Thank you for sharring this.. I am looking for a good DB workout!
You're welcome. I also use the kettlebell occasionally, mostly when doing squats. If some of the exercises are too strenuous for you, just don't do them. I do squats with no problem, but I've had both knees replaced and lunges hurt my knees. I also bought a cheap little thing from Amazon called Wonder Core and I use it to do crunches. I don't know if that would work if you have back problems. The thing with any exercise routine is to find what works for you and what can stick with. Good luck.

I think it is a matter of just starting something. I tried another weight training program yesterday.. first time in many months doing anthing with weights. I used a DB, weight machine and a kettlebell. It must of been too light on the lbs. I am not sore at all today. I know its important to increase reps, sets or weight as you go. I think your right, find out what works for you and stick with it!e Never heard of Wonder Core. Does it do wonders?
* I looked on Amazon .. Wonder Core has some good ratings!
THe Wonder Core for sure makes my abs sore lol and I think my stomach is the flatest it's been in years. You can use it for other exercise but I only use it for crunches.

That's good you know it's working, but I am sure it's your hard work that has given you the terriffic results. Kudos!2 -

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening My Dear Friends,
Yvonne, I’m with you on mosquitoes. Grrrrrrrrrr The tie-dye party sounds like fun. Tell us a little more about it. Also I’d love a picture of some of your creations.
Lanette, I still use hard boiled eggs in my tuna and/or chicken salad. DH likes dill pickles in his but if I used pickles it would be sweet pickle relish. I just leave it out now. (Later) Wow, I love your lithadora. I wonder if that would grow around here?
Toni, so glad your kids are including you in activities. (((Hugs)))
Beth, that is too funny about the dog bowl being used at the wedding reception.
Heather, so glad to hear you are writing a bit. I figure that once you get started things will start rolling again.
Kay, congrats for smaller boobs. Rof
Joyce, your kiki is so cute. How old is he? I’m sure you told us but I don’t remember.
Rori, have a ball with the kids visit.
Lanette, do you think that a big mouse ate the trap and left the peanut butter????
Cheri, way to go. Keep it up!!!
Sara, welcome. You can join us any day of the month. This is a great place for support and information so come often.
Sue, I hope things work out with your medication changes.
It rained again today but I managed to dodge it going to the doctor’s office for bloodwork and then shopping. I got some new pj’s so I won’t be embarrassed when I go to the international Moose convention next month. Mine were getting a bit ratty. I also got some Sketcher’s wedge heel sandals that I hadn’t planned on buying. *The devil made me do it*
to all the Newbies. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
Congrats on all the victories, large and small and (Hugs) to those who need or want one.
Sending love, good thoughts and sunshine to all of you.
I Love you

Michele in NC -Denise just told me that her cake is going to cost $300 and she was asking me if that was a lot. I honestly don't know but suggested she ask Jess who can ask her friend. If it's not...wow...is that how much I saved Laura by making her cake???
About 10 (15?) years ago I made the wedding cakes for three of my friends. At that time I was told wedding cakes were about $1.50 per serving so the cake I made to serve 200 people would have cost the bride about $300. I decided that the cake was my wedding gift.
I just looked up cake pricing now.
One site states: " Buttercream average starting price is $3 per guest
Fondant average starting price is $4 per guest
Delivery and set up charge is usually $50
Delivered wedding cakes start at a minimum $350. Our average wedding cake price in 2015 was $544; with prices ranging from $300 to $920."
So how many people is Denise planning for?
Mia in MI2 -
Cheri - OH MY WORD you have this walking down!! Fitbit should hire you to be their spokesperson! Way to go! I like the idea of "earning" computer use or something else by getting steps in. Food for thought here...
Toni - a night out with the kids sounds like Heaven...hope you had a great time! Interesting about April 29th... next April 29 I'll light candles for you and send you good vibes. You'll have to remind me tho!
Sarah in Ontario - I quit growing corn because of the raccoons too. I remember it was just a day away from being ripe enough to pick...danged if the next day it looked like a herd of cattle had raged through it. I don't know if people have big barking dogs or what the trick is... other than the $.25 cent solution if someone wants to stay up at night with the .22 . They are cute but NOT my favorite critters because they are chicken killers too.
Dana - have fun packing for the trip to Cheyenne - hope your visit goes well. That darn DVT - glad you can go without that compression stocking. Man that seems tight to leave a deep red crease like that. Sounds like a tourniquet. Maybe just tell the flight attendant you need to sit up with the pilot for medical reasons and keep your leg elevated - prop it up on the co-pilot or something. Just don't bump the flux capacitor or whatever do-hickey it is that keeps airplanes aloft.
Joyce, I don't remember any blue lithadora as a bedding plant when I lived in Indiana. I think doesn't like super cold winters... we did lose some but most of it did quite well. I do remember that very fragrant pansies grew like weeds all over my Grandma's place...maybe they were just there to bask in her sweetness, and reciprocated.
DJ - Lithadora might like your climate! You might check with a local nursery. I had never seen it before we moved into this place. We have a lot of "red" maples as well. Here's Japanese one that is doing well this year it has a naturally round habit and looks like 'Cousin It'... it's right outside the garage, maybe I should look under it for the missing mouse trap.
Pip - Is a burpee a "squat-thrust"?? Sounds like boot camp -- no wonder we could hire you to kick TUSH!! I'm sure you'll find a way to keep up your activity in sunny CA when you visit your mom.
Katla, hope DH's doctor appointment went well and your Costco stop was successful. I always liked their meat section...the bakery was delish as well. I let our membership expire as we didn't buy there enough to make it worthwhile...but miss it sometimes. Bet your pupster looks and smells great! Also, love that saying about perfectionism being the enemy of the realistic, the possible, and the fun. I could have used that in large sign my last few years at work. But now is as good a time as any!
NYKaren - I was speaking to a gal at work this morning who recently had back surgery...she broke out in hives which took forever to clear up...turns out she is allergic to silver that was in the bandages/steristrips they used on the incision. She was and still is on major benedryl - had no idea of the allergy. So, a person never knows what will make skin break out. Yours doesn't sound like hives but I'm sure is very irritating nonetheless. Hope your tummy is feeling better.

Did 1 hr on the stairstepper. We have a Newcomer board meeting tomorrow so the plan is to do a Denise Austin Boot Camp DVD
Got my dress for Denise's wedding in the mail today. The one thing that I'm not crazy about is that it's a little snug in the abdomen. I called David's Bridal and they said I could exchange it, but the only size larger is a 14 that they said and the difference between a 10 and a 14 is 3 inches. To me, that's a lot. The gal suggested I try some spanx. She said "I'd hate to have you spend $200 for alterations". Little does she know that the gal who does my alterations wouldn't charge anywhere near that amount of money. I just have to find shoes.
After exercise stopped at the Salvation Army, found a pair of shoes that looked brand new to me. They are a size 9 and I usually take an 8-1/2, but for $3 I bought them and we'll see how it goes. If the worst comes to worst, I can always redonate them. Then went to Big Lots. We got this solar cat there a few years ago and I know I've seen them since then. Only this year they are carrying a dog and not a cat. I couldn't find it anywhere. One of the eyes on ours isn't lighting up. Then went to WalMart to get shirataki and a few other things. They don't carry poultry seasoning! Guess I'll just have to look in other stores for it. Then went to PetSmart and got dry and moist food for the cats
katla - I seem to remember Re saying that she can no longer post from work so that's why we probably haven't seen her. I miss her, too. Hope your eyes get better
Lanette - hope you find the mouse soon. One time our first cat brought a rabbit into the house, it died behind the buffet. For the longest time I smelled this horrible smell and couldn't get rid of it. Tried candles, spray, everything. Finally for whatever reason Vince moved the buffet and we found it. Gross. Hope you find that mouse
Joyce - our first cat was a stray. To say he looked pathetic (in a bad way) is an understatement. Talk about matted, terrible coat, everything. However, once we took him in, took him to the vet, gave him decent meals...you should have seen what a gorgeous cat he turned out to be. I'm pretty sure he was a purebred Maine Coon. I'm sure your kitten will turn out the exact way.
Sue WA - I love when I can get off any med at all.
DJ - why would you be embarrassed at the convention? Are you maybe sharing a room with a few other ladies?
mia - when I made the wedding cake, that was my wedding gift, too. Last time I talked to Denise the guest list was up to 75. Thanks so much for the pricing info. That was really handy. Seems that she's not getting a real bargain. Well, not my wedding, not my cake.

Right after the guy came and blew all the needles and branches off the roof, out of the gutters, and off the deck and walkways, the wind started so now there's more stuff on the ground and the roof. The wind caused a brief power outage. The dogs didn't like the wind so our afternoon and bedtime walks were very short.
Stats for today:
13,000 steps
160 minutes walking Sasha and Bess
225 minutes riding the exercise bike
15 minutes pulling weeds

Janet Thanks for the link for strength training. I have some 5 & 10 lb weights out in the garage.
Lanette I'll be sure to tell the flight attendant when I board to seat me in the cockpit!!
Maybe a cat took off with the mouse and the trap. Could it be outside? Or maybe it was a big rat and he just left town!
ToniTN I'm leaving for Cheyenne Thursday morning. I have to drive from Hot Springs to Little Rock about 1 hr., layover in Dallas, then in to Denver. Then driving to Cheyenne in a rental car, an hour. It will be a full day.
I plan to have fun with DD#1 and her family. I haven't seen her in 3 years. Just chatting and FaceTime. I don't know what she has planned. I hope not a lot of shopping!!
Although I may attend a funeral while I'm up there. My 3 kids' grandmother passed away this morning. (DD#1's grandma lived in Denver) She was almost 88 and a sweet darling woman. She loved our Lord and loved helping people. I think she raised half if her grandkids!
She had 6 kids and raised her sisters two after she was killed. She also had 6 patients who lived at their residence.
She was a busy woman and I can hear her laugh!! If she saw my sister, she would say "Here comes trouble!" She was right! I love her!
RIP Barbara Marie Banks
I'm sorry if I didn't reply to you all?
Someone asked about geodes. Yes! I have a few!

Having a hard day today - two young dads and their sons (Shane and 14 year old Dylan and Connor and 6 year old Liam) were in a boating accident yesterday and all lost their lives. The whole city is grieving. Such a shock. Shane was a successful business man and Connor worked for the local utilities company. Shane leaves behind his wife and one older son (about 18) and Connor leaves his wife and 4 year old daughter.
Plus my daughters friends were in a truck accident. The driver's wife and brother were both thrown from the truck. They were rushed to hospital by air ambulance, but the prognosis does not look good for either of them. Thank God the three children were buckled in the back seat and all escaped with minor injuries.
Hugs everyone. Take care.

Cheri: WTG on exercise. You were definitely moving more!
Sara: Welcome to a great group! Tell us about yourself.
Lanette: Doctor's appt went well. DH's MS is stable and hasn't worsened. YAY!!!! Thanks for asking. My DDIL and I share a Costco Account. It works out just fine for us, although I don't know whether she uses it since their move to the DC area. :flowerforyou:
Michele in NC: Thanks for your good wishes for my eyes. The left still aches constantly & I'm waiting for a new lens. It doesn't see as well as it should & causes headaches due to a mistake in the prescription. It is hard to wait for the new lens. The right eye is fine. :ohwelll:
Barbie: I'm sorry to hear that the wind blew a bunch of new needles and such back onto your roof right after you had it cleaned off. Not fair! :grumble:
Dana in AR: I'm sorry for the loss of your kid's grandmother. I hope you enjoy your trip to Cheyenne. :flowerforyou:
DH had a checkup with his MS doctor and he's doing well. He hasn't lost any mobility, flexibility or strength since his last visit. YAY!!!!!

Hi all,
I'm up early - couldn't stay asleep. We had a phone call yesterday from our real estate agent to say that the local buyers had upped their offer. That means we have two decent offers now. However, neither of them have sold their houses, or have offers, so it's not that much different from before. DH told her that he would give it some consideration if and when they sold their house. I wasn't party to the conversation, but I thought that sounded reasonable. Now I find myself getting very agitated again - hence the waking up early.
I was really enjoying the idea of staying here and doing small projects on the house. I've just had a large self watering pot delivered (which I wouldn't have bought) and my head was getting round enjoying Brighton as a regular visitor. I've told all my friends I'm staying put for now.
I think I'm going to have to tell DH that I really don't want to move at the moment. We will have to pay out a forfeit to the agent, but that's life. I'm not good with uncertainty and this has gone on long enough.
Sorry for moaning on, but it's good sometimes to think on the page. Love you guys.
Rabbit stew tonight. I bought some of those fabulous baby purple turnips to go with it. Reminds me of France.
I will have a low alcohol cider to go with it. I cook it in cider, but DH can have the remainder of the real cider.
Paula Y - So sad when tragedy comes so near to us. It does make me want to live my life to the full.
I went for my mammogram yesterday. DH drove me there - 30 minutes each way. :grumble: Of course they had lost my appointment so I said I wasn't coming back another time. They did fit me in. I am 10 years since my cancer diagnosis and feel a bit that I am on borrowed time. So far I have been clear, but the mammogram sets up anxiety. My friend got hers back after ten years.
All the more reason to love life and make the most of it.

I am taking my dad up to the cottage this weekend ,Sean Jean Faith and Buddy will be up there also.. so a nice weekend cold but nice, and the beach is a walk away...not going to drive up friday night as the traffic would be a nightmare, but leaving at 5 am , talked to dad yesterday and he said I dont care if you come get me at 3 am lol.. so I have a nice weekend to look forward to ..3 -
Morning, all,
The warehouse buyer candidate couldn't get any cooperation from the city for rezoning the place to combined commercial/residential, they told him they wouldn't even consider it, so that sale's off the table. We get around the zoning by living in a camper trailer out back, ostensibly as security for the warehouse, which we are, so it doesn't worry us. However, he wants to build a little place for his elderly mother, and I wouldn't want to put mine in a trailer, so can't blame him much. He's now looking outside the city limits for a similar place, but without restrictions. Oh well.
Our bid for the Big Giant House did get into the HUD system on time, thanks to extraordinary effort on the part of my real estate agent and the listing agent, but we have no idea (nor do they) when the decision will be made, or if the bid will be rejected. Not sweating it--we kind of win either way, so trying not to think about it. Not getting it would mean a whole lot less work and expense, for sure. As my husband noted, there's a fair chance the listing agent told all her friends they could get a lot of house cheap by outbidding us a tiny amount, and there were still 24 hours after they got our bid in to get other ones put through. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It is what it is.
Busy day ahead - meetings in town again, but I finally feel as if I have a good mental handle on all the current grants I'm working with. Unfortunately, more than a half dozen need final reports written in June, so June will be busy for me. Luckily, most aren't presented in person, but I'll be doing a lot of research to find out how previous ones have been written.
I finally got myself to work out on Monday. It's a minor triumph, in the middle of gearing into a new job. Oddly enough, the cases of Girl Scout cookies are helpful with keeping me from buying any sweet junk food, as I tell myself they're there when I'm out shopping. Easy to ignore them while I'm home. Speaking of which, I need to put a few of those in a bag to take with me to donor meetings today.
Love y'all,
Off to the races again

Lisa and Heather I have spent so so many years in the real estate merry go round, the ups and downs and waiting---ugh!
Allie. You are keeping those ducks quacking all in neat little rows!
Katla thanks for the thoughts, I don't like feeling like I'm whining every day but......still itchy, but tummy getting back to normal. One week gluten free and what to show for it? My joints hurt less, especially my wrists so hooray!! I will see how one more week goes adding no dairy and no eggs to list of restricted food. Logging on mfp has given me plenty of practice in tracking and planning choices . I did have Hives recently after a round of antibiotics, but don't know if it's related. I will have to see a doctor in a few more weeks promise

Cleaner didn't turn up this morning. After an hour I rang the company and they had texted my HOME phone at 8 am to say she was sick. Duh! They have just brought round a substitute who is busying herself right now. I will send her into the living room after lunch, because we usually eat lunch in there, watching daytime tv. (ooh the shame. )
I didn't quite waste the morning, though I didn't get any writing done, as I transferred some photos to my laptop, put them the right way up and printed out a savings interest summary for my tax. I don't actually pay tax as I don't have enough income, but I do have to make an annual return. I hate it these days that they don't send printed statements. With my rubbish, steam age laptop and sloooow printer it takes ages to do a simple print out. I usually ask for printed copies by snail mail from everyone.
This afternoon I am making rabbit stew and transplanting the fuchsia. Also opening the package with the self watering pot in it. When it's all filled with lovely plants I will post a pic.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx

Speaking of wedding cakes, I recently spent some time drooling over Maggie Austin's works of art.
Here in the Washington Post
and here her book on Amazon
Some of those babies go for 10,000 USD! I can't imagine spending that much time or money on a mere cake, but they sure are pretty!

Penny, Wow the cakes are works of art, they are gorgeous. I'd hate to cut into any of them. I watch some of the baking shows on TV and they blow me away. I'm so untalented, I bake bundt cakes so I don't have to put icing on them. Actually I do very little baking any more. Love the pictures.
