Carla-hope things go well for your daughter.
Rita-Curcumin can help with pain. Also, Arnica is available in tablets and doesn't have same side effects as Advil or Tylenol. And I think in all things we can take advice from others but still have to find what works best for us.
Rosemarie-that is great news about your energy improvement. If we are depressed it is hard to do physical things sometimes. After my husband died I wasn't in deep depression but I think I was more depressed than I thought. Each day you heal a bit more. Give yourself grace.
Lisa-is there maybe an old picture you have of your friend from younger days that you could share with them? One they may not have?
Kylia-good luck with mice. Since you don't live there full time they may just feel comfortable there. Too bad there is no way to keep a cat there while you are gone(or at least while you are there to get the scent in the place.
It has been raining here today. My grass is slowly turning green again. Had to go to meeting this pm and one of the people is not overly fond of me at the moment, but it went well and we were able to act professional. Yesterday I had a difficult conversation with someone that I had put off much too long. Still not sure what final outcome will be but I feel a sense of relief and peace even though it was painful for both of us.
Off to get things ready for tomorrow. Three meeting day.
Take care all,

Good evening ladies!
Today I got into the chocolate and ate way too many calories. But I did most of my exercises, twenty minutes on the bike and then my dumbbells, Yay! My belly was too full for the sit-ups and the deadlifts, but I did everything else. And I finally figured out a way to do lunges next to the table. Yay! I'm up to ten reverse lunges on each side.
I took my mom to the doctor for a routine checkup and she is doing very well. No aches or pains, cheerful and kind, and she still walks around. Not bad for ninety. Her latest irritating habit is to make cups of tea and forget them, so there's often two or three in the kitchen. Not so
bad at all.
I made sausages for dinner and that was tough for them to chew. Hot dogs aren't very healthy but they are softer. Tomorrow is grocery day, I will
buy some fresh catfish for them.
Yay Nuggets!
Carla hope Anne is safe! That sounds dangerous.
Allie sounds like a lovely upcoming vacation!
Have a great night my friends!

Evelyn - I have a basket of clothes to take to a donation centre too. They have been in my car for a few weeks now. I get frustrated with myself for not dropping them every time I need my trunk space. I need to get some more stuff gathered up then I’ll take it all.
Machka - that meme is how I end up doing a lot of things.
It’s very difficult for me to concentrate on just one thing at a time.
Heather - I am like you in taking care of things I have two plants that I’ve kept alive for 20 years, I have no interest in them really but DH likes them. We don’t have a pet ourselves, we like the freedom of being able to go when we want. I’ve always been fearful of not having money in case of a medical emergency with one too.
Vicki - I hope someone comes along soon for you. It’s funny here, employers need help, but employees don’t get called. I’ve put out probably 50 resumes in the last few months and have only received one call. It’s hard to get resumes looked at now with technology.
Allie - I hope that Kyle and his brother have a safe trip. It’s good they are travelling together. It would be a long drive alone in that situation.
Pip - 4100 days is outstanding!
Rita - living pay to pay is not fun. We are in the same boat.
Carla - prayers for Anne. I would want him to have those confiscated though.
Rosemarie - I did say that. I originally thought I was feeling this way from stress at work, but I’ve been off for 4 weeks now and still feel this way.
I’m keeping my appointment and talking to her about it.
I think to have you out of the house, talking to someone for a minute is worth more than the cost of the coffee.
Lisa - I’ll let you know for sure what my doctor says.
Rodger surprised me with a dozen red long stem roses for our anniversary. I put them in the vase he bought me for our first anniversary. We also went out for supper. We went to a small town away from us to a, new to us, restaurant that reminded me of back home restaurants.
The service was slow and not the best, since I used to waitress in a place very similar to me it seemed they were short staffed so I still tipped the waitress. The food was good. They played 80’s rock in the background and the decor doesn’t look like it’s been updated since then.
Our Grandpup was doing much better today. DH was out at their house, he said she wanted to play with him. But they didn’t play more than shaking a paw. She slept right after again. Kaitlyn said she ate twice today though so that’s a positive sign.

Woke up at 4 am today with holiday butterflies. I'm always like this at this point, but I get over it once I start packing and organising. I read my book about Jane Austen, which kept me sane. I have a hair trim this afternoon, but nothing else pressing. Tomorrow, I've stupidly booked to go to Chichester for a gallery and lunch with G. The weather is cooling off slightly, and it will take my mind off packing.
I know from experience that this is my peak worry time and I will calm down.
One small worry is if I will fit into my cruise clothes as I have been so much more inactive of late! The weight has not crept on, but marched on. I hate not feeling my best, but, as long as I can squeeze into my formal dress, I can put up with a few lumps and bumps. I will have to try on a few things before I pack them!
After all the angst on Saturday about Max and the theatre, it turned out that DDIL couldn't go to her school reunion after all, because of a train problem. She tried to work out a way, but it wasn't possible. So she could babysit the girls after all while my son took Max.
Yesterday she and DH had a nice long chat in the playground while waiting for both girls. They talked about his daughter and the problems in relationships. He was very happy about the conversation. It lead to us having a long chat in the early evening.
When DDIL came to pick up Bea, her hair was wet as she and Edie had taken a dip in the sea after cello. Edie persuaded her to brave the cold water.
Looking forward to making a small start on the packing. The only thing I need to buy now is indigestion tablets.

Agreed.
I am on the lookout for ways to simplify things.
For the past 5 years I have let the grocery store handle the grocery situation. I place my order online at my convenience from the comfort of my home and the groceries arrive a couple days later.
I also let my bank handle the banking record keeping. They are fully equipped to do that.
We also get our taxes done professionally. I rarely have to bring documents in any more. They've got most/all of them.
I'd hire a housekeeper but that's expensive! For now we'll make due with a robot vacuum and my long-time habit of cleaning the bathroom in the morning as I get ready for work.
Trying to keep what I can simple. The rest of life is very complicated.

Tracey--I feel what we get paid is fair for what we do. I guess I remember when I was making $10 an hour and was happy. I make more than twice that now and am happy with that. This person that applied is a CNA and makes more an hour than I do, so I think she should stay there. I know the right person will apply I just pray it is soon.
Today is my monthly 3 hour management meeting. Did I say I hate meetings, I hope I can stay awake.
Weight was same this morning as last week, not happy about that but at least I did not gain.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE
As a manager, I would hope you're making 4 to 5 times that amount!! Especially with the amount you are working.
I remember the $10/hour days back when I started my professional career. In the 1990s!
I was happy with that for the first couple years too, but was very glad when I started moving up after those first couple years.
Cost of living doesn't stand still.

________
Machka,
I am SO glad I don’t feel compelled to check email anymore. My work emails are defunct, thank goodness. Email is my least favorite way of communicating.
Now that I am retired, I let people know that I am not good at checking and responding to email so their expectations can be adjusted.
On the other hand, I am excellent at responding to texts and pretty good about phone messages.
I have never figured out a way to keep my email clutter under control, so it’s a huge chore for me to wade through it looking for a message that I care about.
My bad.
Karen in Virginia
It becomes problematic for me when I need information at work, or when a response or lack of response will result in money/time/effort etc. savings or loss.
Of the 4-ish email responses I'm waiting on, 1 is a work email and the other 3 are personal but important in terms of money/time/effort etc.
And email in those situations is efficient because I can include all the details and attachments, and have an email trail.
If it is just casual emails between friends or family, I'll often go weeks before I'll respond to someone.
Texts and phone calls ... you may never hear from me! The chances I'll return a phone call are really slim. They're slightly better with a text but not much.
M in Oz
Work email ... went ahead and did what I was planning to do. I think it may have set off a bit of panic because I was suddenly locked out of something. But I got back in later.
One of the other emails ... I went around the person I was waiting to hear from and contacted the source. All set now.
At this point the others can wait a bit.
I have patience, but there's a limit.

1. Decide to look for what’s good every day this month.
I have been enjoying coding during the first 2 days of the month. That's been really good.
Also the 25 flights of stairs a day.
2. Say positive things in your conversations with others.
Chatted with a work friend about our gardens first thing this morning.
Smiled and thanked people as usual.
BTW - thanking the bus driver at the end of a trip is a thing here.
3. Re-frame a worry and try to find a helpful way to think about it.
Where do I even start? A single worry?
There are so many worries rumbling away in the background but I try not to think about them or dwell on them.
I try to focus on the good days or even good moments.
4. Take a photo of something that brings you joy and share it.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/machka-bb/
5. Think of 3 things you’re grateful for and write them down.
My job
The place we live
My husband
Our cat
Oops, that's 4.
6. Get out into green space and feel the joy that nature brings.
Every day!
But this week has been wintery so I haven't walked far at lunch.
7. Do something healthy that makes you feel good.
Climb, climb, climb, climb! This week I have climbed 109 flights of 20 stairs.
Plus walking.
8. Find joy in music: sing, play, dance, listen or share.
I listen to ABC Classic at work ... classical and related music. This week, the 10 am - 1 pm program has been featuring George Gershwin and I have been loving it!
9. Ask a friend what made them happy recently.
My husband and his bees and garden and bicycles.
10. Bring joy to others by doing something kind for them.
Told a kid I liked his sunglasses?
Told a friend that he was welcome to come cycling with us.
11. Eat good food that makes you happy and really savor it.
I was so hungry by the time we got back after the bicycle ride, just about any food would have made me happy. I started with popcorn.
12. Write a gratitude letter to thank someone.
I don't write letters.
Emails ... but not letters.
13. Take a light-hearted approach. Choose to see the funny side.
I often just have to laugh.
14. Share a happy memory with someone who means a lot to you.
I'll share it with you.
Back in 2008, I lived with my parents (as a home base) and sort of lived in Edmonton as well, while going to the University of Alberta.
During that time, my father and I cycled together a lot ... and I am so glad that we had a few years then to cycle together a lot.
One of the places we'd go a few times a year is out to the Nordegg area.
I miss cycling with my father.
And I miss cycling that road. Of all the roads I've ridden around the world, it's my favourite.
Even seeing it in photos brings a smile to my face.

New set of exercises to do. I'm being good about doing them.
We are going to start putting outdoor wear into a suitcase tomorrow. The cleaner is coming today, so won't start yet. We have decided to pack the suitcases downstairs, so as to avoid having to drag and bump them down the stairs when full. Obviously, I can't help this year, and DH is nervous about it. We will have to take clothes for all weathers! Hats, gloves fleeces, anoraks, etc. Good job there is no weight restriction. We don't have to carry them again, once they are in the hall. We take three big suitcases and a personal bag each. Plus my handbag (purse). Last time we were in the Arctic, in Sweden, it was a heatwave and forest fires, so there's no predicting. Iceland was really cold for one day. Svarlbard was cold., but sunny. So an all-weather pack.

The funeral was on Saturday and there was a service of remembrance today. I had the other group members sign a sympathy card for her today, and took it round to hers after the meeting. I was planning to put it through the door, but she and the family were just returning from the service when I got there, so I was able to deliver it in person. Very sad.

Happy anniversary, Tracey. Sounds like you had a nice celebration. Glad to hear that the grandpup is improving.
Had a little shower last night. There were severe thunderstorm warnings out with potential downpours but we were missed. Organic inspector phoned yesterday and wants to come on Saturday to inspect fields/books. Coming early this year as we are usually inspected in August. Will be here between 4 and 5. Going over the books this morning with DH as I haven't recorded any of our sales. It's good DH has an excellent memory and will be able to match up the sales receipts to which bin the grain came out of. I find that I keep the records up to date at harvest time but when it comes to selling the grain later in the year I tend to slack off.
Enjoy your day ladies.
Joy4 -
Just had my hair trimmed. Now I won't have to wash it for tomorrow's lunch.
I'm going to try a new variation of a favourite recipe tonight. I saw on Instagram that you can use halloumi instead of paneer in a curry. Don't see why not, and we have some lurking in the fridge. I will rinse it first as it is salty. Bought fresh spinach, vine tomatoes and a red pepper etc when I was out. Brown rice is in the freezer, cooked..
Tried on my formal dress. Not a great look, (lumps and bumps) but I can get into it as it's stretchy. I'm hoping the sparkly cape will avert the eye! Not going to take the faux leather leggings. I can squeeze into them still, but I just don't feel comfortable. Hopefully next year. Most evenings are smart/casual, but there are 3 formals. I will just wear the same dress. My other formal dress was a tight squeeze last year!
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

(((hugs))) to those who need them.
One would think, Beth, but he's really just an arrogant, narcissist, jacka**, not violent. He likes the feeling of power. I know I'm making it sound as if he could "go off", but he's really a weak idividual and he's proven that many times in the past when he's been confronted by authority, like the police or even people "bigger" than he is. smdh. Anne is very safe, Annie. She lives in a locked building and works with some wonderful people who are completely on her side and is dating a local police officer now. LOL. (one of the main reasons that she finally took out the protection order... he talked her into it) I agree, Tracey. I want those weapons taken away from him, but for me it's petty selfishness. He's an a**hole and treated my baby horribly, so I want him punished. Sorry for the language ladies, but he brings out the worst in me.
OMGosh, Allie. I've got pix of all the grands in those playground tunnels like Miles is in. Those are so danged cute!
Happy Anniversary, Tracey!
Hearing this morning... but I think they're asking for a continuance due to the need to look at all the evidence that Anne just provided. (over 200 phone logs and voice messages!!!)
Love and Blessings, Carla, in MN4 -
Good morning, afternoon or evening, y'all,
It was nearly 70 (21C) this morning at barely 8 am. The web weather weasels say "There is a marginal risk of severe weather today," which covers all their bases, now doesn't it. Silly buggers. They're basically calling for storms around midnight each night. Maybe.
Whoops, paused on this to do something else, and they put us under a severe weather watch... We apparently live in this weird pop-up storm region, and they honestly don't have a flipping clue what's going to happen. *Sigh* I need to stop looking at the weather.
Tracey - Happy anniversary, and well done on Rodger for the dozen roses! So glad the grandpup is doing better, too.
Talked to our soldier daughter yesterday early morning... I think I mentioned that her three kids are with their respective fathers for the summer, so she's child-free at the moment. This morning she begins a leadership school in San Antonio.
This is the same school she was attending last year where she got through five of the six weeks and then came down with covid-19 and they wouldn't let her finish remotely. When I spoke to her yesterday, she was terribly jet lagged and dealing with a cold that she brought with her from Hawaii. Passing this school is a requirement for her next promotion, which, like Rebecca's son, is necessary to be able to get to her 20-year mark and be able to retire. She's been in for 14 years now, and her husband's been in for 16 years, so the brass ring is in sight for both of them.
I talked to my gastroenterologist's office yesterday. Since my UC symptoms continue, and they had to take me off the one medication that was making me so dizzy, they want me to do a double-antibiotic regimen. Again. For more than the dozenth time in the last few years... but it will be the first time with this biologic. I am not laying any expectations on the outcome, there've been too many of those shattered, so I'll just take them like a good little girl and see what happens.
I've got to get some food in me, haven't eaten anything yet today, and it's nearly 11 a.m. Hope everyone's day is/was a good one.
Always much love,
Lisa in AR5 -
Carla - I would hope that they issue a temporary protection order while reviewing the info.... because no order puts her at more risk. Bullies - which is what he sounds like may back down most of the time, but they can snap too....
