I posted this morning before remembering Oct. 1
Barbara the church The Grove of Woodbury does put our service on Facebook. If you look it up the also stream it live too!
Vicki I love the passage you shared so true for so many things. We never know the struggles someone has in their life. A reminder to met those with kindness and compassion!
(((Rita))) Surrounding you in loving thoughts I am so proud of you for all you are doing to keep yourself as strong as you can. There is nothing wrong in telling your son that you hear he is starting to show signs of his illness. (When someone is starting down that road they lose their perspective.) Remind him you are one who knows him and you want what is best for him. It is those that know him or her to alert them to go see a health professional they trust. He may or may not heed what you say. It might help to remind him what happens to him without help. Remind yourself that you are dealing with an irrational person. Do kind things for yourself and set those strong boundaries to help yourself like you have been doing!
Happy with singing today. Have such a great accompaniest with LouAnn! Fun songs to sing. Compliments on how it looked like I was enjoying what I was singing!
can you post the link for your church- I would like to watch it- I tried looking for it but haven't found it yet

Evening ladies
Looks like everyone has had a busy weekend..
I went over to my friend Bevs house this afternoon.. we had nibbles, brought Alfie because they love him so..
She is 6 months older than me and bless her.. works full time and takes care of her 94 yr old mother who is wheelchair bound who has severe anxiety and a bit of dementia.. they have a live in to help.. plus Bev has a younger brother that is on disability that she deals with too..she never married and the poor girl is a Saint. So these little get togethers help a bit..
It was beautiful out today so we sat in the backyard had a glass of wine and a few grapes, some cheese and crackers for Jan( the live in ) Birthday.. she is from Ghana and very sweet.
Home now with Alfie and relaxing.. enjoyed the fresh air.
Oh here are a few pictures for you

Home now, quicker now that we are not towing anything. I am now close to over on being sick. The “plan” is to walk the kids for 4 miles instead of 6 and when I go to the gym, I’m going to “try start running 8 miles. Since I am still running slower than my usual pace, it will take me longer to run that distance so if I cut the walk short I should get home at the usual time. We will see if it pans out. Goy my new monkey feet so they came in time for me to break them in for the run. The ones I’ve been walking and running with have some serious holes in the heels, I wore those suckers out.8

Hi I am Debi and would love to join your discussion. I have only just started back on MFP after a long break & looking for some accountability, I am 56 years young, Scottish and living in London England6

As far as the need to be wanted and needed goes, I think our pets make a massive difference in our lives. I know that Egg is a large portion of my life, and enormous company when Corey's not around. I can see how that attachment would be even deeper if he weren't here. Totally disagree that it's purely "cupboard love," and just about the snacks, too. Egg's very definite about being petted vs. being snacked, and both are part of the overall picture. Much like with humans.
Lisa - as I was writing about pets/chicks and snacks, I actually thought of you and Egg. And how your connection is a whole lot more than "feed me." My shop kitty is like that - was DH's companion, giver and receiver of love and he didn't feed her. I wonder if that's a cat thing. If they adopt you, you're all set.
Our dog prior to Rosie was like Egg. Sophie wasn't motivated by treats, just loved to be with us and cuddle and play with us and make us happy. She made us feel wanted and needed. Might have been the poodle part of her = intelligence.
As I said, in my case, my current pets are motivated by snacks. (I was being facetious by the way.) Everyone's pet is different but it's interesting how they can help fill that role when humans aren't available physically or emotionally.
I thought about the "being wanted and needed" and my life right now v. what if I was living alone in a senior apartment with no pets, no lawn or garden that needed tending. Maybe some cranky old shrew in the apartment next door. Made me very grateful that I have these opportunities to be active outside and be around my animals, some older folks aren't that lucky.
Thanks for the explanation about Tyler. Actually, I'd love being the only kid too. Glad to hear the Ex and Kels are getting along better, so good for the whole family. Like you said, see where it goes.
Heather - your new dress is beautiful, as is the bride.
Terri - that walled garden is beautiful. What a great way to spend some time.
Sue - sorry to hear about your brother, glad they figured out the problem. Is he in SD? Hope you are feeling much better.
I got a lot done today. Cleaned out and organized my sock/undies drawer. Mending I'd been putting off for months, just little things like replacing lost buttons. Laundry done and hung out in the sun. Planted peas - by golly some of the old seeds were sprouting after being in the cupboard on damp paper towels overnight.

Worked and just been busy. Doing what I’m not sure. Just busy. Got my hair cut Thurs. Lisa – I’m so frugal I go to the local college’s cosmetology school. I forgot that Sept. isn’t the time to go. The gal who cut my hair took 2 hours!!!! All it was was a straight cut – 2” off, trim the bangs. The teacher always looks at the work and each time she looked at this gal’s she had to fix something. Volunteered at the soup kitchen Fri. Did more work around the pool and bought more blocks. I have to put them down on the cart, put them into the car and then take them out and put them away be it under the deck (where we did put them) or around the upper part of the pool. Church Sat. It was Pete’s birthday Sat. Almost forgot to call! Did the Kettlewerx Resistance DVD today. Going to go out to put down weed and feed and grass seed.
Made beef and barley in the crock pot yesterday for Vince, meatloaves today and have yogurt in the IP
Heather – happy birthday
Been working around the fence for the pool. First I pulled all the weeds, put down the weed killer, now I’m pushing rocks away from the fence so that Vince can put down the block. Been hauling the large rocks that were outside the fence and putting them down elsewhere. When we buy the new blocks I put them onto the cart at the store and then into the car (Vince puts them in the right place)
Bowling tomorrow and then ceramics
I LOVE my air fryer lid for my IP. The lid doesn’t take up a whole lot of room. The disadvantage is that you can’t make a whole lot in the IP but I’ve found that I can make enough for two people. It takes a long time to dehydrate fruit. That’s the main reason I got it but now I use it for a lot of other things and not dehydrating fruit.
Barbara – I’ve heard that the convection setting on my oven works like an air fryer so I figured I’d give it a try. It really is like an air fryer. One thing they do tell you not to make in the convection is biscuits. But that I can live with. HE detergent doesn’t make as many suds and you don’t need as much detergent to get the clothes clean.
Guess what? My car is one of the ones that has the recall. So now for the next few weeks (until they get the part to repair it), I get to park my car away from the house outside. Funsville.
Allie – thanks for the day brighteners. Margaret got me thinking. Is it possible that Carmine can have a pet?
Lisa – I feel the same way knowing that a car repair guy would never try to sell Vince what they try to sell me. It’s just so annoying. Glad to hear the pottery is going well. Great for Kelsey!
Welcome everyone new!
The soup kitchen got A BIG donation of baked goods so I took a key lime pie home for Vince and some cookies. Guess who had most of the cookies? I’ve now learned NOT to bring home things from there unless I will eat it (like cheese or fruit)
Rita – so pleased to hear your son was rehired
Yogurt finished and I now have it draining. Question: I like mine very thick. How long does everyone leave theirs draining?
I usually don’t wear polish on my nail mainly because it’s cheaper (Lisa, told you I was frugal). Now I don’t also because of the job.
Terri – in some ways there are things that I miss about the lockdown. I miss not having the “I gotta be somewhere” feeling. Yet, I want to be able to if I want to. Talk about wanting your cake and eating it too!
The other day I realized that my mother has been gone almost 60 years !
Got my new mahjongg card. I am still mad at myself for throwing out the old one
Joy – so glad to see you popping in!
M – you make me so jealous that you are sitting in the sunshine!
Meg – big congrats on quitting smoking. And welcome!
Heather – you look so lovely at the wedding. What a gorgeous gown she had! Happy Birthday!
Pip – glad to hear that you’re feeling better. Please take care. Glad to see that you are taking it slowly (for you, that is)
Going to watch a bit of TV. Hope I don’t fall asleep!
Michele NC4 -
Annie-try not to stress about weight too much (easier said than done). Make little modifications if you can. If you don't eat with your dad could you still sit with him and have some tea or bone broth? I bet he misses your mom's company and hates eating alone.
Rita-you have every right to block out the toxic. We are not doormats.
Heather-lovely picture of you with the bride. You both look marvelous. Hope you have a happy birthday.
Allie-hope your friend is able to get some rest-she has a very full plate. Glad to hear Carmine is starting to talk to someone.
Lanette-the places am looking at will let you bring pets (I can bring the two cats). I think only on dog and there is usually a weight limit on them. Several of them also have outside gardens that the residents tend so if you have a green thumb you are in.
Productive day today. I didn't sleep well and was sure I would want to nap. I got a couple of small things ordered I have wanted (new check book cover and cover for passport). Discovered when paying bills today that am out of checks! Ordered those. Went on 3 mile walk. Discovered my $60.00 in Kohls cash was expiring today. Went to store. Was thinking of a pair of Columbia hiking shoes-didn't like the fit. Skirt I was interested in was only available in color I don't care for. Wasn't much I really needed. They had Lands End puffy vest on sale. I have a navy blue one. I bought a purple one. I like wearing them in the winter at work. Also got two "better than cashmere scarves. I probably haven't bought new scarves in 15 years. Will sort out that box one night this week.
While watching football I got ironing done and they started on the shredding (I can sit on couch, so that, and watch game). Got that caught up-which cleaned up my office a lot. I'm trying to do something with the clutter every day and am making steady progress again.
Well, it is moving towards my bed time. Only one meeting at work tomorrow (hooray!). I had to send something off yesterday that was due by October 1-nothing like under the wire! But that was about all I did for the job this weekend.
Welcome to the new ladies.
Take care all,

Happy birthday, Heather! 🎂

Hi Gals,
Thought I’d touch base – This weekend I officiated a wedding, my first, not a new side gig, but was asked to officiate my friend Dylan’s wedding. Cute young couple, all of the parents and the wedding party all great people. An evening(5-10pm) outdoor reasonably dressy wedding. I found my dress at a thrift store the neckline was a bit revealing so I made some lace on my embroidery machine to embellish it and hide some cleavage. And then made a swing jacket to go with it- out of chiffon, so very summery - However Mom Nature decided that it would be a high of 64 and a low of 54 – with some wind…. BRRRRR ! no indoor option available. After the ceremony I put leggings under the dress, added socks and comfy shoes for the strappy sandals, and a sweater between the dress and the swing jacket. But was glad for my car heater about 9 pm. I was a bit nervous – but pulled it off with very few hiccups. And got lots of complements.
I didn’t realize how much stress I was under until I crawled into bed last night and slept for 8 hours and after a couple of “up” hours was ready for bed again. I’ll go in early tonight. As tomorrow is a workday for me.
Love ya all,
Kim in N. California

Lanette - Unfortunately, Tyler's dad is the first ex, and not the second one (Haley and Levi's dad), whose last move was a legal request to quit paying child support. Unfortunately for him, he filed it in Kansas, and she and the kids have been in Hawaii now for six months, so all support, custody, etc., is now moving to the Hawaiian courts. If he's not careful, they may actually raise his child support, rather than dropping the amount. However, I'm trying to use Barbie's quote, "Never miss an opportunity to keep your mouth shut." I never know when one of the kids can hear me when Kels is on the phone, and they don't need to hear Gramily lose her cool.MacLowCarbing wrote: »Happy Fall, Y'all. Welcome, Mackenzie, it's a good place to get all the support you need... drop into any conversation that's of interest, we're glad you're here!New to this thread/group. Almost 55 and back to MFP to lose the pounds I put on when I quit smoking in January. 5 more to go then into maintenance. Sometimes get super frustrated with how slow it is coming off, but know that is for the best.

Meg in Michigan, well done on quitting! Many of us on here have quit, it's well worth a couple extra pounds. They'll come off, you're doing well!
Heather - Love the new dress, and the bride looked lovely!
Kim - You look absolutely spiffy! It's a wonderful colorful for you, and you did a great job on the jacket and the dress.
Cheers to all...
Love y'all,

Michelle- she has 2 cats and a dog at her parents house.her Cat Angel misses her.. Tracy is going to see if she can go up there.2

Terri - I love that you pass on your expertise.
Rita - I hope your son gets back in his meds. If your family is like mine once you stop making the calls you won’t hear from them. No one calls to check in on us, it’s like we moved away so it’s our responsibility to keep in touch.
Going to town - when I was growing up we went to town on Thursdays for groceries after supper. It was our social event. You never knew who you might meet in the store so dressed up. Now I go to the store almost daily. I live around the corner. I don’t go in pyjamas but usually leggings and a tshirt. I quit wearing makeup years ago for the most part. I did wear some for the wedding yesterday.
Rebecca - you might need a shadow box frame for the board. They have them at Michael’s, they are pricy. You might see if you can find a hobby carpenter to make one cheaper.
Heather - Happy Birthday!!!!!!
Beautiful photo of you and the bride. Your dress is beautiful!
Annie - hugs. It’s a tough time for you.
Evelyn - I’m finding even the break we in Canada have from news on meta has been nice. I find I’m a little oblivious though, so I’m not sure of what the balance is.
Lisa - what a beautiful picture of the grandchildren.
Lanette - I 100% agree with being needed. I wanted my Mom to get a pet after Dad died. My brother talked her out of it. Within the year she was showing signs of Alzheimer’s and was diagnosed 3 years later. Getting the diagnosis was hard, it was more than a year to get into a specialist.
Mechanics - I have two here that I trust. Both have them left dealerships and started their own businesses. Both stated the reason they left is because the dealerships they worked for pushed for them to do work that wasn’t required. My brother cited the same reason for leaving a dealership. They, all three, are there for the customer and I trust them. I have always dealt with my own mechanical issues, and I always had my brother in my back pocket to call before making any decisions.
Kim - You are beautiful. I love your smile. I also loved your outfit.
Is Dylan the young man that lives with you for a bit?
I was at my friends wedding yesterday and for the first time in longer than DH and I can remember, I got a little tipsy. I really don’t drink often, and it doesn’t take much. 🥴
I ended up decorating the cake, I thought it was cute.
The wedding was sweet and intimate. This is the second marriage for both of them. They were high school sweethearts.
Rodger and I finished the drywall today. We managed to get it all hung with no battle scars. We are having a little tiff about the colours and decorating.
We live in a 1972 trailer. It is only 12x72. I have a vision in my head of what it will be and he doesn’t like it. I want the walls and trim to be white. He wants to use 1x3 wood for trim at the top of the wall painted black and also for a baseboard. He says he’s not upset with me, but he’s been quiet all day so I know he is.
I think I may agree to the board at the top, but leave the baseboard white. Ugh. Doing it his way is more money than I wanted to spend, but it’s his place too.
There are so many times that I wish he was one of those men that didn’t care about decorating. We usually reach a compromise, it’s the getting there that sucks.

Regarding keeping in touch with distant relatives ...
I'm one who doesn't put much effort into it.
I post on FB, and my family can see what's going on that way, sort of. And I'll glance over their posts.
But other than that, I might contact a few by email at Christmas. Maybe.
And I am thankful they aren't emailing me all the time!
I like that we kind of keep our distance.

Heather Happy birthday!
My mom is still in rehab. She isn't eating much, so she gets dizzy on standing. That has to change before she can come home. So now I need to bring her tasty food. I brought her watermelon and potato chips and a chocolate cake yesterday, but she didn't touch the cake. We have been visiting every day.
My sister is coming on Friday to help take my Dad to a funeral.
Last Friday my dad and I took Chinese takeout over to my aunt's. That was fun. My mom won't eat takeout, so it had been many years since I had eaten Chinese.
So my diet/exercise plan has fallen apart. I'm spending my spare time reading. And my clothes are getting tighter again. My dad wants me to sit down and eat with him after my eating window is over. He is driving me crazy. He lost one hearing aid at the YMCA on Friday.

I agree with your disagreement.
Rhody wants food at times, but shows affection at other times that have nothing to do with food. We'll be out for a walk and he'll pounce on things, nibble grass, watch the birds ... and then all of a sudden will come over to me, lean against my leg and look up at me, looking right into my eyes. I'll reach down and pat him, and then he'll scamper off to the next part of the yard. He'll usually do that a couple times during a walk.
And we have a first thing in the morning and last thing at night routine, where he says good morning and good night with lots of purrs.
