Welcome, Kate. Sounds like you have lots of positives going for you.

I weighed in at 205.4 this morning, after 8 weeks. Down 15 lbs. I have 5 weeks before I'm back to work and how I'd love to be under 200 by then. It's always harder once school starts. I'm so, so tired the first month or two, and it's so hot after the school day, so I don't feel like exercising. I'm thinking through options already. Plus, I have always struggled with lunches. I need a small microwave in my room to heat frozen veggies. One bag really fills me up. I can take yogurt and an Uncrustable—I love my PB&J, and I have the mini fridge already. That should work if I stick to it and vary the yogurts and veggies. Plus the occasional lunchtime splurge on an early release day; those are few and far between.

I was aiming for 3.3 miles today and went 3.5. No wonder I was so tired :)

    TTFN.

Hi everyone... I hope I'm doing this right with an introduction 😂.

My name is Sarah, I'm 35 and I'm starting over AGAIN. I've been on MFP since I can remember, I think I started back in 2012 or 2013.

My last success here was in 2019 I was doing great, but as it happens sometimes life happened and I got off track.

I want this time to be different, I want this to be the time I fully stick with it and get to the place I want to be and then can be here to maintain.

I'm currently sitting at 251 pounds and I'm 5'1" so I have a lot to lose, I just don't want to keep living this way. I enjoy a very active lifestyle and right now that's so difficult. So, here I am again! Let's start.

Good morning, all, and welcome, SarahL.

I had a pretty easy 2.3 miles this morning, and had to take a break at 2.5, haha. It's a lot easier to walk on pavement than in the grass. I finished with 3.4 and felt pretty good. I thought it felt "cool," although it was 75 with 100% humidity. It's only 10:35, but I've had breakfast and "lunch." That's what happens when you get up at 4:30.

My scale snuck down below 204 this morning, so that was a quick peek at things to come. I know I was just dehydrated, but it's nice to see numbers I haven't seen in 2 years. Keeps me motivated.

I had potato, black beans, cheddar, and just a touch of sweet bbq sauce for dinner last night. So good.

Today I get a new CPAP. I've needed one for 2 years and it's been a fight. I am quite sure I haven't really been getting great sleep most of this time, although I know it hasn't been totally horrible. The old one kind of worked. Can't wait to see if I feel a lot more rested.

    TTFN.

    Hi All

For those who asked, I am in Perth Western Australia. We are currently in our winter, at this time our temp ranges between 7 degrees Celsius minimum and 19 degrees Maximum, and even though many of you think this is mild, I have felt the cold this year 😂 Don't ask me to convert, I am so used to Celsius and Kilograms etc I cant really convert. Strangely I still use Calories and not Kilojoules

Maureen you wont know yourself once you get the sleep machine, it certainly improves your sleep and you might not be so tired. While I am not officially using intermittent dieting, i do try to have my first food of the day around 11 am and then it is something light, and I have a bigger meal at night. This time around my policy is that I can eat anything I like as long as I stay within the max calories for the day

Cheers to all, hope you have a great day.

    Hello All~

Kate - I figured out that you are 12 hours ahead of me and Maureen and Missy on the East Coast and 15 hours ahead of Sara in California. I like to be properly oriented. 😁 I envy you your winter temps!

Maureen - how did you do with your new CPAP? Better than the old one I hope?

Sarah L - where do you live?

Hi, all. Kate, that's 44F-66F. Mild for me—I spent 35 years in Wisconsin, so sub 0F wasn't unusual, with temps down to -25F, -30F each winter for a week or two and wind chills hitting -45F sometimes (-42C).

I'm in North Carolina now, where our winters are only somewhat cooler than yours. I wear sandals year round. My students think I'm crazy. I might put on socks for a week or two, especially if it rains at the coolest times.

Today my son and I went to visit a little museum in a small town, but it closes at 12:30 pm, so we were a bit too late. We will try again. We stopped to eat instead. Had a nice drive on a sunny day.

I got in 3.5 miles this morning. That felt pretty good. And I earned 193 extra calories for exercise. I'm really full from lunch and don't know if I'll eat anymore. I had to guess at my serving sizes for lunch but I ate half the portions or less, and I doubt I can finish anything today. I will have a few calories for veggies if I do get hungry later, but it's already 2:47 pm and I can't imagine being hungry again. I go to bed pretty early when I'm getting up so early.

I hope everyone is having a good day and a good week!

Shoot, I forgot to say, the new CPAP worked fine. I have had one for 11 years, but the past 4 years, I haven't gotten new supplies, although I stretched 6 months of supplies out over 2 of those years. I've been trying to get the new machine for 2 years. Very frustrating. I may just buy this one—cheaper than renting, I think. My last insurance covered a new machine every 5 years and new supplies always (delivered every 6 months). This one is on a rental basis that renews every 10 months, which is ridiculous. I've met my out of pocket already for this year b/c of the knee surgery, so I don't have to pay anything. Next year, when I have to start paying, in Jan, it may be cheaper to buy. I doubt I'll have any benefits toward supplies. The joys of American health insurance.

Good morning, all. Cool this a.m.—68 at 7:30. Wow. That's unusual in July. 3.3 miles today on my walk. I'm discovering new little routes in the neighborhood, driven 100% by where I see shade and/or hills (to avoid, haha). We have a lovely breeze today, too. Really nice. My girlie got a good swim in b/c I went along the edge of the pond for a bit.

I'm having a 2nd round of coffee. Mmmm. What a treat. I guess it counts as "breakfast." I'll finish my leftovers from the BBQ place we went to yesterday.

Got 3.5 in just now. I sit and finish sweating and hop on here, drinking my first liter of water for the day. Skye gets to swim in the pond at the 2 mile point and that holds her again until we get home.

I need more summer clothes. I keep washing the same 3 outfits, wearing 2 a day. And so many showers. It has started to cool down a tiny bit some, but we will get another peak or two before summer is over. Usually right at the start of the school year, when everyone is already exhausted from the full day pace of students back in class and the burnout of PD week.

I had the last of the BBQ yesterday and will be back to my usual favorites today. I'm looking forward to a big fruit protein shake soon and lots of veggies later.

Someone needs to ask a new question!

Ang, that's a good thought. I don't think anyone has asked those.

If I ate like I did yesterday, I'd gain 12 lbs in 5 weeks. Hahaha. Doesn't happen often, thank goodness!

Got my walk in late today; just finished. We went to a state park but got on the wrong trail and then got distracted; walked very little. My son got hungry so we gave up and went to eat. I walked when we got back home. It was a nice morning, though, and I ate "smart."

    Good Afternoon...

    Maureen, that's a cool idea! I'm "game". 😉

Sandy - 4 siblings - older sister (deceased), oldest brother, me, older brother, younger brother.

Sandy - one dog, one snail

New question - Did you graduate from college?

I did not....I took enough courses TO graduate but not to earn a degree in anything.

My son and his family has been here all week….they are leaving tomorrow. I am having dinner with them tonight. I will miss them....they won't be back until Christmas. Its not easy when you live alone and family is far away. 💔

They treated me to a shopping trip to Costco. I was able to get a lot of bulk food I normally wouldn't be able to afford. My son's partner gave me a couple crochet kits....a Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Nutcracker kits. I will have plenty of time to work on them after I finish the afghans I am working on.

I have been crocheting these little octopus for my RAOCK giveaway....simple to make and easy. They are all ready to go! And I am still making more.

    Till tomorrow...

Sandy, how lovely to see your son and his family. I'm sorry you have lost a sister. I can't imagine. My eldest sib, my brother, is 70 today. Mind boggling. How does it happen?

What is a RAOCK giveaway? The octopi are cute.

My walk is done and so are my floor exercises and stretches. I've been hit or miss about the exercises and stretches the past 2 weeks so I need to get in a routine. I thought back to how I did things in the days "before," when my knees were good and I had a solid routine down and didn't even think about everything. So I did that. Except a lot more thinking!

I'm looking for a few true quick dry, long tank tops, so my son and I will visit a couple of sporting goods stores. I doubt I'll find what I'm looking for and buying online is hit-or-miss for the fabric I want. I don't even know what it really is, I just know it when I feel it; it feels almost like a plastic but it's not.

Off to a good start with a healthy breakfast and healthy grocery order being delivered soon. I've stopped sweating and can shower for a second start to the day :)

    TTFN.

    Happy Sunday!

Maureen, big sis developed pancreatic cancer (probably from smoking) and it was stage 4....wasn't much that could be done. But it was the chemo that actually killed her....she could have lived longer without it. Her body couldn't handle it. It was 25 years ago, but I still miss her. She took care of me when I was a kid...took me places. Its not the same with my brothers.

RAOCK is "Random Acts of Crochet Kindness" We crochet little gifts and leave them out in public...stores, Dr's offices, etc....for people to find. We encourage the finder to post their gift in our group but they are in no way obligated to do so. Just happy to spread the love!

And kudos to you for your exercise! My exercise is mostly housework and climbing the stairs to my apartment. 😉

My water weight is gone, even after having a Jersey Mike's hoagie for dinner last night with the family. Back to normal eating now. Had scrambled eggs and sausage for breakfast. Will probably skip lunch and have an early dinner.

Waiting for the Phillies game to start....its pouring at the park. I guess we will get it next.

A HELLO! shout out to everyone!

Sandy, I love the RAOCK. Very sweet idea.

Pancreatic cancer tends to be found so late due to its lack of symptoms until late stages. I have friends who've lost family in 2, 3 weeks from Dx. Always tragic. Again, so sorry.

I showed a gain this a.m. Not overly concerned. Lots of extra salt and goodies last week.

Up to 3.7 today. Oh, my. I'm "done in," as Eliza Doolittle might say, although not the same context. Might need to back off a bit for a week or so!

New Question from Sandy: Did you finish college: yes, I did! I have my BA in English from UVA (started at UNC-Chapel Hill); and a MA and PHD in History from UW-Madison. I love learning and teaching. I'm a real nerd :)

    TTFN!

    Good Afternoon, All!

Maureen, boy do I feel dumb...LOL! Kidding. What an educational resume! I would be proud to be a nerd! Enjoy the rest of that vacay....you deserve it!

Lana…you were missed! Hope are doing better!

Baseball game tonight. I plan on getting a hoagie to take in rather than get a hot dog and fries at the park which costs more than the hoagie. Weather is beautiful for the next couple days. I might be able to get some swimming in this week....pool water is much cooler since my brother convinced my SIL to let him leave the cover off.

Howdy's to the rest of our crew!

Gonna go get a snack to take my pills. Till tomorrow.....and GO PHILS!!

Maureen - OMG, you studied at UNC Chapel Hill, which is where I am, literally! I live 4 blocks west of the campus, just south of the Co-Gen plant for the campus.

My little neighborhood is a mix of 8 students renting one house and professors and staff with their littles. We share this area with a great many tall trees that regularly threaten to fall over on our houses.

I went to NY State college at Fredonia NY for BA in Theater Arts. This was before they offered the highfalutin' BFA. It was a great place to flounder around and get my footing.

The real education came when I moved to NYC and scraped around for almost 10 years until I got to be one of a handful of women in the NYC stagehands union Local One IATSE. Nothing prepared me for that education. No ivied halls there. Nothing but unvarnished sexism! But there were a couple of progressive guys who hired me, and the rest is history. Cool thing is that now, many decades later, there are so many women in the local—I don't know any of them.

Lana, I will try to let you know when I visit Chapel Hill. I may be coming down sometime in the next year or so. I lived in Erinhaus; is it still there? I have very mixed feelings about returning. The best and worst period of my life.

I'm glad you got into a union and showed the men what you could do. How cool you were a ground breaker. I was in a way, too; had first baby during my doctoral exams and NO ONE had a plan! Hadn't happened before, so few women getting advanced degrees still, in the 80s!!!

I can tell I have been eating to much junk food. The scales are going back up and the dress I tried to wear yesterday was to tight again. I left my debit and credit cards at home. (I have cash in my wallet.) Most of the junk I buy is on my lunch break or on the way home from work. If I don't have my debit card with me, I can't buy anything. I need to get the weight I have put on back off again and then keep going down.

I would have run at lunch today, but I forgot something I needed. I am determined to get out for a run when I get home from work. I did get a short walk in.

Yesterday I did buy only good things. I was getting more local strawberries when I saw them. Local blueberries are out!!!!!!!!! I have a dish one local strawberries and local blueberries to eat with my lunch. 😋😋😋😋😋😋

    Good day, Everybody!

Last night was historic! (If you're a baseball fan, that is) I was in attendance at the Phillies/Red Sox game. It was the bottom of the tenth, tie score, bases loaded for the Phils. The rules say that if the catchers glove interferes with the batter's swing, the batter gets the base. All night, the Sox catcher Navárez was trying to frame outside pitches and stretching his arm into the batter's zone. He got away with it until he tried to frame a pitch way outside to Edmundo Sosa...whose bat hit his mitt. Sosa immediately informed the ump of the infraction, who called for a review. Sure enough, the play was ruled catcher's interference, Sosa was awarded first base and Brandon Marsh trotted home from third. Game over.…PHILS WIN!!

Now those who don't know the rule made up all kinds of excuses as to how it was a bogus call....it wasn't. Like Sosa shouldn't have had his foot on the line of the batter's box (that was a reach), it was a check swing so not a real swing (doesn't matter according to the rules), the ump sucked (they sometimes do, but not this time). The last time a game was walked off from a catcher's interference was in '71 and Johnny Bench was the catcher.

Basically, the Sox gave that game away. The Phillies had NO hits....the zombie runner (for extra inning games, Marsh, was on second), then the next 2 batters were walked....one unintentionally and one intentionally...which loaded the bases. The Sox thought they could play the odds, get a ground ball double play and hold Marsh at third. It was a nice thought, but that didn't happen.

We had an obnoxious Sox fan two seats down from our group (my brother's leftover season ticket he sold at a good price). I was SO happy with the outcome of the game just so he could be pissed off while the rest of us were freaking out with joy!

Found out my SIL insisted on having the cover put back on the pool. Water is too warm again. No swimming for me. Oh well...

I haven't eaten yet today...need to do that. TTFN..

    Good morning all~

Sandy - that game must have been something! Sorry to hear about the bath-water pool.

Ang - I find it helpful to have my 3 meals high in protein, fiber, and fat, with little starch. This has drastically cut my junk food cravings. Basically I eat meat/fish and vegetables. Also, I've been losing weight by just changing the food without counting the calories. Yay.

Maureen - it would be great to see you when you visit Chapel Hill. Would you be coming on your own? Do you know peeps who live here? Would you be coming for a reunion?

I looked up Ehringhaus, and yes, it is there. They don't seem to eliminate residence halls, but there is always some sort of construction happening, especially near the hospitals and medical schools - and sports buildings seem to get upgraded from time to time. I can see a lot of difference in the entire area just from my first year in 2008, so I think that you might be blown away to see how dense and populated Chapel Hill has become since you studied here.

Good morning all. I took it easy this morning, planning to start doing some of my walk in the afternoon/evening to start adapting to the heat I'll have to face once school starts and I'm back to work. It was cool and lovely and so nice to finish without being exhausted. I did my stretches and floor exercises right away. I've had my fruit and protein shake and am stopping in to "see" my friends here.

Lana, I don't know if I'll be on my own or not. Maybe for the first visit I should. What are you doing the next week or two? If I knew I could meet up with you, I might make the trip. I'm going to message you— do you know how to find messages on here? FYI, you are doing great with your weight loss. Keep it up.

Sandy, that game sounded crazy. I'm not a baseball fan, but I'm so glad you are enjoying it.

I've noticed that when I am consistent with my eating and exercise, my scale shows a regular drop of about 0.4 lbs. I've had this scale since 2002 and it has always been like that. AND I have to pee 2x a night every night, without fail, when I weigh above 200 lbs and am losing weight. Can't remember what happens between 199 and 179. We will see—soon, I hope :)
