Heather - Your empathy is showing. Yes, going to Hawaii to see the grands is just out of the question for now. A lot of people travel and at least try to have a reasonably normal life with Crohn's, but as soon as the thought crosses my mind, I have days like the one a week ago. I fully understand the inability to trust your body and how frustrating that can be. I really wanted to go see my sis a few weeks back, but it's five hours in a car each way, and I'm just not there yet. Her car won't make the trip, not dependable, so it was a no-go. 🤷🏻♀️I try to have patience, but pretty sure I came installed with a limited supply.
April - I can only imagine how these last two months have been for you.🥺 Many good thoughts coming your way for you and for your son's recovery. So glad he's progressed enough to be near you! 👍🏻 Your voice and presence will be of great help in the coming months.
To all of our beautiful ladies whose husbands have died: 🥺You've lived through my nightmare, in all honesty. I despair at the thought of losing Corey, and can only hope that his being nine years younger will give us a leg up on the statistics. If I have worked it out right, we'll croak over within about five minutes of each other. When I was married to the ex, I used to dream of burying him about once a month, and would honestly wake up happy with the idea of life after he was gone. Not doing that anymore.
Tracey - Kinda loved the 1960s textbook advice. I ran into a few old, old books at garage sales after I married the ex that made me snort similarly. Not to put too fine a point on it, but textbooks were, if not written by old, white men, certainly vetted and edited by them, and it shows!😀👀😹
Went to the store with Corey yesterday--I've found if I commandeer the cart, I can walk at my pace, rather than trying to keep up with that six-footer's long-legged strides. Also "worked" out in the yard with him while he cut some of the big, threatening dead branches off the trees. He was doing this (after all our discussions!) from a ladder, with either the big chainsaw or a polesaw with a small chainsaw at the end. Pretty sure my heart and adrenaline system got a workout, if not my body.
Did try the polesaw a couple times, looked easy when he did it... and it yanked me around like those games of Pop the Whip when we were young. Finally got through to my lazy little brain that I have to get started back on strength training again. I have the weights, I just hate doing them, and I need to get over it and do them anyway. My upper body strength is more like al dente paste than muscles. Time to move again... and now the weather is warm, my joints are screaming much less. No excuses.
Off to make him his second cup of coffee and get some things done...

All the dating profiles say "love to travel" but I think I might be done. I remember being in Cartagena and choosing the cafe that looked like it might have modern plumbing, and my boyfriend thought I had chosen the most American. He thought I was timid at exploring. I was trying to judge how much ice tea I could drink given the next bathroom would be back on the ship. Always tracking the next bathroom is not fun.
I did my bike for ten minutes and walked for six. Yay!

April- So sorry to hear of your son's injuries; but glad to hear that he will be moving to a care facility closer to you! Also glad to hear of his recovery. It will be a slow journey, I am sure; but our bodies and brains are able to heal. I will keep him in my thoughts for healing and skilled physicians. Quite a few ladies have been through similar injuries of family members and I am sure will chime in with their encouragement and support. Hugs!
It has been a little over a year since I have seen my daughter and grandsons in real life. I visited them in January of 2023, but the last time they were all here, was October of 2022. Baby Javi wasn't quite one year old. He is now a little over 2 years, talking, walking, running...Miguel is 4 1/2, and Joaquin will turn 7 while they are here in March. There was a large gap in our visits because they were saving and planning to move up here at the end of this school year. They have since moved it back a year; so that means one more full school year in Texas. *sigh* It really makes me wonder if they will end up moving here...I have hope. ttfn xoxoxo KJ9 -

(((April))) I am learning in the Vitality Summit our bodies have a tremendous capacity to heal given the chance. Your son is lucky to have you on your side. When my son was in the ICU I would go to YOU tube and listen to calming music as I sat with him. I know it helped me and might have helped him too. I googled healing music and a vast selection popped up.
Yesterday's topics on the Summit were on how to make your home safer by reducing or eliminating things that are know to be toxic or in Case of EMF electromagnetic frequency think Smart TV's 5 G Wii beginning to find out effects they have on the body.
After listening to the EMF discussion I thought of you Rita. Maybe the universe was telling you to ditch the watch. Bluetooth, devices that send signals to your computer all add to the EMF exposure. We are not going to go backwards with EMF instead we are adding more and more. What I can do to reduce exposure is turn off my 5G router when not in use. I will have to start limiting me time on the computer. Turning off my Smart TV when not in use. Turning off cell phone when not in use. Keeping cell and cordless phones away from my head. No bluetooth ear plug. Uses corded ear plug if possible (getting harder to find) Using my landline (yes I still have one and intend to keep it because I do like to talk to friends on my phone but do not like speaker phone because of the echo) when talking to friends so I do not use either my cell phone or my cordless phone when having long conversations. No wireless body scanners for me like Apple watches etc. It is the frequency that these signals give off that are not in accord with our natural frequencies. The speaker said another important thing to do is get out in nature, garden, walk barefoot in the grass.
They also had speaker that gave me ideas for reducing my exposure to plastics, buying bamboo toothbrushes instead of plastic. Ditching cleaning products that use petro chemicals. The first thing in trying to limit toxic exposure is to limit what comes in. I have started turning on my air purifier when I sleep. I leave off the ozone feature (that adds pollution) I threw out my Febreeze. Anything made with petro chemicals and smells adds to air pollution.
Further working on my diet with organic when I can, minimize sugar, gluten, oxalate foods. Grassfed or organic meats when I can. Free range eggs when I can. Fermented foods that come in glass if possible. All yogurts unless I start making my own come in plastic.5 -

Good Sunday!
Yesterday was quite the day. In spite of that I hit my goals for the day. First thing in the morning, I "broke"my DH. His back as been doing well, but now he is in pain again.:( Good thing we go to chiropractor tomorrow. I then sliced open my index fingertip on hedge clippers while showing them to a customer. May need to butterfly it today. The bandage was tight enough to hold it together. Man it hurt badly especially as I use my left hand so much. Survived the day. Worked on cross stitch last night. Oh....and I found out from my DB that my DYD and her family ARE going to our Aunt's celebration of life this coming weekend. She never told me. Like I said, rough day, hurting for DH, embarrassment and pain for me, and hurt that DYD doesn't share. I can't let her actions control my emotions though.
I did read along yesterday.
Pictures of exes I have a few in albums. Most of the ones of ex husband went to our girls. However, he and his wife are in other important event photos with us. My DH is a jealous man, but doesn't feel that towards my ex husband. Ken and I rarely talk except for events for our girls, but we do get along. I explained to DH, Steve, early in our relationship that Ken would always be somewhat involved as we share daughters and grands, but he was an ex for a reason.
April That is great news about your son. Prayers continue. There is hope. Machka's DH proves that!
Kelly That is amazing that the spaceship turned the little girl around. Yay! Any child would be lucky to be in your care. Great job on the loss! I gained weight when I did family day care.

Michelle in NV My DH puts a value on everything! My best decluttering is done during hunting season! I miss him hunting in Kentucky and being gone for weekends for 2 reasons...1)I got alone time 2) I could seriously get rid of my things without him griping or needing an explanation. Alaskan cruise is on my bucket list. I have never been on a cruise and want to see Alaska. I would be excited too!

Annie Proud of you for getting taxes done. I do have a question.... maybe personal...does your dad wear boxers? If so, I just wouldn't worry too much about him outside in them as they look like shorts. If tidy whities, well, then I would be concerned. I like that you are considering your future! As Machka has said knowledge and preparation go a long way. You certainly have your hands full. I will say your family is lucky to have you. Hugs for you in caring for all your seniors.
Terri We have just spent the last two weeks going from springtime 50-60 degree weather to snow and 20 degrees. This week we will be close to 70 but yesterday was 30. It is crazy weather!
Makeup I can't imagine having to always be "madeup" for my DH. I can see why the 60s were so thankful for women! My DH has seen me at my best and worst. How do you really know a person if you only see one side? I would like to wear makeup again just for a more polished look, but have yet to figure out how to do that on my "mature" skin.
Lisa NOOOO! Chainsaws and ladders are do BAD!!! My adrenaline would have been a 10 also! I am glad it all turned out well, but NOOOO!
Betsy You are doing great! if thrift store won't take bats maybe check with a local baseball group or school. LOL on comment about using weights. I may take a page from Lanette's book and start walking while carrying them. Lifting mowers in and out of cars does help, but I know I have lost muscle over past few years.
Time with DH I like my "down" time, but found that I need to spend some time with him in the man cave to keep him happy. So I try to balance that. Sometimes that is a hard line on the "me" time.
Well, I have now written a novel, but caught up! I took bandaid off finger tip to let air some then forgot that I took it off. Opened back up cut-:( It is now cleaned again with butterfly and bandaid. I rarely do anything half asK! DH still "broken". I started paperwork for sleep study last night. I had to ask DH about some of the questions. He said that since I have lost the weight I snore very little and only rarely. Of course my appointment isn't until May30th.
Off to start my Sunday!
Nothing big on schedule but don't want to be a total slug. Then again I do have a cross stitch that I would really like to get done before May 13th as it is for oldest granddaughter who will turn 21!

Got a surprise message yesterday from an old high school friend. She and a couple other classmates are planning a 50th reunion in October. My feelings are mixed about attending. One the one hand, I would love to go, on the other, I have family up there in New England so would need to visit them (Mom and sister, son, and a daughter). I would also have to stop over in TN to visit my middle daughter who gets very jealous if anyone changes plans or lands in Nashville but doesn’t stop to see her. Stopping in TN would be the most affordable because I wouldn’t have to rent a car. That daughter is self-employed and doesn’t hesitate to go to the airport to pick me up. In New England however, I would have to rent a car. Besides the jealous family members, my DH has BPD and acts like a 6 year old whenever I travel. I invite him but he always says no and just pouts. I know it’s part of his mental issues and gets over it, but it ends up being months of him pouting and arguing about me going. I COULD drive, I compared that with flying, but it would be 2 days to TN and another 2 days to New England one way. It is cheaper, I did the math, but again, my DH would be left with no vehicle and I would have to be gone about 2 weeks to make everyone happy.
After writing this, I probably won’t go. Too many negatives, too many people to try to see, though I would love to. I’m just torn. I know it would be good for me and my relationships, and I haven’t seen them in 3 years (a lot longer for high school friends). DH wouldn’t go if I drove, which would be a great solution to the costs, and the dogs could come with us. But from past experience, he wouldn’t go. 🫤
Just running this by you all to help me try to decide. I will also need to save up for the trip no matter what I choose.

Here is a picture of the yogurt made with coconut mile. This one is vanilla flavored. They have all sorts of flavors but that this would be a good test. I did the math and the price I paid made it about $1 a serving, which what you pay for those single serve cups. So for me, worth it as I’m not to do much dairy for my kidney diet.
On the topic of kidneys, proof my watching my diet is working. I was sent to the Nephrologist with a GFR of 47, 12/27 it had gone up to 67, 1/23 it went up to 69 and 2/13, my last blood test, it is 73, so I went from stage 3B to stage 2 just by the diet. I would rather continue this rather than the expensive med he recommended.

KJ - I keep forgetting to say how happy that little girl's face made me. I know that your heart soared when she began to join in with the other kids. Well done on the spaceship and everything you do for these babies.
Kylia - I'm starting to join Corey in the kitchen (he cooks dinner every night). Well, I'm kitchen-adjacent, anyway. When he shows he wants company, I go in and sit on the barstool at the kitchen counter and let him lead the conversation. He's not a guy who talks about his feelings, but I think he wants that company sometimes. It gets me out of my recliner, too, which is a good thing. I don't take my phone or my crochet, I just stay and talk when he wants. Good for both of us. So far, anyway!
Michelle NV - I'm sorry the anti-depressants aren't settled yet. Always a tough journey.
Margaret - I admire your dedication to the propositions you raise on what's good for us and what is not, but cannot, in all honesty, rearrange my life simply around what I'm afraid of. It doesn't seem like a peaceful way to live when so much of my energy would be invested in avoiding what I fear. That is not to say I don't listen to what you say and respect it--but I choose not to add most of those prohibitions into my life, with full knowledge, much of that knowledge gained from you. Thank you for continuing your crusades on these matters. I'd much rather make an informed decision, even if it's negative.

Good afternoon 🌞☕
The temps have been crazy here in southern Indiana this past week. 20’s and 30’s at night, and 40’s to low 50’s during the day. Today is supposed to get up in the low 60’s, and in the low 70’s tomorrow! Good indication that Spring is trying to arrive.
I’m not allowed to exercise right now per doctor’s orders, but I got a wonderful suggestion from a MFP friend a couple of days ago. Even though I can’t exercise, I can make purposeful movements. Light stretching, shoulder rolls, toe lifts and ankle circles, leg or arm massages…. All are things I can easily do from my chair. I was so happy I couldn’t wait to get started! Most people wouldn’t think of those things as exercise. But when you are housebound without using a mobility scooter, and have difficulty even walking to the bathroom on your own, It gives you something encouraging to do. Gotta keep those muscles from tightening up!
Lisa - It’s nice to meet a fellow crocheter here.
I’m in the process of making a blanket for my newest granddaughter, who is 7 weeks old now.
Debbie - I LOVE eating fresh tomatoes and cucumbers while gardening. Sugar snap peas are another favorite too.
Tracey - My goodness you put a lot of work into that binder! I wish I had the patience for things like that.
Lanette - Congrats on getting some home improvement you wanted completed, while getting in some good exercise too. I was going to tell you to PLEASE be careful and make sure you have someone there with you, when you’re doing those kinds of things. I noticed in your latest post that you had that covered with your neighbors. Thank you for the well wishes.
Lisa - Thank you for the well wishes, It is really appreciated, and I do feel a bit better. That Phoenix puzzle is so pretty!
Heather - Has your doctor checked your liver lately? The symptoms you are experiencing are the same ones I started with. (stomach distension and uncomfortableness, and eventually pain in the upper right side of my belly area) I hope it’s not that, but you might want to mention it at your next doctor appointment.
Rita - I almost cried when I read about your husband and his siblings. There are some evil people out there.
Terri - That is awful to hear about your daughter’s dog. So hard to go through.
Annie - Machka gave you some really good advice. Memory loss can progress very quickly sometimes. Please look into your future options asap to be prepared, “Just in case”.
Tina - I hope your migraine is better today. I’ve only had a few thankfully, and never want another one. I was so sick and in so much pain, I couldn’t even lift my head up off the pillow.
Grandmallie - How cute is SMiles and that big grin of his?! Hope you’re able to get your allergies under control.

Debbie – I remember one year I was staying with my aunt. We would eat tomatoes out of her garden. So good so warm with the sun. I ate so many that I, literally, got physically sick

That is the best way to eat tomatoes and cucumbers- Dad would keep a salt shaker in the little metal shed in the middle of the garden(had his rototiller and tools in it).
We would also grab a bell pepper and fill it with water and drink out of it.
A LOT of the veggies were eaten in the garden.

He sold out of all the Godzillas so we will be getting the printers going again as soon as the order for more filament gets here and he gets home. He now has three more shows lined up and, two of those I can go with him and we get the full booth to ourselves. Each are one day shows. One is a small show but his friend runs it and isn't charging us any booth fee and it is only 30 min. from us, in Vacaville. The other one will be in Lodi which is about an hour and 15 min. from us. That one we will have to pay the full booth fee but I think it will be worth it. $140 for the day. It is higher than some other shows- They are paying $210 for two days at SacCon next month-he is spliting that with his friend.
Prices range from $10 for the smaller ones to $75 for the largest with lights- $30 for the ones in the rose colored metal frames.
We don't have more of the thick acrylic bases but did order some that are like that but thinner at 1/4"(those were 1' thick and heavy)
He can do custom orders. Just let us know size, type(which Godzilla you want- like the OG(original) or the more current version)
I can't wait until we can start booking cruises again. That won't happen until either MIL goes into a home or she passes away.
Last trip we had was the very beginning of COVID. We were actually on the Princess ship that got quarantined in the bay. We were so lucky. We were actually on the cruise that was getting off when the doomed cruise people were getting on- that was a close one. Our friend was very sick after that cruise but didn't know what it was at the time(still don't know)>
I want to do the Alaskan cruise. Ours so far have all been west coast, down to Ensenada,Mexico and up to Victoria BC. We take cruises out of SF because they are so convienent

regarding pharmacy tech Kirby said he would walk 20k steps a day and always standing. Even when working in the IV room, they didn’t have chairs

April - I've been thinking everything under the sun. Liver, aneurysm, etc. I had liver bloods done last October, and they were normal. It's a lot better at the moment.
Legs are rubbish. I keep on doing my exercises. . Doing sit to stand whenever I remember. They hurt. This afternoon I couldn't climb the stairs without hands, but after a nap, I could. Strangely, the main pain has changed legs.
Our hospital doctors are on strike again. Even if I get a diagnosis, I may have to wait a very long time. I may have to sacrifice a cruise for private treatment. It's against all my principles, but I am of more use to the world as a healthy person who is not in pain. I have so much more to give.
Nothing compares to the sickness of a child.

my former hubby's second wife made him get rid of all pictures, etc of me. She was extremely jealous. He did keep one hidden from her. I had sent birthday cards to him a few times- just wishing him well, hoping he was happy, nothing more. He never knew about them because she had thrown them away. That is why I had no contact with him for 20 yrs.
She also told his parents to not have any contact with me. I found that out from my former FIL after she had passed away. We now chat often and I send Christmas gifts every year to them. Same with his brothers.
Met them when I was in 7th grade so have known them a good part of my life. I love having them back in my life. To have a "dad"figure back after loosing my dad is very special
