    Hi Skinny,

Love your name by the way!
I try not to eat the calories I’ve burned back...try is the key word. I go by MFP’s calculation of calories burned. Fitbit always shows much more calories burned.

Hi all! Nice to read about everyone’s progress to know I’m not alone. I did a lot of hiking & activity over the weekend so it’s not a surprise my appetite is up!
But I also had wine over the weekend, so I am net zero.
I think I need to focus solely on calories rather then carbs for a bit. I’m focusing on both and am making myself miserable. So that’s what I will do.
Does anyone else go by My fitness pal only or do you use Fitbit calories burned? My Fitbit says for example that I burned almost 1600 calories & the day is not over yet. According to my app, I have technically been in defecit for awhile. So why would the scale not show it?

Good plan, the calories are where its at, get those right and the rest follows

Sometimes it takes a while for any loss to show up on the scales, for me it was always a 3 week weight and then whoosh - its called the whoosh effect and its real  so bear with it, keep up the good work and it will pay off.

    Happy Hump Day everyone!

This is only my second day on MyFitness Pal and tracking food, etc. I've been a yo yo dieter my whole life, and I think it's because I have never had a plan that was sustainable for me. My last bout was eating Paleo, and although the Paleo principles are good, I blew up again once I started eating bread, and I constantly craved it. I'm 42 and looking to the future-I need to be able to be at a healthy weight, but keep it off, and being able to eat according to nutritional value and counting calories I think will work. I have over 100 pounds to lose. Please friend me!!

Fellow yo yo'er here too.. well until I found MFP anyway  so you're in the right place.
Losing weight is all about eating at calorie deficit, eating less than you burn.

Wishing you all the best on this weight loss journey.

    Love the title of this!
I going to start with logging everything and upping my steps from 10,000 to 15,000-20,000 and trying only to eat half my exercise calories back.. hopeful it will work, I have 50lb to lose & I sooo want it to work!
    Good luck everyone!

Good plan, don't up the steps and do too much to soon but ease yourself into them.
Eating back half exercise cals is a good idea. When you want something bad enough you will work for it so wishing you all the best.

    Happy Thursday!

Today’s theme is “Progress not Perfection”.
I tend to be a perfectionist when it comes to exercise weight loss and tracking...over analyzing everything. Today I will not get mad at my Fitbit if it doesn’t calculate every step.

I like 'Progress not Perfection'
Perfection is over rated LOL, but we can just aim to do our best.

Have a great day Jill and everyone else.

Good morning! Just found this thread/group... and very glad I did! I'm enjoying reading everyone's progress, insight and encouragement. I've been an inconsistent user of MFP for several years but am now on my 81st consecutive day of tracking (wooohooo!!) and loving the results of my commitment. Eating mindfully and staying within my calorie limit most of the time, I've seen slow and steady progress.

Hope everyone has a great day, and thanks for letting me jump in here!

Spring is finally here in Michigan! The birds are singing and I can’t wait to get my Spring clean up started after dinner! I love to work in the yard and in our tiny little garden. My husband and son will be at basketball practice, so I get to play outside! Enjoy your little patch of wonderful...and get outside if you can. Carpe Diem!

Love spring time  only thing is we see so much stuff that needs doing. Hope you got lots done today, it's a great feeling.

I've done something to my back :/ I did a few different lifts today during my strength training and I'm pretty sure that's the cause! It'll pass in a few days but right now I am hobbling about like a 90 year old!

The great thing is it's almost the weekend and I get quality time with our little grandson who's just turned 7 months  bless him he had to get glasses to help his long sightedness - such a cutie <3

Time for bed for me now, enjoy the rest of your day

But before I go.. here's a photo of our little munchkin <3https://photos.app.goo.gl/J3kN3chGUNfBX69t9
  • It’s Thursday! I’ve worked out everyday this week! Pretty proud of myself, and I’ve stayed at or under calorie goal without adding back exercise calories. Today I’m hungry though, like ...HUNGRY. We’re going out for Mexican tomorrow and I’ve told myself all week that I can eat my workout calories tomorrow at dinner - that’s the only thing keeping me from eating the entire house right now.
I have a new plan, I always struggle with weight loss in the beginning, then I step on the scale, it doesn’t budge, I get discouraged... and I start eating crappy again. Sooo....you know how when you complete your MFP diary at the end of day, and it pops up and says “If every day we’re like today, in five weeks you’d weight ___”? My plan is to not get on the scale until my 5 weeks is up, May 25. I’m going to keep working out 4-5 days a week, track all my calories, do all my MFP log ins and STAY OFF THE SCALE!! I hope I have the will power. May 25.

Ruth, Your grandson is such a cutie! I love how he’s tasting his new glasses. <3

Stacie, Love your new plan! Proud of your hard work this week. Keep it up, and enjoy your Mexican dinner. :)

I’m exhausted and totally content! My yard has been raked...so it’s officially Spring. I rocked it today, and even stayed below my calories. Rock on my fabulous peeps!

Impressive steps @jm216 Jill, that will have given you a great calorie burn for the day. And sounds like you got lots done  You are doing fab!

@stacielheckgmailcom2015 Hi Stacie, well done on your workouts
MFP is designed so you eat your exercise calories back - your body needs them. The calorie deficit is built into the number they give you without exercise. So don't be afraid to eat some of them back - I always ate 50-75% of mine back. If you're hungrier thats your body telling you it needs some more fuel

And I'm sorry to say when the diary gives you that number, take it with a pinch of salt cos its worth dang all. But waiting to weigh in isn't a bad idea. Especially if weighing frequently plays on your mind.

    Happy Friday everyone.

    Happy Friday friends!

Ruth, I hope your back is feeling better today. It really stinks when that happens. :(
