All well here. I'm just about to order an Uber to Fatto. John and his sister are walking along the seafront.
Edie was her usual wunderkind, and it's been great having Sue, if a bit tiring. I think I will have a long nap this afternoon. It's v hot here. I want to bag a shady table.
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxx5 -
Lisa, Strange about your passport!
Heather: Enjoy your visit with Sue and then grab a long nap!
I am feeling pretty well. Maybe my Covid is gone. I will allow myself a trip to Starbucks and take a walk and come back and do some yoga. I read one of the exercises one should not do with osteoporosis is the full Forward fold. And any of the exercises with a twist! I still have not found out if it is okay to do the Down Dog with legs extended in the air and then the the leg bent to do circles.
My home looks quite picked up. I am quite pleased. I know I need to begin again, but maybe at a slower pace this time!
Best,

Happy Sunday ladies! I started this yesterday then the day flew by.
Machka - what an amazing trip. Glad to hear you aren't rushed to vacate the old place.
Tracey - I am so happy for you! Your future employer figured out they are getting someone who loves to keep busy, is a problem solver, takes pride in her work, and knows her stuff. No wonder the generous hiring package. I think my brain needs auto-correct - I've typed so much about my feet it's automatic once my fingers hit the keyboard, lol. I'm happy the power company should be able to leave plenty of trees back there for a buffer but still have access to their pole.
Pip - sounds like Kirby has planned a nice adventure. Did I remember right that you are coming up to WA this summer?
Rosemarie - so glad you enjoyed Ashville and are feeling better. This back stuff is tricky - with the SI joint problems I've been having, they say don't do twisty stretches. Just simple bridging and some yoga type stretching done real slow. I know I have osteopenia starting back there.
I have put the hunt for the necklace on the back burner (though I will look in some vases - thank you Rosemarie for the suggestion!) I decided to pray for the best outcome and let it go. Did DH hide it? Give it to someone? Did I hide it? Is it hiding in plain sight? Is it off partying somewhere with Lisa's passport? Only the gremlins know.
Better get this thing posted.
Reminder to get Weekly Check-in info to me no later than tomorrow noon. TIA.

Not rushing was indeed the plan!
Everything takes 2 or 3 times longer since my husband's accident 6.5 years ago.
We bought this new place in early April and our lease in the previous place doesn't expire until the middle of August.
That gave us the chance to get some renovations done and to move stuff over here very slowly, in our minivan, on weekends (because I've been working the whole time).
However, in early July, I became aware of the quantity of stuff (and the mess) in the basement/garage and needed to increase the pace which included hiring removalists one day and renting a moving van on a couple other days. But I continued to work so our weekends and some evenings were flat out in July.
Today was several more hours in the garden of the previous place, so we're getting there.
Thank goodness we have till mid-August!

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Well, yesterday I planned to drop off my Dad's car for an oil change, and then go out to lunch next door, but the car wouldn't start. Okay so I cancelled the oil change and called a tow truck/ battery service. The guy came and jumped the battery from a device for 75$. Then I let it run for half an hour to charge it up.
Then this morning I was going to do the weekly drive, and it won't start. Fooey. So I'm doing the only logical thing which is to have a cup of tea and recharge myself first.
The bottom line is that car needs to be sold. But my dad isn't ready to give it up. The battery guy said I need to let it run for thirty minutes twice a week. That's too much time to spend. It may be time to do something against my Dad's wishes. So then either I could tell him outright or deceive him. Hmm. He doesn't accept that he can't drive anymore. He thinks he ought to keep the car in case he needs to go somewhere.
I have another oil change appointment on Wednesday at 11. There's no point in getting it jumped on a Sunday. Maybe Monday I will call, and have them come on Wednesday morning. I wonder if they would replace the battery for us.
Meanwhile I will consult my sister about selling the goshdarn car. I would either need my dad to sign, or invoke the power of attorney, to sell it. Hmm.
Oh well. No police, no hospital, so it's not a bad day, just a challenge. We are warm and dry and fed, and counting our blessings.
Thanks for hearing me out. Good friends and a cup of tea take the sting out of these situations.
Have a great day! May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Annie- I had the same problem with DH's truck that was barely driven. I finally just bought a new battery - the cheapest one on the shelf, but it was new, and it helped with the sale when I found a buyer. "New Battery!!"
Just an idea. You might get a neighbor or the oil change guy to put it in for you.

@Tracey I love the color of the stain you are using! The table and chairs will look fabulous!
@Lisa The same thing happened to Kevin and My apps for gun licenses. He got his really fast, mine took over 6 weeks!
I’ve not been feeling well, having, I think, the sinus infection my DH has had. No pay booth for me this weekend, slept most of the day yesterday and feel like doing that again today. I already have a dr appointment on Tuesday so will wait until then to get antibiotics. ‘Sigh’ nice to share but…..
Dinner yesterday was a salad and tricolor pasta topped with Swedish meatballs, all home made except the pasta without eggs. Breakfast has been muesli with 3/4 cup vanilla Greek yogurt and 1/2 banana, supper/snack was a snack mix I made with nuts, muesli and cheese, and another that had celery, carrots, and nuts. HMM, must have orange, and kiwi today…..

Today is a good day to climb a mountain with your children and have melons and raspberry tarts on top! Don’t forget to tell presidential jokes while up there! 😝

A couple of recent photos.
Edie concentrating on the sandpaper block she was using to make me a drinks mat.
We had such fun doing some ice cream experiments I had found in a magazine article.
1) Vanilla with olive oil and seasalt
2) Salted caramel with crispy bacon crumbles
3) Salted caramel with blue cheese crumbles.
She was disgusted with the cheese one, and violently spat it out! Olive oil was interesting and OK, but the bacon one was delicious! She had two portions, and then ate the rest of the bacon. We all enjoyed it.
She also brought over a cotton lawn quilt she had been given when she was a baby, and still sleeps with, but Bea managed to kick holes in it. She brought her sewing kit and said she was going to mend it. It is badly torn, the stuffing coming out, and very frail. I suggested we back the tears with iron on supporting fabric and then I will do my best to oversew it. So we ordered the iron on stuff from Amazon and it came yesterday. I have a big job on!
It's a long drive for Sue, who is 71, but she wanted to go to Fatto a Mano before she left. I gave them a head start for their walk, and got there on the dot of opening time by taxi. They had already arrived and bagged the exact table I wanted outside.
I am so grateful that she is able and willing to come all this way. She loves Brighton and Hove, so is happy to make the effort. The lasagne she brought was great, but I wasn't so keen on the salad dressing. We are having leftovers tonight.
Machka - Fantastic train trip! It got John and me talking about possible overnight train trips we might make sometime. There is one to Fort William in Scotland from London. And one to Cornwall. I love trains.
Vicki - Ouch! Hope you can quickly get some meds working on that!
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Annie: I had a terrible time keeping the battery of our disability van charged as we drove it less. The battery died at least 2x in the driveway. Then one day I had the yard man charge it and I was driving up and down the hills to get out of my subdivision. Well the battery died going up a hill. I barely made it to the side of the road. It took Triple AAA several hours to come and it was on a curve and I stood for several hours making sure traffic coming around the curve saw the van. Then when Triple AAA came they did not have a battery to sell me. So they charged the battery again and made sure I got home. I can't tell you how I got the van to the Toyota dealer to purchase a new battery. Maybe I had it towed. I can't even remember. I just know I was good and ready to sell the disability van! Enough was Enough!
Best,

Rebecca – rock hard brownies dunked in milk are quite good actually
Lisa – I don’t sew much other than something straight. I used to sew a lot, but haven’t done much in quite a while. Those towel toppers look neat. I put frozen fruit (strawberries, blueberries) in yogurt, let the berries thaw and that makes a “juice” for mixing in the yogurt.
Took a walk around the neighborhood
The Corner Table has this canned food drive that they’re having this month. Each of the churches in the area are participating. They weigh your donation and credit that much to your tally. I picked up the donations from my church on Fri, took it to them, they weighed it and we had over 400 pounds. They’re collecting again so I need to see if I can pick up the donations on Tues after work and then take them to the soup kitchen to be weighed or wait until Fri when I go there anyway.

I was able to chat with him yesterday, (his birthday) and he said the newer box wasn't too bad. I told him to dampen a paper towel, wrap them and microwave them for a sec or two. Like they just came outta the oven, (well hopefully)!
He's doing good, just work, sleep repeat these days. He does get an hour when he can, to play a computer game he enjoys, but that's about it. Sailors lead a physically taxing, and mentally draining life.💖⚓🇱🇷

Hello, my chickadee-dee-dees...
Been a lovely, rainy, cool day, at least what I've seen of it! Back to sleep at 9 a.m. and up again at noon to snag a little lunch. Corey loves the lemon tart I made last night--I had a tiny sliver of it before I napped out and it was sooooo rich. Not my bag, but don't mind making it for him at all.
The rain's moving off as I speak and hopefully taking my sinus headache with it. Been struggling with those for days. Maybe rain again in the morning, and will be driving into town to get a poo sample to the lab and have them draw blood as well, at the request of the gastroenterologist. Results should prove interesting. Hopefully everything will show improvement. I certainly feel improved.
Well, other than the headache.
Heather - always good to see Edie's beautiful little face. I loved sending my husband and my best friend and her DH off for a train trip through the Ozark mountains, but the movement combined with the flickering light through the trees here makes me yurky. 🤢 Survived one of those little excursions, but declined the same trip five years later! 👀🤣 Looks like lovely fun with Sue, as well.
Machka - Always good to see you posting again. You're part of our even keel here, dear heart, and a voice I always look for.
Allie - Good to see Miles' little face concentrating on his PlayDoh. 🥰 The good thing is that every pound you can lose through your diet will make it easier and easier to get moving as soon as you're able. You'll get there! Proud of you, darlin'.
Rita - Sorry about the sinus infection!
That's about all the info that stuck. Hope everyone's having a reasonably peaceful Sunday. Time for some TV and a little crochet...
Love y'all,

Annie This is what we bought for our Subaru when we drove it so infrequently. The guy from AAA recommended it when he came to jump start the battery. We bought it at an auto parts store

Kirby had booked a flight with this airline because of the price being so cheap. It said you needed to print your ticket 24hours before your flight, if they did it at the airport you would be charged a fee. He was trying but couldn’t find where to print it. When he got a rep on the phone after being on hold for awhile the rep said he was trying to print the ticket too early, his flight was at 9:30PM, he swore that it was for AM. He was pissed and wanted to cancel the trip. We were going back and forth and he could reschedule, go and take an Uber to the hotel (we usually walk) or go on another airline regardless of price and just go. I didn’t talk to him and just kept cleaning. Later, he sensed my disappointment and wanted a hug and I told him no, he asked why not, I told him I was disappointed in him for not wanting to go. I told him if it was my flight he would do everything possible for me to go anyway. He said didn’t cancel the flight, so he booked an Uber and his trip is back on.7 -

I got back to NW WA last night. Ella and I came home almost two months early because my sister has some medical appointments. I am so far behind but will gradually catch up. Hope everyone had a good spring and is enjoying summer. I had a good time and am glad to be home. I plan to rest up.
