Freaking out a little...is this to be expected?
I have been absolutely working my butt off since xmas. I set myself a target to get to 9 stone...so close to it. However in the last week I have noticed a gradual increase in weight. I know it appears bf% is dropping. Is this to be expected, as in do you think the gains are lean mass?? I know weight is a silly thing to go…

Bulk/Cut vs. Increase Calories on Lifting Days
I lost 100lbs last year without being very smart about such things, so I ended up very "skinny-fat". What does everyone think about lifting three days a week and increasing calories those three days (as opposed to long bulk and cut cycles)? Honestly, bulking freaks me out because I can really see myself picking up old…

Lightly active, active, very active
How do you know which setting to fit best to? What determines someone is active? I workout 4+ times a week and try to walk more than 10,500 steps a day.

Cheat meals
Hey everyone, I'm 19, 5ft11in and I weigh 135lbs. According to MFP, my TDEE for maintenance goes up to 2060 calories (I set my activity levels to very low, since my workout routine has been a little irregular lately). Can I have 1 or 2 cheat meals a week eating at maintenance or should I stay in a caloric deficit in order…

Preparing for a vacation
What do you do to prepare for a vacation? We are heading to my inlaws' house soon. My mother in law loves to cook and is amazing at it. Big, elaborate meals with decadent side dishes and a different dessert (or two) every night. Of course she also has lots of homemade zucchini bread and giant peanut butter/chocolate…

Maintaining. Good or bad?
I've reached my goal of 163 3 weeks ago. Since then I've maintained. But mentally seeing a loss was my reward knowing what I'm doing is working. I know it's crazy but I get upset not seeing any more loss even though I'm maintaining. Im also lifting so I assume I may even see gains? I'm just trying to get over the mental…

How much should I be eating?
Hey guys, I have lost about 20 pounds over the last 6 months or so, mostly cutting out crap, and actually getting regular exercise. Lately I've been realizing I don't think I'm eating nearly enough, maybe 1000 calories on a good day, and then having cheat days. (Not a good habit I know). I'm 5ft and around 115 pounds. I…

Runners who lift/lifters who run?
I've been on here for over three years and I noticed most people I know either do one or the other, but few do both. Am I a special person? I mean, I hit the gym five mornings per week and I run as many times. I like both equally. So, anyone is into both? Add me if you are!

Determined to break old habits!
Today is the 375th day of my streak! I lost 37 lbs and have been maintaining for about 8 months. Then I fell back into old habits and stopped weighing myself for a couple of months. That is usually how I gain weight. This morning I weighed and found that I am up 6 lbs, so I changed my calorie limit to lose 1 lb a week.…

Confused about maintenance, muscle, and recomp
Hi all. I've been reading a bit about recomp, and think it's something I'd like to do. But I'm confused as to how to go about it. My stats: - 52 yo female - 5'2" - maintaining, 112-115 lbs I dropped 20+ pounds over the last year. My main form of activity is walking. I'm fairly satisfied with my current weight. However, I…

importance of lifting while recomping?
I know that the standard advice for recomping is - 1) eat at maintenance 2) get enough protein 3) get on a heavy, progressive lifting program But... Is lifting specifically required for a successful recomp? Can other forms of exercise be used to recomp, either in addition to or in place of heavy lifting, assuming there is…

Is this yo-yoing?
I have noticed a distinct pattern over the last few years.. Every winter i gain around 6lbs, and lose it again by mid summer. Is this yo-yo dieting? It will be winter again here in a couple of months, and this year I'm going to make a concerted effort to stay in my maintenance range. I would just like to complete one full…

From Cutting to Maintenance
I've spent the past 12 weeks on a slight deficit (0.5 lbs per week) and I am satisfied with my results. I spent a lot of that time using a scale, measuring out my foods for meal prep, and splitting my meals up into 3 main meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and 3 snacks throughout the day about 2-3 hours apart. I have also…

Another dumb weight question !
I asked for your advice regarding whether I should ditch the scale and you have been very helpful so thank you ! <3 Now , I decided to use an app to track my weight and also give myself a range. However , I am stuck again as I don't know what range I should aim for ! I am currently 5'2 and maintaining at about 110lbs. What…

Maintenance Busted!
After losing 70#, I successfully maintained for 6 months. My idea was to settle in, give myself a break, then hunker in to lose the last 10. My "drop back" to 1700 started March 1, and I have since gained 10 pounds. Up to 160. It's not water weight, or muscle or food in my tract. Its the result of completely losing control…

Maintenance Calories while on Vacation
I'll be on vacation this coming week with my in-laws. I've been losing consistently and I feel it is more realistic to have a maintenance week instead of trying to stick to my usual deficit. The TDEE calculator at tdeecalculator.net suggests about 1700 calories to maintain my current weight at sedentary. Can anyone give me…

Maintenance range: actual weight or moving average weight
For those who weigh daily or frequently and track in a trending app: is your "take action" number an actual daily weight number or the moving average line? For exampke, When the daily weight jumps above the top end of the range, say 150, do you immediately go into deficit mode or just when the moving average gets up there?…

Very few extra calories once I go into maintenance
I have just checked as I am now very close to goal weight, and I will only be getting 250 extra calories once I switch from losing .5 per week to maintenance. Just want to check that is right. Can u sense the disappointment whilst typing?! Was hoping for a few more there to play with....

starting to do some low carb
Lost 40 lbs 4 years ago, gained back 10, playing around with 7-10 lbs so this week I decided to switch it up a bit, doing meat, veggies, salad. The cravings seem less. Anyone else do low carb?

Loose skin.....
Losing all this weight has been great, except for all the loose skin that came with it. The joys of being the wrong side of 40 for weight loss. Will this skin eventually shrink back closer to my current size or is it something to deal with for the rest of my life?
