Morning, my chickens,
A tad early - up at 2 a.m., but after yesterday, that's no surprise. Not sure what drives those energy-full days, but I do have a tendency to make hay while the sun shines, so to speak, and get shtuff done! 😹I forgot to mention I also stopped at Auto Zone and got my windshield wipers put on. It was on the way to the courthouse...
Today will be getting crafty things done... this is the rearranged craft room - the first two pictures are looking left and looking right, and I didn't do a terribly good job of stitching them together... 🤪🤷🏼♀️🤣 The last one is from me standing in front of the french doors, looking back down the same room.
When I'm sitting in front of the TV and talking to Corey at night, I'll be building these. They still need to have leaves, stems and tendrils on the top, but making the body of them takes very little time with a big needle and embroidery thread. These were built from the sweaters I picked up at the thrift store (and washed when I got home). And the washer did finally drain and spin on the 6th try! 👀🤔🤪
Later, babies,
Lisa in AR

Heather - Boo to the UTI and yay for the decluttering!
Barbara AHMOD - Yay for the decluttering for you, too! I took five things to the thrift store to donate - not only do you get the satisfaction of decluttering, as well as for giving to a good cause (United Way, here), and you get a coupon for 20% off of everything in the store!
Michele - Yay for the oven!
Monique - I have one piece of clothing, a pair of jeans, from when I weighed 300+ pounds. They were a size 36W, and far, far too tight at the time. I put them in different places each time I come upon them, and it's always a boost when I run across them again at the bottom of a drawer or the top shelf of a closet. Keeping a piece of clothing from your top weight really makes you proud of yourself over and over again, something we can all use!
Annie - Thinking about you, girl.
Stuff to do, things to make!
Later,
Love,
Lisa5 -
Good morning all:
Lisa-you were industrious!
Annie-a good cry is cathartic-something about tears releases things that can help heal us. We all need one occasionally.
My big news yesterday was hearing test-walked out with hearing aids. I had noticed the decline (evidently most people start losing hearing about 15 years before they do anything about it). I have moderate loss. Got a rather top of the line bluetooth pair (I had done a bit of research before heading out). I view them as a device that increases my independence. They are very discreet and they do make a difference! I am going to a meeting in a room this morning that I had noticed trouble hearing some people (some voices harder to hear than others) so that will be a good test.
Blood work from last week very good. Can't remember if I posted-got my first A1c test ever-it was 5.6 so good on that (not surprised). Vitamin D is moving towards low end of normal. With thyroid stuff it tends to do that and I do feel better with a higher level. My trouble is knowing how much to add. The office does sell supplements (not surprising). I think I will stop in and buy one of theirs and see what dosage, etc. and see how I feel. I can change up brands later.
Need to get stretches done. Have meeting this am and interviews for new assistant this pm.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio7 -
I walked to the furthest charity shop with my trolley of donations, because the nearest one is a bit run down. I thought my stuff was too good for them! I do give stuff to them occasionally.
V pleased with self. Walking improved a lot since last week when I did the same distance. I noticed that I was walking properly with my feet rolling , not shuffling. Haven't been able to do that for ages, well before the ops.
Got my wad of cash out and had a coffee, after buying a gorgeous seeded sourdough loaf.
Then got my Dim Sum. Then stopped at the health food shop and bought a nice gluten free seeded loaf for Edie. Looks appetising, for a change. Plus pine kernels to make pesto before my basil bites the dust. It is 20 months old now! Last chance saloon.
Some time today I'm going to put some stitches into Edie's baby quilt. It won't be usable on her bed, but she can display it somewhere. Do I risk washing it? 🤔 Probably not.

Lisa - you sure had a busy day yesterday. Isn't it something that as we get older, we know where the nice bathrooms are around town and what time they open? The last time I used Walmart's at the front of the store, it was a nightmare. Flies and everything, it reminded me of the nasty ones at Midway Airport in Chicago when I was flying back home over 20 years ago, maybe they are nicer now. The one in back of the Walmart store employees use is usually clean and not crowded. My favorites are Walgreens, Tractor Supply and the county courthouse. Good job on the pumpkins! And what a lovely craft room, so much room to work and storage.
Michele - your kittens are so cute. Are any of them friendly - like to cuddle? I remembered to use that eye gel before I went to bed last night and it helped a lot. Hope the eye drops do the trick for you.
Heather - I'm always happy to hear you are venturing out and resuming your regular activities. How's the UTI?
Tracey - good luck finding the cords. DH has a couple boxes of cords in the shop, I need to go through them and see if any will fit the one little radio I have. The rest are destined for the garbage I guess. If I was a kidnapper I'd have plenty of strong cords to tie my victim's hands and feet together before I threw them in the trunk of the car. OK, come to think of it, I might save a few. Might come in handy tying something together in the chicken run.
Ginny - I bet the hearing aids will be great. I think we don't realize how bad our hearing has gotten until it's been helped by them. On my list for next year. I'd love to give the higher end "over the counter" ones a try if they were available locally. Price is a lot more reasonable than what I paid ten years ago, glad these are available now. Good news on the labs too.
Monique - wow, seems like every time you turn around this past week you are hit with a big bill! Hope the car warranty covers this. Glad to hear your AC is fixed. Great job on the weight loss. When you retire, if your mother is still living, do you plan to move her to Chicago too?
Question - do any of you still have your wedding dresses? Mine was a little cream color street length skirt and top, not really wedding-y. It's hanging in the back of the closet, I had starved myself down to 129 lbs to fit into it back then - I was 25. DH and I got married in my grandmother's parlor, just family present. Huge snowstorm, snowdrifts to battle but the pastor made it out to the farmhouse. My dad had to plow the road to get him back into town. Anyway, I'm thinking I should put the outfit in the donate box.
Barbara - I think I can always find something in the fridge to toss. Even with a cleanout, seems there's a jar or something questionable in the crisper drawer that was hiding! So glad to hear your energy is back and you are out and about again. Did the water tank get fixed? Is everything back and working again?
Heading to town this morning to grab a few things. The weather blast furnace is turning the heat up to the mid 90'sF here for the next few days after today and I just don't go out shopping or running errands/doing lunches when it's that hot. Period. I'm starting to take the weatherman's advice for a change to stay inside where it's cool if possible.

Lanette - I am using an old computer connection cord , knotted, to keep the French windows in the dining room from blowing open in the wind. I stop it closing by jamming a pair of John's plastic gardening clogs in the gap. Not elegant, but it works. Those old computer cables are strong!
Antibiotics working 💪
Tonight's dinner is broccoli and homemade pesto pasta. With peas, broad beans, and artichoke heart. Parmesan. I use wholegrain spelt spaghetti. Feels super healthy.

mcmillonmail wrote: »Pip, I remember when my son was a Junior in high school, he had a crush on his Latin teacher. She sponsored a trip to Italy, where they biked 42 to 45 miles daily. If it was my daughter, I know she could do it. The thought of my son doing it when he had not ridden a bike in years doing it was hilarious. If I suggested such a trip, it would be an immediate no. So we told him we would come up with the money if he took his bike out of the shed and started training. He told me that it was too dangerous to train. So the money stayed in the bank. So, Yes, Pip, you are even out doing a then-teenager and now a young adult. I asked my son if he rode the city bikes in NYC, and he told me that it wasn't safe. He is a walker and a runner.
I went through my closet, and I have plenty to donate to my mom instead of ordering from Landsend. Unfortunately, my mom is fitting my fat clothes. My favorite pieces are swimming on me. That is the good news. Some clothes still have tags on them. I have a size donate pile from my DH and me, too. I am excited cause my clothes are too big for me. I went through my scrapbook stuff and yarn and want it all. The garbage bin is full of old clothes and cords; I don't know what they are for.
I got my nap in, and then the car place called and told me that the repairs for my car were $860.00. Are they kidding me? Talk about a rude awakening. I have 38,000 miles on the vehicle, and the warranty covers up to 35,000 miles from the warranty. We purchased an extended warranty, so they will find out how much they will cover tomorrow. Rose has to stay at camp because I do not have a vehicle to pick her up. So, I will pamper myself and sleep in my now cool bedroom. It is so nice to have AC again.
Have a fantastic night, ladies.
A lot of my riding was in Tacoma Washington which also has crazy traffic, for whatever reason, it doesn’t scare me.
I leave tomorrow for Washington. Going to take a shorter ride outside, finish doing the laundry and start packing. I never check luggage so as usual m will be taking a backpack. Going to ask sue if we could drive by our old house, it’s right off the freeway.

Jake is going to Seattle today for a consultation about an experimental procedure that might help his heart function better. A good friend is driving him. She is a retired medical professional with an interest in all things medical so she is interested in the procedure and will go to the appointment with him. He has to have a blood test before the consultation and has to fast for the test. Annie senses how nervous Jake is and she is restless right along with him,

Barbara Sorry don't know what plant the red berries are from. It was a display of all kinds of Bouquets. I liked that one because it was so creative...This one I liked to because of creativity. It is called Purple Rain in honor of Prince who lived in a suburb of Minneapolis...
I am close to getting bigger projects done...Painting a hallway done... Deck just needs touch up...planting peonies I got from a neighbor who is replacing a retaining wall. These are the heirloom types which have a wonderful smell...painting an apron on son's gargage...mow and fertilize our and son's yard...Have our front done. Beautiful week to to it...Still working them in between three lunch dates and a coffee time...choir practice.
For declutter next week is to get old electronics into recycling place. Here you cannot put them in the regular recycling there is a place to take them. Then hopefully I can use FLOW to help with more recirculating and or getting rid of unnecessary things.
Forgiven myself if paid too much and didn't use it
Let GO
Organize what is left ...Lisa you inspire me on that one!

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Lisa what a day! You have come so far!
Vicki take care of yourself! Working too much takes a lot out of you. Especially when you finally get off and have so many chores.
Debbie hope your trip with MIL goes smoothly. Do you have headphones?
Michele Yay for your oven! Wow that took forever!
Monique Yay for too big clothes!
Machka Moving is huge exercise, it's just hard to quantify. Mental and physical.
Barbie hope Jake is doing well with his appointments.
I'm really bad at decluttering. Sigh. Especially clothes.
Thank you all for being in my pocket on my sad day, especially Lisa, Ginny, Michele, Lanette, Tracey and Monique. Hope I didn't miss anyone! I treasure you all, you keep me going.
I am doing much better today. My friend texted me at 6:30 to go walking, and then to Starbucks. I was able to wake up Dad and go. Yay!
My friend loves audio, and he encouraged me to put some effort into mine. So I tuned the radio in my bedroom after months of neglecting it. And I rescued my Mom's Bose Wave from the basement. It sounds awesome compared to the music on my phone! Yay! This will really help me to enjoy being on the bike. I'm really surprised and happy at the noticeable difference.
And it's a reason to find my old CDs. I never did sign up for a music service. But I own Bluetooth earbuds and noise cancelling headphones. So there's lots of room to improve just with what I have. I use Amazon Music and I heart radio.
The tricky thing is to listen for Dad while I listen to music. Anyway, I am jazzed!
Have an awesome day, because you are awesome ladies! May you be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Ginny ~ Would love to know the brand of hearing aids you have purchased. I have been doing a lot of research trying to find hearing aids that actually help. So far, I am totally undecided. I got a pair at Hear USA last over the summer and had to return them as they just didn't do the job.
Barbie ~ Hoping that Jake will find that the procedure to help his heart will work for him.
Margaret ~ Your trip to the State Fair gave you a lot of interesting things to see and share with us.
PIP ~ Have a good trip to Washington.
Thanks to all of you who have inspired decluttering! I am doing a tiny bit at a time.
Went and got my knee x-rayed yesterday and was sent for another imaging session to see if I had a blood clot. This is the third one and it was negative. I have had a lot of trouble with swelling and will just have to continue PT and hope for the best. Otherwise, the dr seemed pleased with the healing of the knee itself. This knee replacement has been nothing like when I got the other knee done. But, I was 6 yrs younger then so guess and in much better physical shape.

Carol turns out I attended one of the least attended days which made it much easier to get to see more. I have been there when there is 3X the amount that were the day I attended. It was much more fun because of it.3

The family come home tomorrow. I will be relieved when they are back safely.
I still haven't stitched Edie's quilt. I will do it tomorrow morning.
In the afternoon we will have to move stuff out of the bathroom cupboards and then shift the cupboards themselves. They aren't very heavy for two of us.
When the family get back my son will be coming over to collect Max's new uniform, which was delivered here while they were away.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxx3 -
Tragic event in a county near me today. At the Apalachee High school a shooter killed 4 people and injured a number of others who were taken to the hospital.

Adjacent county to me. School is only about 30 minutes from my house. Still waiting to see if the grandchildren and children of friends who attend are safe. I think I also know a couple of the teachers. It is just tragic and too close to home. I served on a regional accreditation committee for that school many, many years ago.

So sad about the shooting. Prayers said for all.
