Apps for tracking weight lifting
I haven't looked at MFP's strength training tracker lately, maybe it's improved but really doesn't seem suited for tracking strength gains. What do you use? Why? I'm looking for a good set of standard exercises to code from. Tracking sets and reps. Various graphs to judge progress And after going through two phones in…

60 day challenge
I'm starting a 60 day lifting challenge after not working out for over a year, due to breaking my collar bone. I figure 60 days of being consistent is a good starting goal. Has anyone done this with noticeable results in this amount of time? Also if anyone can relate to gaining strength back after breaking a clavicle tips…

Hey everyone! Recently I went on a trip this week with family. Admittedly, I have more mass on me. My weight is less than what it was when they have seen me last. They have said I gained weight. It really got into my feelings. Now, I DO NOT want to look skinny. I still feel really small in muscle all around my body. My dad…

Should I bulk?
I’m sure many ask this question but I’ve just finished a 12 week cutting plan and have dropped from 88kg to 79kg. I’m 6ft4 and now look really skinny (not fond of this size) Now going based on some scales that show body fat percentage it says I’m at 17.5%. Here is what I look like: Should I start bulking? Or should I…

Pre-diabetes
Hi. I joined mfp a few years ago as I wanted to gain weight. I reached my goal weight quite quickly and found I needed to take in far more calories than mfp calculated in order to maintain. Initially I started a lifting programme too (SLx5) which was great but I had to stop after a year or so due to various health issues…

Gaining muscle/toning when at healthy weight
Hi, I'm a BMI of 24 and my body is like skinny fat where basically I still look fat but I'm skinny. I want to get a smaller waist etc and I know id have to tone up to do that. Would I need to gain muscle? Myfitnesspal is telling me I should eat 1,700 calories which is scary because I've always tried to eat small (1,200…

The Truth About Eating Before You Workout
I work out in the mornings (lifting followed by cardio) and have read varying opinions on the benefits/detriments to eating (specifically carbs) before working out. I've read doing so can redirect some bodily functions to digestion-which may be detrimental-to eating carbs 30-60 minutes before will allow your body to use…

Too much?
My current workout routine is 1.5 to 2 hours, 6 days a week. I focus on weights for about an hour, ab routine 10 min, then 20 min of HIIT. I've read conflicting articles about over training/ under recovery and just wanted insight. I'm 5'11" 178 lbs and trying to put on a little more lean muscle. Any thoughts?

Be honest with me
Hi, I have attached some pictures for reference: Both pictures on the left was taken in July 2020 when I think I was about 120-122 lbs. The pictures on the right was taken today at 126.0 lbs. If I'm being honest, I *feel* fat. It is about 6 lbs difference after all, I think my tummy look bigger. But I have also been…

Dumb question - moving barbell from squat rack to floor
I hope this is not a dumb question but I just started furnishing my home gym and started Stronglifts 5x5. I set up a squat stand and purchased a bar and some plates. I am still lifting very low weight but even so, I am finding it not so easy to get the bar off and back on the squat level arms to do the deadlifts. I am…

Biofeedback testing and autoregulation
I’ve been reading stuff by David Dellanave about biofeedback testing to autoregulate your lifting. The idea is that you do a range of motion test like touching your toes before starting an exercise (to set a baseline). If you do a set and your ROM improves it’s a green light to continue and you continue to lift until your…

Women over 50 - is it really possible to bulk?
For years I have been saying I'd like to gain 5 lb -- of muscle not fat (vanity). I realize this is a long term project. I'm willing to undertake a long term project, though, and that isn't the reason I've avoided it. The real reason I haven't stepped to the plate is uncertainty. At the end of a year+ effort, will I really…
