped eating by 8pm. Consumed 80+ ounces of water but downside, was up a lot for bathroom breaks.
6/7 AF ~ Yipee! 💚
Another good day. Treadmill + my outside walk. Low calorie day and was still in range, even though I had some Ruffles potato chips (another weakness). Consumed 64oz of water which resulted in less bathroom trips. Scale was favorable!
It's so weird. There are days when I think I just can't be AF, then when I accomplish the task, it's really not so bad🙂
Kinda like exercise! :wow:

Just a quick update on getting my second job.
I had info from a friend that they were looking for evening servers at a retirement home.
I went in right away to apply.
No tips, but more per hour ($21.50) plus full benefits including Dental and yearly raises.
(tips can be an additional $5-$25 per hour btw).
This will look better for the bank, since they don't take cash into consideration as revenue.
The interview went very well and I was moved on to the next stage, references, which has been done.
The next stage is the Criminal Record Check which I was told would take 3 weeks on average.
In the meantime I have picked up a few Brand Ambassador jobs. I have one today after work, giving out samples of Mike's Hard Lemonade new flavours. It pays $25 per hour for 4 hour shifts. So I will make an extra $100 today.
Keeping the Indian restaurant job during the day, and my big discount there lol.7 -
Thanks for keeping us going @MissMay : - )
I am Dawn, I live in South Eastern British Columbia.
I joined this thread in November of 2018, a daily drinker at the time
My primary goal with drinking less is weight loss.
My usual goal is 16-20 AF days for the month,
I had 18AF days in May.
I do this diary style, I normally post the next morning.
Wednesday June 07 - 2 drinks. Planning AF until Sunday night since I will be working extra shifts throughout my usual days off. 3 of 12 workdays in a row completed.
Thursday June 08 - AF - I have been getting out to do yard/garden work early in the mornings before work since it has been too hot by the time that I get off of work. Lots to do still.
Rolling total: 4AF day out of 8 days.2 -

Good to see new people join the thread and miss other LA friends who are maybe taking a little break from here. Congrats on all the good choices people are making too.
I absolutely used to skip the good food (and carbs) for the A calories but no more — started losing weight when I ate a more balanced diet including bread and potatoes along with LA - took me awhile!
Planning for some wine this evening, I waited until Friday!

@dawnbgethealthy the job at the senior retirement home sounds terrific and I am sure the folks living there would love to see your smile each evening.
After a hectic week with lots of meetings and waiting until Friday, had my planned red wine last night . My evening was interrupted a few times with other family issues popping up so my 2 plus 1 was a rather discombobulated experience instead of calm and relaxing. On top of that I woke with leg muscles cramps twice! I have been walking a lot and need to remember to stretch when finished.
Today, I am packing for a mini get away with DH this week and planning ahead for plenty of hiking, reading, swimming and maybe a day or two with bubbly, just not today.

Sounds like a great job! hope you get it! And the brand ambassador is a sweet gig as well!3 -
I love catching up with all of you on this thread! You’re all doing great!
2 glasses of wine Thurs, three 😳 on Friday night at home, and 1.5 last night, plus a High Noon on the boat. Today we are golfing with friends, but my back is still really tight so I’m just going to ride around in the cart. I’ll have a glass of wine with them at lunch, but that will be it for the day. I definitely notice I’m sluggish the next day when I have that 2nd drink!
We sailed yesterday, and I think I figured out why my hip and right lower back is so tight. It’s bracing myself when I’m steering the boat. Yesterday was nice wind (6 knots) but then we had gusts up to 18 knots which is WAY past my comfort level. So it wasn’t enjoyable at all.
Oh and get this! We went to anchor the boat at the shoal like we normally do. I throw the anchor overboard and then wonder why we’re still drifting. Pull on the line to reset the anchor, and lo and behold, the rope failed and my anchor is now at the bottom of Barnegat Bay! Ugh!!!! We should have checked the rope. Not sure if a little mouse started chewing on it over the winter, or what, but I had to do the walk of shame to the Marina and pay a “stupid tax” of $100 to buy a new anchor, rope, chain, etc. I did have a good laugh over it! Egads.5 -
@Womona funny anchor story! I’m sure others have been in the same ‘boat.’ Hope you back feels better soon.
Checking in before leaving town for this week. Hope to post my stats at least a couple of times while I’m gone. Decided to have some Proseco last night while packing up for some summer fun. This was against my previous “rule” of not having wine 2 days in a row but I rationalized it as I am ahead of my goal for the month. As I have mentioned before, vacations and celebrations are a challenge (beachside, lakeside, poolside) lol.
But, I have a plan for success going into this week (allowing for 2 A days out of 5 days).
Happy Sunday whatever your plans!

Had drinks Fri & Sat. Friday was too many (again). I was stressed after son's graduation and dealing with my parents. I probably should have just gone to bed instead.
Saturday was just two beers at my brother's wedding, so feeling pretty good about that.
