My weakness and learning to run again
Hi there, I have always wanted to become a runner and at one time in my 20's I was successful. I am really struggling with getting back to where I was. I had polio as a child and thank goodness that I am not paralyzed nor confined to a wheelchair because that was a real possibility, especially being born in a third world…

I started C25k today
I did Wk1 D1 of the Run Double C25k today!! I'm doing the timed version so I completed something like 1.26 miles in 18 minutes. I can't wait to see how I improve as time goes on.

C25K resume after surgery
Hey all! I have been doing the C25K training until May 9th when I had my first gallbladder attack which benched me for a month! I was released from my doctor on June 3rd and went back out for my first run back. (I meant to go back to week 4 day 1 but didn't and it started week 5 day 3- where I should have been on May 10th)…

Non-run days
When will it be ok for me to start walking on non-running days? I am at W7D1 tomorrow. I don't own a bike or have a gym membership, so swimming and biking are out of play for me as far as cross training goes. I'm going to start strength training, but I'll admit, I'm a bit of a cardio junkie now, lol.

Virtual 5K - 2-8 June
Continuing the Virtual 5K tradition here in the group, join in a race lasting a week, 2-8 June 2014. Measure the distance on an online map, lace your shoes, set the timer, run, and report back once you're done! Here's an idea for what you might want to share with the group: Name: Gender: Age: Level: Type of surroundings:…

Virtual 5K
Anyone interested in a virtual 5K race? I'd like to know exactly how far that 5K is. My current intervals take me on about 3K, so 2 kilometres on top of those isn't too bad. I can't run it all yet, but I do have the capacity to walk pre- and post-C25K so to speak. It could be a lot of fun to pick a weekend or such, then…

suggestions for corns?
I used to get corns in high school when I worked on my feet all day but have not had any issues with them until I started running. My poor pinky toes are killing me. I am looking for a better pair of running shoes because the Nikes that I have seem to be to narrow. Any other suggestions that might help, heal and prevent…

ZenLabs 10K does NOT sync with MFP ???
Is this right?? Or am I just doing something wrong?? I flipped from the C25K program to the 10K program because with ZenLabs the first 8 weeks are all the same so I just picked up at W6D3 and figured I'd keep rolling along on that one beyond W8...I just liked the idea of having the 10K program because that is now my…

Starting Over...Again!
Hello! I just completed Week 1, Day 1 of the C25K program using my iPhone app. I've done this several times in the past but always seem to quit after week 3. (Lots of excuses but I'm leaving them behind!) My goal is to finish this time (including during my Vegas vacation which falls right after week 3...just thought of…

Unable to edit run
Hey all, I just started the program and I'm unable to edit my distance. I run on a treadmill and on the app it says I did .23 miles, when I did 1.35 miles. Anytime I try and edit it, it says unable to reach server or some junk. Can't find out anything on the site and hoping I'm not the only one dealing with this?

Graduate or Keep Working the Weeks???
I posted this in the weekly update thread too, but I wanted to make sure it was seen... Okay soooo....I knocked W5D3 out of the PARK yesterday!! Actually...when the 20 minutes was up, I ran through the 5 mintue cool down too....then 10 minutes longer to the end of my trail...which made my total running time and…

Exercise on 'rest' days
I started the C25K yesterday and did an extra 60 sec job before the cool down. After that I ended up doing some weights and 20 minutes on the elliptical. Since the program is only 3 days a week and I've been going to the gym 5-6 times a week I would like to keep up my habit. I've been exercising for a few weeks before…

Women at work won't stop saying how HORRIBLE running is...
I'm trying to fight it but it's really briniging me down...every day at work I have been going walking/jogging at lunch and I have been so excited and talking about my upcoming 5K and everyone at work just keeps telling me how bad running is for my knees, and it's not a full body exercise, I'm going to end up with chicken…

Ran my first race today!
Although I technically completed the programme a couple of months ago and have started running longer distances, I never actually signed up for a race. Today, I ran a 5k along with my hubby and a friend. My hubby zipped past us and completed the race in 25 mins but my friend and I kept each other company and ebbed each…

Question about strength training...
Is week 3 too early to start strength training on my off days? I know the app that I'm using says to wait until week 4, but I feel like I should be doing more than just run/walking 3 times a week.

Ligament laxity
I'm curious if there is anyone else here with this problem. I just had a dr appt today for a consult. Since I've primarily done yoga & never been a runner, I have no idea if there are issues I need to be aware of starting up consistent running program. Because I have this condition, I need to ensure that I have proper form…

Starting tomorrow! :D
I just got a gym membership, so re-starting c25k! Excited but terrified, I've quit soooo many times because I get shin splints whenever I run. Anyone starting? :) It'd be awesome to keep each other motivated! :D

running everyday
When do you get to the point where you can run everyday? I know rest days are needed, but after you've created the program is your body up to the point where you can run more than 3 times a week?

In need of some guidance!

When will this stop hurting?!
I'm a total newbie to running. I started a couple of months ago building up a good walking base and losing 15lbs (now down to 205) because I knew I wanted to do the C25K program (actually, it's 5k Runner on my phone). The first couple of days were great, but then by the third day my calves were knotted up so tight that I…

The W3 Difference
Hi all, I'm a re-newbie, as in, I started C25K last year and gave it up. I started again three weeks ago, and I'm now--you guessed it--on W3. I did D1 on Wednesday and found myself about dying to get through the 3 minute jogging segments (and I feel pretty pathetic about it...) Do you have any suggestions? Should I redo…

What am I doing?
Am I completely insane to think I can do this? Possibly. Am I going to do this? Yes. Hi! I'm a 36 year old obese woman who can barely run. I can walk, in fact I clock anywhere from 5000 steps (on a day off) to 25000 on a work day. I've done a little bit of this before on a treadmill and got quite far. That was back when I…

Newbie C25K Questions
Some background... I have been doing a 1k run followed by very very brisk walking every night for about a month (approx 3-5k total per evening). So I think I'm approaching this program with a good "walking base". I started C25K on Friday. I did W1, D1 but found it too easy. On Saturday I did W2, D1 and then W1, D2…

Today I'm a C25K graduate!
Just wanted to share this for the people who are thinking about doing this, people who are into it already and wondering why, or anybody who just needs some extra motivation. I started week 1 barely able to run for 1 minute. I even told myself I'm never gonna finish this but I'm going to go as far as I can and keep…

Newbie! Is anyone else just starting out?
Hi Everyone. I didn't even know this group existed! (I've only been a member of MFP for a few months and haven't ventured too far from the diary and the newsfeed with some friends I acquired intially). SOOO glad I found this group. I'm going to curl up with my tablet later on and just treat myself to some reading! I can…

First 5K
It's official. My registration form and cheque are written for my fist running 5k. (I did a walking 5k back somewhere over 10 years ago in college). It's not to September, so I have nearly 5 months to train for this. Hope I can do it!
