Are those shoes "squat" shoes? I ask because I've been looking at some other videos (Ed Coan and a few others) and it looks like they're wearing squat shoes. I go minimal, but I was wondering how my squat shoes would feel. Of course, as I type this, I realize that today - since it's my deadlift deload day - would have been a good day to see how it felt.

^Pretty sure they are deadlift shoes, minimal heel and sole.
You don't want to deadlift in squat shoes do to the elevated heel.

I think those are Sabos, which are a pricy deadlift shoes. People like to squat in them too but peeps be different.

I don't think they're Sabos, at least my Sabos have all had black straps.

Unless they make a red and black dead lifting shoe ?

They do make both squat and dead lift shoes and I think they are both great.

They're Sabo "Goodlifts", which are their newer flats... I broke my Sabo "Deadlifts" at the strap and stitching. These feel not quite as thin in comparison (although still minimalist), and they're made of leather. Cost me like $130...

I have the Sabo "Powerlifts", which are heeled, and use them for Squats currently...

I may try a cycle squatting from the Goodlifts soon though.

It's totally fine! I was just making a guess since they are the only deadlift shoes I know of with straps. And I thought I saw people wearing red ones at meets so I guess those are the new Goodlifts then!

I have the OG Sabo deadlifts I use for squats and deads #liftinghipster, but I think they have red+black and blue+black available in the deadlift shoe as well now.

There's also the metal powerlifting shoe that's been around for quite a while:

    It's been an awesome week.

And then today. Moved 87.5 the smoothest I ever have, 90 was good as well and I hit a brick wall at 92.5. Off day and I'll crush it next week.

Tomorrow sees me squat my last opener for a 5x5. When I nail it it's a good sign that my opener is moving up. Also means that I'll be 46 days out from three lift at nationals with no clue where I'm opening for squats and deadlifts. Meh.

Love it that you jumped up mad on the 2nd lift, just like a true lifter.

@nakedraygun just wanted to say good luck at your meet this weekend. I think John Haack is going to be there (not competing though, I don't think).
