I'm not sure yet since I think I would be mortally embarrassed to tell him.
He's 53, 350 lbs, and we're both pretty sure that he's pre-diabetic so I started doing it because I was worried when he wouldn't go to the doctor. I've been making heart-healthy and diabetes-friendly recipes for months+ making sure he's eating enough fruits/veggies, but I worry he'd feel that I was overstepping my bounds by actually monitoring his calorie intake.
If you are making his food and actually handing it to him there is no need to tell him this. I assume that he can get his own food if he wished and that you don't comment about those choices if he so chooses.1 -

It helps that my dad is pretty oblivious. He only realized two weeks ago that I'm the person who's been washing/ironing his clothes and cleaning his bathroom for the past 3 years.I agree. Smart approach! Let him think he accomplished it. He may subconsciously start to make better choices as he gets used to better choices, foods and smaller portions.
That seems to be the case so far.
In the past 3 months, he's replaced chips with apple slices (he likes the crunch and that they're easy on his teeth), has started splitting his to-go orders with me (the other day, a tray of nachos he usually eats by himself was too much for him and he gave me half), and has gone from over a 100 ounces of soda a day to a 32 oz from McD's on his way home (he said that soda fills him up too much and he'd rather have whatever meal I've prepped when he gets off work)
I'm really proud of him because he's definitely making healthier decisions! I'm just giving him a nudge here and there to try and help.
That is an incredible effort!1 -

Yeah, it seems like the conversation would be awkward if we ever had it. I definitely don't comment on his food choices. If he wants a McRib or a 2 liter of Pepsi, I tell him okay and might consider adding an extra vegetable or some salad to the next meal since those things aren't very nutritious, but I'd never tell him what he can or can't eat.1 -

One of the men in my office came into work desperately sick yesterday. Stupid. I said the same thing...don't you dare make me sick! Stay home! In today's world of telecommuting there is no reason to come in.0 -
TWELVE DAYS TIL CHRISTMAS, PEOPLE!!!
I just realized I have tomorrow off. I'm going to the dentist for a crown in the morning. I'm hoping I'll feel good enough afterwards that I can finish off my last minute Christmas shopping - stocking stuffers, ingredients for fudge, and something to take to the office Christmas potluck.7 -

He really should see a DR.....does he exercise? You should try and talk him into seeing someone, in case things are not working properly from struggling, his kidneys and such should at least be checked out.1 -

This is my thoughts exactly! Especially since they all work in mortgages, you can do that stuff from home unless you have a meeting with clients (there was no meetings) so now I'm in the office with a scratchy throat and don't have the luxury of working from home. HMPH!0 -

Obviously, HIPAA laws make working from home a non-starter in my job. They would go broke buying us all secure laptops. And yet they have these draconian attendance rules so that people come to work sick. (It's a whole point if you stay home and a third of one point if you leave early.) Working in a hospital, we get exposed to everything anyway, but I want to bleach my desk everyday.2 -

I think they think they are manly if the show up. But then they just make the rest of us miserable.0 -
Christmas gift shopping nearly done. So are cards. I ran out of cards this year, need to buy some more!

I saw you finished your holiday shopping on the feeds! I'm pretty much done with shopping for everyone & wrapped last Saturday when I was off. Now I just need to figure out what games to pick for Christmas (checking into some silly Minute To Win It inspired Christmas games) & maybe some more ideas on food to serve.
We're having our holiday potluck on Friday & I told another coworker that we could buy ice cream for the party since management was buying pies.0 -

Same with Walmart. New hires only get four points (they might have to be there 90 days or longer to make it the full nine) & if they go over that then they get fired. If you're late it's 1/2 point (you can be late up to nine minutes). A no call/no show will give you an automatic four points.0 -
I always make something special for Christmas morning breakfast. I can't decide what to make this year. Anyone have any ideas?0
-
I confess I have lost all desire to log my food. I have been attempting to get back into the habit. If I complete today, it will be the first full day in at least two months.3

Congratulations on trying to get back in the habit! I've been having issues logging lately too. It either seems like a lot of effort or I end up eating things other than what I've planned out. But I think that's pretty normal. You've got this!quiksylver296 wrote: »I always make something special for Christmas morning breakfast. I can't decide what to make this year. Anyone have any ideas?
I'm personally leaning toward either some kind of quiche or a breakfast skillet with sausage and peppers. Those aren't really special, but they're things I don't usually have an excuse to make.0 -

You can do it, @crosbylee! Good to see you!!!1 -
Thanks @quiksylver296 and @LenGray. I need to look this thing in the face so I can fix it. I haven't been ready to face just how much I have been eating, but time to suck it up!0

I decided on Blueberry Lemon Cream Cheese coffee cake.4 -
I am considering a gluten free French Toast bake for Christmas breakfast.3

I almost bought vegan icecream at walmart on Tuesday but resisted as I knew the pint wouldn't last the night in spite of the "4 servings" calorie count.1

I haven't tried any vegan ice cream. I'm scared to. Portion control and self will with food isn't a strong point. I do NOT need to start thinking about yummy ice cream. But I LOVE the name of those bars. So cute! I see that Talenti ice cream you guys used to talk about everywhere now.0
