Phew!
I adore the kids, but having them again and feeding them all kept me awake in the middle of the night for a couple of hours. Plus keeping them quiet while she found a spot to do her broadcast.
I have no idea how DDIL'S parents are coping!
I've found some very helpful stuff on YouTube for my thigh, so I'll give that a try. Basically, my left leg is a mess, and I only keep it going with daily PT. This is just another symptom. I just love it though when you find the right thing and person online . It makes you feel less alone and more positive about being able to do something about it. Otherwise you feel a freak.
Last time this happened, I spent a fortune on a chiropractor and acupuncture. Basically, he didn't have a clue. He used to get upset when I cried with the pain. This is about 19 years ago, when we were first married. I put it down to too much s#x.

Morning ladies
Woke up during the night and finally woke up at 5:15 ,my hips and thighs in so much pain..
Like Heather have been doing the exercises for the bursitis. But yikes..its painful
At this stage of the game im glad I rented a scooter for the cruise.

Barbie In Organized Enough she does talk about building consistency into your day and how that can make for less stress. Your day models this concept.
What I am working for is taking those few extra minutes and putting things back into the same place so they are ready for the next time.
She does make reference to the Happiness Project that you also have made reference.
I tried to reduce the number of shoes by the front door and when I did then suddenly my husband's number of pairs grew and it again became a tripping hazard. I am going to buy a shoe shelf similar to the one at my son's house and what fits on it will be the limit.
I like how she is getting me to look at spaces in our home as boundaries. If what I have does not fit in that boundary it is time to weed. Less is more. As I create spaces I am trying not just to fill them back up with overflow from somewhere else. (Another goal)6 -
Back to school for the grands! Joaquin is in first grade this year! Miguel is almost 4, Javier is 1 1/2.

Margaret, You are right. It is so helpful to have an assigned place for everything so no time and mental energy are used unnecessarily looking for things. It is especially true in the morning when I get up and am able to find clothing, shoes, headphones, leash, flashlight, etc. to go outside with Bessie.
Heather, You are amazing hosing your family with all their special needs and your need to make everything right for them. Such a thing would keep me awake at night, too.
Yesterday the mobile dog groomer was here and Bessie did well after initially being anxious. Jake's conversation with the groomer renewed his desire to get another dog to keep Bessie company. We started by looking online at the local dog rescue and filled out an application with them. They require that you have an application approved before you can visit their dogs so we spent an hour filling out the nine page application which was only slightly less rigorous than an application to adopt a child.

Annie - sorry to hear about your aunt. Gosh, what is it with old guys and chainsaws/power tools that require strength, balance, good judgment. There's a part of their minds that tells them they are 21. Praying for his safety and that he'll back off on these jobs and trust your judgment more. On all issues.
Allie- thanks, three hens looked to be the maximum, but I might be able to squeeze four in if it's only for part of the day. Looks like they sometimes run specials on those little tractors - I'll keep my eyes peeled and see if someone around here is using one. I'd like to see it up closer. Next time you talk to her, could you please ask her if she thinks four full grown hens would fit OK? Sorry about your hip/thigh pain.
Barbie - thank you for sharing your day. I'm sure this didn't happen overnight, and took some work developing good habits and decisions that have made your life now peaceful and content. You are a good example for me.
Heather - glad DDIL is going to her folks and the family isn't coming to your house again right now. Hope your PT continues helping your thigh.
Tracey - that T shirt is awesome. I should get one and explain to Almy how yummy a chicken tender is. She did go back in and join her pals last night. I got peeved and tossed a piece of wood her way and she ran right to the gate and stood there until I opened it. She had this look of "hurry up, what are you waiting for?" Good job getting your assignments done.
Rebecca - glad to hear your sis is able to walk a little. Gosh, every day I count my blessings.
Margaret - I just received "Organized Enough" - I've gotten as far as the first few pages and I think it's going to be excellent. Maybe it will spark me to start back in on at least cleaning out some drawers.
ZOE - As I mentioned a few days ago, I've been watching (when I get a chance, the TV is on in the background and I don't seem to sit much) the ZOE Science and Nutrition videos on YouTube. I saw a presentation about protein yesterday. The person interviewed said if a person is getting enough calories (from a balanced diet) they are getting adequate protein. My takeaway from his presentation was that once a person eats a meal, the body can reassemble some of the amino acids to make the protein it needs - which isn't necessarily reflected on the MFP macros. Simplified, a breakfast of toast and egg and sliced tomato might only show total protein intake of 13 grams of protein. But our bodies might be able to make 18 grams worth of protein. I'm pulling that number of thin air but you get the drift. Fascinating way to look at it.
I thought about my DH and his diminishing appetite and how I worked and pleaded to get enough protein in him. Still he lost a lot of weight. But, was it the quality of protein, or the total lack of calories that did this? And is my current practice of upping protein to 1.2 grams per KG necessary? Maybe so if my total calories are low. Protein does help to diminish my hunger.
A few weeks ago, we discussed in this group how almonds aren't as fatty of a food as we thought, mainly due to the fiber which doesn't get digested and helps swoosh things out. The ZOE has a presentation on nuts which goes deeper - at least 30% of the fat which shows up on the MFP macros, if I'm remembering right, is actually tied up in the cells of all nuts - not just almonds- so the body can't use them.
I need to rewatch these when I'm able to sit still long enough to take notes!
Got my sunrise walk in, picked more Aronia berries. I think the plan for today is peeling and cutting up apples for more apple vinegar. I have room for 4 or 6 more quarts on the counter. I think once it has finished fermenting, I might only get a few pints of the final product since a lot of what's taking up room in the quart jars is apple pulp that will eventually be strained out and tossed.

Morning, ladies. Been a very busy hectic couple of weeks. DS and family were visiting from eastern Canada and enjoyed seeing them again. I might visit them after harvest but if harvest is delayed, will wait until next year in March. Also met up with my 2 sisters and brother along with their spouses for our annual sibling get together. We have to travel the furthest (2 hour drive) but it was nice to catch up with them in person rather than a phone call.
Now back to healthy mindful eating as I am up a bit in my weight.
Very busy in the garden now. Have picked a lot of peas and now working on my green beans. Will be going out a bit later this morning to tackle the rest of them. Cucumbers are starting to be plentiful so pickles and relish probably on the weekend.
Sweet, little Lucy went to the groomer and was so good. Groomer was able to give her a bath, nail trim and groom her entirely. Barbie, happy to hear you are thinking of doing a rescue. So many dogs in need.

Good morning, afternoon or evening all, whatever the case may be,
Fell asleep in my chair by 7 pm last night, woke up about 8.30 feeling horrible, so I took a Nyquil and headed for bed. Didn't wake up until nearly 6 am, so I obviously needed the sleep. Unfortunately, while the headache and hovering sore throat are gone, the vertigo and dizziness when I woke were a bit overwhelming. Just finished my fourth try at the Epley maneuver and got it back to bearable, anyway. When every eye movement makes you wobble, it's not fun.
In between all that this morning, got a fresh tomato red sauce going in the IP. Sautéed onions and garlic in olive oil in the IP, then quartered up ten fresh, ripe tomatoes into the mix. Changed it over to slow cooker, and they'll be in there all day developing flavor. Makes a wonderful bolognese, or even a restaurant-type salsa after it's all blended. Whichever spice range you're in the mood for, basically, can be added the last hour or so.
Mid-90s today and tomorrow, and then we're back to at least 10 days of 100-degree weather to round out August. I was hoping it would be cooler while my son and his fiancée are here the 25th-29th, but they're coming here from New Mexico, so they'll be used to the temperatures.
Tackled the Big Book of Death yesterday, but not in the mood for office work today, so I'm wavering between two projects. Still not sure which one I want to tackle yet.

Barbie when we adopted Scooter, in addition to the application was a home inspection and a recommendation letter from our veterinarian. ;} Keep a copy of that application, it might come in handy for dealing with other dog rescue organizations.

Lanette thanks for the ZOE series information. That really resonates. Back when I was an ovo/lacto veg, the Lappe books talked about food combinations to balance amino acids and that most women don’t need more than 45 g complete protein a day. Just subscribed and added ZOE to my “watch later” playlist.

Been a really off week. Tuesday went to chiropractor and found out the pain in my side is not my back. So yesterday doctor did tests to check for kidney stones. In the meantime it hurts to move, forget laying down, hurts to breathe deep and the doctor told me that my foot swelling is more than likely related to the pain in my side as is the same side. So today waiting for answers. Then said stress is not helping. So one day at a time.
Going to be really hot the next several days and I am to take pictures at a church event for Vets this Saturday. I am talking to my granddaughter and told her I would pay her to take the pictures as at this point walking is not my friend.

I have been working with a number of different companies for years. I get emails showing what shops are available.
I am not sure if the same companies are up there.
A few I work for are Marketforce, Ipsos,CustomerImpact.
There used to be a great site that listed all the companies on one site, by location-type in your town and all the different ones in the area would show up. I stopped doing shops during covid and that site was gone when I tried to do shops again.
I can get her more information if you want. I love doing them but am a bit more picky.
I know, after all these years, which companies will give little bonuses near the end of the month or if the shop isn't getting picked up by anyone. Like the ones I am doing today. The very first one paid $9-it was at dh's store so I just did it when we went to get his check. The three yesterday and two today are paying $15(I applied for them a week later) and this morning, I see the remaining ones are now at $17. The more remote the area is, the higher it goes with some companies.
I will be looking for more shops so will start checking out more companies along with the ones I am already signed up with.
Some the shop fee isn't great but when they do a nice reimbursement for food plus pay a small shop fee, it is worth it, if you want the food.
There is one that popped up for Red Lobster. Shop fee is just $5 BUT reimbursement is up to $70
Why so low? I thought they paid better than that.

The ones I did this week were simple, in and out in about 15 min. Some would have been quicker but had dh with me and he was talking with employees that he used to work with at other stores.
These were just, locate the product. put coupon stickers on each one, face the product, take pictures and if the store had back stock(none of the 6 did), put stickers on them or give the dairy manager the rest of the stickers. The hardest part was, for me, reaching the product. I did have my little step stool with me. I had seen I would need it when we were doing our weekly shopping before I had to do the shop. Two stores I needed it, two I was on my knees to reach the back of the bottom shelf.
Some shops pay more but I have found those want a LOT more detail and take a lot more time.
I stick with ones I know exactly what they want before getting there.
The ones I did this week, use an app so everything is done by the time I leave the store.
The mystery shop ones take the time to do the shop and then time to input on the computer. Some of those are quick and others want so much that I was staying up, spending an hour putting the information in.

Vicki - many commiserations on your pains. Sounds like kidney problems, but I am not a doctor. Sick leave might be a good option. I am so fond of you, I worry about you.
I fried a pack of 'half-cooked' frozen falafel tonight. Delicious! Had it with hummus and salad. Yum!
I could live on it.
Reminded by Lanette, I watched a video by Tim Spector. My diet is much like his. Plus alcohol.
Faithfully did my thigh exercises this morning. We will see. All good so far.

Allie and Barbara When we adopted Bessie, Jake dealt with all the application process which included lots of e mails. Bessie was in Houston so there was no home inspection and no chance to meet Bessie ahead of time, only photos. She came to Washington by plane and we drove two hours to the airport in Seattle to pick her up. Jake also took the lead when we adopted Shiro, the Golden Retriever, from a breeder in Eureka and then Brandy and Sasha, the Standard Poodles, from a breeder in Sequim. Part of yesterday's application was contact info for our vet and two personal references. We gave them the names of our friend who walks Bessie with me every morning and the poodle breeder who is still a friend
Annie when we line danced at an assisted living place I met a 90 year old woman whose grown kids pressured her to sell her house and move because she insisted on continuing to use her chain saw.

Sunk cost fallacy can be tricky to wrap your head around, and it’s not without nuance. For more clarity in these complex decision-making moments, completely disregard how much you’ve already invested so that it doesn’t hold influence. Then, look at the facts.
Are you satisfied? Have you repeatedly been met with dead ends? Is there still potential for a positive outcome if you continue investing your resources and energy? What are the benefits of walking away and opening a new door? These are the factors that should influence your decision rather than any previously sunk costs.
