Beach 4.03 Mile (at 13"24 pace). 75 day streak.
My Sunday "Morning" run commenced at 11:00 a.m. I was talking to a morning runner friend who said he can be running five to ten minutes after waking up. I am incredulous and resistant. I'll keep trying.4 -

Yesterday was a rest day. I went to my great niece's 5th birthday party. It was fun. Today I ran 10.3 miles. I should have gotten out earlier. It was 78°F when I started and 88°F feels like 94°F when I stopped. The last mile I was really regretting not starting earlier, but it wasn't a terrible run. It was just hot. I had to sneak into the cemetery again. I guess whoever is supposed to unlock it was running behind. I saw my hairdresser. He lives in a no smoking apartment building so he sits out in his car to smoke. I also saw a hummingbird and a bumble bee at the park.
@martaindale I am glad your power is back and your in-laws are close enough to check on everything. I have some cousins in that area and as of yesterday they still had no power. I haven't heard anything from them today, so I am hoping that means they are back up.and running. It looks like you are having a great time in Japan.
@Chris _in_cal. I can't do anything 5-10 minutes after waking up. I need at least an hour before I am ready to run. You are really killing it with your streak! WTG!

This morning I biked 13 miles on the Guest River Gorge trail. This is another rails-to-trails but it is only 5.8 miles in length. Going out from the trailhead it was so chilly. The out is all downhill. It was 66F but the trail is next to the river in a gorge. Thankfully, I had a long sleeve tech shirt in the car that I swapped out for my tank top. After my ride, I loaded my bike and drove to a nearby state park and ran 2.66 miles on the trails there. It was a slow, recovery run after yesterday’s trail miles.
The railroad spur was built to transport coal to the main line. This tunnel was built in 1922 by the Swedes who had immigrated to the coal fields of southwest Virginia. The railroad was abandoned in 1988 and the railroad donated the land to the national park service.7 -
@steviebee888 Great running. It is hard to fit everything in some times.
@Teresa502 Great running. Which trail did you run?
Nice running @ContraryMaryMary . Sorry the ginger ninja was that far ahead. He must have been doing speed work to make sure you didn't beat him again. Sounds like a healthy competition.
@VO2Maxlet Wow. Those are long sessions at the arcade. Glad you enjoy it so much.
I'm glad your house now has power @martaindale and glad that the in-laws (and their dog) had AC for the night. Glad that you made the trip safely and are already running and enjoying the sites.
Nice running @chris_in_cal . I agree with you about the early morning running. I have a really hard time running before I eat anything in the morning, esp. if I am going to do a longer or harder workout. So, it takes me about an hour to get out the door, which means getting up even earlier if I have to be somewhere later. I guess that's why I don't do it often.
Very speedy @tarun_yadavA . Seems I recall the last time your youngest tried to stay up late, he crashed. Enjoy the time with the boys.
Welcome @b4fvjsjvd9 . Get out the door and let us know how it goes.
Great interval run @yirara .
@kgirlhart Your great niece and mine are so close to the same age. Mine will be 5 on 1 Aug. That's a great age. Very nice running in the heat.
Very nice biking and running @Teresa502 ! That looks like a really nice trail.

@VO2Maxlet wrote: »On top of today, I also got blisters on my foot. I know my moleskin setup today was bad, since I couldn't cover the entire ball of my foot, but does anyone use special running socks to help remedy these things?
I use Balega hidden comfort and hidden contour. I know they also have blister resist socks.

Ran/walked a 10K on treadmill due to humidity and thunderstorms. This brings my total mileage thus far to 21.3 miles out of 50.
Everyone have a great night!5 -

I can be out the door in 15 mins. That's what I do for the pre-work 3 mile runs. 3 miles is the limit for what I can do fasted so anything longer than that I need about an hour for a little food and a cup of coffee.5 -
We had a busy day so no running but I have a few pictures. We visited Arashiyama, went for a rickshaw ride, ate some delicious lunch (which I totally forgot to take a picture of), and did a little shopping.
Yesterday afternoon I wandered down some streets around our hotel and found this beautiful shrine.8 -
Morning all.
Got in 7.56M at 09"23.
Mopey about yesterday's loss.
@quilteryoyo haha! Game kicked off at 8pm - so he was okay (and finished by 10). It was the boxing title fight that was a midnight start where he KO-ed (pun intended) before it even started.
@martaindale lovely pics!
@Laurz9191 nice run! Hope you have fun with your folks in town!3 -
No running today but I did meet 4 friends at 5:00 am and we rucked for 4.26 miles.
@quilteryoyo - I ran on the Mendota Trail on Saturday, rode on the Guest River Gorge trail on Sunday and ran on the Sugar Hill Loop and Riverside trails at Clinch River State Park after the bike ride.
Love the photos @martaindale! Keep 'em coming!3 -
Great pics of Tokyo and the family @martaindale.
Saturday night we went to see Jerry Seinfeld at Winstar Casino just north of the Texas border. He was hilarious. Mostly talked about things that are annoying as he gets older, which I can certainly relate.
First time I've been to Winstar (or any casino for that matter). As much as people love them, I really don't get it. There is sooo much extravagance, excess, and overindulgence. As much as people are complaining about the economy and then going there and seeing all the money that is being thrown away almost turns my stomach. OK, sorry for the editorial. I'll climb down from my soap box now.
Got in 7.1 miles this morning. There was a tiny breeze, but it was still so so hot.

Nice treadmill run @steviebee888 .
@martaindale Looks like a great day! Love the family picture.
I hope the run helped improve your mood @tarun_yadavA . I'm glad the game was over early so that no one slept through it.
Great exercise @Teresa502 . I love that you have so many trails nearby. I wish I had some that were closer to me.
Glad you enjoyed the show @Scott6255 . I will admit I liked going to Vegas when I lived in California. (Yes, I know that Vegas is not in CA. LOL But I was close enough to drive over a few times.) I liked the food, shows, and enjoyed playing blackjack. At least with that I felt like I had a little bit of control of my fate, as opposed to the slots.4 -

Not so good. I guess running three days after another is not so good.7 -
Hi everyone!
I had to take someone to the train station early this morning, so I got off on my run the earliest I ever have in my life - 6:40 . It took me 40 minutes from when I got up to get started including a bite to eat and coffee. I wouldn’t say it was awesome to go out so early, but it wasn't that bad either- I even socialised with another runner and we were the same speed so we ran together for about 2km, so I am going to try to find my inner motivation to get up and out early tomorrow so I can squeeze my long run in.
I did a quick finish run which went well and ran 14km. 148.1/200km for July.
@martaindale Nice pictures! It looks and sounds like you are having a very nice time!
@Scott6255 I don’t understand the pull of casinos either. The show sounds like it was fun though!
