Yvonne in TX I sure hope you are right about the allergy changes! Here’s hoping!!
Happy International Women’s Day. I found a website called SheKnows that is for women and gave me the meanin of my name:
Spanish means Pearl
American means Pearl
Persian means Child of Light
Greek means speaker
The site goes on to describe general personalities and hits me right on.
My brother’s open heart surgery went as planned. Now to recover.
DH has developed a head cold on his second week after surgery. I have to keep a close eye on him.
Excitement at the Mexican border this morning. Don’t know what it is about. But will update. We are only 4 miles from the border. Helicopters circling the elementary school and border patrol vehicles flying by on the highway with lights flashing. Most excitement we have seen since being here!

Glad you brother’s surgery went well. Good idea to keep and eye on DH as things can change quickly into something worse. Keep us posted and your doors locked.4 -
Went to my annual vascular and bloods clinic this morning. The nurse kept on saying how amazing I was and how I didn't look anything like my age! I always get really nervous and my blood pressure is in the high range of normal, but my heart was also beating fast and it's normally really slow. We ended up talking about AF beers! She likes them as well. I do take 10 mgs of Amlodipine, and nothing I do seems to lower my clinic BP. My weight hadn't changed since last year. Good.
This afternoon I made the meatballs and froze them for my stepdaughter and started the mushroom risotto for dinner tonight.
Then I did 30 mins on the recumbent bike and sorted out a cupboard in the exercise room which has piles of sheets and towels in it that we haven't touched since we've been here, 7 years. Got some good ones for the charity shop and the rest are going to the dump. They are ones left over from DH's house before we got together. Why did we keep them? Too good to throw away, but we are not taking them with us. :noway:
I'm going to ring a couple of removal companies tomorrow and get them to come round for estimates. We still haven't heard if our vendors have found something.
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxx7 -
Heather, always nice to hear we look younger than our age Great job on keeping the same weight since last year.

Hello ladies. It's a little late for me tonight. Looked up my name, it is derived from the Old French masculine name Joose, also derived from the Latin name Judoc meaning Lord. So I have a title here! Lord Joyce!
JanetR, congrats on your son being engaged. You will have to makec a very special egg for them. This could even start a new line for you!
Becca, sounds like you have a plan. Will you have people visiting you? If you have prior knowledge of them coming, could you have them bring you a hot meal? The hospitals here have a guest meal. They start at 2 dollars and go up to 5. You can order anything on the menu or all that is on the menu. I only ordered a couple of them when Charlie had his miningitiis and I just didn't want to leave his bedside. The walk downstairs to the cafeteria is long but you get to see the same people every time and it's always nice to see a smile when you are there a long time. I know when I was working, we were always proud of the cashier in our cafeteria. She was so friendly to everyone, remembered what people said about themselves, would ask about loved ones, etc. But you did get a lot of steps getting there. And going to the cafeteria, you could purposefully take the long way once you got to the first floor. I never did after I got my food. If I ate in the cafe, I would but if I was going straight back to his room, I wanted my food to be hot. But the guest meals were really the same cost and sometimes better. The same people that bring the patients their meal brought my meal and I paid them. If I needed change they brought it back.
No change on my fingers. It it isn't time yet so I just sit here and bide my time.
I hope everyone stays safe in the storms. We are supposed to have snow showers tonight.
Well Mozart did it. Christina got him a tall cat condo for Christmas. He loves it but likes to pretty much run up the three levels to get to the top. The condo isn't real stable so as he is running up, it is a little unstable and does wobble. So today the condo tips over. It did land on him just a little bit but he is OK. So since it is so big and heavy, we just left it where it is since it is totally out of the way. So poor Mozart has been trying to climb all over it on the floor.

Very true, I could do the meals, when he's able too eat. OHSU has good food, but its not hot, by the time it gets to you. I will probably have middle son visiting, and I can have him bring me something. Of course, if he brought a homemade turkey, cheese and tomato sandwich, that would be grand! He has also started to fry eggs and out them in, (minus the turkey). The main thing is I don't want to eat like crap. It's healthy, or nothing! I will not settle for chips, cookies, or candy. Plus it makes me feel lousy!

I am caught up. I hope everyone is doing well -- surviving -- so many trials and hardships. We have a lot of combined strength to make it through everything we do.
Work has been busy, but it should get better in about a week. Hubby started his new job this week, and it seemed to go well. He's home for a couple days, then goes back out next week. The cat likes to sleep with me when he's gone, and even though I'm allergic to her, I still love it. She's a quieter bed companion than my husband is.
I am so thankful that the three weeks of training is over. Whew. I like the classes I take, but because I pick and choose, I can usually fit them into my schedule. The training sessions were so restrictive regarding time. I like having my freedom back, especially since work has been so stressful.
It is really stormy here today -- how about for those of you on the coast? We are losing small branches all over campus. My little guy rode his bike to school today. That probably wasn't the best idea.
Here's our puppy. We all just realized in the past few weeks that he is 8 years old!! That made all of us really sad.
Even though I don't say much, I think of you all often and appreciate the support you give to each other.

Wed: Went to the deep water class. Didn't work as hard since it's been so long since I've been to the class. The plan for tomorrow is to do Karen Voit's Slim Physique Upper and Lower Body Workouts.
Put a load of laundry in. Need to vacuum the downstairs since a friend whose hubby has a pickup will be maybe bringing a few tables here. See, the March board meeting of Newcomers is typically a combination of the old board and the new board. It'll be at my house. We're figuring on 14 people. I have two 6' banquet tables that I'm thinking I'll put together, that will seat 14. I have another table that will seat an add'l four if we need it. I have another table on which we can put a coffee pot and other drinks (ice tea, maybe juice). I'm borrowing two 8' banquet tables from a friend and this guy is going to use his pickup to bring them here. We can't fit 8' tables in our Outlook. He can leave the extra 2' hanging out the back, which isn't a problem as far as I'm concerned. The meeting isn't until the end of March so whenever it works into his schedule is fine with us. Update: the daughter of the gal I was going to borrow them from, her daughter borrowed them for her church. So this gal is trying to get in touch with her daughter to see how long they'll be needed. I guess if worse comes to worse, I could borrow some from the church (I've done that before)
Julie - don't worry about not getting to everything here. We are a chatty bunch, that's for sure.
janetr - congrats!!!! Boy, you grandson has certainly had his share! How wonderful of you to have taken care of him when he needed it.
Laura - you BETTER post pictures. We all want to "oohhh" and "aahhh" over them. Feel better fast.
Machka - Happy Birthday
After exercise, stopped at the Salvation Army. Didn't get anything. Then went to Big Lots since I needed the kind of soft mints they have then WalMart. Ceramics tonight Update: Vince didn't go, but he thinks he'll probably go next week
Anglie - welcome back
Rye - do you do the hula hoop on the Wii? I tried that this past Monday and for some reason it bothered my knees. Next Monday I'm going to try it but not on the Wii
Vince has the TV on right now. All I hear about is the weather. Really, how can someone watch it for hours at a time? Well, if that makes him happy. But I would like to watch some of my recorded shows on the VCR. Thinking of everyone in the path of this storm.
Terry in VT - I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin's wife. We had a few cats who had thyroid problems. We took them for radioactive isotope treatment and haven't had a problem since.
Thurs: did Karen Voit's Slim Physique Upper and Lower Body workouts DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do Zuka Power Cardio DVD, Disc 1.
Volunteered at the Green Room today then stopped at Aldi for a few things on the way home.
Becca - I know this sounds really weird, but when we go away, something that I take with me that doesn't need refrigeration are those meals for babies. I can get carrots and green beans. I know that they have other meals. At least that's something that doesn't need refrigeration. Another thing I take with me are those small cartons of milk. Of course, there are the 100 calorie packs of almonds (or you dole them out for yourself), dried fruit, dried edamame, just some ideas of things you can take with you. ((((BIG HUG))) What about those individually sealed cheese sticks? Good for you losing! If it were me, I'm sure I'd be stress eating about now.
Joyce - poor Mozart
Rita - so glad to hear about your brother doing so well
Better post this before I forget (like I did yesterday)

So no movement on the scales. I do feel lighter. Lighter in spirit? My nightly dancing is making me sore, but that should get better. Where I will find a place to do that in the hospital, is anyone's guess. Might just stretch, and walk.
I have stopped taking my pills the doctor prescribed for my overactive bladder. Yes it stopped me from peeing 6+ times before settling in to sleep. The side affects were such a dry mouth, breathing and wheezing, and medicine head from the sleep aid part. The effects outweighed the benefits. Also because I'm drinking 80 oz a day, I am up regardless.
Ooh my site on FB of Suki The Cat, is giving away free calendars! I told them Suki was my mental rental cat, and I need him on my wall! It should be in the mail shortly, I just know it to be so. I get feelings in my mind of things. When I had gone in to a job interview once, back in 2007, I knew I had it. Just a process of letting them know it. Positive thinking uber style! He asked me if I had any questions. This was after an hour talking with the interviewer (that turned out was the manager of the store). I said matter of factly, "You know I have the job right"? He replied, " Yes I do". Heehee! And I did!
Ooh tonight I'm making a tilapia breaded fillet sautéed lightly in butter, with some rice. Excited. Its such a delicate fish I have to treat it gingerly. No flopping it around like salmon!
Windy, rainy today on the coast! Simple menu today. Lunch is cooked carrots with some dried cranberries, walnuts and honey. Breakfast was Greek yogurt topped with granola, and a cup of my tumeric orange juice. Sipping on a large glass of grapefruit juice. Living like an islander already with all these juices going on!
Hugs to ya all!

[Becca, at the local hospital complex they have a rehab/ fitness center. When people come into town with patients they can get a 7 day free pass to use the center. You might check if there is anything like that at your hospital complex. The hospital chaplain (if the med center has one- if not a chaplain, surely someone in that hospital fills a similar role) might also know of some resources available to patient families that are not readily obvious.

Got my hula hooping done. Michelle I have not dug out the Wii- nor do I currently have a TV to attach it - lol, my husband monopolizes our single TV, too. I often watch recorded tv on my iPad via the TiVo app while he watches the big flat screen. It doesn’t matter much to me, and he loves the ‘theater’ quality he created in our TV room (surround sound and 70 inch tv). I’m deaf in one ear and blind in one eye, and frankly I think the tv is too big to watch comfortably. The iPad is a bit small, but not too bad.
This is the last day of my Fast Mimicking Diet session. It looks like I’ll have dropped 2 or 2.5 pounds. I dropped 4 pounds in January doing it. Except for these intervals doing this (I plan to do 5 this year) I am on maintenance eating. So I hope to lose another 5-10 pounds this year, but I’m fine if I don’t.
Kidd Kirby has contact dermatitis and scratched to injury several places on his face. We can’t figure out what he could have gotten it from except some shipping boxes I did not breakdown and get into the recycle bin quickly last week. The only other likely culprit would be a cedar allergy - I just pulled out an afghan from the cedar chest and he was sleeping on it. He got an antibiotic and steroid shot when he went to vet.
Got news today that one of my photos was accepted by Getty Images! That made me feel really good.9 -

the darker redhead is bullwinkle, she's a girl that was a younger pic of her and then a pic of her in her white face glory. i think she'll b 13 this yr
the lighter one is floyd, he's 8 this yr , then there's black yogi3 -
Becca: Thinking of you. :flowerforyou:
Felicia: Why are you sad that your dog is 8 years old? That seems like a healthy and active age. Is he sick? Our dog is 10 and counting. He went through a bad time in December when he slipped a disc in his back falling off of his bed/stool, but we were able to get good veterinary care & he has come out great.
Today DH & I got our hair cut & I feel better! Yoga today was also good and I'm looking forward to yoga again tomorrow. We're down to two days of yoga week because of lack of teachers. I hope the situation improves before too long.

Hi ladies!
Busy day, skipped a few pages. Back from the allergist. Will begin the shots next week. Once in each arm twice a week for 20 weeks to start!
We need to get rid of the old carpets for sure, so will having fun shopping for new floor coverings - I now see there is "resilient vinyl" which looks like high end tile or wood and might just fit our budget. Might be better than laminate. I don't think real ceramic tile or hardwood is possible for us since we want to do several rooms.
That and deck repair will be the summer projects - thankful we got a healthy tax refund. Lately, we always have plenty withheld. Back when interest rates were 8% or higher, I wanted to get the interest but now it's negligible so might as well "bank" it with the IRS is my feeling. We use Taxact which doesn't take long figure out (a couple hours) and file online. I recall the days when we had the farm and I had boxes of receipts - my sympathies to those of you who still have to go through this process and visit the tax preparer.
Oh - I found out something interesting about migraines - the allergy tech told me about "Daith Piercings" which hit the acupressure point in the ear and relieves migraines in some people. She had a little teensy ring in the inner cartilage in each ear and said her migraines, which she'd had since childhood, are now vastly better, she no longer has to take Triptans. If I still suffered from migraines I would look into it.
Ok better close. My allergies are kicking my tush right now, likely from being injected with a whole bunch of them. Mold is the big one for me. And evergreens, cedar. I found the allergist no longer tests for Scotch Broom since apparently we are the only part of the country that has to deal with it, and the antigen manufacturer decided it wasn't cost effective to keep preparing that formula.
Welcome to the Pacific Northwest, lol. Allergy capital of the USA

Oh, we're just being silly, I guess. But we really do think of him as a puppy which means he would be around for years and years, and to realize that he is 8, a fully adult dog even getting on the old side, just made us sad. He's not sick, but my middle son has noticed more gray around his muzzle than in the past. The dog has emotional issues, and we've all worked really hard helping him to feel loved and safe. We're just really attached to him.
