What nationality/ethnicity people have mistaken you?

 Aw shoot. Depends on where in the world I am. Most of the time, here in the States, people think I'm Mexican or of some hispanic/latin descent. Other times people have thought I'm Thai, Indian, etc. I am Filipino and probably take more after the spanish blood I might have in my family. When I'm anywhere besides the U.S. people usually guess that I'm from the Philippines.0

LOL
Hebrew and Latino at one point0 -
I am 1/2 Spanish and the rest is native American and white. I get confused for different races all of the time.lol.
Me too. I'm half Mexican and a quarter Cherokee and quarter "white" LOL. People are always surprised.0 -
I'm Russian. I get mistaken for being Mexican or German a lot. Mexican mainly because of my name and people just assume I can speak Spanish.0
-
I'm half-Mexican, part German/Czech/English/Scottish/Irish/Cajun. People generally think I'm Italian or Russian.0

I am 1/2 chinese (first generation of my fam in US), 1/4 german and 1/4 cherokee. Most commonly people think I am hispanic or spanish I alwyas have people coming up amd speaking to me in spanish. , then hawaian, and then there are even sone who tell me I just look white. I'm the one all the way to the right in my pic. Went up to Toronto a couple weekends ago and these guys from Ireland thought I was Irish, because of how I looked and they said I had an Irish accent! That was a first. 100% Polish heritage, born in USA0

Lebanese and sometimes Indian. I'm Greek.0
-
Mexican0
-
I'm half white and Hispanic, but I've been told I look Japanese (they always say it's the hair and eyes). But "mi nariz indio" always gives it away jaja0
-
I was mistaken for Chinese when I was very little, I had black hair and my eyes weren't very wide. As a kid after I tanned all summer from stuff I would be mistaken for Hispanic. I had an art teacher tell me I looked Native American. Granted I have Native American blood in me, but it's very diluted. I've even been told I look like I'm a mixed child (Black x White) though I never could understand why.0

People always think i'm mexican. I AM WHITE!!!!!!!!!!!0
-
I am a mix of all sorts (Italian, Irish and Creole) but people often mistake me for hispanic. But when I tan, people think I am mixed with african american and hispanic/white.0
-
I usually get pegged as being of Irish descent...and I am.
Must be the Guinness I drink! lol0 -
I'm white but often I have been mistaken for Native American (even by Native Americans) and a few times Mexican. The greatest part is that my husband is a registered tribal member for our local (Native American) tribe.0

Filipino. I am Chinese.0
-
I'm African-American, but get mistaken for Cuban or Brazilian on occasion--especially when I'm hangin' in Miami!0

-A few years back, during my trip to Rome, I was mistaken for Italian. I think it was because I could speak some of the language.
-I had an online gamer friend (playing Age of Conan) who thought I was Japanese. To his credit, my guild forum picture was kind of blurry. lol
-A while ago, one of my coworkers thought I was half white/ half black. I'm pretty sure it was because I had super curly hair then and, you know, my flat nose. I used to hate my nose, but I kind of like it now.
-When I was in the military, most people thought I was Spanish. I had curly hair then too, but I mostly tanned as well.
However, I am half white and half Hawaiian; my dad likes to jokingly call me a "Hapa Haole." :laugh:0 -
I am white - my mom's parents emigrated to Canada from Holland in the 50s, and my dad's parents are from Canada and America, and random parts of Europe before that. I have dark hair and eyes, but pale-ish skin. No one ever looks at me and assumes I'm anything but of European heritage.
It's my last name that gets attention. It's two words stuck together, a noun and an adjective, and for those of you familiar with Aboriginal names, it sounds very Aboriginal. Well, actually, it doesn't, but because it's an adjective-noun combo, and because I live in an area where there is a large and visible Aboriginal population, people just assume it is. I even had an Aboriginal lady at work ask me what band I belonged to. The funny thing is this was never a problem until I moved to Southern Alberta.0 -
Asian... but my husband gets it worse. Our friends joke that if we have a kid, she won't be able to open her eyes!
EDIT: We are both of european descent. Don't know where the eyes came from for either of us.0 -
I'm Italian - Lebanese but get mistaken for being Greek (same as my mum) quite a lot!0

I am Ecuadorian and Dominican but I have gotten mistaken for:
Colombian
Puerto-Rican
Indian
Brazilian
Cuban
Mexican0 -
I get mistaken for white all the time.0
-
I'm African-American, but I've been confused for Pacific Islander for some reason. I can't see it personally.0
-
I get mistaken for white all the time.
I lol'd really hard.
I've been mistaken for all sorts of things. When you're of Croatian descent, move to Germany at a young age and grow up there, and then move to the US, most Americans just don't understand. Most Americans don't know what Croatia is, let alone what continent it's on, or what they speak. So I've been mistaken for Russian, Czech, Polish, Greek, Italian, Danish, and once Mongolian. That one really threw me. But for the most part, people just assume I'm American, which I'm alright with, as I do have the citizenship now as well. Haha.0 -
I'm Indian, and used to get mistaken for a Latina. In fact, this lady came up to me and started speaking in Spanish, and when I blurted out 'No habla espanol', switched to English, and totally yelled at me for not honoring my heritage and being uppity, and a whole host of other stuff. The look on her face was priceless when I said 'I'm Indian' after her tirade was over. Didn't apologize either.0

Mixed with Asian because the slant of my eyes. I do, however have native in my blood. (both Great-grandmothers on my mother and fathers side were native)0
