Why do people gain all their weight back so often?
I commonly hear that the vast majority of people who lose weight end up gaining it all back again. Why is that? No matter how gently you lose, there is some amount of sacrifice involved, often over a very long period of time. Why throw all that away? It seems logical that I can't go back to the eating habits that got me…

Third try the lucky one?
Being only 21, I've gone through a lot in the last few years that has made my life pretty hard to deal with. My first time losing my weight I managed to get up the motivation I needed to be able to fit into my grad dress for the end of my school year. That goal came easy to me. Once grad was over life started, and I…

Help! I'm recovering from calorie restriction
I've struggled with my weight for my entire life. As a child I was diagnosed with cancer and needed chemotherapy, which shot my weight up to nearly 200 pounds on a 5"3' frame by the time I was 13. Once I entered high school, I decided I needed to lose weight. It was slow at first, starting with 1500 calories a day. By the…

I also have questions about what type of workout regime I should be doing. Right now I do about an hour of zumba a day, as…

Calories needed to maintain
I HAVE DISCOVERED THE FORUMS. This is my 3rd post today :D So how did those of you in maintenance find the calories needed for you to maintain? Trial and error? I had been eating about 1300-1400 calories and maintaining. Then, even though I didn't do anything different I started to lose weight. I upped my calories to 1500…

One mistake leads to a binge?
I find that after one little mistake, like an extra cookie or something, I go on an all out binge (meaning 500 extra calories of food). This is totally unhealthy but I don't know how to stop. Any mantras or ways of thinking that have helped you guys?

How come everyone seems to be able to eat more than me?
I'm 23 years old, female, 5'3 and currently weigh around 116lbs. I'm struggling to figure out how much I should be eating, I'm trying to maintain my weight with the acceptance that I might gain some muscle weight due to weight lifting. Everyone who's into lifting on here is fully against 1200 calorie diets but I don't seem…

Gaining on less than calorie goal?
My MyFitnessPal is set to maintaining weight, which for me is around 1800 calories. I am recovering from a calorie restriction mindset, but have been eating at least 1200 cals per day for the past month which doesn't sound like much, but is a big deal for someone who used to eat under 900. Anyways, I have gained three…

Maintaining with fitbit calorie calculations
I am very leary on increasing my calories to what my fitbit one tells me I burn in a day, average roughly 2900-3100 cal, 23000-26000 steps, minimum of 90 "very active" minutes, however I only eat between 1600-1800 calories. I workout at least 5 days a week. I have reached maintenance as of a few months ago and still…

Weight loss goals? Achievable?
Hey, so I weigh about 253 pounds and want to get to about 215 by Summer ideally July. I'm 178cm tall and this is my plan I'm eating 1800 calories a day down from the 2200 I'm suppose to be eating and I'm also swimming for 30 minutes a day four times a week and hopefully increasing that time once I get better.

Tidbits
Here's some random tidbits of my own. I've lost 45 pounds so far. 1) If you're going to use My Fitness Pal you must be able to measure your foods. If a food is hard to measure or hard to enter into MFP you'll have problems. I avoid foods which are hard to measure. I do enter my wife's favorite recipes and ask her to fix…

Newbie, muscle gain question
Hi there, I'm new to MFP, just set it up today after realising the food database was much better than S Health. I have selected that I want to 'maintain weight' but ideally I'd like to gain muscle mass. Should I have selected that I wanted to 'gain weight' instead? Yours, Confused newbie.

When I have more calories, I eat worse
When I only have a hundred calories left, I eat a piece of fruit. When I have 300 calories, I eat candy. Now that I'm in maintenance mode and can eat so much more, I'm eating less healthy food. I know there's nothing wrong with candy now and then but it would be good to have the apple first.

Minor setback and a revelation
Anyway, I've been off the forum here for while. I still log every day, but after losing by 60 (240 to 180 as of last June), I got a "bit" lazy.... sneaking in bigger portions, heavier beers, candies at work... lots of those "quick add calories" days!.... many of you know the deal. My new wardrobe I procured sill fits fine,…
