Beth so great that your mom is in a better place! Good work! Yay!
I looked at noom too, and was totally turned off by their slick attitude about money. Things like saying six months for cheap but meaning only if you buy six more months at full price. I think I did a trial which was pretty cool, with constant reminders and encouragement, but did not renew. They kept sending ads and changing the deal. Just not being straight with me.

Tracey ~ Your wedding photos are lovely.
Loved seeing all the wedding photos! I would never have guessed that Lisa, Heather, Tracey and myself had such dark hair. We have all changed.
Ginny ~ I looked up octicon hearing aids. My old hearing aids are Phonak. Made an appointment with a hearing center to see what they suggest.

Thx! Haven’t decided if I a, going to put fake greenery, fake flowers or something real.
Lol so many choices! I have no green thumb, pinkie, or any digit for that matter so I vote for fake flowers! Or collect pinecones and paint flowers😁💖

I used to say, I have no thumb, I look at it and it dies.cute idea with the pine cones
Lol, I just don't have the patience. I normally just say "live or die plant or flower"! But then when they start looking wilty, out they go.

Beautiful wedding dresses ladies! Here was mine. My eldest sister made it with a lace tablecloth, pearl things here and there, a silk slip under and a taffeta waistband. Then my paternal grandmother tatted the head dress.💖. Lee wore his cracker jacks. This week will be 40 years.
Have a great day ladies!

BethI made the Chia seed jam with fresh raspberries from the farmers market. I like fruit with my yogurt in the morning with chia seeds. Making this jam is a way to have the raspberries all week. When I buy them the fresh ones I try to use them up with a day or two. The jam was tart because I did not add any sugar. I am trying to train my palate away from the sweet taste and go towards more bitter. I learned in the book Eating on the Wild Side the food manufacturer has worked to make our fruits and veggies more sweet. The down side is oftentimes the more sweet it is the less nutritious it is for us. It is giving us what we want more sweet instead of what we need.
May you only have sweet dreams...

Busy day yesterday for me too! Got to town lay 8:15 am to have blood taken and pick up some macadamia nuts and B Complex from the health food store at Dr. Office. From there we went to McDonald’s for breakfast where I had hotcakes and sausage, starting off not eating very well. Next we went to Albertson’s to pick up a couple things there. From there we went to car wash (did I mention DH was with me for bloodwork too? We always do medical together if possible). Now it’s almost 11 am and we next went to Sam’s Club for monthly shop. Ate lunch there, I had their Kale, pasta, sun dried tomatoes, and Feta salad. Pretty good lunch. Got home and was met with campers wanting ice, but not at the same time. We were trying to put groceries away, DH was trying to blanch some corn on the cob I got to freeze, and I went with a park worker to collect money from the 3 places we have and count it. He wanted DH, but he was cooking. (It’s now 3:30 pm). Finished that and had to fetch more ice for people! Then someone came complaining of a ‘messy’ lady in her reserved campsite. Had to deal with that. Poor lady in campsite has mental issues, no car, her daughter had dropped her off and she had supplies for a year it looked like, but no reservation. She was crying and all upset because the one who had the reservation was angry with the careless person. I moved the reservation people and upgraded them to an electric site, so they were happy and told the careless lady she had to leave by 2 pm today as someone else has her site reserved for today (I stretched the truth a little to force the lady to act). By the time all this was done, I was totally stressed out. DH had talked me into buying some wine, I was glad last night and had a couple of glasses mixed with 7Up to calm my nerves. But then, I woke up at 3AM and tossed and turned until 7 am where I was sleeping good when Brownie woke me up to go out. I got up and went for a 2 mile walk before breakfast. Now trying to catch up with you all.
We should get the results of the bloodwork next Thursday at a doctor’s appointment. This evening, my computer class is supposed to start if I have 4 students. No students, no class, but I won’t find out until later today. Class starts at 5 pm -6. I will call as it is a 30 minute drive to town for a 1 hour class and I don’t want to drive there for nothing. I’ve been to town every day this week!

Tuesday dinner was leftover cheesy potatoes (about 1/4 cup) baked beans (1/2 cup) 6 oz sirloin, left over pasta fazool without the pasta, and a large salad with almond oil and vinegar dressing. Found the almond oil in the close out section at my grocery store. Nice change from evo.

I forgot who asked, but yes, Wendy’s has the $1 frosty here too.

They are doing construction around the campground this week: working on electric, pouring the cement at all the sites for new electric poles, and working on our water tower that began to fall apart. Too much going on! We are seriously considering moving to a rent to buy house the beginning of next year.

First of all I couldn't find the repair I had made in the quilt to stitch it!!! I had done too good a job! Eventually John found it, after much looking. So I tacked all around, and I hope it holds.
I used my own sewing basket in the end, but first I got his dead partner's one out from the bottom drawer of the antique bureau in the hall. The drawer got stuck and I was wrecking my back trying to close it. Remembered the tip to use candle wax, so did that, and it helped, but I have put her basket in a more accessible place now. 😀
After lunch I cleared the bathroom. I was able to move the cupboards on my own. All ready for tomorrow now. I will wash my hair first thing.
I've fried the halloumi for the curry and washed the spinach. John went out in the rain, twice, to get vegetables. Horrible day. G got soaked going to have an ultrasound on her foot. Had to buy socks, as she was in Romsey! Romsey has a famous Abbey and a super old department store, which are becoming increasingly rare.
Michael Moseley tonight.

Sure been enjoying the wedding pictures and dresses. My first wedding my mom made my dress. When DH and I got married it was very laid back.

Ladies - thank you for sharing your wedding dress stories and photos. Much enjoyed! Have you noticed how many of us look like KIDS in these photos?
Lisa, I have always loved that dress. I've never seen anything like it and you two are a beautiful couple. Yes, the expression on your face at your first wedding! I need to dig out my pictures.
Annie - glad you got the Bose set up and can enjoy listening to your music.
Barbie - Hope Jake's trip to Seattle went OK. When you mentioned they were heading to Seattle, I crossed fingers that traffic would be lighter and less congested with school starting and people home from vacations.
Barbara - so glad Mooch came right back! Good luck with the surgery.
Beth - what great news about your mom. Amazing to think of her life in the past what - 5 years or so - moving your folks closer (big job!), loss of your dad, the different places she lived. Hope this is her final home, it sounds wonderful.
Tracey - what a great idea deconstructing your wedding gown and finding uses for some of the pieces. You are a wizard when it comes to things like that. Beautiful shadow boxes.
Ginny - I'm real curious about what's going on in your foot and hope the MRI shows something definitive. My ortho foot doc mentioned getting an MRI in the midst of "it must be RA" tangent, but I let it drop since he's so busy and I'm making some progress. But I see there's now another foot doc at the practice. He must be related to Heather's handsome surgeon, lol. Maybe I need to pursue this again.
Vicki - when you retire, we're going to throw you the biggest virtual retirement party ever known. It might take down the internet!
What I've noticed with this diabetes prevention program is that a lot of it is focused on simply losing weight, eating healthier, getting more activity and exercise. Seems like a no-brainer, right? So any of us with even normal A1C and great fasting morning blood sugar might do well following this program. It took me only a few years to creep into the pre-diabetic category - weight up a little, fasting blood sugar over 100 on a regular basis, BMI stumbling from high normal into overweight, A1C up from 5.4 to 5.8 fairly quickly. BAM. Just like that.
In a way, Rita and I were very lucky that we were found to be pre-diabetic and now we know the pressure is on to make and KEEP substantial changes in our diet and activity level. Logging food and keeping track of our activity, finding ways to keep it up when life sometimes interferes. Getting back on the wagon.
No surprise, a YouTube video by Dr. Jason Fung came up as I was typing the post this morning. He's talking about keys to longevity. Getting diabetes and obesity under control is #1 (they can go hand in hand.) If interested, it's about 8 1/2 minutes long.
Stay cool ladies!

there is an older, retired Marine that I see most mornings when I am walking my mother in law's dog.
Each morning, Ron says "Top of the morning to you" or just "Top of the morning". He is always out in his yard, cleaning or cleaning the gutters/sidewalks with his little dust pan and broom. Very nice guy. I look forward to seeing him. His hearing is REALLY bad from what he has told me so I don't stop to chat much- just say good morning to him.4 -

We all know what to do. The problem is assuring that we do it consistently. Beyond knowing what to do is knowing how to stick to the plan. I've read some great books about habits that have made a huge difference. In one of the books there is a whole section about "habit loopholes" like "just this once" or "it's a party, I have to have the treat", or "it will hurt someone's feelings if I don't eat what they made" . It takes practice and resolve to say no when someone suggests or urges a deviation from the plan you're following.
I got rid of most of the pictures from my first wedding (I sent them to my ex-husband's daughter). I found two picturesthat I'd kept.
Here is a picture of Jake and me and our wedding.
My first wedding dress was designed and made by a friend. My mother and I went to San Francisco to buy the lace. The wedding was a big church wedding with a reception following at the church with cake and coffee, then another reception the next day at an art gallery with fancy finger food and wine. The marriage lasted less than five years.
My dress when I married Jake was bought at Nordstrom in San Francisco on a shopping trip with my best friend. The wedding was at a friend's house with only family. So far the marriage has lasted over 35 years.

We still don't know if Jake qualifies for the trial procedure for his heart. He talked to the doctor on the phone today. The doctor will be consulting with a bunch of other people including Jake's heart and cancer doctors and will call back in a day or two.

Anniesquats100 wrote: »Me too about hating gym class. They often made me take my glasses off, so much for hand eye coordination. I'm just glad all that is over and had nothing to do with life after school. I do okay at shooting pool, but anything that requires a ball and response time is too hard for me.
So now I have glorious music easily available, as well as podcasts. Yay!
Annie in Delaware
When I was in gym class as a child & teen, I had no hand eye coordination. I was terrible at so many of the sports they tried to teach me. Although I loved track & field and cross-country skiing.
But when I got my Bachelor of Education in my late 30s-early 40s, and took courses to learn to teach gym classes, I discovered that I had developed coordination somewhere along the way and could do the sports they tried to teach me!! I was astounded! I could actually hit a ball with a bat! I could catch a ball! I could volley in volleyball!
I guess I was just slow at developing my coordination. I wish they would take that into consideration when they teach children ... some children may not develop coordination until later in life.
I'm glad you've got music to listen to. I have music going almost all the time, and it does lift my spirits.
