Part 1, yes, building muscle requires energy
I've heard different takes on this and it may be different from person to person. But bodybuilders or some fitness people "bulk" to gain that muscle...then "cut" to get rid of fat so you can see muscle...sooo🤷♀️
What I've noticed for me is that as long as I'm in a calorie deficit with high enough protein I can lose and build muscle...may just be at a slower rate than a person who works on just 1 area.

I would seriously perform oral on anyone really good at it that can work out these damn knots7 -

Yeah, it shows me the amount of water I’m retaining. The amount of fat I gained. The amount of muscle I’ve gained. I’ve never gained in this last year+ I’ve been working on it. On a positive I’ve gained a little under 2lbs of muscle in the last month and a half or something like that.0 -

Water weight is a funny thing... Like I could literally drink 10lbs of water right now, gain 10lbs from it and reduce my body fat%, relative to my total weight...
The best method I've found is measuring 🤷🏽♂️...
