How About We Don't Delete Newsfeeds
Replies

I didn't realize what happened, I kept trying different browsers. That was the only reason I've stayed so many years. Bummer, I guess I'll look elsewhere after talking to the pals i kept in touch with.4

Came in to search why my feed looked so strange now I see losing the profile went ahead ... considering it's 13th June has anyone found an alternative they like? Been with MFP since 2009 but this is a joke and a huge disappointment 👀2

#SAVE OUR NEWS FEEDS I NEED MY MOTIVATION FRIENDS1

It is a horrible decision to remove the news feed. Fitness with PALS is so much more productive than ALONE.3

👋 Hi, popping in to say I'm seeing your tags and discussions and doing my best to read all of your feedback and pass it along.
It may take me some time to respond to questions, but just know that I am seeing them and trying to find or think of solutions for the things that I can control.
@Betty - I bet this app will lose a lot of money because people will not renew their PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTIONS!! Having the privacy and friendships in the NEWSFEED is an extremely unique and important part of MyFitnessPal. I for one will be one of those that will not renew premium if a GREAT solution is not found for keeping the newsfeed or its equivalent for us to keep our privacy and our friends!
Since you say you’re STAFF you surely must have some means of stressing the importance of keeping the newsfeed to the developers. PLEASE HELP US!! - thanks!!
I absolutely regret renewing my premium for a whole year just before finding this out about the news feed.
When I came back this time I was hoping to curate a new news feed with active friends that can help keep me on track. wow. talk about a letdown.
shame on you MFP.4 -
Retiring the Newsfeed feature - SO DISAPPOINTING
The myfitnesspal spin doctors say "We are always evaluating our offerings to improve our members’ experience on the MyFitnessPal app. The Newsfeed is a RARELY USED feature. Therefore, we have removed it ...".
I have used the MFP App on the website and via iOS, in combination with Fitbit, for 7 years 8 months. In 2016-2017, over a period of 14 months, I went from 87kg (192 pounds) to 58.3kg (128.5 pounds) and increased my overall fitness and wellbeing considerably. Since achieving my goal, I have used MFP + Fitbit to monitor my diet and exercise in a self-imposed maintenance program, knowing that at my age (79) metabolism slows and the weight goes ON more easily. I had a short break from using it, and re-joined. My current streak is 1,575 days.
Contrary to MFP's "reason" I have used the Newsfeed EVERY DAY for the entire period and found it MOTIVATING. I have a "community" in real life, and, as a high self-reinforcer, have not felt the need for an online/virtual cheer squad to spur me on. I am casting about for an alternative to MFP to track food and exercise and monitor my weight. PLEASE REINSTATE the Newsfeed feature, and thank you for reading this. (PLEASE EXCUSE CROSS-POSTING)5 -

Thinking of cancelling and leaving mfp too. This was the worst idea they’ve ever had. Sick of all the glitches8

I've been playing with mynetdiary today. Loseit is not even close. While it seems the direct newsfeed of friends that we're losing here isn't well implemented, mynetdiarys spin on social interaction definitely works for me. Theres implementation of pictures, gifs and upvotes which are all missing on loseit. It's also a younger app, so we might even be able to get them to implement new features like the one we're missing. Add to this that it is smooth, not buggy like here, with an intuitive interface , and its arguably a superior platform. The only thing I personally dislike is the recipe creator not having a bulk add option, but that's relatively minor all things considered. I was iffy on loseit, but I will likely fully migrate here.

The forum groups trying to replace the News Feed completely misses the point of the filtered News Feed.
They move it so the users upset that the newsfeed is gone have trouble finding it!!4 -
Bring back the news feed1

THank you for the info and the invite...but I'm happy with Loseit. I have a great group of friends over there and we've settled in with Loseit. It is very sad that MFP took away the newsfeed but look at the resilience of all of us finding our way to stick together with our "PALS"4 -

There are currently 21 threads going about the newsfeeds! I may be missing some. 😮4 -

I started using MyNetDiary yesterday and am already enjoying the community aspect. It's probably going to take me a while to adjust to the logging though, as I've used MFP for so many years!
There's an MFP migrant group, too. @Spadesheart invited me, over there. Now I see them here. Hellooo! 😆1 -

Yep! Which seems underhand and doesn't do them any favours. I am a graduate of a health coach school who teaches about MFP in one of their modules. I'm going to be contacting the founders of said school about looking at alternatives to teach.4 -

It also keeps new posters from seeing the general unhappiness and upset (and links to competing platforms).4 -

It's not the only underhanded thing they have done. Alot of mfp users were giving google/apple reviews as 1 star the past month. Then all of a sudden "Developer Response" was commenting on all the 4 & 5 star reviews to bring them current and hide the bad reviews.2 -
Spadesheart wrote: »If anybody wants to try MyNetDiary, I just made a group there similar to the one on loseit for people migrating away from MyFitnessPal. Their newsfeed functionality is actually better than myfitnesspals at first glance. I've just been playing with it today, but the main issue for me seems to be the recipe creator, otherwise everything is more sleek and quite a bit less buggy. The news feeds actually more functional than the one here ever was.

Apparently I made an account there back in May to check it out when the news about the newfeed came out. I will have to take a closer look.1 -
Even if they do, the ones who left probably won't come back.2

That's obvious. Being exceptional we are more obese with more disposable income than any other market. Dupe-able too. We're number one!
And no letter "u" in color.
(obviously...sarcastic humour) <--see what I did there.

Or perhaps not as marketable in Europe because the database for the US is much more complete? I've had so many missing and wrong entries using the barcode scanner, certainly not worth paying for in my country.1 -

I was bummed when I realized this wasn't haiku.
I used to play in the forums a lot before they took away the ability to see the last 3 posts your friends made. What's the point of adding "pals" now without a news feed? I thought about going to eatthismuch but I've spent so much time adding the things I eat to this database, the idea of having to do it all over again is just...ugh.1 -
CaffeinatedConfectionist wrote: »What value does MFP offer over countless other calorie and tracking sites and apps once this feature has been removed? The social aspect was a key driver for many, and while the news feed may "not have been used by many," what proportion of actually active users utilize it? There must be thousands of defunct accounts on this site and app that are being counted among those who are not using these features, and I'd anticipate that many of those that remain active - and, importantly, serve as promoters for the site and app - are those that use these features. I will no longer recommend MFP to others, as there are other apps with more robust and accurate calorie and activity databases and sites with more active forums and community boards. The only thing that made it stand out from a crowd of similar apps was the ability to create a robust and supportive community of friends.
This is 100% on target. Without the newsfeed, there are much better options out there for calorie/exercise tracking.

Here's an off the wall question. Is it wrong to still send out friend requests?1
