happy 2015 to you too. Lets make this the year we lose this excess weight. I love all the saying you people are giving us. Welcome back. I think we all put on a few over the holidays but that's Ok we will just work a little harder to get it off. Can't get these Golden Years people down.
Marie....One for all and all for one.

  • Hello there Marie. Mmm I love cherries too! But then, I love most things that will go in my mouth, sigh.
Happy day everybody, and as Shirley will tell you as well, it's a little nippy up here in the frozen north.
I remember that mantra you've given us Shirley from when I did yoga years ago. My D-in-law is asking if I'd like to start yoga again with her. Maybe I will, it's extremely good for any age and I tried out the one leg tree? position today in the privacy of home and I did it without toppling over!

:D Marie, I don't have a fitbit but all the people I know who have them, love them. You will enjoy having it. Keep us posted on how it is going.

:'( It was raining so much this morning that neither of my dogs wanted to go out for their walk after breakfast so I went out without them. They went back to bed and I got almost totally soaked but had 10,000 steps by the time I got home.

smiley-laughing004.gifI made some awesome meals today that were super healthy, nourishing, and low calories but I tend to smoosh everything together so they would never make great photos like Bob's meals.

I have just eaten some chocolare coins. Tidying up the christmas decorations you know! How is it that I know it is not good for me, that it will slow down the weight loss, that I will feel guilty, but I still do it?

oh well, a new day and a new beginning tomorrow, and all the chocolate coins are gone. Noy you know why I am called nutty!

Day 1 complete on my eating plan. Dinner is done and dishes are washed.
Now the tough part, watching TV with no snacks, maybe I will have some fruit if I am hungry.
Who am I kidding, I will be hungry. :s

Marie, good luck with your fitbit and let us know how it works. That will be my next go to when my pedometer gets old. Right now I'll stick with it.

Bob, your cat Sabrina has lovely markings. Such a pretty cat. Izzy is back home with his mom today.

    Have a good evening.

nutty, you need a new word for the day (and every day). It's "Now". Never put off until tomorrow, what you can do now. We all slip, but afterwards, just need to start over "now".

  • Good morning all you Goldie's. I was brave, I gave the birds the remaining shortbread, stale mince pies etc. and everything else not considered "healthy" went into the garbage bag. I have to do this or my fingers will stray as the day wears on.
    Enjoy your day, Anne.

    :D Barbie

Pretty much what I have had to do. There are 1 or 2 trigger foods that I stay far away from...I know myself well enough...:)

And Shirley - Owning a sailboat and sailing all summer on Lake Ontario, must be wonderful. We LOVE the water...so peaceful and beautiful. You'll have to share a few photos some time.

Karrin066 & jeanniebeanie... I do love putting meals together - Besides wife & daughter - I love photography & cooking. This was breakfast today:

ps..my wife has friends call her - jeanniebeanie LOL

Caliecat -- let us know your opinion of Fitbit... been thinking of getting one but not sure; right now I have been looking into a Bluetooth SmartScale (although the data I need is really right on MFP) certainly a "want" not a "need."

Going lite for dinner - had lunch at Ruby Tuesday's but didn't go crazy - just broccoli & 6 oz. petite steak.

    ONLY 73 days til Spring!!!

I love the pictures of your cats, keep them coming. Nutty

Bob I miss your post too. I did comment but i guess I did not hit post reply
sorry . your breakfast looks pretty good. You do eat a lot of protein.. Boy you have really lost a ton of weight.

I notice your ticket does not appear all the time on you post. So do you copy and paste, that is the only way I can get it on my post and have to do it every time no automatic like we used to have. Just curious. I have decided I will do that on my weigh in day once a week.

    Morning,

Just fried up some mushrooms for my omelette this morning. Last night we visited my cousin
and his wife gave us a doughnut and coffee. I didn't have the heart to say no. I got on the scale this morning and not much damage. I did well all day.

The weather is cold 19F this morning and going down to single digits tonight.

Bob- Your breakfast looks really good, and lots of protein. That must be your key to losing
    - weight. Good job! I will post a picture of our boat but on our lap top. I am just learning on my Tablet and can't seem to do everything on here yet. I tried copying and pasting yesterday and it didn't work.

Have a good day everyone and keep warm those who are in the frozen North.

Good Morning all. Seems you are all doing a great job. I'm staying under calories, but stuck on weight. It seems getting to within 1 pound of a big mini-goal just keeps that pound stuck to my body like glue. ppffttt
Shirley, I'm glad your donut didn't do any damage but you need to be strong enough to just say "no thank you". It seems there are so many people in the world that try to sabotage us and it's up to us to stay the course. Speaking for myself, if I had a donut that didn't do any damage, I would think I could have another one. lol

Have a great and healthy day everyone and keep up the good work.

Hi, my name is Tuddy (real name Marilyn). I am 62 in March and am headed for a 100 lb weight loss (no time limit). You all sound like a fun group to be with. Nikonpal your meals look amazing!!. Now that all the holiday goodies are gone it's time to get serious. Would welcome any friends for encouragement and conversation. Have a super day!

:D Janet, thank you for what you said about saying "No".....my journey on MFP started when a friend said "I bought a bagel for you" and I said "No, thank you". Since then it has gotten easier to say No to any food that is not on my plan.

:D Tuddy, welcome to our friendly community. You will find good conversation here and support from others who are serious about weight loss and health.

:D I've walked the dogs for about two hours this morning and now am showered and dressed and as soon as I put my shoes, coat, gloves, and hat on, I'll be headed for the intermediate line dance class. The teacher plans to teach a new difficult dance so it will be a workout for both brain and body.

Nutty – Congrats on keeping things “well under control.”

Shirley – The mushroom omelet sounds great. The temp here is 13F and tomorrow is to be sub-zero with the wind chill – so a hot breakfast will be on the agenda. Look forward to seeing your boat. One of my favorite quotes is: "We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch - we are going back” ... John F. Kennedy. (After all this boat talk – I just changed my profile pic to one I took this summer)

Marie & Shirley & Tuddy – Thanks re: weight-loss. I have passed my original goal, but my new goal still puts me another 10-20 further down the road. It’s hard to say exactly. I’m going more by the size/fit of clothes at this stage. I know I’ll never be college weight again, but NEVER will I ever be obese again…and you can take that to the bank. (Tuddy – good luck on that 100 lb. goal…it is well worth it! )

I probably do lean toward protein foods first, followed by vegetables, fruits and then whole grains….but I do stay within the MFP protein guidelines 99% of the time. This morning, breakfast only contained 11g out of my 75g protein goal for the day: Mandarin oranges , 4 oz; Breakstone Live Active - Cottage Cheese 4 oz.; Driscoll - Raspberries, 1.75 oz; Banana, 0.75 oz; TOTAL CALORIES: 165

    20150107_105730_breakfast_zps4f855fd3.jpg

And Barbie – as Marie said “enjoy” all that dancing.

On a more somber note – Will be at a wake this evening and funeral in the morning. We lost a long-time (40 year) friend. She was 88 – always active - owned a business most of her life (her husband died in 1976). Until the last 3 years, she bowled, played cards etc….I’d laugh because you really had to make an appointment to see her because her calendar was always full! Alzheimer’s disease doesn’t seem to discriminate.

“Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow.” Helen Keller

Just thought I should end with something more upbeat…Have a great day everyone!
  • Afternoon Goldie's. Too cold to venture forth up here in Ontario. I will stay in and maybe start a new painting. It will NOT be a still life of food. I am not a very good artist, self taught, but it does keep me distracted on frigid days and the mind off food!
Hope you are home safe and sound Marie.
    Anne
