W3D1 Completed but SOOO SLOW
Hi, this is my 2nd go around at the C25K program and I quit last time at week 3 because of bad shin splints and I think I was just going too fast (still probably super slow to others). The first 2 weeks I was running at around at 12:20-12:30 pace during the running intervals and was doing great. Today I had to slow way…

How fast should my run time be?
I am a 5.6 female, weigh 116 pounds and have just started running in the past 2 or 3 weeks, but I am planning to run a 5k in one month, and would like to cut down my run time a lot, and be able to run the whole thing. Right now, I am getting around 13 minutes a mile. I need to know a good goal to have, and some tips to…

Possible Runner's Knee?
Dammit! Just when I feel like I'm really getting this running thing, my knee starts to hurt. Quick back story: I had ACL replacement about 7 years ago and have been sedentary to the point of solidity since then (and, tbh, before then). I've been on C25K for about 8 weeks with no real trouble. On Wednesday after a 12 minute…

Should I move on??
My first attempt at week 5 day 3 I failed. I had to walk like 5 minutes or more. I did a repeat tonight. I ran all of it except for 1 minute. Between my 17th minute and 18th I walked a brisk walk and then finished the rest at my run. So should I repeat one more time or just move on to week 6?

Zen running?
Hey, I've been doing the c25k programme recently and despite always being active in field sports and swimming I have hated running all my life (it just doesn't ring my bell). I recently took up triathlon and completed my first sprint one last month and for the first time ever I've found the swim training tough. Anyway...to…

Temporary pain around my middle?
I did W4D1 today(killer for me!) and during my last interval of walking and running I felt a pain around my stomach area. It was a few inches above my belly button and a couple inches beneath my ribs. I mostly felt it when I would inhale and it went away within about 30 minutes after the cool down. This 30 minutes included…

Opinions?
Hi Guys I started C25K in August... when I started I couldn't even run for 30 seconds solid at any one time. Last week I finished the W5D3 20 minute run. It wasn't pretty. I was gasping for breath at the end. I am really slow when I run but I complete the runs. This week I started a Learn to Run Clinic where I live. A good…

Quads Still Hurt
So I did my 3rd 5K on Sunday, and I had a fantastic run! I reached my goal of finishing within 45 minutes (43:31 to be exact). I knew I pushed myself hard that day, but this the first time I've had this long of a recovery. I didn't take my chocolate milk with me (my preferred recovery drink) thinking they would have…

Knee Pain at the start of the run
Hi I started C25K a month or so ago and I have just completed week 4. I have not run before this program. I wear Asics Gel Kayano 20. I run very slow and as per Runtastic; my average speed for week 4 has been 5.5 km per hour and an average pace of 10:54 min/km I have for the past week started facing a bit unusual problem.…

Migraines?
Has anyone else starting C25K had a problem with it triggering your migraines? I had my 2nd post workout migraine yesterday... I first started C25K last year & life got in the way & I stopped, this year I have been working out for almost 4 months & started C25K again just 2 weeks ago, although I have done a bit a jogging…

Week 5 Day 3 and beyond
So I just finished Week 5 Day 3 last night and if that was the end I'd be excited. Any advice going forward, two more workouts and than everything is just straight jogging for weeks. I ran the 20 minutes yesterday at an 11:34 pace which was a good steady pace for me, but I can definitely say I was exhausted afterwards and…

Carrying a Bag While Running a 5k?
I'm running my second 5K this Sunday morning and it's expected to rain. I want to bring a change of clothes and shoes to the race so I can change after and not be soaked and miserable at the party after. The problem is, I don't drive. I plan to take the bus to the race and take the bus back afterwards. I tried running with…

Help! I'm stuck!
I'm three weeks into c25k and haven't had very much trouble with time increases until now. I was able to complete w3d1 with only a little trouble (had to stop about 30 secs early on the three minute) but I have now attempted to do day w3d2 twice and failed about during the first 3 minute run would attempt to just pick back…

Running After Car Accident (Any thoughts on restarting?)
I have been running for a few years now. I just completed a 10K prior to a car accident. My PT has now cleared me to start running again, but he warns me to take it very slow and only to start with a few minutes. So . . . my mind goes to C25K. On the one hand, am wondering if it is too much, but on the other, am wondering…

Tips for starting the Couch to 5K
I don't know if there is a post for this but I am going to be starting the Couch to 5K program next week and I was wondering if anybody who is doing it or has finished it can give me some tips on how to start on the right foot and how to stay focused to see it to the end. Any help will be most welcome. Thank you.

Trying but just not a "runner"
Let me preface this by saying I don't hate running I'm just awful at it. I've always dreamed of being the type of person someone described as "a runner". I'm 5'2" so my stride is faily small and I'm also a severe overpronator. Fortunately, those things don't seem to be the part holding me back, it's my cardio. I can't run…

Third time lucky?
I started C25K again for the third time yesterday morning (I refuse to give up!) . The first try, my heart wasn't really in it, and I had a LOT of weight to lose. I was running with a friend at that stage, and I felt so guilty each time because she was fitter than I was and I felt like I was holding her back. I got to the…

Hip pain- possible trochanteric bursitis?
I took a few days off from my daily strengthening exercises (clamshell, leg lifts, stretching) and from running while a friend was visiting. I finally got my W6D2 run in yesterday, and felt really tight during the run. After the run, as well as today, I've been having a decent amount of hip pain, on both sides but…

Angry Hips!
Hi All, I'm on W1D2 of the program and am looking for some advice. Until recently, I lived a completely sedentary lifestyle. I spend most of my daytime hours sitting down, working on a computer and most of my nighttime hours sitting down, working on a vegetative state. I imagine it will come as no surprise when I say: I am…

Week 4
Please tell me this gets easier! It hasn't been too rough but I did week 4 day 1 today and talk about kicking my *kitten*! I finished but it was a lot of will power. That last 5 jogging was tough. Ok, I just needed to vent to some people who would understand. Lol.

I started today, and it wasn't horrible!
2 months ago I tried to start c25k (at over 300 pounds). It did not go so well, at all, couldn't make it though a minute without gasping for air and horrid shin pains. I spent the last two months swimming to build up my endurance and overall health, and today I tried W1D1 again. I was expecting it to be a horrible…

Back on the Horse
I completed my first round of C25K in June...and then had fits and starts with running the rest of the summer. I got a new bike, found a yoga studio I love, started dating someone, got busy at work (the list goes on and on)...and kind of let running go to the back burner. Jumping back on the wagon, started with Week 2 this…

Will shin pain eventually go away?
Hi! I’m new to C25k and running in general. I’ve always hated running and have never been any good at it but I still have this strange desire to do it. I’m an avid hiker/backpacker and love the way I feel after a long tough hike. I think running can do the same and it’s something I can do more often than hiking. I also see…

Just starting
Hello all. I just ran my first week day 1. I was really psyched I did it. I take karate 1-2 days a week. I work 3 12 hr shifts. I am entering my first 5 K run in November. Should I commit to run on the karate days? If not it will be 4 days between runs. So only 2 per week. Any helpful suggestions? All tips appreciated:-)…

Oh, no! What did I do?!
Okay, so last Tuesday, I started Week 5 and I was SOOO excited for the 20 minute run coming up. Not kidding here, people. I think I'm becoming addicted. Anyway, after my run I sat down on the swing in my yard to take my sneakers off. No longer had I sat down, my Pops yells at me to help him move something and when I got…

controlling your pace?
Hi everyone, It seems that every time I start c25k, I get to week 2 and because my pacing is out of wack I'm panting and ready to collapse by the end of the run. I get discouraged and stop running. I can tell that I'm going too fast, but I can't seem to slow down. So how do you guys control your pacing?

Strange Foot Pain for Noobie
For the second time since forever I walked (briskly) 3 miles with a friend on a trial . Afterwards I had a strange pain on my left foot. It's strange because it like a tiny sharp pain as if someone stabbed my needle through my foot top to bottom. It's located about an 2 inches down from the base of my pinky toe and an inch…

Spotify Playlists
I'm thinking of re-downloading Spotify onto my phone (I couldn't figure out how to use it last time), but was wondering if anyone could recommend a playlist for C25k?

Starting C25K Today
Hey all! I just joined MFP after browsing through the forums for months. I am also starting the C25K program today. I have started it a few times in the past, but have always quit. I'm sticking to my guns this time though and arming myself with my new motto, No Excuses. My mother started the program in August 2012 and has…
