Good morning all! Happy Tuesday! A bit sore today; though not as sore as yesterday. I spent six hours total in my yard over the weekend, and I am feeling them all! lol I tried to NOT do much yesterday with the kids, but they wanted a walk so off we went. They were a bit upset that I took them the opposite way they wanted to walk, but I chose the more level path due to the fact that my ankles and knee were twinging from mowing the lawn and all of the squatting, kneeling etc. They still had fun. They always do. We made "discovery jars" as we walked. I gave each of the kids a clean plastic jar (like a peanutbutter jar, with label removed) and they filled it with nature "discoveries", like moss, pinecones, acorns, rocks, dandelions, fairy plants, etc. We found some morel mushrooms along the bikepath! Whoot! They didn't want any, so I got them all! They were small ones, so I am thinking in another week or so there should be some good sized mushrooms in the area. Some rain would help them along.
Dana, Janet, Lisa, Penny- After a couple of drives through Missouri and Arkansas last year, I was very impressed with the area. Absolutely beautiful country! I saw more of Missouri; only because when we were going through Arkansas we were driving in rain/storms most of the time. But I LOVE the hills, forests, and mountainous region we went through. I remember being just amazed at the sheer force that it must have taken to build roads through that rocky/mountainous terrain!
REbecca- Is Suki owned by a family in Asia? Those types of bridges are popular in that part of the world. They seem to be into putting a scare factor into their hiking trails.
Cheri and Beth- lol That graph! My kids always call/text me back; it's my husband! I don't worry that he is dead or injured. I know he is just being a non-social poop and ignoring my calls/texts. As I have said many times before; he was not spanked enough as a child!
Pip- Your tree and pink snow!Happy birthday Floyd! How did the ride go for Kirby?
Penny- Love the polar bear mural! I bet it was pretty untagged; but it is very cool after the fact, also. Might have been fun to see a untagged mama bear and a couple of tagged cubs behind her!
Barbie- Lucky you! Free flowers! I have often seen iris and daffodil growing wild on the sides of the road around here. I always wonder if I could just go and pull them up and replant them in my yard...I probably should/could. The road commission is getting very vigorous with mowing the shoulders of the road. That makes me mad because they are mowing down a lot of wild flowers and milk weed (which cuts down our monarch population immensely). Happy planting!
Hugs to all of the rest! Machka, as always, a special tight hug for you and your DH! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Did 5 minutes on the hula hoop. I’m still amazed that with my big hips it doesn’t stay up longer! Then held my plank for 3 minutes then took the extremepump class.
Yesterday I got Vince to put up the decorations in the downstairs bathroom. Nothing big, but I didn’t want to have to wait for years to get it done. Started on the diamond dotz for Jessica for christmas. I kept needling Vince about my mulch that I want for Mother’s Day (yes, that’s what I want). I suggested we measure to find out how much we need AND HE DID! Am I ever shocked!
Karen in VA – my welcoming pool welcomes anyone and everyone here. You can also see my ceramic “creations”. And now we will have mulch which is going to be my Mother’s Day gift. Yea! I’m working on these mushrooms right now that will go in the mulch (at least this year they will). I’m not crazy about caviar, either. I would prefer to not have it.
Pip – better get an extra big birthday cake!
Lanette – I honestly don’t think kids realize that prospective employers look at their facebook pages
Subdew – I’ve had osteoporosis for years. My advice? I’ve taken just about everything on the face of the earth. Haven’t taken forteo, tho. Continue getting the BDT. Yes, take the calcium and vitamin D supplements. Not every medication is for everyone so don’t be surprised if you need to change (I was on reclast and now I’m on prolia. The ones you take by mouth weren’t as effective for me. The injections are. See, the ones you take by mouth have to go thru the digestive system before they get to the bone. The injectable ones go right to the bone. Continue exercising, especially impact. It doesn’t have to be high impact. Weight training is very good too. Research which foods are high in calcium. The last time I went for my DBT, for the first time I was told that I have osteopenia. I’m not going to do a happy dance just yet. Guess I’m just afraid that the person reading the test made a mistake. I’ll rejoice if my next BDT shows that I’m ostopoeniac (is that a word?) again. After taking it for something like 5 years, you’re supposed to take a break from it.
Carol – I agree with Rebecca. The school had to have SOMETHING they could have given your gd
Lisa – big congrats to you on that win
A friend got 5 pounds of beets for free so she gave some to me. Well, last night I tried to roast them. As I took them out of the bag, I knew why she got them for free. Oh well….I just won’t tell her that I honestly had to throw them out.
Beth – love what you send to your son and so appropriate. They just don’t think
Barbie – gee…we’re getting the same Mother’s Day gifts!!! Last year my gift was getting the trees trimmed. A far cry from what the stores/commercials say you should get. One year Vince had the kids make me breakfast in bed. I absolutely hated it. I hated being away from them that I asked him never to do that again. I know his heart was in the right place, but I didn’t enjoy it one bit. I would have enjoyed it if the kids had stayed in the room with me, tho
Lenora -I was thinking of the eruptions in Hawaii and thinking of Rori. Jess couldn’t take her Tone It Up protein shake with her, so I took the chocolate. It’s honestly something that you really need to get used to since TIU doesn’t have any sugar in it (or sugar substitute). But then again, I remember the first time I had shirataki noodles, I was thinking it would be like spaghetti. But the texture is so different. But now I prefer shirataki to regular spaghetti. I’m sure it’ll be the same way with the TIU shake. I’m just going to take it slow at first, use ½ a scoop at a time and mix it with something that I like (like applesauce)
Barbara – how scary! Everyone is welcome to come over to swim and see my ceramic “creations”. I don’t mind having multiple parties, either. Actually, Vince said it’s supposed to be 90 on Mother’s Day so guess where I’ll probably be??????
Steve came her last night. I didn’t have anything for dinner since I wasn’t sure what time he’d get here so we just went to Red Lobster. I was pretty good, dessert was a cup of tea, had the grilled shrimp and broccoli, only ½ of their biscuit, water to drink, some of the salad (after sending it back to request no croutons or cheese be put on it. I didn’t know but probably should have guessed that it came on it). Not sure what we’ll do tonight. Vince has Newcomer shooting and since he missed last time because we were helping Jess, he feels he should go this time. Normally, he would just skip it. So Steve and I may go out. But I did make a banana bread and got this ice cream cookie (never saw that) since I know Steve likes ice cream.
Did Amy Dixon’s Breathless Body DVD. That one’s pretty good. The plan for tomorrow is to do a DVD for the bosu since we have a Newcomer general meeting.

Good morning! Another day for me to try to figure out who's who and what's going on here.
As far as the irises (they were irises right?), I had tiger lillies one year I had to clear out and just threw them in the ravine in the back yard. Needless to say, I had an orange ravine until the year I moved out.
Michele in NC, a three-minute plank is fantastic! I'm at two minutes and it honestly feels as long as my workday. Also, you propagate mushrooms in mulch? I'm a mushroom freak and forage chantarelles at a secret place (of course) in the Catskills--only have to share it with like 50 eastern europeans. Gotta get up in the dark to be the first one out there.
Did a 5k run last night which was my fastest pace in years, and hit the gym at 5:15 this morning since I have to work late tonight, but still have time for a dinner out at an Indian restaurant which I love. Not the best day to skip a workout.

Lisa - well done on the fantastic grant! And your studio/sewing area looks perfect. Are your GS duties back to sticking around home base for a while?
Dana - what a pretty neighborhood. How long did you and your DH have to look before finding such a gem? And what drew you to Arkansas from Texas?
Barbara AHMOD - YIKES on the big pussycat! I researched them when we had the farm and some lambs came up missing due to some sneaky varmint that we determined was not a coyote. Apparently the big kitties are territorial and can have quite a range. Hopefully is ready to leave your neighborhood for a long time and head off to greener pastures for some yummy bunnies way off yonder.
Katla - thinking about your strange neighbor who prunes and waters and gets in your space .... I wonder if she has mental issues - she doesn't seem to recognize boundaries. I used to work with a gal like that - always made it a point to "fix" other people's stuff (that didn't necessarily need fixing!) but her own work product and cube and were a disaster area. When confronted about her annoying behavior, she'd explain she had OCD. Really? My DH said that was her way of being passive/aggressive. I hope the message your HOA prez sent to her does the trick. I'd like to peep in the windows of her house and see what it looks like in there. But that's just me.
SueBDew - I think the Vitamin D3 form is better than the D2 for your bones, you might want to research that.
Rebecca - bet your DS will be glad to get more of mom's home cooking on a regular basis! He has a good heart to let his roomie off the hook on paying his fair share, but sounds like it went on for far too long. Glad you are settling in on the island!
Kelly - the master gardeners here decided to grow Milkweed in various spots as Monarch "waystations". I grabbed a start from one of the beds a few years ago, and stuck it into one of our beds and it's doing well - spreads by roots traveling underground. So far have gotten the blooms every year and I LOVE the smell. Haven't seen any Monarchs yet but they might venture up this far at some point.
Heather - glad your heat wave is over for a while. We're set up for 85 this coming Sunday as well, then back into the 60's.
Was up at 2:30 this morning to go to the bathroom and older dog met me in the hall - she needed to go outside. So out we went - her tummy was upset and I had to wait for her to eat grass and wander around. Cows were mooing loudly next door and I could hear coyotes crying in the distance. Our new neighbors don't burn their porch lights at night so I could see the stars and planets pretty well for a change - no light pollution.
We live in a special place.
Have a good day!

Remodeling contractor coming this morning to give ballparks and guidance. Goals for kitchen remodel: propane for Aunt Elsie's stove, vent hood that exhausts to outside, new kitchen and laundry room cabinets with shelves I can reach, roll out shelves and corner lazy susan in base cabinets, replace peninsula with baking center, remove/repair any mold in floor under sink, new double (undermount?) sink and (quartz?) countertops, (vinyl plank?) flooring in dining room/kitchen/laundry with baseboards, repair/replace windowsills, paint, light fixtures. Get rid of electric stove, dishwasher, keep fridge. Explore future possibilities of replacing drivewayside deck/changing slider to new "front" door, replacing and extending oceanside deck to along MBR, with roofed/sheltered area for hot tub, changing MBR window to be french doors out to tub area, changing current "front" door to let in more light, re-pipe house for bathroom facelifts. That's the wish list. The reality is we may need a new roof which will take priority and mean we can't afford to update anything, not even in phases, until we refinance, if we can.
KJ I really want to be one of your daycare kids. What are fairy plants? Morels, what a discovery!
Heather have I thanked you lately for the AF beer inspiration? So far my favorite (and least caloric) is Kaliber from Guinness, but both Clausthalers from TJ's are good too. Not a fan of the AF St. Pauli Girl, nor the O'Douls. Haven't tried the AF wine yet. If you'd told me last month I'd be AF 6 days out of 7 and happy about it, I'd still be laughing!
Enjoy the day, lovelies!Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD.

Just lost my post! Grrrrrrrrrr!
Barbara - I love my AF beers too. My favourite is made in Scotland and only 26 calories. I also am AF 6 days a week.I had a de-alcoholised wine delivered today. I'm not holding out great hopes, but I'll try it. It's a Torres red. I also love the San bitters and the Crodino as aperitifs, but my very favourite is Seedlip Garden. Calorie free! Very expensive though. I'm not missing alcohol at all.
I've just got back from running 6k in the heat. I chose a shady lane, but it's still 82° in the shade. My first time that distance. I'm hoping to work up to 10k.
Had my yoga friend to lunch. My friend I saw yesterday texted me to say she has just resigned from her new part time divorce lawyer job. "Just can't do it any more". She is 69.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx6 -

Machka tears of joy at the "he knows me" and "one bite at a time". So hopeful! Continued healing and strenghth intentions to you both. (((hugs))) Zwift sounds like a good strategy. Don't suppose you can use the rehab gym with your husband?
Thanks!
I've been crying tears of joy ... and having small meltdowns just from the stress of the whole thing ... then more tears of joy. Very emotional in the last week or so.
They do have a pretty decent-looking treadmill I was tempted to try, but other than that, most of the stuff there is pretty rehab-specific. However, once he gets into the rehab unit, I want to check out their gym!
Long day ... hospital, work, hospital, and this evening I finished another assignment for university. Bed now!

Osteoporosis and weight?
I was just thinking, if you lose bone density, that affects your lean mass weight, doesn’t it?
I was wondering because my mother, who had osteoporosis (she was taller than I when I left for college and considerably shorter than I in my college graduation pictures - but I didn’t get any taller) weighed at the end of her life about exactly what I do now.
But she was wearing size 14 clothing that I have been giving away. I’m wearing size six or eight. Her body shape was similar (extremely small waist, hips, thighs and later in life stomach where the fat seemed to settle) but I was alway shocked at how little she actually weighed when she was quite well padded (to be polite).
Could bone density be part of the lower scale weight to ‘overweight’ appearance?

Upset, can't do the HFLC any more, should have known better, after 3 days my gall bladder started playing up. So it's back to LF for me

Machka9 - Continued progress for DH is very encouraging.
Michelle - I picked up some Protein Premier (ready made), thinking it was 'vanilla'; poured it in a glass once it got cold and it was caramel. I like caramel; just a little disappointed since I wanted to find something more similar that I have gotten from my Nutrionalist. Yesterday, went to GNC and found some that really tasted the same. Got 4 4-packages (vanilla, strawberry, banana cream, and orange cream. Got 2 protein bars which he said was their best seller. Maybe I will get a chance to eat one (or 1/2 one - they are bigger than the ones I got from Nutrionalist. They are about 4 ounces more; but, with the same calories and more protein. I did not want to buy the powder because any time I try to 'mix or blend it' it always has a gritted taste to me.
By the way - what exactly is the 'green room'' you are always talking about?
Where did you get your hula hoop? One bought at any store will be too light and small to ever stay up on an adult. I made mine out of 5 feet of 3/4th inch diameter black sprinkler tubing with one double ended (male) connection, and duct tape to cover. I put about 1/2 cup of water down into the tube, connect the ends together, then wrap it in duct tape. I use the bright colored or patterned duct tape. You should wrap it twice. Don't worry that the duct tape is wrinkled, that is just the way it will be. It'll be hard to keep up at first; but, with practice you will be able to do it with pretty good results. Warning: It WILL bruise your sides ... don't be surprised. Lay it flat when you are finished with it so it won't get lopsided.
We're having warm weather and dry! We're hoping that they can cut the trees before we lose too many more. I need to get my butt up and finish straightening the house.
Chow!
