Morning everyone
Machka I have done 6 stints in ICU but in a Perth hospital and then was moved to a ortho ward. They had a strict downtime between 1pm and 3pm. However I had a single room (due to the issues) as the head doctor allowed my husband to come and go. It may be worth asking.
Rebecca - Love the picture
My tenants moved out of our rental yesterday and have left a mess, so we are going up there today to wash walls, clean blinds, stoves etc. Hubby is going to repaint the laundry. When I get home - I will need to log into work at 8am as we are updating the system.
Happy weekend everyone

Lanette: I also take 5000 units of D3 daily. I started many years ago at a lower dose and increased to 5000 a couple of years ago. The information coming out of Alzheimers research prompted me to up my dose. 5000 IU is thought to be a suitably protective level. I got that information from OHSU a few years ago but couldn't find it there again more recently. The series of programs that you shared was a godsend. They were so informative and full of strategies and hope, that I now feel more confident, better in general, and possibly even smarter. I also participate in yoga several times a week as well as other physical activities including horseback riding.

Katla - Yes, that Broken Brain series was a winner. I especially liked Bredesen's information about vitamins (I now take CoQ10 as well as the D ) and doing the IF (intermittent fasting) - 12 hours between the night meal and breakfast and not eating 3 hours before bedtime (not always successful but at least I'm aware) and of course cutting way back on that ole demon sugar. I think he also mentions eliminating gluten? I have to dig out my notes.
Pip - after I posted about the B vitamins, I realized I haven't been taking my B12 supplements! - lozenges under the tongue. I try to take them 3 days a week. Does Kirby have the neurologist appointment set up? You might have posted about it and I whipped past it. .
Lenora - good luck with that colonoscopy! Hope everything works out for you this time. I imagine they've done an abdominal ultrasound? Not that it would show what you need to know. That hospital sounds like a twisted maze. Ours is too - it's a little one but a person almost needs a guide to even find the cafeteria.
Beth - good luck on all of your tests - it will be great to have them behind you.
I told my Chiropractor he was the son I never had today. I love being an old lady! I can say all kinds of things like that and no one takes offense or thinks I'm hitting on them, lol. I feel pretty darn good, I think he got my energy channels all aligned.
OK kids, time to get back to watching Endeavour! I hate it because I'm now on Season 4 and that's the last one on Acorn TV. I think Season 5 is now broadcast in the UK? I'm "in love" with Thursday, lol. Reminds me of one of my favorite bosses.

Hi everyone. Although I can never keep up with this awesome chatty group, I still like to pop in and list my monthly goals and see how everyone is doing. I love that when I do hop on each month, I still recognize most of you.
2018 has been a much better year so far mentally. I changed jobs in November, which allowed me to stop working 60 to 70 hours per week. I just couldn't do it anymore. Now, I'm in the Quality Department of a Clinic and really enjoy it.
I've been gaining weight instead of losing. Frustrated because I'm heavier than ever before and cannot seem to shake it. But I get up each day with a new resolve and one of these days it will stick. Have to stay positive and keep working toward changing my lifestyle.
Hope to catch up with how you are all doing!
Tracie in Wisconsin

Safely in Mississippi for the night, watching crap TV while Corey soaks in the tub (I'm a showerer, not a tubster, and already took one).
Ten hours of driving turned into 13, with potty, brunch and dinner stops, but the worst of it is done. Except the storm headed this way. *sigh* Hopefully past us by morning. We'll see.
Egg is not a happy Egg, she was ensconced under the seat... hopefully will remember where the potty, food and water are. Poor baby... hate it when she's unhappy, but shorter drive than the four days it took to get to NC from Texas. If experience is any teacher, she'll be unhappy for a bit after we get there, but at least she's not dealing with two large dogs, four strangers, and another cat this time, just us.

Did 1 hr of 20-40-60 minute workout on treadmill. The plan for tomorrow is to do the I Want That Body DVD.
Went to this place, Clines Antiques, with the Newcomers. It was nice, but to be honest, I probably won’t go back. I didn’t think their prices were all that great. And they had a lot of junk too. I did get this end-table type of thing for down at the condo. They went to lunch at this place Something Farm Fresh or some name like that. I was expecting fresh veges. Wrong! The green beans were canned, the lima beans were canned, and I’ve never in my life had such a disgusting biscuit. So I just ate my grilled chicken and had water to drink. When we got back ran to WalMart for a few things (since we were at the WalMart parking lot), then another gal and I went to Big Lots. Came home and had dinner, now here. My girlfriend is going to hang onto the “end table” and take it down to the condo when she goes in June.
Lisa – safe travels. You’ll have to change your name on here, too. So glad you made it to Mississippi
MrsTyll – welcome! Or should I say welcome back?
Margaret – my feeling is if someone needs to have their handicapped plac always on their rearview mirror – then they truly are handicapped (and I don’t mean medically)
Machka – glad your husband is making progress.
Karen in VA – that’s good news that a test for CRC isn’t recommended after age 75. Never knew that, but it’s good to know
Vince was going to start taking the leaves out of the pool and run the filter for the pool, only when he went to run it, one of the intake valves completely broke apart. He ordered a new one which should be here Sunday.
Becca – glad you got your bracelet back on!
Rye – love seeing pics of Kidd. He’s so cute!
Tracie – hey there! Thanks for popping in. Pop in more often.
Wonder how Joyce is doing?

Hello all: Finally caught up with reading again. It is officially mud season at my house. We didn't do too bad this winter but now everything is mud. It is a job keeping the shelters for the goats and horses clean so they have some place to get in out of the mud. I go out and clean 3 times per day. Would like to put the horses out in the pasture but they just churn them into mud and then we have no grass for the summer. Ate crazy stuff for lunch but then exercised to burn extra calories so think I will be okay.
Lisa - Poor Egg! I think cats are not usually the happiest of travelers but they seem to adjust. By the way thanks for the suggestion of the Door Buddy. We got one and it works just dandy keeping the puppy out of DD's room so the old cat (17 years) can find a peaceful place to be.
Becca - the little green frogs are Pacific Northwest tree frogs. We have lots of them in our pond area. You can hear them singing at this time of year. The squirrels are probably crazy because this is mating season! We don't seem to have too many of those. Enjoy the wildlife.
Pip - That is a beautiful place to ride.
Machka - Glad things are progressing. Hope they continue.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA5 -
Rye...good to hear from you. And good luck healing up to both you and your kitty.

The reason most people fail instead of succeed is that they trade what they want the MOST for what they want at the MOMENT.
This has been another good day with dog walking, teaching the line dance class, riding the exercise bike, and talking to Jake about the pros and cons of getting a second vehicle.

I'm actually happy with the fact that they've got a strict down time in the middle of the day. The last 2 or 3 days in ICU he hasn't been sleeping well because it's just so busy in there with people coming and going at all hours, and so much activity surrounding each patient. I've noticed that when he does get a reasonable sleep, he seems to respond a little bit more and move more and take a bit more interest in what's going on around him. Yesterday, he was so tired he couldn't stay awake for more than about 10 min, and didn't seem interested in much of anything.
As for me, I'm thinking I'll go to work during his down time. I need to get back into that, and 2-3 hours might be a good way to start. I'm putting together a plan for next week ... trying to regain some vague sense of control.

bwcetc: Good for you getting your screenings done. I hope they all come back showing you are in radiant health. :flowerforyou:
Lenora: I'm willing to watch local news, but not national news. Yuck! Weather news is different. I'm willing to see our forecast and others as well.
Machka: I hope things continue to improve for your DH. I think 2 or 3 hours back at work may let your mind do something other than worry, and that might be a good thing. (((HUGS)))
DH is sitting in his chair in the living room and either reading or sleep reading. I'm not sure which. He needs a little rest, and either reading or sleeping would be good.

MACHKA glad DH is improving
BECCA your new place looks wonderful, so happy for you
Welcome all newbies and returners
I'm still gaining and losing the same few pounds but still doing my KB and cardio workout everyday just love it
DH and I take various tablets garlic, multi vitamin, fish oil, vit C, he takes one for his enlarged prostate and Ranitidine for acid reflux. I take a low dose antibiotic to prevent UTI, thinking about stopping this but a bit apprehensive. Not sure if I already reported on my visit to durgeon re gall bladder removal but anyway he agreed with me that as I had no symptoms for 9 months that operating would be just a preemptive strike to prevent something that might never happen. I was glad I didn't have to argue my case. Of course cynical DH thinks it's because of the crisis we've got in the hospitals. I said no because the op was scheduled last month and I could have had it then.
Off to exercise now going out later will watch GRAND NATIONAL on a big screen somewhere (apologies to anyone who disapproves of horse racing) I'm a bit undecided)

G'Morning Everyone!
Katla You are not the only person on this forum who doesn't care to watch national news! But then how do you know what is going in in our country and in the world? Not being snarky, I really want to know. Do you use an online service, watch a morning show like GMA or Today, get informed against your will by your spouse (LOL!), read a newspaper?
I know some people truly do not want to know what is currently happening, but I definitely want to know. For example, the last 24 hours has been rather momentous, and will be part of world and US history. My brother doesn't want to know anything news related. He worked on an art project while classmates in his art class were huddled around the TV on 9/11!
Lisa Happy Travel Day 2!
Machka Hope "back to work" goes smoothly. Routine is good.

In the last 24 hours ... my husband got settled in his new ward (not sure whether he knows that or not), the Australian cycling team did well at the Commonwealth Games, and I went for my first run since January.
M in Oz16 -
Good morning all! Up early on a Saturday to get my DYS off to work. He is in management training for his company, and they seem to enjoy scheduling him until midnight one night and have him opening at 6 am the next morning. He also has a 45 minute drive to and from work. Doesn't leave much time for sleep. Makes this mama nervous.
Becca/Pip- I recognized that beautiful bridge (and it's name) immediately from Pip and Kirby's participation in the MS bike race/rally! It is a beautiful area!
Karen VA-I can't watch the news. It is a recent problem for me (the past couple of years). Certain people who are in the news grate on my nerves like nails on a chalkboard. I go online for news and then can research the facts while I read. DH thinks I don't know what is going on because I leave the room if he puts the news on; I just get my news from less abrasive sources. I often use the league of women voters website as one of my fact checking sites. I find they do a pretty good job of just putting the facts out there without a lot of opinion tied to it.
Machka- I think your observation in regards to your husband responding better when he gets more rest is spot on! Very wise of the hospital to designate a "no visitor" time so the patients can rest. I remember having discussions with my father in law and brothers in law, regarding giving their wife/mother time alone so she can rest (because they all seemed to feel she needed some one in the room with her at all times). She is not comfortable going to sleep with people in the room. Having some one in the room makes her feel like she needs to stay awake to keep them company. Lack of sleep makes her more confused and more irritable (as it does to all of us!). So happy he is progressing and you are able to get a little more back to a "normal" schedule. Sending love and strength to you both!
Lisa-Yep, that's a LOT of driving! Poor Egg! She probably doesn't remember her first trip cross country! Hope today brings you clearer skies and an easier leg of the journey!
Colonoscopy- I had mine at age 50 (they called me a few days before my 50th birthday to schedule it). I got it done because my insurance covered it. I found it very easy (prep and all), got a clean bill of health, and they said I don't need to be checked again for another 10 years (maybe I will have insurance again, by that time). Sorry if this is too much information: I am a firm believer in knowing your body and keeping an eye on your bms. If you are eating wrong, or if there is something wrong inside of your digestive system, your gut/bm will provide evidence.
I made chicken last night and it turned out REALLY well. lol I am a recent protein convert, but still not a big fan of most meats. But even I was impressed with the chicken. lol I trimmed a pound of boneless, skinless chicken breasts, dipped them in a mixture of egg and Sweet Baby Ray's Honey Hot, then breaded them in some leftover croutons (finely crumbled) and grated parmesan. I put them in the oven and baked them and the parmesan formed a crisp crust. I had my 4 oz portion, but would have eaten more if I had made more. DH and DYS had a bit more than I. DYS loves any chicken meal that I make; but DH is kind of "meh" on meat now that his teeth are bothering him; but even he loved this meal and would have eaten more. Instead we had wild rice and veggies to fill us up. So...arms in the air, Rocky Theme playing...dinner success!
DH sat down after dinner and watched a WHOLE movie with me! lol He usually falls asleep within five minutes; which is why every time I sit down to watch a movie, no matter which one it is, he has questions. We watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (the Ben Stiller version). I know I have mentioned this movie before, here. It is one of my favorites and I cry at certain spots in it (happy tears). The fact that I cry puzzles DH to no end; but he really liked the movie. "That was really good! Why haven't we seen this before?!" Can I hit him now?
Well, DYS is still using our vehicle, so I am carless for the majority of the day. My errands will have to wait until this evening or early, EARLY tomorrow morning. Storm blew through last night and the wind is still whipping (I can hear the lake roaring when I walk outside). Freezing rain expected today and tonight, so I will see what the weather is like before I head out. Today will be my cleaning and paperwork day. Going to bake a ham (I stocked up after Easter when the price went down to .97/pound) to take to the in laws. I think I will make them some ham and cheese croissants, some broccoli cheese soup (MIL's fave) and throw some ham and potato in there, and make them a few little mini quiches. That should tide them over for a few meals.
Better get busy. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Machka - so pleased to hear your husband's progress.
For anyone watching the news, that's where my son-in-law was just two short weeks ago. Knowing him, he's ticked off that he missed it!
Six and a half hours of driving to do, and then we're "home" for at least the next year. Got inside pics yesterday, finally. It looks clean and spacious, our main requirements. The rest we can deal with as we go. I'm hunting on the Internet for a nearby place where we can get a refrigerator, washer, dryer, freezer, bed, and chairs for the living room. Other than that, we're good to go.
Lisa in Mississippi until the husband wakes up again... long story...

Good Saturday morning!
Just caught up. Has been a difficult week with work and home, but managed to get some things completed. Took last night off! DH and I took out the shelby with her new brakes! They work! Yay! Dinner out then rest! Hopefully finish up a few small projects at rental today after work.
MACHKA- sounds like you are finding your new routine. So glad your husband is improving.
LISA- safe travels!
RYE-continued healing
Time to get ready for work. Hugs, love and high fives!

Hi, I'm on my phone because MFP is messed up on my tablet. Grrrrrr! I've done all the cancelling cookies and cache thing, but it makes no difference. The website works on my phone OK.
I managed to sort out the interior layout of my book this morning on the third try. Phew!!! Now I'm trying to decide on a cover design out of the templates they give you. I'm having a rest from it right now.
This morning Oxfam came to collect another whole load of books. At least another load to go.
DH at cricket.
My brain is tired.
Much love, Heather UK XXXXXX6 -
Both DH and I are having sleep problems with a bit of anxiety. He is worried about his younger daughter and her job (print journalism) plus his nephew's upcoming marriage. Plus a bit of moving anxiety. I seem to have my book on my mind plus the move. We luckily can talk to each other and did better last night. We both count our blessings and know everything is minor, but anxious thoughts still creep in.
I don't like having to make decisions or deal with details. I'm a broad sweep kind of person. The computer drives me insane.
One of the charities I emailed has asked me to send my book for review. Hooray!!!!!

Heather I can relate, as I am a card carrying "Worrier". Times of upheaval are especially challenging, reflected in my dreams mostly. i suffer from Anticipatory Anxiety for sure and use a lot of self talk to get myself through. You both are facing a lot of exciting and scary changes ahead, so important that you can talk it through.
Happy Saturday, we are having a true spring day here, though tomorrow the temps will drop 40 degrees, so not gonna plant a thing outdoors. DH and I will have a fun errand day and work outdoors together, I am counting my blessings and reminding myself how very lucky we are on this crazy journey together.

Happy Saturday!
Machka - yes, great idea limiting visiting hours in your DH's ward. Glad to hear you are back to work a bit and settling into a routine.
Karen in VA - gorgeous flowers! My hyacinths (my favorites!) have gotten trampled into the mud it seems by the wind and rain we've had this week.
Kate & Karen UK - Thursday was in Les Miserables? Wow! Spoiler:so glad he coughed up that bullet - I thought he would. Kate, it sounds like your earlier procedure took care of the gall bladder problem. The Grand National sounds pretty neat to me - love to see horses. Maybe we'll get to see it on BBC over here at some point.
