With a water heater-heat pump, which is efficient, and the solar panels I have, it'll be free hot water. Hard to beat. As this house has panels I'm trying to use all of the free electricity I can.7 -

It was not raining this morning, but it was cold and kind of misty. I ran 6.2 miles. I saw one skunk, but otherwise it was a pretty uneventful run.
Beautiful pictures @Teresa502.

@Teresa502 Your hiked sounded very adventurous. I liked the pictures and can understand why you wouldn’t want to do that route again!
@martaindale 8 states in one year! That’s quite a feat! It must have been fun registering for so many races!
@AlphaHowls Nice bike! Way to get creative!
I went on a very easy run this morning. Surprisingly, it snowed last night, so the run was a bit slippery in parts, but not icy. I ran 9.2km.
111.3/301km for February.7 -
Morning!
Got in 5.0M at 10'12.
@Teresa502 😯 so so jealous!!!! 😋
Not due back in the States till Oct... Maybe in August too? So have ages to wait for hit of Cinnamon Cheesecake!
Anyways... Enjoy your S.Florida trip! Disfruta!7 -
That's a lot of races @martaindale ! I had thought about trying to do the 50 states, but at my age I decided I wouldn't have time. I guess I would if I did 5 a year!
You'll have to let us know if it helps @AlphaHowls .
@chris_in_cal I didn't know you had solar panels. That's great. And, I know people who grew up with natural gas love it, but those of us who didn't....I guess it's like everything else. If you aren't familiar with you, it scares you.
Great running @kgirlhart .

Got up early enough to get my run in before heading out for the day. Since I haven't run for a few days, I decided to take it easy. I walked 0.25 miles for warm up and 0.35 miles for cool down. The middle was a run/walk of 2/2/1 min for 4.5/4.6/4.0, 4.7/4.8/4.0, 4.9/5.0/4.0, then 3 x (5.0/4.0 for 4/1 min) and ended with the last 0.15 miles at 6.0 mph. That averaged out to a 12:36 min/mile pace. Avg HR was 127 with a max of 161 bpm. It wasn't too bad, but was glad I was short on time so I had a good excuse to quit when I did. LOL6 -

Got out for 4 miles with my security guard friend this morning. Just a tad warmer than yesterday at 72F so when it started pouring rain on us during the last mile, it didn’t feel bad at all. Glad I’m not home where it is 35F and raining/snowing!
So exciting to be traveling for all those races this year @martaindale! Can't wait to hear about each of them!

Sunday morning I got up early and ran 5k along the seafront in Galway. There with lots of other runners too and dog walkers. My sister says it's 'the place to be seen' on a weekend morning. My foot has been grumbling since so will have to stick to shorter runs for a while yet. I met my sister after & went to the Yoga event . Really enjoyed it. Because I do yoga on my own I was a bit nervous about not being up to standard but it went great . Today and yesterday’s runs were really cold. There is snow being forecast again but I don’t think we will get much
7 -
So envious of all your events @martaindale - not just the excitement and traveling but being fit enough to bash them all out. Awesome. I’m aiming to get back there!
I hope your foot comes right quickly @Mari33a
Your hike sounds mad @Teresa502. The things we get ourselves into!
Pilates was surprisingly good yesterday- I’m not sure if it was because my body held up better than expected in the half (it’s really only my calves that have DOMS ) or whether the class was a gentle one. Either way, it was perfect.
I did 7k this morning and oh the humidity. Thank goodness it was only 9am, it’s going to be a stinker today.7 -

Having a bit of a nice break in the 'non-stop media', as the old temporary cellular I'm using to replace my broken one, doesn't actually do much anymoreand the new phone hasn't arrived yet.

I ran 1.1M 14'53
No pain. Good.
March 2024 was the last significant rain here. This week we're finally going to get a storm coming through.8 -

Really didn't feel like doing anything today but managed to force myself into a 30 min stroll on the treadmill.7 -
About 5-6 inches of snow today. On and off freezing rain/snow mix this evening and more expected through the night.
Our back yard deck and creek.9 -
Looks beautiful @daria0919.
Good effort @brnlow - anything is better than nothing
And welcome to the pain-free club @chris_in_cal, let’s stay here a long while!5 -

Hi everyone,
I ran 14.5km this morning. It started snowing after a few km, but the snow felt more like hail. Luckily it wasn’t too windy and stopped after a while. Other than that, it was a nice but uneventful run.
125.8km/301km.7 -
That sounds like a fun run @Teresa502 . We only got rain, but I hear the snow up your way is pretty heavy. Enjoy FL while you can.
Nice run with the "in crowd" yesterday @Mari33a . Good job on the yoga too. I hope that foot gets better soon!
I'm glad the Pilates didn't make your DOMS worse @ContraryMaryMary ! Nice sweaty run.
Nice run @John772016 . Sorry about the phone, or maybe not. A break from media isn't all bad.
@chris_in_cal Glad you had no pain on your run. Also hope you get some rain, but not enough to cause mud slides. I didn't realize it had been that long since you had rain there.
@brnlow That first step is the hardest some days. You did great.
Pretty @daria0919 . I hope you can stay in and be warm and safe.
@tarun_yadavA I see you went a bit farther today.
@Laurz9191 That doesn't sound like the most fun weather to run in. I like running in fluffy falling snow, but not the hard stuff.
6 -
Nice running everyone. I'm still on the sidelines enviously watching y'all...8

Another 5 miles this morning. The temp was only 66 but the humidity seemed higher today.

@quilteryoyo today is a cross training day, so I shoveled heavy snow for my workout. 😆Need to be able to drive to work tomorrow morning, so had to dig my way out.6
-
Those are great temperatures for FL @Teresa502 . You do so great with your running when you aren't home. Trips usually "trip" me up.
Shoveling is a hard workout @daria0919 . As I recall, your driveway is up a hill. I know how that is. I can drive on level ground and snow, but not on hills.2 -

I had a Personal Trainer appointment at the gym this morning. I got there early enough to walk 1.00 miles before we got started. Today's workout was bench press (max at 55# x 5 reps, so a little better than last time), other arm work and the row machine.
I had lots of time between the gym and my annual dermatology appointment, so wound up doing 3.1 miles on the treadmill. I walked 0.25 miles, then ran 2.5, then walked 0.35, or something really close to that. I'm not used to the treadmill and hit the cool down button accidently, so had to do some quick math to try to figure out what I had done and needed to do. The distances (and paces per my calculations) may not be exact, but they are close. Avg running pace was 13:16 min/mile. Avg HR was 133 with a max of 153 bpm.
The dermatologist didn't find anything concerning, so will just go back and check again in a year.8 -

So...I got some test results back because I've been coughing my lungs up.
Appears I have COPD. This is interesting. I've never smoked in my life, so must be from everything else, maybe abestos, definitely 2nd hand smoke, probably gunpowder smoke, lord know what other toxic chems I've been breathing in, maybe throw in a dash of long covid. Need to go do more testing to see how severe it is.
This might explain why I get sleepy when I start to run, besides now being as slow as a slug, especially over the last couple of years, my speed just fell off a cliff.
Anyone else dealt with something similar before?9 -
Keeping up with the running. I'm just trying to get in 3 runs a week.
Feb 3rd ~ 1.2 miles
Feb 5th ~ 1.2 miles
Feb 7th ~ 1.2 miles
Feb 10th ~ 1.8 miles
Feb 12th ~ 1.3 miles
My goal is to get up to a 2.5 mile run by the end of the month. No total running mile goal yet.
So cold today at 24°. Good thing I bought a neck gaiter a while back. I wrapped it over my head and covered my ears and most of my face.
@Mari33a - I miss running by the sea! And now I'm landlocked 😞 lol

My sympathies on your struggles @WarmJellyfish , I've been dealing with issues since my last bought of COVID (why I now run on treadmill for the winter, as I just cannot catch my breath outside in the cold). Hopefully the further testing will show it is not too severe!4 -

@WarmJellyfish while I don't have COPD, I do struggle with exercise induced asthma - really exacerbated by cold weather and dry air. Can't catch my breath, coughing my lungs up etc. I've had it since I was a child but only recently (last 10 yrs or so) got a diagnosis.5 -
Sorry about your diagnosis @WarmJellyfish . At least you know now. I hope they can do something to help you out. Do inhalers help with that?
You're doing great @Jhardyman1 .
You're killing the C25K @brnlow .1 -

I'm posting two runs today. Work has been horrible lately and I haven't had time to post or read, but I will get caught up this evening. I had two good runs. I ran 6 miles yesterday and again today. It was cold yesterday and colder today, but felt pretty good once I got going. I saw a skunk yesterday, but not today. I did see a great blue heron flying to the creek today and that was pretty neat. Tomorrow is supposed to be 23°F feels like 14°F. I am not really looking forward to that.
