It was 68°F this morning. The humidity was still 94%, but the cooler temperatures make it feel so much better. I felt really good and strong and just enjoyed the morning. I was planning to take a rest day today, but I didn't really want to and it was a pretty morning, so I just took a "restful" day and ran 3.15 miles. I enjoy my Saturday rest day, but most of the time I don't like taking rest days on weekdays. I have been running 5 days a week with a long run on Sunday, three 5-6 mile runs and one shorter 3-4 mile run. I am thinking about running 2 shorter runs and 3 medium runs on weekdays. I don't think that will be too much and I would certainly take another rest day if I felt like I needed it.

Neighborhood 1.02 Mile (at 13"58 pace). 86 day streak.
I did the "wake up by running" today for the third time.
Though it has never been my routine to lounge in bed after I wake up, my inner resistant child took over. Instead of waking up and running, I woke up and pretended I didn't by staying bed for quite awhile, then finally stood up and went for the run.
I'm still not loving it.7 -

I'm back from my FL trip. I did a fast mile with Tippy before leaving the hotel in SC. I'm glad because I didn't have the time or energy to do anything after I got home yesterday afternoon.
Today, I got up and did a treadmill session. I wasn't feeling it and honestly thought about just walking, then just walking one mile and running one. But, once I got going, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting, so wound up with 3 miles total. I did 0.5 miles at 3.8 for warm up and cool down. The run was a run/walk of 2/1 min at 4.2-4.9/4.0 mph, then 3:04 min at 5.0 mph. My avg HR was 122 with a max of 144 bpm.

Awww. Those are great pictures of your youngest with Charlie @tarun_yadavA . I'm sure it was/is very hard for him.
That looks like a really fun party @mari333a ! The groom needs a bowtie though.
Looks like you are having a great time in Japan @martaindale . I do think Tokyo is a bit too densely populated for my liking. I did like that they had tennis courts in the picture. The bonsai trees are cool and it's hard to believe that one is over 500 years old. I'm glad it was in a place where someone kept taking care of it for all that time.
You're doing great @yirara .
Great run @kgirlhart . Congrats on the last half being faster than the first yesterday.
@Scott6255 I'm glad the pain subsided after a bit. The rest over the weekend will probably do it good. Have fun in Austin.
Hahaha @chris_in_cal . That sounds like something I would do.3 -
Good Evening, Everyone. I hope everyone is having a wonderful evening. I just finished my speedwork and completed 2 miles according to my new training plan. I have completed 33.8 miles as of today w/ 16.2 miles to go.6

I went to see Crowder last night at Fun Fest and didn’t get home until 11:00 pm so I just couldn’t get up any earlier than I did (5:30 am). I did a strength workout and then since I’m working from home today, I went to my local park that has a one mile trail loop and ran 3 of them. It was 80F but thankfully, most of it was tree covered. I still need 20 miles to hit my goal this month so I’m thinking I will do at least 10 miles tomorrow.4 -

I ran 6 miles this morning. It was 72°F with a dew point of 70° and 100% humidity. It was kind of rough starting out, but once I settled in it was a good run. I'm taking tomorrow as a rest day. My son and his girlfriend are going to Corpus Christy for a long weekend, so we will be dog sitting their corgi. I'm pretty excited. He's a fun little dog who loves to play frisbee, and he gets along well with our dog. I will probably try to take the dogs for a walk tomorrow and maybe Sunday after my long run. And there will definitely be some frisbee throwing this weekend.

Glad you had a great run @yirara . You were smart to not overdo too fast.
I hope you enjoyed your night out @Teresa502 . Nice use of your time at home and getting in 3 miles on the park loop after a morning workout.
Nice running @kgirlhart ! Enjoy the puppy sitting and frisbee.4 -

I got out this morning for a driveway wun before heading to work at daycare. I walked 0.35 miles, then did a run/walk (mostly walking the hills and running the rest) for 1.65 miles, and walked 0.25 miles for cool down. It was 72F (22.2C) and 94% humidity. The humidity does make it harder to breath. Avg HR was 125 with a max of 151 bpm when I was sprinting up a hill at the end of the run.6 -
Parkrun this morning went well - I nearly beat the ginger ninja but he’s got a sprint kick (as he should given him he’s 12 years old) and the last 200m is flat so beat me by two seconds.
I volunteered to do the course check before the event but foolishly set my alarm for the time I was supposed to leave the house not the time I was supposed to wake up so was running awfully late. I only got to check half the course but it’s a brand new wide concrete footpath, so the chance of they’re being a problem is very low - the likely hazard would be broken glass and perhaps the remote chance of a dead body - no chance of fallen trees or muddy puddles9 -
3.2km last night. It was hot and slow, and Garmin thinks I have "room to grow".11

+3.78 miles 7/24
+4.08 miles 7/26 - for 18.29 miles total so far July
tomorrow I start lifting again after a 3 week break, running felt fine, but I’m still fatigued (crashing hard in the afternoons all week long)8 -
We finished our trip out with a few days at Disneyland Tokyo. No running but 8-11 miles of walking a day! There are two parks. Both are very well themed. There are some rides that overlap with the parks in the states but they also have some that are unique to Japan. It was very hot but we did ok since we had already been here for 10 days or so.
My husband dropped his phone and killed it. Luckily that was yesterday and we only have to deal with him being out a phone for a couple of days.
Currently sitting in the lounge at the airport waiting to fly home. We have a direct flight to Houston, about 12 hrs. With the time difference we will land in Houston 2 hours before we are taking off here. Time traveling! It's going to be a long day. Just a short nap on the plane then I have to stay up until bedtime to get back on the correct time zone.
We are going to visit the grocery store to keep ourselves awake and restock our empty fridge and freezer. And I have to cook tomorrow because I lost all the food I had prepared ahead of time. I'm planning on a run tomorrow, probably not too long because I have to cook but I think a little exercise will help adjust my schedule.
We'll, I'm out of here! It's been fun. Good job running the last couple weeks everyone.9 -
My July Goal is 3 days per week, which I am keeping to:
1 July - 1.7mi/2.74km
3 July- 1.8mi/2.89km
5 July - 1.88mi/3.02km
7 July - 1.84mi/2.96km
10 July - 1.79/2.86km
12 July - 1.88mi/3.02km
14 July - 1.93mi/3.1km
17 July - 1.84mi/2.96km
19 July - 1.84mi/2.96km
21 July - 2.29mi/3.69km
24 July - 1.84mi/2.96km
26 July - 2.28mi/3.68km
Total so far 22.91mi/36.84km
Tomorrow’s run has me scheduled for 30 mins (20 mins plus an optional 10), which will be just short of running a 5k… if I run a little during my warmup/cooldown periods my goal of running a whole 5k is probably within reach! Can I resist? Should I resist?
24 July - 5 minutes walk, 15 minutes ‘easy pace’, 1.84mi/2.96km. HR av 124, max 146 (Z5 0%, Z4 29%, Z3 38%, Z2 13%). Felt tired today (after 3 days driving around in the car).
26 July - 5 minutes walk, 15 minutes ‘easy pace’, plus 5 minutes optional, 5 minutes walk, 2.28mi/3.68km. HR av 128, max 155 (Z5 0%, Z4 5%, Z3 38%, Z2 25%). Having spent two days and a sleepover with my grandchildren (aged 5 and 7), after dropping them home started my run at nearly 9pm… wondered if I’d be too tired but it felt really good to be on my own, outside in the cool air.
My PR’s:
1k: 7:03
1m: 11:38
5k: 48:04
Longest run/walk - 5.18mi/8.36km
Longest run - 2.29mi/3.69km5 -
Morning all.
Got in 5.75M at 09"17.
Anyone catch the Olympics opening ceremony last night?
What a wet and miserable affair!
(No comment on Celine Dion! )8 -
So close @ContraryMaryMary ! You did great to only be behind him for 2 seconds. Don't feel too bad about the alarm mistake. I do that sometimes too and then wake up and panic. LOL
@noblsheep I agree with @chris_in_cal . We all have room to grow.
@henridw2095 I hope the lifting goes well and you feel less fatigued soon.
I hope you have a nice flight home time traveling @martaindale . Sounds like you had a great trip, except for your husbands phone.
@AmunahSki You are doing great. I say go with how your body feels tomorrow and if it's all good, go for the 5K! If it's not, then don't feel bad about stopping when the plan says to. It's all good and you are improving. That's what counts.
Nice running @tarun_yadavA . I started to watch the opening ceremonies, but turned the channel. Watching a bunch of athletes float down the river wasn't impressing me. I'm sure your "friend" loved Celine.

I had a hard time getting to sleep last night. Garmin says it was almost 2:30 am before I went to sleep. I'm not sure that's totally accurate, but I wouldn't doubt it. Anyway, I really did not want to get up this morning. I finally did at 8:30, but not in the mood for an early morning run, so I waited until almost noon and then made myself get out the door. I was thinking about just walking a mile, but once I got going, it was okay. My "plan" called for 3/1 min run/walk x 8 today. I did that, but only x 5. That was all I could muster. After that, I ran, and walked when I felt like it. The average pace for the 20 min was 13:25 min/mile. (I also did a warm up walk of 0.39 miles and cool down of 0.66 miles.) Overall avg pace for the entire 2.2 miles of "wunning" was 13:41 min/mile. Avg HR was 134 with a max of 153 bpm.

Hi everyone!
I just caught up reading, but haven’t had time to post. Beach holidays with kids are fun but I have been falling asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. I don’t understand how it is raining in Paris. Here in the south of France it is really hot and humid! No shortage of sun here!
Yesterday we went to Marseille and spend the day and pretty much every other day we’ve been to the beach here.
Today I decided to try to run a flatter route than my mountain loop which is mentally very tough in the heat (that I am still not used to). So I ran towards the city center. After almost getting hit by a car (I had to bang on the hood with my fist to alert the driver and avoid a collision- after which a fellow French-speaking pedestrian proceeded to yell at the driver on my behalf), and then having someone open their car door on me, then repeatedly ask me in French what I assumed to be “are you ok”, I bailed on that plan and ran back to the relative safety of the non-inner city area. I never thought it would be this dangerous to run here, where cross walks for pedestrians are just a tempting suggestion. Tomorrow I will head back for the “safety” of the hills.
Other than more challenging and much shorter and hotter runs, things here have been quite nice and everyone is enjoying themselves .
Today was 11.5km. 239.3/200km for June.Marseille
Fun at the beach in Hyéres.
Sunset in Hyéres.
I finally wore the kids out!10 -

@ContraryMaryMary well done on 18K... And nearly beating the Ginger ninja yesterday!
@Laurz9191 yikes! Glad you're ok!
And what's Marseille like, the city?
Generally associated with people flying there with easyJet Ryanair etc just to use to get to what you're doing - South of France.
Haven't heard great things - but they've only been from football fans who've gone out to watch European football games.
@quilteryoyo well done on 'Wunning' after getting up late and not being in zone3 -

Stupidly, running in the heat today, so didn’t push it - over the 5k distance (40:00), run time 32:04 (2.48mi/3.99km), walk 7:56. Knocked over 8 minutes off my 5k PB!
However, I did celebrate the longest run so far by taking the route where all this started: 6 weeks ago, average pace 16:41 - today, 12:49. Noob gainz!28 July - 5 minutes walk, 20 minutes ‘easy pace’, plus 10 minutes optional, 5 minutes walk, 3.12mi/5.02km. HR av 142, max 161 (Z5 16%, Z4 37%, Z3 16%, Z2 16%), but didn’t activate my HRM band so they may be a little off.
My PR’s:
1k: 7:03
1m: 11:38
5k: 40:00
Longest run/walk - 5.18mi/8.36km
