  • I'm starting over as well, and also finding it a lot harder this time around. Good luck!
  • Download the app to your smartphone (assuming you have one) that way you have no excuses other than yourself when you don't log. I don't like to log, but I do it because I know it helps. I hit a plateau a couple of years ago, got frustrated, and quit logging. I kept working out, and *thought* I was eating at a…
  • Being from Indiana, I have the same problem OP! I have trouble avoiding the beer tent now that I'm of legal age haha but I limit myself to only one, and I make sure I eat before I leave for the festivals/fairs. If the unavoidable hunger hits while I'm there, I just make sure it's the small corn dog, not the super dog or…
  • This!!! Anything with the name "artificial" should really throw up red flags! I'll stick to my real sugar, thanks. I eat it, count it, and move on.
  • As several other posters have said, then don't say no to the pizza! Just say no to more than a slice or two. I've found that I can't truly cut out anything from my diet, or I crave it so bad that nothing sounds good, I gorge, and end up feeling miserable. Moderation is key.
  • Hey! Nice to see that I'm not the only one that's basically starting over here! I lost 45 pounds initially, but have gained almost all of it back since switching jobs, full time school, and just getting too stressed out to do anything but EAT! But now I'm BACK, I WILL win the fight against fat, and I WILL look fabulous in…
  • I'd be binging like crazy if I tried this, just like these others. Not worth it to me. I haven't "cut" anything out and still lost quite a bit! I'm content with myself at my current size. Even though I'm not at my "goal" I'm healthier, able to run, and overall feel better. That should be the REAL goal...feeling better!
  • Into the Woods, Seussical (trust me, it's worth seeing, young or old!), The Music Man, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Hmm...the only one I haven't been in is Chitty...coincidence?! ;)
  • Random textures! Like the feel of fish scales...totally freaks me out! I'm also afraid of the look of plucked-out chickens, like when they've been really stressed out and their feathers are falling out and all you see is the stemmy-part sticking out of the skin...it makes me gag and run! Although...unless it's on my plate,…
  • A lot of people I know have had success with Couch to 5K, but it wasn't the program for me. I'd been a runner in the past (middle school and high school years) and just got lazy in college. I just set daily goals for myself now for my run and if I make it great, if not I push myself that much harder the next time. That's…
  • I'm not 100% Native American, but I've got Ojibwe on my mother's side. I've lost just shy of 45 pounds since starting this on January 1, 2012. Still working on it, and VERY glad to see so many success stories!
  • I'm not a huge raw veggies person either, but I love fruit! If you're like me, go for a Greek yogurt with fruit on the bottom (dannon light and fit Greek is only 80 calories a container) and tons of protein! If I don't have that, I make a fruit smoothie using some fresh or frozen berries, a little soymilk, and ice. Crush…
  • You're probably not the only one around here looking to gain. After all, MFP is for both loss and healthy gain! So welcome :) I'll add you as a friend to support your efforts! I'm 21, a horseback rider, attempted runner (I failed miserably last spring trying to run and ended up destroying my ankle, but will be trying again…
  • Leftover homemade Chinese from the other night ;) my fiance and I won't see each other today due to work. Darn adulthood responsibilities.
  • I haven't used it to cook yet, but I use it in my smoothies or just with fruit as a snack after my workouts. It's the only yogurt I eat anymore because its so good.
  • I don't cut any foods off. If I want them, I make sure to budget it into my day and eat it! I also allow myself one day a week (roughly) to eat over my calories, and for over a year now it's been pretty successful.
  • Definitely sour patch kids! I let myself have the little packages now and then in moderation, but if I have the big one around it's toast! Sweet Tarts are almost as addictive for me as sour patch!
  • I decided to start the Jillian Michael's Killer Abs workout AND do my stationary bike today...and at twice the normal length of ride on said bike ;) when it's really been a "fat" week.
  • Thin crust Hawaiian with no bacon (pizza hut uses bacon...but keep the ham and pineapple) and bbq sauce instead of marinara. An 8-inch Hawaiian at my local Pizza King (not sure what your restaurant is) is just under 600 calories.
  • Taco Soup! My recipe includes... -1 can corn -1 can light red kidney beans -1 can red beans or pinto beans (I've been using red beans) -2 cans of diced tomatoes -1 small can green chilies (or buy two cans of tomatoes with green chilies in them instead) -1 onion, diced -1 packet taco seasoning -1 packet ranch dressing mix…
  • Band Geek, Theater Geek, and Horse-Obsessed. I had VERY FEW true friends because of the last one...apparently at my high school (which was IN A CORNFIELD...so yes a small country school) being a horseback rider made you a social outcast. However people still found plenty of crap to say about me, including a couple of…
  • The first week or two was the hardest for me. Once I got myself into the swing of eating better though, it's been a lot easier. I still allow myself a can of pop now and then, but I make sure that it fits into my limits (and I usually add some rum haha). Just remember that depriving yourself of something can make you end…
  • Not so much a fear as a HUGE texture issue with me...fish scales! I can't touch them or anything ridged like them without gagging. I think it stems from having stitches in my top lip as a kid that felt like a row of ridged scales. My fiance thinks it's hilarious. I have lots of other texture issues too, but I think that…
  • Probably the orange teriyaki beef I made for dinner tonight for my family over brown rice. Maybe I'd add a side of asparagus sauteed in olive oil, as well. Or pizza, cuz ya know, pizza is a college student staple, and I am after all a broke college kid!
  • Having NEVER taken a Zumba class or done any of it before, I bought the game for wii figuring I would be able to figure out the moves and have a good time with it without making a fool of myself in front of a class full of people. Boy was I WRONG! I gave up on it, honestly. However, if you know some of the moves already…
  • Assistant teacher in a child care center. Keeps money in the pockets while going to school to become a high school English teacher with a mild intervention minor.
  • What stopped me from eating it so much probably won't help a lot of people, but I looked at my bank account, saw how much I was putting into eating junk for so long, and realized that I can eat food that's just as good if not better (almost always better) from home if I just make myself pack it. I spent several days not…
  • My 21st birthday was on the 3rd :) Woo January babies!
  • I eat there probably once a week during the school year, because it's the healthiest option on campus. My campus offers Subway, Taco Bell, and a Pizza Hut Express (that only offers personal pan pizzas, pre-mixed salad with dressing, and breadsticks). I don't like the "healthy" options at Taco Bell, because they seem to…
