Some of the biggest roadblocks to clearing clutter are based on emotional baggage
*I might need it
*I used to use it all the time
*It's filled with memories of my _______
*My _______ might want it
*It's worth a lot so I can't just give it away
*I need to find the right person to give it to
Those are only the ones that came to mind immediately. Once I had a plan for what I needed, the actual clearing was simple.
Another good clutter clearing tip is to stop buying things that aren't consumable
Allie sorry to hear about your fall

Mine is ... there's just so much of it. Where do I even start!?
And in order to make a decent start, I am going to need a large block of time with nothing else planned. Where on earth do I find one of those??
I thought I might get started last winter but it was one of my busier winters. And now it is summer and nothing is going to get done inside.

I highly recommend Dana K White’s 5-step decluttering process. She is famous for decluttering without making a bigger mess and “progress and only progress.” She would argue that 5 minutes can make a difference, and I believe she is absolutely right.
Where do you start? With the easy stuff: trash, duh donations, things that have an established home - take them there now.
You do not need a large block of time. You can stop at any time. You may not be done, but your space will be better than it was when you started. Little by little, you chip away at it.

Machka Thank you. I use baking soda to clean kitchen sink but for whatever reason never transfered that thought to bathroom.
Back to starving mode. OMG! Ate 1400 calories for dinner last night after about 1000 during the day! I usually don't eat in morning until around 1130. I had to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich as I was hangry. Probably not enough water so working on that.
Love the pictures!

Heather ~ I love the cake! That icing looks YUMMY!2

DrKatie - I agree. You can do it one item at a time. One minute at a time. I love just finding one thing in my wardrobe to donate. I often do one drawer. One flat surface is always a good place to start. A clear, or curated, flat surface is very satisfying. A flat surface is not a repository for junk that has no place to go.
I'm currently hunting down little bits of limescale. Love it!
Kylia - My liquid is perfect for sinks and baths, and much less messy. My sink shines! Is it Flylady who says always to make your bed and shine your sink?

Also, do the bits you notice first. The ones that are constantly in your eyeline. That annoy you the most. Dining room table? Kitchen counter? Entry hall?

Good morning from the grayish gloom of a December morning in Arkansas,
The silver lining in the clouds is that they keep the weather much warmer, already 25 degrees warmer than we were yesterday at this same time. Most appreciated!
Just finished putting away a grocery delivery - Walmart provided one express delivery for free during December, so I took advantage. Not bad at all - ordered at 8:15, delivered by 9:15. Still won't pay their $10 usual fee afterward, even so. Usually not in that much of a hurry! Just don't want to get anywhere near there until about a week after Christmas, so I stocked up on what I could. Fresh veggies, etc., we can get in the local grocery stores, few lines.
Haven't been able to get ahead of the pain this morning, but hope to soon. Acupuncture at 1 p.m., if I can get things to settle down enough to drive to the appointment.
Later,
Love,
Lisa in AR

The cake is awesome! Looks like a snow that got blown around. He did a good job I think. I like cakes with rough frostings, not the smooth ones they make now using a sheet of fondant.

So sorry you fell! When I fall the shock of it makes me turn into a wailing woman. Long enough that anyone one around me starts asking "is she ok" (like ok in the head me thinks). Anything physical turns my emotional button on high! You are brave, and fearless, and of course don't wail.💖🤗. Be easy on yourself until after the New Year.💖

Speaking of Walmart, I find it odd that the only Walmart store here in Roswell is never crowded for Christmas. When I lived in TN, there were 2 Walmart near me and you couldn’t find a parking spot in them from Thanksgiving to the first week in January. Same thing in CT! I wonder why not here. They have a Target but that is always not crowded. The only time I saw these two places was during CoVid and they were restricting how many people could be in the store at the same time. They both had lines that went into the parking lots!

Today is a good day to go Caroling while drinking Sangria!! 😂

And... I may have powers beyond my ken... The acupuncturist's office called to say that they needed to reschedule, so I'll see her next week, same day. I'm very pleased, as, even though I'm starting to feel better pain-wise, I'm exhausted from the morning's issues, so staying here curled up and crocheting sounds a lot better than going out for any reason!
Heather - I'm proud of you for putting aside perfection to enjoy the good, both in the Christmas ornaments and John's cake. I'm still working on that myself.
Rita - The Walmart nearest me is crowded from noon onward most of the time, but nuts around the holidays. The ones in the bigger town near us are just crowded all the time. Love your 5-year certificate, what a nice gesture! Can't believe it's been that long, I remember when you first sold up and got the RV.
Carol - I loved your list, and may steal it.
Annie - Thinking about you, dear heart. Hope you've had time with your sister.
Time to just enjoy the rest of the day and whatever it holds. Hope it is/was a good day for all of us.
Love,

Thanks Rebecca- ya it was a shock..I had Alfie on a leash and luckily he came back to me after .
That basket saved me from faceplanting so that a good thing but my hands and knees are bruised a bit and of course where I hit the basket. It took alot of energy to crawl to the car and get myself in..but like I said I'll be good ,and i didn't break anything.going for a haircut and color tomorrow, so that will make me feel better..
Annie- thinking of you my friend ..5 -
Yes, Lisa, it's a huge change in me. I feel not looking for perfection is one of my most perfect achievements! Sorry about the pain.

A bag of chocolate chips for $1.69? They START at $3.99 here and go up for different brands or flavors.
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD
I was curious so I looked them up ... they start at $5 here for 200 grams (7 oz) of chocolate chips. Although they are having a sale right now so it's $4/200 grams.
I haven't bought chocolate chips in years!
Machka in Oz
choc. chips here start at $1.99 for Hershey's if I get them at the 99cent store. I watch for sales at Grocery Outlet for them all year long because I know I will go through SOOOO many bags of them. I will go through 2 doz bags easily in the two weeks I do my candy making, may be even more than that.
I did find Walmart has the best price for their brand of chips when I can't find any on sale3 -
My tea towel has arrived!
Very pleased with it. Can't decide whether to gift it to my son for New Year housewarming present, or keep it 🤔 I love it
I'm amazed the colours came out so strongly.
