Lisa - I have always felt a bit guilty because my mum wanted The Lord's My Shepherd for her funeral and I didn't realise she wanted the Howard Goodall tune from The Vicar of Dibley. So we sang the wrong tune. Several people told me afterwards.
My DDIL went to a posh school where he was the music master. She said he was arrogant and she didn't like him. Writes some good tunes though!

Betsy - Happy Belated Birthday So glad your sis and her DH are there with you this holiday season. Bet the walk along the river was neat.
Margaret - If I would have realized Macy's had Frangos I would have made the 30 mile drive to the "big" mall. Great memories of Christmas shopping with my best friend in downtown Seattle in the 70's and 80's when the Frederick and Nelson (originator of Frangos) department store was still in business before Macy's bought them out.
I also like See's candies, I think that's a west coast brand. Looks like they had "pop up" stores at some places around here, including the "big" mall. Next year.
Annie - looks like Amazon carries Entenmann's. I used to buy Entenmann's around here and thought they were the best donuts and pastries.
Heather - so nice to see the grands around your table enjoying themselves as always. You can't beat the smile on your DH's face. Is it Christmas morning there? I need to check the world clock.
Sue in WA - let us know you how like your Air Fryer. Santa brought me a small "Ninja" brand one and it's still in the box. I read differing opinions on whether to use parchment liners or not. Input welcome.
Think I'll throw together that broccoli/caulflower "crunch" salad. Cut up the fresh veggies into little chunks, add some toasted walnuts and a bit of mayo. Might throw in some dried cranberries. Craving fresh veggies after yesterday.
Then supper - spanish rice with browned turkey burger. Will top it off with some chili flavor beans salsa, and a dollop of greek yogurt.

Gratitudes:
Monday 12/18: Crown prep wasn’t painful, was able to breathe and flex fingers throughout the grinding.
Sunday 12/17: quiet time with tea, Joe and the dogs.
Thinking about goals and word for 2024. Toying with the notion of “Stronger, smarter, sweeter” and “Savor.” We’ll see.
Annie (((hugs))) words fail. (((BIG hugs)))
Rosemarie, ((hugs)) Could your son’s visit be a chance to help a little? Ask him to pick an area of the house that he wouldn’t mind if it changed and ask him and his wife to help you declutter it, 15 minutes at a time, 3 times a day while they visit? Like Lisa, I’m wondering if there’s any grief support near you, through your church or? the “sonny do” list idea.
Rita congratulations! Recognition well-deserved!
Pip just my belated two cents. The best vacuum is the one you’ll use. For me, that’s an iRobot Roomba, since I loathe vacuuming but don’t mind emptying bins ;}
Lanette thanks for yours to Rosemarie, and for sharing your Dr. Matt visit. Brava!
Kay “… and send him home with some stuff” Fingers X’d. Even if he has no space, he could give Rosemarie an idea of what things are important to him and which others are not so much.
Michele whatever kind of soup was $5/serving?
@KetoneKaren delighted to see you pop in!
Kylia “…but dusting or deep cleaning are low on my list” Amen, sister, amen!

We had a nice christmas Eve. Thank goodness for Jess. She cooked the fish. The catfish fell in the oven, tho. Carol and Nelson came by. It was very nice to have them. Carol brought these chocolate cookies. Are they ever good! Unfortunately, they didn’t stay too long.
The church we usually went to for Midnight Mass isn’t having it this year. First time ever since we moved down here. Well, I guess Midnight Mass is getting to be a thing of the past
Did Joyce Vidral’s Cougar DVD then went for my walk around the block. Came home and cleaned the oven. I put it on self-clean yesterday (from the spilled catfish) and cleaned out the ashes this morning.
Allie – those colors on your chest match your shirt...lol I’m sure that wasn’t the look you were going for...lol
Kylia – I agree – Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, they’re all meant with good will. And isn’t that what Christmas is supposed to be about??
Wishing everyone a Happy Holiday, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, take your pick but know the sentiment comes from love
M – hope you feel better fast
I have these moles on my side. Every year when I go to the dermatologist, he always says that they’re nothing. Well...I do think that they’re nothing, but when I took my bra off this morning (the sports bra that I wear when I exercise) one of them started to bleed. So I’m going to call the office Tuesday to have it removed. I’m sure it’s nothing, but I don’t want to have to worry that it’s going to start to bleed again.
Annie -= we can get Entemann’s in the grocery store here. I just saw it in WalMart
Betsy – big happy birthday if I failed to wish you earlier
Rita – when we lived in Kennett Square, every Christmas Eve the entire neighborhood would use the luminaries. It looked so nice. I honestly don’t think the people down here would do it, tho
It seemed that Jess really liked the air fryer lid for the IP. It’s funny, how I wanted to get it yet Vince didn’t think it was a good idea. She REALLY liked the Christmas tree that was from MIL. I could swear MIL signed her name on the bottom but we couldn’t find it. Colby gave me this tea infuser. Not sure what I’m going to use it with. I can’t put it in my work mug (doesn’t fit), I really only use tea bags (I have so many that I got on sale, it isn’t even funny). The only thing I can think of is to use it with the Sleepytime tea since it doesn’t have the paper “handle”. But it’s really not a big deal not to buy Sleepytime. This is really supposed to be used with loose tea leaves. I don’t use the loose leaves, so I’m not sure how I’d use it. But I did get the sharp knives that I wanted, the wine glasses, and blowmolds. I really like blowmolds. Vince’s comment is “where are we going to put them”? I just say “you’ll find someplace, I have confidence” I hope he’s not planning to get rid of any!!!!
Barbara – the lobster bisque was $5 at Publix and each container was only 1 serving. If it was at least 2 servings, I probably would have gotten it. As it was, Jess thought the soup tasted “bland” so they put some of the lobster cakes into it. Gave the soup a bit of a “kick” but not too much so Vince would still eat it. I have one more can. Amazon does sell lobster bisque (I’m not sure how much ) but they were sold out so I got the corn lobster bisque

Debbie - I am amazed you stay as upbeat as you do with your DH/MIL sad situation. Enjoy that time with your mom.

I try and stay as upbeat as I can. Some days are easier than others. Some days, I just stay very quiet. I know everyone is tired of hearing about the drama. It is getting harder and harder the longer dh goes to his mom's twice every day-he is getting more bitter/angry/etc. I need to find the balance of being there for him but also finding a little peace for myself.
This morning, I stayed home from church to make sure all the chores are done- dishes done, garbage out, all laundry done(that is never over with all the pee pads) and I will get some food made so he won't "Have leftovers for Christmas Eve and day" like he was whining about yesterday5 -
Ack - I forgot to say to anyone who watches the Vicar of Dibley, make sure to watch through the credits--the vicar always tells Alice a joke.4

Carol, so sorry about your BIL. Prayers for all of you.
Annie, I’m so sorry the pastor changed all your plans. I hope you can get it worked out the way you want. Around here, we couldn’t change the time of a service without the funeral home’s approval. I’m giving your father a pass since his wife just died, but he really should have told the pastor there would be no changes without yours and your sister’s input.
Debbie, I don’t know what to say except hugs.
Because I knew the recycling dumpsters would be overflowing with cardboard, I took our stuff and stopped by after church today. Of course, they were pretty much full. Somebody had left a big wad of bubble wrap between the dumpsters. As I was trying to empty my recycling bag, one item at a time, tossing it over the mountain at the front of the opening into the back of the dumpster, I tripped over the bubble wrap, went down and hit the back of my head on the concrete. My bag with all its plastic went flying all over the parking lot. There were two men there - one emptying his own trunk of recyclables and the other apparently hanging about looking for aluminum or something. Neither of them even asked me if I was ok, much less offer to help me up or gather my plastic. Merry Christmas to me! Luckily, except for a small goose bump on the back of my skull, I seem to be okay. I was able to fit all my plastic and cardboard into the dumpster. Dave checked me out when I came home. The back of my pretty blue wool coat was covered in parking lot crud, which I treated all the folks in Publix to seeing when I stopped on the way home from recycling. Oh, well! I don’t have eyes in the back of my head (only a goosebump). Lol.

Betsy Happy birthday!
DrKatiebug so sorry you fell. And what is wrong with folks that won't come help! So rude.
Allie, I know you fell a bit ago, hope you are feeling okay.
It's almost the last minute to wrap presents. Pretty soon.

Betsy ~ Happy, Happy Birthday!
Heather, Michele, Allie, Pip, Kylia, Rebecca, and Others: Thanks so much for sharing your holiday photos. We barely decorated this year and DH was not interested in riding around to see the lights. We did see our son's family last evening and went to our favorite Mexican restaurant. They will stop by tomorrow to exchange presents.
Katie ~ So sorry about your fall and the thoughtless men. I have noticed lately that there are a lot of rude people during this time of the year. But, have to say there are others who smile and are nice and helpful.
Lanette ~ Your crunchy salad sounds Delish!
Michele ~ Glad Jess liked here instant pot top. What did you mean the cat fish fell in the oven?
Heather ~ In the photos, Max and Edie could be twins and Bea is totally different. I am guessing she more favors your DNL's side of the family.

Merry Christmas Eve everyone. Tomorrow I’ve decided to go see mom, my sister will be there. Won’t stay long, we’ll see how it goes.7 -
Katie- Sorry you tripped and that the guys didn't bother to help you
Thank you for the kind words and the hug- can never have too many of them
Just catching up here.
Went to pick up a crab to take to mom's. Should have picked it up yesterday morning when we were there. DH said he would just pick it up this morning on his way back from his mom's. He forgot so after we ate we went to get it and they were sold out. Not a huge deal but would have been nice to have with dinner(but, one less thing for me to do for our dinner tonight when I get there). I will make some oyster stew and cook up some shrimp to go with it in a shrimp cocktail or just in garlic butter.
I think mom has church tonight so I will have a little extra time to cook.
Son and his girlfriend are coming up later tonight-that was their plan as of yesterday.
Dh was going to buy a roast duck at the Asian market when I got the crab but he didn't feel like picking one up while we were there- walked out empty handed. Already have his rice cooked- not sure what he will eat tonight. Not going to worry about it. There is a whole ham he can cut up for tonight or tomorrow if he wants(pre cooked)
Heading to mom's in a half hour. Looking forward to a quiet evening for just her and I. I am sure she will be tired so not much visiting tonight but that is ok. I will be there with her.
My favorite cousin is supposed to come out to mom's tomorrow- will be great to see him. He gives the best big hugs. Have missed those. I don't see him very often. I will cook and we will eat by 1 at the latest so the kids can leave to go to the girlfriend's aunts house and then I will leave so can make an appearance at MIL's house. Then home for gifts at our house if the kids are home. Otherwise, they can sit under the tree. DH doesn't care about them. He still hasn't bothered to open the gift I gave him for his birthday- it will be expired by the time he does(it is snacks)if he lets it sit a few more months.
MERRY CHRISTMAS ladies
Thank you for all your support and love- it is greatly appreciated. So special to me
Debbie

Gratitudes:
Wednesday 12/20: minimal traffic downtown and only three people in line at the Post Office.
Tuesday: 12/19: Dry and warm in our cozy cabin in the woods above the sea.
Trying on “savor”. Every breath, sensation, sight, sound, not just taste. Since I’ve slowed down, might as well enjoy every moment… or at least be present/aware
Lanette at first I was angry at the gal who cherry picked the free box donations then sold for a profit, but maybe that’s her way to make a living? Is it really stealing to take something from a free box? Then again she’s appropriated and profited from something that someone else needs who couldn’t afford. Life is so damcomplicated!
Heather thanks for the cleaner recipe! the tea towel.
Rebecca $71 for Ramen, Gyoza, a drink and treats? Those treats must have been GOLDEN.
Rita and Michele: Katla is in a safe place with her daughter and grands nearby, but misses her mfp friends and Oregon. Don’t know how her husband is doing. Been thinking to send her greetings from her mfp pals, copied onto a word document with profile pics. I don’t feel comfortable sharing her mailing address at this time, but would gladly compile any greetings y’all would like to send her.
Allie Oww! For both Alfie’s nail and your fall. (gentle hugs) Good thing you have sMiles pics to brighten any day.
Lisa the plan for the bookshelf, especially the photos, bookworm and bookends… “powers beyond my ken” Doubtless!
Pip the pic of the pooches.
Machka I’m not sure, but I believe that is the case with Katla.
Carol the “reminders for hard days” Number 4 reminded me of the country song “when you’re going through hell, keep on going…”
Kay “…better than it was when you started” you inspired me to borrow the e-audiobook “Decluttering at the speed of life” .
Rebecca what you said about the shock of a fall. And even though we’re conditioned to respond positively to “Are you ok” the correct answer is a wailed “Noooo!”12/19: ZERO sets PT, chair yoga, Jeopardy walking. Steps:7941‘nother two days accountability and two pages caught up.

Heather-glad family made it through Covid. While it is nice of them to be considerate-maybe suggest in future they give you a heads up! Either way you would worry but it is different.
Machka-keep an eye on the deep congestion. Covid presents a variety of breathing issues.
Kylia-the fog this morning was indeed something. It was still fairly foggy when I went for my walk-it made it seem a bit mystical. My DIL sent message from Chandler, AZ that they were under the same sort of of fog alert.
Annie-too late in the day, but I remember that Danish. I don't buy such things and hadn't noticed them in a while. A quick google shows they still sell them at Krogers around her (not sure what the chain would be called in in your area, I know it is Fry's out west).
Betsy-happy belated birthday. Sounds like you had a wonderful day.
Katie-glad your fall wasn't worse. No clue why people wouldn't inquire if you were ok.
Had good visit with my two brothers and their wives. Got to see a couple of nephews and grand nieces I haven't seen in a while.
Home watching some football. Need to order a couple of gift cards for on-line delivery. Need to wrap three presents for grandsons I will see Tuesday. Need to activate the on-line part of gift. They are sports balls and a glove from Dribble Up so they can have some online training. Interesting concept to me. It meets their computer/screen attraction and their goal of improving at sports.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio7 -
Katie That is awful! People suck sometimes. I am glad you weren't hurt worse.
The only productive thing I did today was cut my DH's hair. I wrote in my journal, visited with nephew and his family for a short while. Went to visit a friend, but was denied at the door. She tested positive for covid today. Dropped present and came home. Did get in hot tub and made bed;) Started to take nap, then decided to go through some papers. Well, I thought about it anyway. 🤔 leftover chili for dinner. Relaxing is important.
Safe travels!
A dark winter night. The children were nestled all snug in their beds. ......Merry Christmas to all! And to All a Good Night!
