Allie, I'm so sorry to hear about your DFIL and BIL. I hope they can get what they need to be better. ((HUGS))0 -
Good morning everyone! I have started my eggs and bacon fast with my husband. With my bulk I gained 8.6 pounds over my maintenance weight. Since Friday I have lost 3.6 pounds. Since this is a low calorie keto diet that we are on I have probably just burned through my glycogen stores. My husband has lost 4 pounds.

Meg- i'm so sorry to hear that. We went through a very similar situation with my DH'S DD. That is very hurtful and will pray for peace and comfort for you and your family.
Rye- cutest teddy bear ever! You have a fantastic DH!
Carol- i'm so sorry that you are dealing with shingles. Prayers and hugs to you for a quick healing and relief from the burning pain.

Heather, that Chinese Chicken with Black Beans sounds good. Could I get the recipe?
Rye, I remember when my mom was a nurse in a nursing home, they use to give the old folks teddy bears. They were a comfort. I love them. and yes, you have a keeper.
Meg, sorry to hear you are going through a stressful time. Remember what goes away can come back. I hope your DD#1 realizes what she is missing by not being in contact with you. Just keep going forward and hope she catches up. ((HUGS))
Deaconfran, welcome! We are a chatty group and I think you will find this group full of ideas, support and encouragement. Tell us what do you want to be called and just jump in with a post whenever the mood strikes you.
Terry in VT smelling a lot a food around me today which I've resisted so far. I feel like my skin is crawling just thinking about all the smells. I did eat lunch, but still feel I could eat a house. Must be because it is cold here today. I always want to eat more when it's cold.

Good morning all! Didn't make it into the pool this morning. I just couldn't get my lazy bones out of bed. Maybe the time change has caught up to me? Tonight I go to sleep in my swimsuit!
Ha! I do this, or have been known to do this. I didn't do it this morning and was cursing under my breath because I was trying to find my swimsuit in the dark! But I have worn a full workout suit, including jogging bra, to bed so that when I wake up, all I have to do is potty, brush my teeth, get my shoes on, and get out the door. I especially do this on race days (when I used to race), so that I didn't waste any time getting ready. I can eat up a lot of time just wandering from room to room, aimlessly. I don't know why that happens in the morning.
Speaking of swimming, I swam for 25 minutes this morning, half a mile, alternating 100 yards breast, 100 yards free-style. It felt so good. My 17 year old was lecturing me last night about lifting too often. He lifts three days a week, and I guess I thought it was okay for me to do it more often because I'm not doing it for as long as he does, nor at the weights/reps he does. But he was really scolding me. So this morning, I had planned to go to group power -- an hour of weight lifting class -- and decided to listen to him and went swimming instead. Something about the water is so soothing to my joints and muscles. I really did feel better. When he came down for breakfast, I told him that I had taken his advice and opted for swimming instead of lifting at 5:15. He was proud of me. It's the little things with teenagers!
It has been fun, however, because his PE class this semester is weight lifting, so we've been comparing techniques and workouts. He's always excited to show me a new move they've learned.
Down .6 pounds this morning. It's taken nearly three weeks to get that half a pound, but I'll take it. I'm giving myself a year to lose the final 10 pounds, so this pace is about right. Below 130 this morning for the first time in years, maybe seven years. I was 125 when I got pregnant with my 17 year old, so that's how long it's been since I've been that weight!
Glad you made it Lisa!
In travel news for me, my husband and I are going to Tel Aviv over Thanksgiving. His work is sending him, so I decided to tag along. I only feel a little guilty for abandoning my children over the holiday. We'll be there for eight days. I'm planning to spend a lot of time at the beach. My husband was teasing me about it last night. It's true, when I first met him, I told him I wanted to visit the Mediterranean. He's fulfilling that dream. I responded, "Well, I was thinking Greece, but I guess Israel will do!"
Take care!

Terry - this is the recipe. The main problem is getting the fermented, salted black beans. My DSIL used ordinary black beans and was surprised when they were crunchy!
I bought mine in a Chinese supermarket, but you can get them on Amazon.

It's originally a Ken Hom recipe. It reheats really well, so you can make it ahead.I use skinless, boneless chicken thighs which I think are much nicer than breasts.

Felicia - congratulations on your weight loss! Very hard to lose the last 10 pounds. Concerning your son and his advice to you to not use weights every day it depens on what type of weightlifting you do as to whether you should do it daily or every other day. If you were doing compound lifts and hitting every muscle group on the same day which would be a total body weight lifting routine then every other day is appropriate for your muscles to heal. However, if you are hitting different muscle groups on different days you can weight lift every day. According to the man that I follow for the kettle bell he states that you can swing the kettle bell every day of your life unless you are too tired for that day.2

Happy Tuesday.
Janetr--Thanks you are such a good friend
Meg--So sorry to hear about DD#1 since the baby has been born. Sending hugs and prayers.
Had some snow flurries on the way to work this morning and only to be the 30s today. Winter is here and I am still trying to figure out where Fall went.

Good to know. Yes, I've been doing compound lifting.

Yvonne- I didn't have a Teddy Bear. I had dolls. BUT, my daughter had/has a Teddy. He is Teddy Angel, named for the angel pin that Grandma pinned on it when DD was recovering from having her tonsils out. He has been to France, Switzerland, Spain, England, Mexico and all over the US and now lives with his new friend Joaquin. Here is a picture of Teddy Angel, that I took, when I was helping DD pack up her room after her wedding for her move to TX. This is the "thing" that made me cry a river.
We have had a busy election day at daycare. We have voted for everything. Voted for which fruits and veggies to have with meals, voted which music to listen to, which puzzles to put together, which songs to sing, books to read...They wanted to vote on taking nap, but I told them that was already a law and can't be voted on.We also read some owl stories and sang a couple of owl songs. Then we made these lovelies for their snack. Hoot Owl Cookies. Super easy. Recipe on Allrecipes.com
Love and hugs to you all! xoxoxo ttfn KJ

Mary - There is one post in October from someone whose user name started with Nichole...; asking about people who have had/have Lyme's Disease. I told her to look for the link to bring her to this month; and then look down for your user name and name ... that you had recently moved to Arizona and you would be more than happy to answer her questions. She is new to MFP, too.

Meg: It is great to see you posting, but I'm sorry the news from home is not the best. Getting diabetes back under control is very important. I'm glad you're going for it. (((HUGS)))
Fran: Welcome to a great group!
I just got home from taking all of our sample paints and empty cans to the recycle center. We included the leftover paint from when we bought this place 20 years ago. I have touch-up paint tucked under the water heater and now have a whole vacant shelf in the garage. In my experience, a vacant shelf attracts an influx of "stuff." There are a whole bunch of quotations on this topic on the web, citing Aristotle or Parmenides: Nature abhors a vacuum. According to the laws of nature and physics, empty or unfilled spaces are unnatural. I keep wondering what will be attracted to that shelf.

Oh my sandwich was heaven!
3 turkey deli slices
2 slices of 12 grain bread
Spinach
Cucumbers
Pickles
Mayo
Mustard
Totals were calories 350, fats 13 g, proteins 15 g.
I have beans going for soup tonight. I bought some organic candy corn today 70 calories a package. Being that's its organic the pieces are more brown then normal, but they still taste the same!
Today was senior day at my grocery store, yet they ( the cashier), rang us up so quickly, we didn't even get a chance to tell her. They aren't allowed to ask us. That was the only reason why we were shopping today. So I waited in the customer service line for my savings of $2.59. Sheesh!

Kelly you crack me up! Yes, naps are already laws, no one must break or change that one! Funny, my students voted on some songs to perform today, they loved doing it!
Feels like it could snow here, really first cold day we've had, but no no snow yet. NYKAREN4 -

yummy! This WOE certainly feels like I'm cheating!

Amazon Fire Tablet HD 10 ~ I got this about a week ago and everything was doing fine. Today, it wouldn't connect to my WiFi provider (x-finity Comcast). I just set it back to the factory settings and will start all over. Ugh!4
