I don't think I'm going there again, so I threw away the poison. I also had duplicates of things. So, everything just about fitted in, once I had chucked out a load. An old washing bag, that I thought was white. Well, it was white in my head, but it had turned into a yellowing yuk.
Amazing how we keep these things! Because they've always been there, we get blind to them. Thank you Cas!
Had 'Hairy Bikers' for dinner. Haven't had it in ages, because it requires several stages. As good as ever. Heaps of flat green beans with it. For lunch John had the left over Cottage Pie, and I took the opportunity to have one of my 'funny foods'. Wholegrain spelt spaghetti, with heaps of chopped garlic, EVO, and a bunch of fresh sage from the front garden. Heaven! John was laughing at how much I was enjoying it.
So, a very productive day. Lots of aches now from my morning exertions, but I will save the paracetamol to take in the night when I wake up in pain.
I might try a bath tomorrow. My first in a very long time, as my hips couldn't get me in, or more importantly, out. I had a grab rail put in, but even that wasn't enough. So, we shall see how I get on. I will make sure I leave the door open so I can call John if I get stuck.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx
I highly recommend you try getting in and out while clothed. If that goes OK, bathe away.

Last night, I went to bed early and woke up at 2:30 am with a terrible headache. I got up and made tea and water. I let Rose out. Then I dried her off. Tropical Francine hit and the rain and wind hit. Branches are all over the yard. I took my migraine meds and applied the Guru plant stuff to my forehead and temple. Then I put on my Ice mask. Then Rose and I jumped at the explosive sound. We lost power due to the transformer. It came back on at 10:00 am. I had to sleep without my CPAP machine. With my migraine, I didn't care. I got dressed when I got up at 11:00 am. Took Rose to day camp. Then, I had to do some tasks for my son. I guess I am still his secretary.:)
Terri, happy birthday to DH! I also want to celebrate you; 75 pounds is a remarkable feat. Congratulations Terri! I am so proud of you!
Barbara—My daughter, Julia, is banned from our home after she shut off our power to steal her brother's keys to sell his car. That hurt her brother. She had some guy with a gun, too. So, I am not speaking to her. I told DH that I would let God work on her now. I tried everything: therapist, boarding school, and more. I have nothing else. Horace took her to meet her biological mom, but it didn't improve things. So, DH is helping her now. She stole so much from us: computers and an iPad that Horace had to get straight A's for the entire year to get it. We got her a newer car, and she was never satisfied. I can relate to Barbie, thinking about the woman who drove away and didn't return. If you think about it, as a mom and wife, we had many jobs: a chauffeur, Butler, librarian, tutor, coach, secretary, seamstress, cook, nurse, and more. I was tired all of the time cause I worked full-time as well. I was depressed and eventually, without asking my Gynecologist, prescribed an anti-depressant for me and pushed for therapy for me. Currently, I feel free here in this house. I weigh less than I have in years. I think I will write a book one day.:)
Tracey, I sleep with lumbar support pillows, and my car set has one. When I fly, I remember to bring my lumbar and neck pillows. I wish I could have one at work. We all have heating pads, and the younger nurses seek chiropractic care.
Heather- you did a great job on the cabinet. I may need to assemble furniture for our new place in Chicago.
Annie- Amazon loves me already. It is nice to spend on me, Rose.:)
Lisa - I am so happy that your treatment has freed you. Now go out and make memories!
Lanette- Thank you for your kind words. When I lost Alexandra, I was grieving, and my DH decided to pursue an adoption. I wasn't ready and advised Julia's Bio-Mom not to give her up. What is so sad is that she married Julia's Bio-dad, had three more kids, and kept the one before Julia. That was a hard pill for Julia to swallow. By the time Julia was 18 months old, we had been pregnant with Horace without fertility. I lost 65 pounds just prior, getting ready for a cruise. We had to cancel the cruise because I had a high-risk pregnancy.
Pip- Send me the Link, and I can donate via Paypal or Venmo.
Kylia, those pictures are so beautiful. I love the sky's lavender and coral colors with a ceil blue. The mountains are majestic. My hand doctor is getting older, but he is energetic and handsome. I do wear splints for carpal tunnel. My cousin had surgery for that, and she still has problems. So far, there has been no improvement in my thumb, and my other finger locks up, too. My thumb is the worst due to the pain when it is stuck. I have to do sinus washes and four sprays. I am on Allegra and benadryl too. I do believe honey does have medicinal purposes. I take honey in my tea and English muffins.
Rebecca, I hate that you and Lisa have been experiencing vertigo. It is a horrible feeling. I know it is hard when you hear that your son is having health issues and you are not near him to make sure he is okay.
Margaret, my toilet doesn't refill. I must manually refill it with water to flush it in my room. Are you going to fix your toilet on your own? Maybe I should research YouTube.
Beth, Thank you for the recipe. I just printed it off to add to my Recipe book project.
Vicki- My friend Bonnie and My DH are from Nebraska. My DH is a DieHard Cornhusker fan.
Did you get the link I sent you in a message? See if this works

Mo I won't get the part until next week. If it doesn't fix the problem I think I need the whole over flow part replaced. I look it up on YouTube and then decide if it is something I can do or have to call the plumber at least I know what the problem is.This is a low water toilet so it has this extra part. Of course that is the part that is causing the problem. I will just leave tank off and make sure it does not continually run (that is when it gets expensive with the water bill)
Summer like today rather than fall. DrewB and I had a nice walk at a local park. Making chili for dinner.5 -

So... I'm having a day of gratitude today. Next week, I'll take my second home injection of Skyrizi. Five years ago now, in 2019, this whole journey began for me. It took them two years to decide it was ulcerative colitis, and a year and a number of tests, etc. afterward to decide it is also Crohn's disease. Since April, the medication has brought me 75 to 80 percent back to my normal life. So many things I took for granted before are back:
Happy organ recital:- When I wake up, I can get my legs off the side of the bed and draw the alphabet with my toes instead of running hell for leather for the bathroom. Every. Single. Day.
- More and more nights, I can sleep through the night without getting up to go. For years, it was every two hours or so. Now, I can sleep for 7 to 8 hours straight.
- The poopy smell in the house (and hopefully hovering around me) has subsided. I don't worry constantly over whether there's been leakage without me knowing.
- Laundry is back to something reasonable, I'm not having accidents five, six, seven times a day, and the majority of days I get through with none.
- The overall urgency has subsided enormously, and when I do have to go, I'm able to simply walk to the bathroom, rather than scuttle at speed.
- The every-waking-moment, bend-over in pain cramps in my gut have diminished to once or twice a week.
- The bloating has dropped to a few days a week instead of 24-7 - I just thought I was getting fatter and the scale didn't show it!
- Trips to the bathroom have dropped from 25+ per day to five to eight each day.
- Most days, my brain is less foggy--I still have my moments, but don't feel as if I'm groping mentally ALL the time.
- I'm once again able to concentrate and focus for more than five minutes without my body distracting me.
- I can drive into town about a half hour away and not have to visit a bathroom at McDonalds every time before I go where I'm going. I know where every bathroom is in every store I visit, though!
- My energy levels are BACK baby!
But I'm not spending more time in the bathroom than out, and I'm so enjoying that! My life is full again, and not a constant recital of my woes to people that I love. I feel like I can discuss something besides my butt! 😹 Seriously, I could not be more grateful. It's not the first time that modern medicine has kept me alive, and I appreciate every single one of those times.
I have been reading everyone's post, and I'll get back in the swim of things, but right now, there's chores to do and things to MAKE!
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR

Thanks, Pip. I got the link and was able to donate. Also, they had a link to show a beginner how to train for that day. The app can predict whether one is ready to ride.
Margaret- I hope you ordered the correct part and can fix it yourself.

Terri – happy birthday to your husband
barbara – fingers crossed that everything goes well with the telemed
Heather – you did a great job on that cabinet. Looks professional
Lisa – so glad things are looking up for you. You’ll get to 100%, I know it
Carol – thinking good thoughts for your hearing aids
pip doing the MS ride makes me think of Katla. Wonder how she’s doing?
Allie – so glad sMiles passed at the dentist. Would you believe PJ is only 5 and he has 4 cavities? They just put a crown on them since they’re just his baby teeth. When we were there last, it did look like they were trying to cut back on the amount of gummies he has, but I’m not sure. Feel better fast
Mo – I hope you’re feeling better

I have thought off an on over the years of changing some major things and in the end decided to stick it out, I am happy I stuck it out in my marriage, but am sorry I didn’t make changes regarding jobs sooner. On the other hand, making one small change could have changed where I am now. So I don’t know, I just have to work myself through things I guess. I only have a couple of regrets in life.
Heather - great job on the cabinet. It’s my job around here to build those types of cabinets. Rodger will build from scratch though. 😂
Lisa - you’ve come such a long way. I’m so happy the Skyrizi is working for you.
Lanette - Roger and Mrs Roger (my phone does not like me spelling Rodger that way) reminds me of my grandparents, it was a rare day that they were home all day and the days they were I learned reading my Grandmother’s diaries were very unhappy days for her. They too, went at least 25 miles away.
I’m happy you have a friend for a monthly lunch, it’s good to get out.
Kylia - beautiful views. I love solo drives too.
Rebecca - I am so glad your youngest is staying in contact. I remember how devastating it was when he wasn’t.
Beth - I used to make apple muffins for my girls when they were young. They were so easy, you put everything in a blender to make. I’ve thought of them several times over the years and searched all of my cookbooks and I can’t find the recipe again. I think it must have been in a cookbook I got rid of when we moved here.
Monique - toilets are fairly easy to fix. I’ve done almost everything to them that has needed done in one house or another.
Margaret - YouTube is such a wonderful tool. I tried it today to learn about a thermal label printer at work. It failed me, I cannot figure it out. I am hoping someone else can help me tomorrow.
I am watching America’s Got Talent. I haven’t watched every episode or act this year but this is the Semi-Finals. I just love these acts that people do with their dogs. This dog is talented!

I should head to bed soon. I’m so tired. I think it’s the dreary weather this week.
Tomorrow is Jonah’s and my birthday, I won’t get our annual picture until Saturday though. 😕

Luckily, I love mine at the moment, but it wasn't always that way ........
We often develop tunnel vision about our lives, and can't see that they could be totally different. We just tinker with the edges. But sometimes we have to leave the old and familiar in order to embrace a new vision of how our lives could be. Unfortunately, it is often some crisis that prompts us into changing our lives, but we can do it whenever we feel called. Is it comfortable? No. It involves hard choices, but staying in the same old familiar miserable groove is also hard. Choose your hard. We have one life. One 'wild and precious life'.

I agree ... to some extent. Sometimes something happens and there really is only one viable option ... the least of all the evils.
When my husband had the accident, I didn't want to spend hours by his bed in the hospital day after day for 100 days. I did not want to become a carer. I could have walked away ... that was an option. But it wasn't a viable option for me.
So I tinkered with the edges. I continue to work at my job and I continued to work on my master's degree. I tried to continue to do the things I wanted to do. And I became a carer.
But in other circumstances in my life, I have made some big changes because I felt I wasn't going where I wanted to go, and it was time to shake things up.

Today’s gratitude: Joe’s sense of humor. He was nearby during my phone consult about breast MRI so heard some of what the Dr. said. I explained to him that they saw something in my right breast, they don’t think it’s cancer but want to do more tests to make sure. He was silent and I wasn’t sure he heard. A little while later he said “Do you want me to check for lumps? I offer free breast examinations.” Made me laugh, a welcome lightening of my mood. Had a strange nightmare, woke Joe up hollering “Help! Help! Help” so he saved me by waking me up. Whew!
Clutterbug challenge
Day 9/30 not much left in the dresser drawers so tackled the lower bar in the closet.1 pair of jeans, still good but uncomfortably stiff and heavy to the donation pile. 7 torn, stained, painted, burnt, bleached, frayed items to trash and yes that pink raincoat is the one I’m wearing in my profile pic from 12 or more years ago. It leaks.Machka “1,000 new kinds of data formats, won’t that be great?” ROTFLMAOWMP!
Heather “choose your hard.” Like activity vs bedpans. Wise words. Brava on the cabinet!
Lisa so thankful for your “happy organ recital.”
Lanette it’s probably 5 miles to line dancing, 8 to BB&B but because the first mile is on dirt, and the second is on windy county road it takes 15 and 20 minutes respectively. Church is 40 minutes north. I try to keep the town trips down to 3 a week, not just because of ga$ but as Joe hints he and the dogs like it when I don’t leave… What you said about walking outside helping outlook is so very very true.
Kylia gorgeous sky. I find long, solo drives meditative, but feel increasingly bound to stay close to home. No trips more than one night away from home planned any time soon.
Mo ((hugs held extra long)) So sorry to hear of your daughter’s behavior. Wise of you to let God work on her now. Hope your DH follows your lead. ((hugs))
Okie, brilliant recommendation, made me smile.
Rebecca belated happy anniversary. Glad your youngest responded so quickly, what a welcome change.
Michele thanks! Wet as well as could be expected, despite poor initial connection, then I accidentally pressed the “decline” button when they called back.
Tracey thank you so much for the AGT video with Roni Sagi and Rhythm. As amazing as Rhythm was, what Roni said at the end about showing how you can speak two different languages and still connect, hoping that people would take this message not just for this kind of show but for living generally. Inspiring! Happy birthday!
Zumba tomorrow, then Freddie’s.

Barbara - Great job! I especially love the leaky pink raincoat. Why do we hang on to these useless things.
I managed my bath, and struggled in and out OK. I had a wall bolted grab rail, that I had put in earlier this year, another sucker based one, that is only for steadying, which I didn't use, and the non slip shower mat underneath me. It wasn't easy, but I didn't have to call for John. Unfortunately, my knee didn't like my contortions, so it is now complaining. It was already having a bad day before hand, but I ignored it.
I'm encouraged to do it again in a few days.
Did my writing this morning. Two days in a row! I've decided to chop and change the historical order, so I am now writing about my grandfather. I hope that keeps the readers attention, rather than writing a history book. My grandfather, my mother's father, hovered between life and death, just before the battle of the Somme. He was put in the line of dead bodies at one point!
Having Tricolore for lunch. Haven't decided on dinner. Might be black pudding and cauliflower purée.

Good early morning, young ladies,
I have been up since 1:30 a.m. due to pre-headache signs. So I got up, put a laundry load in, made tea, and let Rose out twice. The last remnants of Tropical Storm Francine were not doing well for my head. I forgot to put my mask in the freezer and to take my meds. So I just took them and put a second load in, and my first load is drying. I am having Chai Tea. I didn't think about making my migraine tea. I keep this tea in my locker at work and my tea nook at home( I love tea more than coffee.). My head is now starting to get better. I will darken my room, lie down, and listen to a book. I love talking to you all.
Allie, I hope you feel better soon. Is the baby born? You mentioned a funeral. Who died? I am so glad Miles passed his dental checkup. I see so many 2-—and 3-year-olds with crowned teeth due to poor diets of candy and juice bottles to go to bed, and the teeth are swimming in sugar. "Miles, on the other hand, has great teeth, so he can smile and show them off. Anyway, I am so glad you are harmful to COVID-19. Did you test for flu? Take care of yourself, Allie; I want you to have fun on your cruise. Did
Do you shop for swimsuits and cover-ups? I purchased some from Amazon. I love Tankinis, so I can quickly totty and not fumble with a one-piece. Get sunscreen; it is so expensive to get during travel. In Hawaii, it costs $25.00.
Michelle, What part of North Carolina do you live in? My best friend Linette and I want to go to Wilmington one day. I've been to Charleston, NC, and it was a fun trip. We went with our church. We had our kids do a service project there where we cleaned the park and put down mulch. I thought that was a positive thing to teach our kids. My husband even had them volunteer at the soup kitchen two. My son was two, so he was too young to remember. Thanks for the well wishes. I hope you are doing well and that you are happy.
I relax interacting with you all. I hope you all are doing well. It seems like we all are going through growing pains.;) I am so glad to hear that you all are moving your bodies. I know I have had a problem with sciatica since age 30. The one thing that works for me is exercise. It works better than meds. So, let's keep moving. I am saying that more to myself. I am now weighing less than I have in a long time. I am 76 pounds down from my heaviest weight. I didn't see it until I saw myself in my son's graduation picture. I didn't know how heavy I was. I was thinking about buying a bike and rollerblades for myself tonight. That will be my Christmas wish. Thanks, Pip, for passing the bike bug to me.:) I will see if my orthotic will fit in the rollerblade. I will wait until I move to Chicago. In Mississippi, we do not have sidewalks. Well, I better go to bed now that my headache is dissipating. I have to go to work tomorrow night. You all have a wonderful and safe weekend.
XO,

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Margaret good work on fixing your toilet! I have one that has leaked for years and I can never quite face fixing it.
Lisa Yay for better health!
Tracey happy birthday! You have come so far in the last year. Congratulations on getting away from the bad job and finding the new one!
Machka Yay for the Strava challenge! Even during the move! I'm impressed.
Mo glad your headache is better. I spent a weekend at Wilmington NC and the beach was gorgeous! That was maybe ten years ago.
One of the hardest things for me to declutter is stuff that could poison a landfill. We have way too many old batteries, bug spray, and nail polish. If I could remember when and where, there are special trash collection days, but I never seem to get it together.
Meanwhile I still have all my Mom's clothes and she died last December. I dream of getting her clothes all into her closet so I could put mine in the spare room and not have tubs of clothes in my room. She has a gorgeous cable knit alpaca sweater that would make me sweat until it got ruined. But it's too lovely to give away. I sound like I need to listen to the podcasts or something, right? Actually I want to finish getting the finances fixed up first.
So today the cleaning ladies come, and I have to take Dad to the bank. And I just bought a new sharp pruning shears! Yay! Not bad for errands, but I wish I hadn't scheduled cleaning during my few hours of freedom from Dad. I should have stood up for myself. Too late now.
I'm working on a short story about a writing group. They all overdo the criticism of one lady, while it turns out she is writing a memoir about how she got even with a teacher for overdone criticism. I'm still planning it out.
Anyway, have a fabulous day! May you be happy, healthy, safe, and free!

Lisa ... you have been through a lot with your health. So glad it is finally manageable! And that stained glass purse is beautiful!
Rebecca ... not sure if it something that would work for you, but my cochlear implant audiologist has mentioned that there's physical therapy for vertigo and equilibrium problems. Exercises. I've not looked into it yet, but will if I continue to have problems. Just a thought.
Monique ... I'm so sorry you experienced lost pregnancies. You noticed that everyone looked so serious in my wedding photo! LOL! We were losing our minds with a photographer that had no idea what he was doing. Almost made me think he used to work in one of those photo booths at fairgrounds where you dress in vintage clothes and don't smile!!
With the apples, I am continually looking for new recipes. This apple bread was a new effort and is pretty tasty! It is not low calorie by any means.

Its interesting how mine just comes and go. I seem to switch ears so its not just one side. I have started taking Zyrtec hoping that an antihistamine might help.

I should head to bed soon. I’m so tired. I think it’s the dreary weather this week.
Tomorrow is Jonah’s and my birthday, I won’t get our annual picture until Saturday though. 😕

Yep, I am so grateful that he's kind of grown up and realized that having family ties can be helpful. I thank him all the time for communicating!💖😁

Hey kids,
Up since about 1 a.m., in design mode, having fun, but not enough sleep, so headed back to bed... More later.
Love y'all!

Tracey - Happy Birthday!! Thank you for the dog video! I watched an earlier performance of him a week or so ago. Just amazing.
Barbara - nice declutter pile! You've inspired me to give my closet another go. Sorry about the unsettling MRI news, hope the docs have tests in mind that aren't painful. My DH would have made a similar "helpful" comment similar to what Joe came up with. And, my DH would say the very same thing when I'd be away from home, he'd worry. The farm was 20 miles from town on windy road with switchbacks and deadly drop offs. I'd have to attend meetings at night and drive it in the dark. My little Subaru Forester did a great job. I never had a problem then, but I'd hate to do a night drive on it now.
Heather - glad you got your bath! I haven't used the tub in years even with a grab bar. Too hard for me to get in and out of even when I was in good shape, lol. Plus I'd end up taking a shower afterward anyhow to get the soap scum off so decided to skip the bath step. I do soak my feet quite a lot though, sometimes sitting on the edge of the tub.
Margaret - good luck with the toilet fix! When we had a new one installed a few years ago, after a couple days it ran all the time. I lifted the lid, thinking all I had to do was "jiggle the chain" like in the old days. Well, there was some complicated valve and tube thing there now. I called the plumber and he came right back and fixed it for free. I don't know why they did away with the "float and flapper" but I'm still aggravated about it, lol.
Mo - you have done a great job with the weight loss. Sorry to hear about the migraines, sounds like you have things that work for you to get rid of them or at least tone them down. Sorry too about your daughter. I have an adopted nephew that took a bad turn starting in high school, I believe he got into drugs plus has mental illness, assaulted his mom and stole from her, etc. His parents repeatedly tried to get him help and it didn't work. He has been banished. Hope YouTube has helpful videos for your toilet problem.
Rebecca - crossing fingers the Zyrtec helps!
Annie - good for you working on your writing, the story sounds very interesting! New pruners sound exciting, seriously.
I did more research on the invasive autumn hawkbit dandelion imposter that has taken over my yard and everyone else's in my neighborhood. Sounds like it keeps growing and blooming for months, just like grass would. So I'm going to have to break down and mow it again - I was hoping it would go to seed and be done with it, but not for a while yet. I don't know why it's worse this year. My lawn needs to be thatched and limed and that's not gonna happen.

Had a long chat with G this morning. Sometimes she drives me nuts, but I try to keep a reasonable tone of voice. She means we'll, but her ADHD means that she loves to make life difficult for herself.
I've rubbed Ibuleve gel on my knee, which seems to have helped a bit. Just annoyed with it! Grrrr!
John has been washing the bird feeders and washing the car, as it's a lovely day here. Last night was really cold though; some places had frost. 😱 Not here, but the garage was very chilly this morning.
I'm going to take the elevated toilet seat off John's toilet today and wash it in the bath upstairs. It was great after my ops, but I don't need it now. He is going to buy a new seat soon, as soon as he can research which one fits. It is well overdue!! The raised one hid it for a while.
My new burgundy/wine red handbag arrived today. I think it will be fine. The right size and lots of compartments. I'm not 100% sure about the colour, but it is fashionable. It has straps for arm and shoulder, and a cross body strap. All options. I do like compartments, so I know where everything is.

LanetteThe part that needs fixing is part of the lower water toilet. Older toilets uses 3.5 gallons this one 1.6. So in long run if I don't have to pay for major repairs or have a continually running toilet it is cheaper and better for the environment. Agree old flapper system easier. Anne that is probably what your toilet needs is a new flapper.
Yesterday was a day to stop the cyper threats for me. I clicked on a bad site on Facebook threatening a virus. I did the right thing shut down computer and then cleared browser when turned back on. I also checked with the security system I have on this computer. In future I will shut off my Modum when not in use. I do this at night now. I also do not connect to the web until after I log in with my password to my e-mail. I did change that to a over 12 character log in (thank you Rita for the advice) when I learned I was part of the massive breach that happened around mid August here. I will now no longer click or like most public web sites on Facebook now as a result.
I also got a notice from my charge card saying someone charge $5000 for drywall. You would think if they were going to do something like that they would go for a cruise. Seriously it was caught when the charges were pending so it should come off my account quickly. The card I use is on top of things. They will sometimes make me go through hoops if I charge from a site I do not typically use like when I bought my son a kite online. I am more than willing to handle that inconvenience if it stops a $5000 charge.
So my brain got a workout yesterday. Hence a long walk in a park with DrewB helped bring me back to a good place.
Here is a moment to Zen with a beautiful floral fall bouquet from the 2024 State Fair.

Bloodwork review yesterday went pretty well! A1C down to 5.4 from 5.8, Average glucose went from 120 down to 108, eGFR (kidneys) went from 47 to 60 putting me in the normal range there too. B12 was 567 middle of normal range, Vitamin D went up to 56 from 43 also middle of normal range. Total cholesterol is 127 down from 167 but my HDL is low at 50, down from 67 so NP said add MCT oil to fix that. Triglyceride is 76 down from 88. Overall, really good! So what I’m doing is working!! YAY, I can keep this way of eating up for life!
On the other hand, DH’s liver numbers are not good, and he is anemic. They are doing more bloodwork on him to make sure of the numbers and sending him for a liver ultrasound. IMO he drinks alcohol too much which is affecting his health now.
Dinner yesterday was Taco Bell. Not healthy at all and I felt GERD and lousy from it the rest of the day. I only had a soft taco, a Gordita, and a handful of chips and queso. I really can tell when I don’t eat well any more. 🤢
