Charlie is sick again. He hasn't felt well at all today, got up feeling that way. He felt better the day he was discharged than he has felt today. He ate a little bit of lunch but no supper. He has a temp of 101.1. Our instructions are not to call unless it is 101.5. Gave him two Lortab so I hope that will help the temp and the pain. I;m glad we have an appointment with out PCP tomorrow. We don't see the surgeon until next Monday. We are ready for all this to be over.

    Joyce, Indiana

:'(Joyce, I am so sorry to hear this....it's time for you and Charlie to have some peace...good that you are seeing the doctor tomorrow

Did 10 minutes of yoga today, held my plank for 2 min 50 sec, then the extremepump class. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Tracie Long Staying Power DVD.

Joyce - I remember back when we had a cat that was diabetic. Originally, we took the used needles to our vet to dispose of. She told us to just cut off the needle, put that in a jar and dispose of the rest of the syringe. No one can use it since the needle part is so blunt. Well, one time someone went thru our garbage. I'm sure they were looking for used needles. they must have been really surprised to find that they couldn't use any of the needles! We never again had a problem with someone going thru our garbage.....lol

Supposed to be hot this week. Well, I can't work on the weeds today or tomorrw, MAYBE a little bit Wed, not sure. Have a Newcomer Board Meeting so probably can't Can do some on Thur and Fri, tho. Not Sat since we're supposed to Skype with Denise and then I am a Eucharistic Minister at the church at night. Maybe Sun if I still need to. I probably will since I know that I poop out easier in the hot weather. But my reward for my sweat and work is to go in the pool. Update: not Thursday, there's shooting and earlier in the morning we skype with Bryan.

Traci in WI - of course we don't mind you sharing!

Mary from MN - I tried using the kettlebell this morning. To be honest, I really didn't see much difference between using a kettlebell and doing a deadlift with the weighted bar. In both you use your hamstrings and abs to get up. I did try to do a squat lower. As you suggested, I didn't use any weights. The lowest I seemed to be able to go was 90 degrees.

katla - I don't think you're the only horselover in this group. As I recall, cheryl is a horselover, and I think Sue in WA is, too.

Rita - I don't think I've ever seen a "2 private message" on MFP but thanks for clueing me in in case I ever do.

KJ - that's so interesting that you feel stress in your knees when riding a bike, but not running.

Margaret - beautiful flowers, mat and platter! What an interesting use of a platter, never thought of that.

Becca - to me, the absolute worst part of a water aerobics class is having to walk in front of a mirror in your bathingsuit. Well, that probably doesn't bother you....lol I love the feeling of the resistance of the water on my body. Only then it reminds me how much flab I have! But I do enjoy the classes. I'm not real big on weights in the water, I constantly worry that my shoulders aren't kept down enough. But I do enjoy cardio.

pip - what a wonderful thought to send the handkerchief. Do you have to have one of their "standard" handkerchiefs or can you use your own. If you do, just be sure that it's big enough.

    Rita - get better fast!

Meg - to give Benny the pills, check eBay for a pill shooter. The trick for you is to get the pill back far enough in his throat that the gag reflex takes over. That's what we use on Loki's capsules. I admit, he's not a fan of it. But it's over in two seconds. Hopefully, something like this will help. I know we got ours off eBay for something like $5 each.

barbie - I do hope they find the problem.

DJ - I'm so sorry about your friend

Joyce - hope Charlie gets better real fast.

Well, a guy is coming here tomorrow to look at our dryer. We think it might be the control panel. Then I want to go to Hamricks and return some shoes I bought then we need to go to Aldi's.

Morning everyone. Please send strength and peace my way today. So far the day has been very challenging and I am repeating over and over again that I can't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. I am pulling out every resource I have to stay in the "now" and accept that I am doing the best I can. Won't bore you with the details but I would appreciate you sharing strength my way! NYKAREN

:)Karen, I've been thinking about you all day and sending peaceful thoughts your way....one great thing about this thread is that you don't have to tell details of what's going on with you, just reach out and we send our loving thoughts to you

Joyce- praying for Charlie to get on the road to recovery! (((hugs))) for the both of you.

Michele - the DL is excellent for those areas. If you are doing SL 5X5 then the Kettlebell swings and other exercises will help to work those and other muscles and have been noted to help increase the weight capacity of the DL and other major lifts. It can even be done alone without SL to give your body a total strength and cardio workout.

NYKaren - I hope all is well with you! Sending strength and peace your way. (((Hugs)))

Joyce, My thoughts are with you and Charlie.

Mary can probably explain this better than I can, but I'll try...kettle bell swings are plyometric and increase your muscles' power and strength, whereas the dead lifts increase strength. When you do the swings there's speed and power involved in the hip movement that carries the kettle bell up (somebody here said her arms "floated up" which is a result of the hips' power being used to generate momentum). It wasn't until I started using a kettle bell that I understood how both power and strength are used together.

That being said, if kettle bells aren't your cup of tea, there are so many exercises to choose from...

    morning ladies~
I am sitting having a cup of tea... yesterday was a bear.. packed with patients... tomorrow will be better as there will be no Dr so I will be working up front I think.. they are trying to get the girl they hired up front to quit.... they aren't happy with her performance, but dont wan't to fire her because she is the type that could make it miserable..
I am stuck between a rock and a hard place because I have been friends with her since grade school.
My brother really wants me to go up to the cottage this weekend,,,, I will see... the beach is my happy place and I love it there... so maybe I will bite the bullet and take myself up there with my dogs..

Struggling with fatigue - was so bad last night that I left an hour into the school board meeting. I had most of the interesting stuff down anyway, and enough pictures of talking heads to last a lifetime... and after an hour they were only through one agenda item, with ten to go. Not sure I have that much life left!

I know y'all think I'm kind of a whirlwind anyway--but since I had the gastric bypass, I've always had energy to burn--taking more than 160 pounds off the outside of your body, while still having the infrastructure intact that supported that massive amount of weight can affect you like that. But, I was occasionally anemic when I was heavy, and I remember this feeling of being tired to the bone--had it when I came down with pneumonia, as well, which I don't think I have at the moment.

So, I started back on Slow FE iron supplements last night, which is s'posed to have fewer gastric side effects, and will take it for a few days to see if it helps. May also be struggling with a low-level sinus infection, but with no health insurance until next week, that will simply have to run its course.

Joyce, am thinking about you and Charlie, my dear. I know that my fatigue is nothing compared with how tired the both of you are of dealing with health issues. You're in my heart, and in all our hearts.

    Love y'all,
    Lisa in West Texas

    Good morning Ladies!

I've managed to keep up with all of you, but on the weeks that I am on call, which is every other, I'm too busy to post.

Had a wonderful birthday weekend at the Cape. It almost didn't happen because my car developed more issues. DMS came to the rescue again, arranged to have it towed to the mechanic and handed me the keys to his Prorche which I have been happily driving ever since. My car is supposed to be worked on this weekend but I'm in no rush since the mechanic is a good friend of DMS's and doing it as a favor to him at a most reasonable cost for such a major repair.

I'm going to my first water aerobics class tonight. A friend of mine began going and suggested I join her. I'm not much of a pool person and never considered such a class but maybe this will appeal to me and I can find a way to fit it into my schedule.

Say a prayer that the new person they hired at work will take some of those on call hours. I really would like to get some of my personal life back.

Mary, thanks for the suggestion of the kettle bell timer app, I find it very useful and I've been swinging regularly for a couple of weeks now. I was able to wear a skirt yesterday that I haven fit into for months. Had to work off all those birthday cakes and then some.

Re, welcome to New England! I love Marshall's, great for finding stylish bargains for clothes and housewares. Maybe us New Englanders can plan a meet up sometime? How about it Allie, Glo on the North shore and Mindy if you're reading this?

Joyce, So sorry to hear Charlie is not well again. I certainly hope he is on the mend soon.

Not enough time of memory to respond to all of you, but you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Take care and have a wonderful day.

Good morning, all! Happy Tuesday! My little early bird arrival's mama got a new job, so early bird is not so early and also not here every morning. Which gives me time to swim or walk in the morning, alone. So that is what I did this morning. Walked the two miles down to the pool and swam laps for 30 minutes and walked the two miles home. Much easier in the morning now that the temps have cooled again.
Re:You are not the Puffy Princess! You are an amazing source of inspiration! You got this and we are beginning a new week! Here are my stats for this week. I was up four pounds last week, but I stuck with it and am down a pound this week! Yeah! I think if I get my carbs under control, I could make this easier on myself!

    STARTING WEIGHT: 205
    CURRENT WEIGHT: 208
TOTAL LBS LOST OR GAINED (THIS WEEK): -1
TOTAL LBS LOST OR GAINED (ALL WEEKS): +3
    GOAL WEIGHT: 180
TOTAL LBS AWAY FROM GOAL: 28

Joyce- So sorry to hear about Charlie! Hope he is feeling better soon and getting some relief! Glad you are already scheduled to see a doctor. Waiting to see the doctor seems to make it all harder. Love and hugs to you
NYKaren - Sending prayers for strength and peace for you my friend.
Lisa- You are so busy all of the time! Glad you know about the iron deficiency and are able to control/get what you need! Hope you are feeling on top of things soon!
Chris in MA- What a good son you have! To mom's rescue with a "substitute" car to use, so that you don't have to cancel your plans on the cape!
Allie- I think you need to put everything/everyone else on the back burner and take your brother up on his cottage offer! You need some time for you!
Glo-Love the garden shed and flowers! So cute! I think I could vacation there!
DJ- So sorry to hear about your friend! Love and hugs to you. <3
Barbie- I hope the docs can figure out the problem with your legs/back/nerves. Good that you are not in pain when you are moving; but you can't always move! Hope you find some relief soon!

Sending love and hugs to any that need them and that I forgot to mention. <3

    Hi all!
I'm back from yoga and the "party" for the 80 year old. I did have a piece of cake, but only had 125 calories for lunch, so not a complete disaster.I will do some kettlebell swings this afternoon to earn some more calories.

Here is a pic of me and the birthday girl at yoga. Sorry it's a bit dark

    zyxs4u0art1a.jpg

She is incredible for her age, with a mother of 103.

Joyce - I hope your consultation with the medic is reassuring. I'm sure you want this to turn a corner. :flowerforyou:

I had a look at the Duolingo German this morning. They reckon I'm 2% fluent in German.

DH out this afternoon at one day cricket. I will watch an Italian film.

    Good morning everyone!

We had a wonderful weekend visiting my parents, brother (and family) and sister in Indiana. If I was in shock that my husband went on this visit with me I almost fainted when he allowed my mother to hug him on the driveway as we were leaving! He said she thanked him for bringing me home to visit and it was good seeing him. Our son drove down from Chicago for a long day visit which made his grandparents so very happy. I truly am blessed.

    uymjb5mmvvbd.jpg
My sister Debbie and myself. We share a birthday, January 17th, just one year apart. Her in 1960 and myself in 1959!

I will read through the thread later today but I hope all is well with y'all!

Hubs just left to take the Honda CR-V in for a big check-up and will return with a loaner car for about 4 hours. We will discuss the plan for the day at that point. In the meantime I can sit for a bit and enjoy a cup of coffee. We are in the home stretch here as a week from Thursday the moving van shows up.

We have had several showings on the house since lowering the price. Had an offer but it was ridiculously low that nothing came of it. Why realtors show their clients homes they clearly cannot afford is beyond me. Looks like we will be leaving the area without a contract. Not the worst situation but it would have been nice.

You are in my thoughts and prayers!

@cityjaneLondon I've been looking at Amazon, the Lindens beetroot comes from Yorkshire. LoL...3500mg , 50 caplets are a whopping $10.19. I will have to look for another brand. Looks like there are a few others that might be good.

Glo ~ Love the picture of your little house with the beautiful flowers.

NY Karen ~ Good thoughts for you and bless you for helping your OS. The bath looks wonderful.

Cherie ~ Great picture of you and your sis. You two could be twins. It was nice that your DH was able to visit with your parents too!

Heather ~ Your 80 yr old friend looks so fit and lovely.

Barbie ~ I am so sorry about your leg pain. I hope the docs can come up with a plan that will help.

Joyce ~ We are all thinking of you and Charlie.

We kept the 4 & 6 yr old yesterday. They have so much energy. Took them to North Point Mall in Roswell where they had a blast riding the merry-go-round, eating at Chic Filet, and shopping for new outfits at Penny's. The 4 yr old girl kept disappearing and I had to talk to her about that. At my house they loved riding a skate board and skooter down the side road beside my house. The boy loves to play games on the computer and the girl colors pictures that I print off the computer. I certainly know why children are for the young! LOL
