I see her again next week and I'm not even sure I want to agree to more needles, let alone electrified ones! Her manual ministrations leave more bruises but I can walk better after them...

@7lenny7 I guess I could do that... Or tell the owner to have a look at the way the data is pulled from OSM. There are a lot of things in there that I can't believe are marked as streets on OSM. As I said, rivers, country borders, shops, ...
If I go through the list, the first "real" street for my village is on page 4
On some pages of the list there are hardly any streets at all
And since I live in an area with many small villages, I would have to clean up around ten of them. I guess I'm just too lazy to fix all that right now
Maybe I'll just look at the "Livetime map" zoomed into my current region to identify if there are large spots in my area that I'm somehow missing.

Well that is very nice to hear. Thank you. I won’t lie, I do have days where I feel pretty beat up physically, mentally and emotionally. I’ve read stories where people (worse than i), have risen from ashes. I figure, “why not try that”... it’s gotta get me some where better. Or I’m just too dum to know when to give in...6 -

Hey Vincent & everyone else in the thread - I just want to quickly poke my head in and let you all know that I’m aware of the problem & really want to get it fixed. I don’t have a ton of time right now to get into all the details and decisions that got CityStrides here, but I can at least start to explain…
Yeah, I’m in a tough situation on this one. The (somewhat) shortened version of the situation is that OSM doesn’t have perfect data, so I opted to take in more than I needed with the intention of trimming out the excess. I added ‘flag for review’ buttons on each street, kind of taking a cue from Foursquare & how their user base helps manage the site’s data (or at least they used to, by giving certain ‘super users’ more access to the moderation system).
So I’ve got the start of a moderation system, but I haven’t really been able to follow through on that completely - adding different levels of access to certain users, or automatically removing streets that are flagged a certain number of times, or something else…
If I only import ‘highway’ tags 1, I lose out on things that are not tagged completely. In some areas, this would make my import useless.
If I import everything (like I am) and sort things out within CityStrides, then I start with a mess and need to clean things up. That’s where I am now.
Gotta run for now, but I’ll be back when I’ve got some more time for more explanation. If anyone has any more questions/suggestions, please share them - I’ll reply everywhere I can!

I hope the solution doesn't end up "automatically removing streets that are flagged a certain number of times", I don't think there are that many number of users from my region.
I'm not sure I want to mark all the non-streets as complete, that would make the "percentage run" wrong in the other direction. If we have 100 streets, I ran 80 of them, and then mark the 150 additional non-streets as complete, I have 92% shown as finished instead of the true 80%. Maybe I could for each village make a list and come up with a conversion factor of "1 street in village X completed = mark 3.7 other features as complete"?
No, as I said, I think I'll just look at the map for now.
My village: everything on the lower half that I didn't run yet is either "nope, no way I'm running on a busy major road on the stretches were it doesn't even have a shoulder" or private/no access. But on the top right I can see a few white routes that might be run-able, so I have something to investigate this week ^^1 -

Morning all. Woke up with sore muscles, i think probably from my fall yesterday, all that jarring perhaps. So decided a rest and recovery day is in order. I'll go for a walk at lunchtime but no run today. So currently snuggling on the couch with kitty!
Who knows about Mizuno shoes? I won a $50 voucher in this challenge (woo hoo) so am thinking of a second pair of shoes. I need a wide stability shoe. Also I read they are small fitting so should go a half size up? I usually wear asics gel kayano 25s in 9.5D4 -
And on another note, we've made a pretty radical decision to sell up and move. We are going to list the house at the end of the month, see how long it takes to sell, and then I'll get a job IN A CITY!!! I love my current job and I enjoy living where we are, but we are so limited. My eldest is about to turn 5, and schooling, while ok, is a consideration. There is also not a lot for the kids to do. Not that I want to load them up, but having a variety would be nice. And I dream of all the running events I could do. And ease of buying shoes!! Lol.
So I'm feeling guilty at work when they talk about including me in future projects as it doesn't look like I'll be around. I'm sad about the idea of leaving, though after 6 years I've grown as much as I'm going to. I'm excited about the idea of learning new things - I would immediately be learning CT in the hospital that I'd be working in which is something I've always wanted to do, but cannot do where I am. I already spoke with the hospital and they are desperate for staff so it sounds like I'd walk into a job. Just need the house to sell.14 -

Thanks @scott6522 ( mfp is being way weird).... and @Avidkeo Sounds like an amazing opportunity. You don’t want to find yourself in the same job with limited skills within say 15 years of retirement only to find yourself in a hostile work environment with limited options.... not that I’d know what that’d be like... 🤔7

My issue with dry needling is that there’s no scientific support for it, despite multiple studies. If you aren’t seeing definite benefits due to placebo effect, it seems to me it’s an infection risk with zero potential benefit.7 -

I know what you mean there. I think one of the other pushes for me is that we have some new managers that have come in the last 3 months. Definitely needed, but they are not my managers, and they feel they can give me projects. I am in an odd position where I work full time in a situation where there is only really part time work. But the Dr's want a radiographer here as much as possible during the day to image patients immediately, making it a full time role. So I do other work in my downtime, like reports and audits, that sort of thing. I'm happy doing those as long as they are jobs I WANT to do (queue privileged position). One of these new managers is trying to get me involved in other projects that I have no interest in, I am not qualified to do and there are already people here that would be able to do the job. I can kinda can see a big push coming to give me more work "because I'm here" and I don't feel comfortable with that. My patients have to come first, and I don't want to get stressed out with work I don't want to do. I'm a Radiographer, not an accountant or inventor. There is a reason I studied radiography.

I had dry needling done with a local pt i trust. It helped. I think the infection risk is low, i was also concerned about it. They do use sterile needles and sterilize the skin before and after. Least mine did.1 -

The weather this week is so nice!! It’s that super brief window in Houston where it is still a bit chilly at night and just perfect during the day. I feel like we get maybe 3-4 weeks of this all year, and I love every day of it. Went out for a short run today after work. Enjoyed the sun and the spring.
I got the time off I needed to be able to do the HM I picked for later this year so I registered for that yesterday and a local 10 miler that is well positioned in my training plan. I’m hoping to come in closer to, or maybe even under an hour at my race this weekend to help with my corral placement. And my husband signed up for the HM too! He is just starting back running and it has been maybe a run or 2 a week for him over the last few weeks. I told him I will leave him in the dust if he doesn’t train for this HM! And he has to find a local race that he can use to get a faster corral if he wants to start together, because I am not going back to the end just to start with him. He says he will. I guess we will see.

A lovely 52 degree day so finally got myself outside for a run - because I think it's heading back to winter over the next few days. My pace was much better than it has been for my treadmill runs lately, so getting outside definitely helps. I just think I've maxed out on the number of cold runs I can do for the season.
After my run, I went to yoga and was happy to accomplish a forearm stand - at least using the wall. Maybe without the wall for second.
@lporter229, interesting about the stimulation. And I thought there was at least moderate evidence for short-term benefits of dry needling although I haven't done more than a cursory look at the literature.
Good luck to you and @MobyCarp in the weeks leading up to Boston. Hoping you stay healthy and feel well trained, rested, recovered and ready to go.
@Avidkeo good luck with your big move. Hope your house sells quickly and all the job things work out.

Used to it, lived there years ago, and hubbys family are there. Anyway isnt everywhere colder than the "winterless far north" hahaha. and I love how we look at a place based on the running. Ill definitely get good at hills running! though the foreshore is a great place to run, and they have an excellent park run group going.4 -
7.58 miles, 2nd run after getting back after almost 2 weeks off. Still not totally healed, but coming back. Garmin even upgraded my estimated VO2 Max, which is good because it had fallen really low. I still have a long ways to go, and I need more good runs like this to get there as quickly as possible.

Real Goals: Train well toward Boston. Cut back before St. Patrick’s Day weekend, run the 8K hard, use the half as a training race. Remain uninjured, even if it means cutting back on planned mileage.
Today's notes – Podiatrist visit this afternoon, so running got deferred till after 6 PM. And there was daylight till 7:30! Woohoo! Not a very noteworthy run today. Porch thermometer said 53° F when I started, so I went out in shorts and a tee. Felt a little cold going into the wind (which wasn't really all that strong), and regretted having bare hands instead of light glove. When I got home, the porch thermometer was down to 45°F. Well, that's gloves and long sleeve tech shirt weather.
Possibly because I felt chilly, my pace accelerated from easy to MP during the run. I didn't worry too much about it as long as my heart rate stayed below 130, which it mostly did until I hit the hills in the second half of the run. Even there, the HR only got up to the low 140s, briefly. Average for the entire run was something like 126. So the HR data says I ran easy, even though there were 3 or 4 miles that the pace said MP. *shrug* Still healthy, will probably do some easy speed work tomorrow.

Walked the dogs this morning before work, then went 9.5 miles on the bike after work. Also did 3 sets of 15 reps eccentric heel drops... both straight and bent leg... three times throughout the day (270 total).5

5.6 miles today - was supposed to be 10k but turned too soon and ended up about a half mile short.
My husband has a sore throat and runny nose. He considered skipping but decided at the last minute to run with me as long as I promised to keep it easy, which wasn’t a problem since I lifted heavy yesterday and my legs still feel tired from Monday’s long run. Today was planned to be hill work, so what we ended up doing was a preview of the course for the 10k we’re looking at in April, the Big BBQ at Shelby Farms, which has a half, 10k, and 5k option. The 10k course is basically the same path we run when we do hills anyway, only backwards, which means a lot of fairly steep downhills and long gradual climbs. He walked a couple of the hills while I challenged them then ran back down to him. All things considered he did really well - our usual easy is a shade under 10 minute mile pace and today was about 10:30 despite his hacking cough, sinus headache, and general malaise. We even managed to run it in at a little faster pace for the final split. I’m looking forward to this race which will be my first 10k that’s not a trail race, and also cover the same ground as the 5k course which I PR’d on in November.
We turned short because the map on my phone is based on the old configuration of the lake, which has been completely redone and the road which used to cross it taken out. Very confused until we compared maps later!
Weather was grismal, drizzle and sharp wind, but other than that not a bad run. We saw a huge herd of deer crossing the trail in front of us, and the male bison were bonking heads together in celebration of springtime.6
