    Good Evenin', All!

Ang, enjoy those fresh fruits....they are the best!

Lana, brother took the cover off again....water was nice today! SIL gets in and says it's cold...my brother just laughed. I didn't dare. And the game was one of the best!

Maureen, I have been a baseball fan since I was a little kid.....having 3 brothers and a father who was involved in Little League, it was inevitable.

Pool water was nice today....got in some water jogging. Food was good.…tried to be careful.

Hope all who haven't checked in are ok.

    Till tomorrow....

Lana, I'll come next week when the heat index is 110. No place will be crowded! HAHAHAHA. No, I won't! Mom and I visited on April 1, 1977. It was stunningly beautiful, which is why I picked it.

Got 2 miles in easy this morning, will finish my miles tonight. Did that yesterday and Jem, my younger dog, did well on his walk. He's leash reactive and still unneutered (I know, I know—it's just not a top priority when I'm supporting my daughter in her own home). But he is doing really well with all the training, so that's nice to see.

I had taco bell yesterday—well within my calories, but scale shot up over a lb due to water retention. All that salt. What I really like is the hot sauce. Which I could just buy separately. So I will.

I have my first meeting with a new book club tomorrow evening; looking forward to that.

    TTFN.

    Good morning all~

Maureen - you are hilarious! 😂 The book club sounds good. Let us know what you are reading. I'm not much of a reader, meaning I don't read at all, but I would like to get started again. So I'll take inspiration from your club.

Sandy - Oy! The tug of war with the pool cover….. Glad that you could get in and get your water workout.

Time to figure out what breakfast will be. I've been keeping my eating within the hours of 10AM and 6PM, and I think that it is helping with the weight loss.

Waves to Sara and Missy and Ang and everyone who stops by later on~

    Hi, Everyone!

No swimming today….brother is vacuuming the pool. I can go tomorrow, weather depending. Today I have to pick up an order from Kohls...that's my excitement for the day. Not feeling particularly ambitious. Maybe I will do some crocheting.

Till tomorrow, have a great day!

Sandy, the pool sounds great when it is cool. With the heat wave that's coming, I hope that cover stays off! Our LOWS will be in the 80s the next couple of nights. I feel so bad for people who don't have central AC.

My son and I went to a different nature preserve and walked this am; very shady and nice. I'll go back when it isn't 100. Today was fine b/c we went early.

I had a cinnamon roll for breakfast—same cals, less nutrition, haha. Usually I have a lot of protein for breakfast. That will be lunch today, I guess. And a slice of pizza and some veggies at book club for dinner. All planned and accounted for.

    TTFN.

Hello, Friends! Hope you had a good Friday!

@Bhriannatyvm , we are here! Welcome!

Maureen, I have central air, but don't use it in the summer....it's useless. These units weren't weren't built with it and when it was installed later, they put all the ductwork in the attic space...so if you are on the second floor, the air is immediately heated the moment it leaves the HVAC. So this time of year I use a window unit in my living room and bedroom....the other rooms I close off. As for the pool, I will probably wait until next week when the heat wave breaks.

The weekly challenge I am involved in? I hit my goal! A new week has started....hoping for another goal met.

I bought a new pair of shorts and they arrived this morning. I held them up and I thought they are not going to fit....probably won't even be able to pull them up. I was wrong....they went on easily! They are a bit snug, but a few more pounds and they will be perfect. And the only part that stretches is the back elastic waistband....the rest is regular denim.

I had an egg sandwich for lunch and finished off the cherries. Dinner will be leftover turkey chili and maybe an English muffin.

May we all have a good weekend!

    Happy Saturday Y'all~

We've got more sunshine today, and that makes me very happy.

Yesterday I got in some serious water exercise. Meals have been chicken, lean ground beef "stroganoff" (no noodles), or ham with steamed broccoli or steamed carrots. Kimchi is now my go-to snack. I also drink lots of low-fat milk. Have been having no desire for sweets, thank goodness.

Wishing everyone a good day today~

    Good Evening. Crew!

Maureen...ouch! Hope you feel better soon. Ever since I had my kidney stone removed, I haven't had a UTI. They are the pits, as I am sure you are aware.

Lana, you are having a awesome losing month! Great job, lady!

I only went out to get my CGM'S from CVS. The rest of the afternoon was spent watching the Phillies crush the Yankees again. I got a new beach towel. Might go swimming tomorrow. Food was ok today....fish and veggies for dinner.

Shout outs to anyone who comes by today!

    Good evening,

I am amazed how fast time goes by. It is something of a blur.

Hope those dealing with heat are okay.

Got 5k steps on a Saturday - pretty unusual - 2 grocery stores and 2 trips to the mail box did the trick. Got frozen Korean Panko batter sweet potato slices, just like the ones they make for tempura- better choices are being made. Not a saint but using the side of the brain that wants to wear a smaller size.

I have shredded chicken and pieces of roast beef in freezer to make my own meals. A chocoholic is saying this - it doesnt taste good anymore. I am sure that is a good thing.

Still dont like drinking water, but working on it.

Answer to questions - youngest of 3 girls and too educated for my own good or my job. I had to make the family degree minimum.

Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.

Maureen - how are you feeling today?

Sara - I'm with you on wanting to wear a smaller size. Good for you on the steps √. The panko sweet potato slices sound good 🥰

Lana, thanks for asking; much, much better. I took Azo as soon as I got it, and it kicked in within 30-40 minutes. So helpful. I have been lucky to have very few UTIs, and can't complain—this was by far the worst, and from what I know, wasn't even that bad. I'm glad the cabana boys are here. I need those foot massages!

Sandy, thanks. And are you a natural redhead too? I saw the pic. Students think I'm a blonde or maybe had brown hair—I don't even know what it is anymore. Faded something and lots of blondish and gray streaks. IdC either! I had a few decades of really awesome red hair with tons of natural blond highlights; people stopped me on the street to ask me where I had them "done." Couldn't help with that one.

Sara, I cannot imagine losing my love for chocolate. I've never been choco-free long enough, I suppose. I bet the longest I've gone is maybe 2 weeks? If longer, it wasn't intentional. I build in calories for that little bit every so often. I really enjoy the flavor of a lot of vegetables and other unprocessed foods but still want chocolate and potato chips.

Stay out of the heat, friends.

    TTFN.

    Good Sunday Morning!

Lana, I am hoping the Phils sweep the Yankees....that will be good payback for the drubbing in the playoffs. Having Judge is not a guarantee of a winning team.

Maureen, I wish.....LOL! My original color was dark brown....then mousey brown, which is why I started coloring it. I go back and forth between a dark blonde and a reddish blonde depending on my mood and/or the season. Right now, the dye is faded and I am waiting until I get my hair cut before I color it again. I wish I had been blonde, then I would have gone white with age and I wouldn't want to dye it.

I WAS going to go swimming....but I didn't realize it was going to be stormy today. Oh well....another day.

I found out what kind of bladder stones my dog had. And I also found out the sweet potato treats I have been giving him are the likely cause! So no more sweet potatoes for him....Last night I gave him some cooked broccoli for his bedtime snack. I have to call the vet tomorrow to get recommendations for food and snacks to prevent a repeat. I can't pay the current surgery bill now, let alone possibly another one.

Spaghetti with meatballs is on the menu for an early dinner. I will have a brunch snack in a little while. And that will be my food for the day.

    TTFN...

Morning, Team Serial Starters (TSS). I did 2 miles this am, starting at 6:30 when it was already 81. I plan on doing 2 more when it'll probably be about 100. Will finish at a small, "private" beach on a lake where I can let the dogs off leash and I can wade and get wet and feel cool in the shade. That's what we did yesterday afternoon and it was a perfect way to spend a 100 degree afternoon.

I clocked in at 202.2 this morning. Probably dehydrated, hahaha. Nah, I drank 3 liters of water minimum yesterday—as I do everyday. I noticed I'm sleeping a LOT—like, 11 hours, between a long nighttime sleep and a longish daily nap. I know it's the heat and of course I don't worry about it. It doesn't interfere with anything, that's for sure :) And I'll sleep like that the first month or so back to work.

My fruity protein shake was so good just now. Really great after the morning workout.

    TTFN.

    Good Monday to All!

Maureen, you are too ambitious for me...lol! Would be nice if I had a spot like that nearby. Can't WAIT for this new heat wave to break.

Hey, Lana! Keep the faith... I can empathize.

Shouts out to everyone else! Hope you are all well!

I am making another batch of tuna/pasta salad....the pasta is chilling in the fridge before I add the wet ingredients. Makes meal decisions much easier and I can have it with the tilapia I got at Costco. Doing laundry, too....much needed.

I had a chocolate bar for an after dinner snack last night....just goes to show you can indulge and be ok.

    Till tomorrow...

My perimenopause symptoms are raring their ugly head again. I haven't head a good night's sleep in over 2 weeks and am waking up to night sweats on a near daily basis. The lack of sleep is catching up with me as I constantly feel tired and today my body is one giant ache. All of this is making my crave chocolate which doesn't help the number on the scales any!

I also can't really focus at work this morning. Hence why I am on here instead of working on my files.

Ang, BTDT! I'd be awake 1-3 most mornings. Work was awful then. Well, getting up for it. I turned my clock away and that really helped. Felt less tired. Go figure! I hope you find relief soon.

Sandy, I did the walk and it was "only" 93, haha. No beach; I just walked in the neighborhood. My son took the other dog to swim, though. They had fun.

I'm hungry and waiting for groceries. I under-ate yesterday—had a big salad and felt full, but today it's catching up to me and there is nothing in the house right now. I had my fruit & protein shake, so that's done. I need a bigger blender and need to add veggies and especially kale or spinach—something very filling. My sis said a smaller blender worked better for her but I'm finding that's not true for me. And now I have parts of 4 small blenders, but only 2 complete one, haha. Who else said they did?

More of the same today—walk is done, reading, napping, more walking. Oh, and a massage! :) That breaks up the day nicely.

    TTFN.

I was listening to a podcast on running and motivation called "Rediscovering the joy of running" I was raising my hand, nodding my head and going Yes Yes Yes! That person being interviewed could have easily been me!!!! Did I ever need to hear that! I am so glad I opened my podcasts, looked for one on running and that was the very first one that came up!

Lana, right there with ya! Over ate and under-exercised. Ah, well. Today is another day.

Ang, that's serendipity! How lovely. I've had something like that happen once that was really profound and probably life altering. It's the best.

I did two miles this morning and will get in my 2 this evening. I allowed the slight threat of rain to derail me last night. I needed a light day, though. I guess that was it.

I'm having dental work this morning; yuck. I'd undergo any number of surgeries to avoid Novocain shots. Guess that's not an option! I won't eat while I'm numb—it terrifies me to think I could "bite a hole through my cheek." I don't know who or when that idea got into my head about having my mouth numb, but it's been my whole life as far as I know and is the 3rd reason I hate dental work. The shot is #1, and the incredible sensitivity of my teeth is #2. They do so much w/o numbing, and my teeth always hurt. I brushed and brushed all my life and still had the softest damn teeth and felt so guilty. Finally a dentist told me it had a lot more to do with genetics than anything else. Sigh. I'm the only sibling with this issue. My other sibs had zero cavities. I had a mouthful by 10!

Enough of that. Have a lovely day of sunshine and peace!

    Good evening folks,

Lovely to read all your posts, sorry i have not contributed much over the last few weeks, been a bit busy.

We have got to the cold part of our winter. It got to 0celsious or 32F Actually put the heater on a couple of nights. But in good news weather front, we have for once surpassed the long term average for rainfall. Very important in Western Australia. I often joke that we should have a watermark on our birth certificates reading 'But we need the rain' A comment made many times a winter.

I have sort of stalled with the weight loss. I am not gaining, which is always a good thing, and my clothes are fitting better, so it is just a matter of plodding on.

I have CPOD and am enjoying how much better my breathing is and being able to walk more too.

    Anyway, have a lovely day

Good Morning, Ladies! I can say that because we have no gentlemen who have graced us here. 😉

Lana, the cabana boys missed you. 😉

Kate, it is great to see you! You have freezing there and we have melting here....we both need a happy medium. But glad the rain was welcome!

Maureen, I can understand the teeth thing somewhat. I was fortunate enough to have strong teeth....just not straight. And I only had the money to get them straightened once. And when I finally did, they told me I had to have my wisdom teeth taken out before they could straighten them....that took the money. So I resigned myself to having crooked teeth.

The weekly challenge is over and I gained a pound. My own fault....I disregarded my cardinal rule of not eating after 8:00 pm. Hoping this next week will be better. I really want to get into the 150s by the end of August.

    Have a good Hump Day!

    Hello all~

Kate - staying steady with the weight is good. You're probably losing inches. Also good news about your rainfall!

Sandy - you will get there! This week will be better. 🌸

Maureen - either get a different dentist or insist on enough novocaine and waiting until it has spread and numbed everything.

For decades now, my dentist prescribes Valium for my visits that will require novocain. I go 30 minutes early to the office and take it there. It works quickly. Then, she goes very slowly with the shots; I barely feel it. She is really good at it. She gives me more anesthesia than she gives other patients. I also ask her to give me a shot on the tongue side/roof of mouth of whichever tooth it is. That one pinches a tad, but I don't want to feel any drilling. Lastly, she lets me sit for 10 to 15 minutes before beginning work. If by chance I feel anything, she stops, gives me more and then we wait another chunk of time.

We've got it down 🏆 Also, because I take Effexor, I have to have a different anesthesia shot. It wears off more quickly, which could be bad if not managed during the appointment, but pretty cool afterwards.

Waving to Ang and Sara and Missy and anyone else who stops by today~

The last day of July; I'm starting to panic early about going back to work! For teachers, August is "one long Sunday night," as I read somewhere. But my panic should'nt start tomorrow; darn! :)

I go back 8/18. The dread I feel at going back to a week of PD! I just articulated it to someone—they teach us in one of two ways. First, the firehose: so much information, so fast, we cannot possibly take it in. They do this with slides in a print too small to read from anywhere in the room, in a slide show they don't share until the end of the day, with links throughout we need to use but don't know where to find, while talking at high rates of speed, for 2-3 hours non-stop.

Method 2: treating us like children. They model lessons by teaching in a style for various disciplines. This is agonizingly slow and involves content that is just old teaching methods repackaged as a "new" strategy/program/curriculum/initiative. It fails to take into account that (a) we already recognize and know the strategy/program/curriculum/initiative under anywhere from 3-6 other names, depending on how long we've been teaching; and b) we are adult learners who understand new ideas (if there are any) at the highest level of understanding instantly, while the lesson is designed to help children learn at low levels of understanding over the course of an hour. It is agonizingly boring. Generally taught by people who couldn't hack it in the classroom and left.

Sorry for the rant. I feel better to have said it, though!

Great walk in what had to be close to 100% relative humidity! I was able to go really fast (for me), which was necessary b/c I had to get home to use the bathroom. A new record mile time for the newest knee.

Eating well and on track again. Always feels good.

    TTFN.

    Maureen
