It was another hot morning. 81°F at 5:40 am. It was a pretty morning, just windy and hot. I ran 6.25 miles. I kind of felt like I was on auto-pilot this morning, It was an uneventful, but nice run.

28C after dinner. I spent all of yesterday sitting in trains, which usually means my following run is not good and my muscles cramp up. Today wasn't too bad.4 -
quilteryoyo wrote: »Great running @Teresa502 . We had storms here early, so I ran on the treadmill.
I was already at my desk when the storms hit here. A co-worker sent me a video from her car and the rain was blowing the wind sideways. I was glad to be inside!
My guess is that you were probably sore from not having worked those particular muscles in that specific way for a couple of weeks. It's crazy how one exercise can hit those spots! Doing a walk as a warm-up before you ran was a great way to loosen them up.3 -
Glad you had a nice run @kgirlhart .
@yirara Glad your run was better than expected.
Thanks @Teresa502 . I'm glad you were inside when the storms hit. My mom and I and my neighbor have tickets for the local Appy League baseball game tonight. I hope it doesn't get rained out.2 -
yay, thanks a lot @quilteryoyo I'm sure all will be back to normal tomorrow. and it will likely be hotter 😅1

Just getting back into life after the weekend. Had a fun time with kids in Austin.
@martaindale glad you got back home safely and jumped right back into your running routine. That is impressive. Glad all is ok with the house, except for the empty refrigerator.
@AlphaHowls thank you for putting up the August thread!
@quilteryoyo I'm with @Teresa502; I'm sure the DOMs is doing something you haven't done in a while.
@SummerSkier glad you got your Fitbit issue figured out. Sad about your horse trailer, but I agree Facebook marketplace is a great way to buy/sell stuff. I found my treadmill on there several years ago.
I forgot I set my new training plan to start last weekend, so already behind I tried to run Monday morning, but after 0.10 miles I stopped because my stupid shin started hurting really bad. Walked back to the house, but then decided to try again. Got in 1 mile then just stopped. Didn't hurt as bad, but still was painful. Today I tried the treadmill, and got in a good 5 miles without pain. I know it sounds like the hard concrete surface may be the culprit, but shoes are new. Anyway, I'll probaly stick to the TM for a few more days. But I did manage to hit my low monthly goal, so that's something.

I finished July with a slow and very gentle 5k - my lower back is achy (from Sunday's long run) which is a sign I need to roll my quads (they're pretty tight too). Anyhoo, I took things easy today and my Garmin (which I am beginning to view in much the same way I would a batty aunt) tells me I'm productive, and have been since the 23rd, and put my VO2 max up a point!
Managed 177.57km for the month - nicely passing my 100 mile goal (110.34). Somehow I need to add 23km to meet my August goal. The plan is to add 2km to my Sunday runs - so 14, 16, 18, then 20km each Sunday, and make my Thursday 10k a Thursday 12k. And as long as I don't miss any of my other runs (only one 5k missed in July), I should be good. Wish me luck!7 -

Hard to believe. I only need to run about 3.9 today to actually make 100 for the month. Should be ok but I played tennis really hard yesterday. LOL.
See yall on the flip side. Thanks AlphaH for setting up August.6 -
@Scott6255 I'm glad that you had a fun weekend with the family. So sorry your shin is still giving you problems when running on the road. Hopefully a few more days on the TM will be all that it takes. Could you possibly have a defective pair of shoes?
Great running in July @ContraryMaryMary . I hope rolling your quads helps your back.
Great running @martaindale , @henridw2095 , and @AmunahSki .
@SummerSkier You can do it. I'm glad that you got in a hard tennis match. That's always fun.

@AlphaHowls Beautiful picture!
I took yesterday off, because we had too much sun and heat exposure the day before and it really took a lot out of me. Today I wanted to get a longer run in. I finally decided to try @martaindale ‘s frozen hydration pack trick. Total game changer! After 7km the ice had melted and I just had nice cold water. Of course it was still really hot and I was dripping sweat by the time I got done, but it made running in the heat up in the hills a lot more enjoyable. I ran 13.1km.
At the end of my run I always stop at a nearby French bakery to get breakfast for everyone and then run the last ca. 500 meters carrying bags of baguettes and the like. I have gone pretty much every day since we’ve been here and today all the workers started asking me about the running and whether I go every day. They were very curious. I thought it was really cool that they asked and it was a nice intercultural exchange . Tomorrow we are planning to go to Cannes in the afternoon to check out the city and look at the yachts and cars we could never afford (my 9 year old especially likes to see all the fancy cars), so hopefully I can get a morning run in before we leave.
269.6/200km for July.6 -

Afternoon all.
Got in 5.75M (at 09"48)
172 miles for July. So beat target comfortably (even with 2 days off whilst in Berlin!).

151.84/130 miles completed for July
It was another 81°F feels like 85°F run. I saw a skunk this morning, but other than that it was just a repeat of yesterday's run. I was a little annoyed because I stopped for water and forgot to pause my watch, so my overall pace was 12:06 and mile three was 13:53. Mile one was was slow at 12:13, but all of the other miles were under 12 minutes and I think I was stopped for about 2 minutes, so mile three was probably more like 11:53. I shouldn't let it bother me, but it kind of does. My VO2 Max did go up a point though, so I guess that was good.
I was just shy of 152 miles for July. I'll have to look at the calendar for August and decide what my goal will be. Congratulations to all who made their goals this month. I look forward to seeing you all in the August thread. Thanks for setting it up @AlphaHowls!

Easy peasy treadmill run this morning in the A/C.
I woke up at 2:30 this morning and just couldn't get back to sleep. At 3:30 I finally gave up and got out of bed. My brain wouldn't shut off. Usually I can shift my focus and fall back asleep but not today. I am feeling super tired this afternoon but have to stay up so I can sleep tonight.
See y'all in August!7 -
@kgirlhart I hate when I do that. Even though I know it doesn't really matter, it bothers me when I mess up my watch.I finally decided to try @martaindale ‘s frozen hydration pack trick. Total game changer!
Yay! Glad it worked for you. I think it makes a big difference too. Running to a bakery sounds like a great idea!2 -

I’m happy to say I’ve met both my goals for the month. 180 miles on bike & 50 running.
My husband and I really liked Marseille and sitting along the pier in the evenings. We've stayed there twice before, last summer and 2 weeks after the football riots in 2016. We when to the pub that was on the news expecting it to be a wreck but it was like nothing had ever happened. We're planning to stay there next summer again for a few nights too on our way home from our driving holiday.8 -
Congratulations on getting it done @Teresa502 .
Excellent mileage @AlphaHowls .
Great running @Laurz9191 . Glad the frozen hydration pack worked. It is cool that all the workers at the bakery were interested in your running prowess. Have fun tomorrow. I love to look at fancy cars too.
Great running @tarun_yadavA !
You did great @emptydog .
@kgirlhart Things like that aggravate me too. I usually look at the elapsed time vs running time and subtract the time Garmin said I was stopped and then update the run data. Great running for the month!
You did great @martaindale . I hope you sleep better tonight.
Congratulations @Mari33a ! You did great!
Congratulations to everyone who met their goals or gave it the old college try. You all inspire me and keep me going.

Barely squeaked out my goal mileage. I'm pretty proud of myself, considering the trip and other things I had going this month.
Looking back here, it seems it was almost 3 weeks that I didn't go to the gym. No wonder I was sore.6 -
