Thanks for the idea @polskagirl01 . My box is probably too far away, but you never know as the crow flies it might not be. Maybe you'll get some colder weather soon.
@chris_in_cal Poor baby. I feel so sorry for you having to put on your hoody.
Great running @yirara ! Those runs are so hard, but you hung in there. I hope the next one is easier. I hope you figure out how to get in some running next week.
You're doing great @Laurz9191 .
@shanaber I almost missed your post that you are on a spontaneous trip to Zion. Enjoy the view and snuggles!4 -

My plan called for another foundation run or cross training today. I decided to walk 3 miles on the treadmill for cross training. I watched an episode of Long Lost Family while I walked. I like that reality show. It's interesting to see the different reasons that people were given up for adoption and how, despite being raised by others, they are often so much like their birth parents.5 -

The weather was calling for 21° feels like 13° this morning. I debated about running at lunch again. But it is hard and a little stressful to run on my lunch break so I decided to suck it up and go in the morning. When I got up it was 18° feels like 7°. The weather app said 42° feels like 33° at lunch. I almost changed my mind. But I decided that 8 mph winds was better than 15 mph winds, so I ran 6 miles in the morning before work. It was kind of tough, but not too bad once I got going. And by the time I got home it had warmed up to 21° feels like 13°. It should be warmer tomorrow. I am definitely ready for spring.
@shanaber I'm glad you were able to get away. Hobbes looks very cozy.

We are loving Zion as I knew we would. It is cold but so beautiful. Very relaxing. I did try to do a small (very small) little hike down a trail with carved steps and realized I was getting myself into a bad place. I really wanted to go down but after maybe a quarter way down I was feeling so unsteady I had to pocket my phone and hold onto the rocks to turn around and make my way back up to where Hobbes and Frank were waiting for me. It is frustrating that I was so strong and fit and now a few steps do me in... Oh well it will be my goal to get back to where I was.
Photo dump under the spoiler - I couldn't just pick one or two. 😊9 -
Back to the old stomping grounds, this training plan is a bit slow on the ramp up. It's okay, better than too fast and getting an injury. After a couple of weeks running is feeling good again, and more smooth.

- Jan 6 - 1.06 miles
- Jan 8 - 1.15 miles

@shanaber amazing! Id love to do that one day3 -
Morning all.
Office today... Got in 3.39 at 09"427 -
Hello everyone. I got in 10.3km in the snow. The kids have a snow day today, so I was able to start a bit earlier. I enjoyed the run but it was hard to adjust to the different types of snow cover. I think I might refunction a pair of my old shoes for snow running by adding more traction.
It snowed a lot yesterday and the fresh powder was hard to work through. But, it was beautiful! My only other company was a cross country skier, someone walking his dogs and another snow runner like me .
So far 120.6/200km.7 -
02/01 3.52 miles

I walked on the treadmill yesterday for almost an hour as various inclines and felt great. No soreness or weird twinges. This is the fastest I have felt back to normal after a race, which probably is a good indicator of my fitness level going in.
I went for an easy run today and again felt really good. I'm using the Garmin suggestions for the next 5 weeks leading up to my next race. Mostly I need to maintain fitness so this is a good time to see how their plans work for me.8 -

As the weather is about to get *kitten* I decided to run again today. Running programme said 15min warmup, 5min fast and 3min slow x 4, cooldown. I managed to do 3x fast without cooldown. Hey, something. And things went much better than yesterday's run.7 -
Heading out for my first walk/run in almost a week. Saw this unusual and rare vision in the sky. 43 degrees, feels like 39 and a brisk wind. Forgot my running jacket when heading to work this morning, so with 3 thin layers on, will see how much I get in. Wanted to get something in before heading back home because temps are starting to drop already.8

I waited until lunch when it was 28F and ran 5 miles. The road was mostly clear but I had to dodge icy patches here and there. It's supposed to snow another 1-3 inches starting tonight.
Love all the pictures! @shanaber - Your photos reminded me of my time backpacking in Zion, Bryce and Escalante two years ago. Glad you listened and turned back on your hike when you felt like you should. Many people don't have enough sense to do that putting both their own lives at risk and sometimes those of the rescue teams. I imagine it's hard not being able to do all that you once did, but it is temporary. I know that with your strong determination, you come back stronger than ever!
@mari33a - Stunning view!
@daria0919 - I read about that light streak in the sky but I don't remember what they called it. The photo that I saw showed 2 of the streaks very clearly.

Thank you for sharing these beautiful photos with us @shanaber! I’m glad you’re enjoying some outdoor time in such a beautiful place. Hubby and I have been there as well as Bryce. Have you been to Bryce as well? I had no idea of what it was like and was amazed by its beauty as well.
Hope you’re doing better. As always, ((hugs)).

For you visual learners, in the spoiler is the Garmin's Race Day Widget video.1 -
@chris_in_cal I'll let you know what I think. I also like having some structure most of the year. I have found I am more consistent if I have a plan on my calendar.4
-
@shanaber gorgeous pictures! Glad you were able to get away.
@martaindale what is your next race?
Got in 8 miles this evening. Was able to get to run outside today 😁 But it will be a short streak...cold coming back tomorrow 🥶

@martaindale what is your next race?
I'm going to Georgia for the Skidaway Island HM. As luck would have it, the course is pretty flat and the weather has a chance to be decent. So I'll probably race this one. See if I can shave a few more seconds off and maybe stay vertical this time!7
