Day 4 of logging. Skipped the gym this morning, late night that wasn't entirely my fault but couldn't be helped. I did clean up my kitchen and the dining table this morning so that felt good, won't be getting home to a mess. Things have been going well, food wise, but other than the first day, the scale hasn't budged. I'm hoping that a few days off from the gym will help. Many comments I wanted to make but am at work and on my phone, so much harder to type!! lol Congrats to those who have had successful medical "stuff", hope everyone stays on the path to recovery!

Flea – I would definitely had more than a shot of tequila before going over that bridge. Great pictures, thanks for sharing
Katla – don’t son and DIL have temporary plates on their “new” vehicle so that it can be driven?
Went to the water class today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Bodyflow DVD (yoga)
Question for anyone: what is the difference between cooking something in the air fryer and cooking it in a convection oven? Does anyone on here use the convection? What is the advantage? My oven has a convection feature that I really don’t use. For Christmas Jess used it. To me, it seemed that the rolls were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. As I recall, this is basically how it was when I used an air fryer. What has people’s experience been using the convection feature.
Another question: does anyone have supplemental dental insurance? Is it worth it? How much do they pay for dental work?
Has anybody been watching Jeopardy where it’s the clash between Brad (is that his name) Ken and James? What do you think?
Lisa AR – great that the IF backwards is working for you! Everyone’s different…..
KJ – what sweeties! Can you imagine if they got together with Athena???? Look out world! Even IF the pics were in spoilers, I would definitely look see
Since I go for my colonoscopy Thursday and so have to start the prep after lunch on Tuesday, I’m making more yogurt for lunch Tuesday. I plan to have a lunch high in protein.
Got all the outside Christmas decorations put away. Brought the totes in the house. Now to get the decorations down in the house.
After exercise went to the Salvation Army, didn’t get anything, then to WalMart then the soup kitchen. Miss Sourpuss wasn’t there. I got there early and helped put butter on the grilled ham & cheese sandwiches they were having. Chocolate cake for dessert.
I’ll probably make a chocolate cake for later in the week for Vince and I’ll just put it in the freezer
SuziQ – fabulous arrangements. Thanks for sharing

Snow again this morning but I went to the YM anyway. By the time I got 1/2 way there no snow, just rain. I went to chair yoga then to the bank and bought groceries. Doing well on food since the first of the year.
KJ - darling pictures of those handsome boys.

Michele, I have watched Jeopardy almost every day since I got a VCR in 1985. I remember Brad, Ken, and James from watching them on their games and tournaments. I read Ken's book about his experience on Jeopardy. I love this tournament (haven't watched last night's show yet) Ken is my favourite.1

Glad it is Friday evening. Kept busy at work today. Had hoped to get out around 4, but a couple of things came up that needed my attention. Got to gym around 5. Got in good session with stretches, weights and finished off with 30 minutes on treadmill.
Glad to say biggest trauma of the day was discovering I was out of toilet paper after I had my pjs on. Luckily, there was a role in the basement bath (which is almost never used) so didn't have to get dressed and run off to store.
Heading off to a good night's rest. Hope everyone's weekend is off to a good start.

Getting ready for bed but touching base.
@LisaInAR years ago I was on a low dose antibiotic for a year for the same issue. It helped immensely! I went from one uti a month to ......I think I have had 2 in the past 20 years. Amazing! Especially since I am now allergic to sulfa drugs. Now if they could do the same for yeast infections! I hope you get to feeling better soon.
My daughter made it home safely. That was the best part of my day. My friend's daughter is back in hospital. I am concerned. Came home to a jury summons and a cancellation notice for insurance which I never received a an invoice for....paid it online to reinstate. Will call them on Monday. I put it in my planner. Also putting in planner to contact them around the first of December thisvyearvto avoid this issue again! Then I couldn't get printer to work. Finally went to download new drivers and lost internet. Oh, and I think yeast infection back.....crying....
Tomorrow is a new day. Sleep will hopefully help start it off better.

Ginny Ohio - that’s my biggest fear I stockpile it out of fear of running out! Lol fear comes from it happening before while living in a small town where nothing was open until morning the nearest other town was an hour drive! Then an hour drive home in the dark with deer littering the road in herds.

Heather: Great day for you & DH. He had a good osteopath appointment and later took the opportunity to judge your soup absolutely delicious. Smart man.
Lisa: I’ve taken Wellbutrin AKA buproprion for many years. It has been a good medicine for me and I have been happier & healthier because of it. I hope it works as well for you.
Michele: The new Oregon license plates are on DS and DDIL's car now. I assume they used the plates the car came with when they bought it until the Oregon plates arrived. Our son’s official “home address” has been our address since he joined the military. He is an Oregon voter.
I had a delightful yoga class this morning. Before yoga I burned 100 calories on a recumbent bike in the machine room at the gym, and then went downstairs to yoga. The class was taught by a favorite teacher and I enjoyed myself.

Bananandoranges "get the boot ", is just like having someone kick ya in the keester ta get them back on track. Its just an expression on here. If someone has had a day just not sticking to their plan, we'll type, " ah Pip get yer boot out". No worries, its all said in looking and caring jest.💖

Cool, windy day.
Feeling tired and achy ... probably from the vaccination.
Decided not to exercise today.
Instead, I've spent most of the day working on some of my cycling club stuff. One of the accomplishments of the day is a newsletter!
This weekend I've also gone from a dull, mousy, salt & pepper look to a dark, dark brown and red combo.

"Todo"s and "done"Done: BB&B,
Bonus: veg prep, 20 min dog stroll down and up drive.
to do: invest 10 mins decluttering office, carryover invest 10 mins MBR & Guest, Dust LR, start taking tree down, Patient Hist form to Dermatologist (also toward med history 20/20), comb Tumble, 5 mins engagement training Tumble and Shadow, call Carolyn, listen to SuziQ recommended podcast on habits https://www.npr.org/transcripts/787160734
BB&B wipes me out, but seized the moment before the big storm to walk the dogs a little. Prepped the dip and veggies for this afternoon’s matinee with the girls, then woof! Had to take a nap. Slept heavily for 40 mins. Gals were watching “Finding Nemo” which two of us had never seen. Amazingly rich and deep animation, and almost fell off my chair at the sharks' 12 step meeting and intervention.
Skipped the 10 mins cleanup, as wanted to quick vac (who me???) but don’t like to run vacuum when Joe’s in the house, grates on both our nerves. He’ll go to town tomorrow morning, so I can make up time them.
Heather DH’s “Delighted”? Hope that means his back got some relief!.
Lisa relieved for the good info and rXs. Hope the ferritin test points to a solution. Love the “wait a minute…” just the right touch!
Kylia prayers both for your daughter and your friend’s daughter.
KJ couldn’t me much cuter, unless you interspersed some Olivia and Athena Rose pics…
Flea your post touched me. Brave of you to speak of your fear/worry. I leave many of mine unsaid, afraid to give them substance by putting them out there… BUT… doing so is the first step in facing them down. Good on you for doing your research, knowledge is power to combat fear. Finally, I try to remember that I was me before all the lovely changes life brings those of us lucky enough to live long enough… and hope I’ll be “me” afterwards too… ;} ((hugs))

@bananasandoranges Get the boot out is just a phrase used to get us back on track. I don't know the origin, but Pip never seems to lack the motivation to get moving! It is like your Mom saying clean your room or I will kick your bottom. Please don't go anywhere else. We love the women on our thread!

Barbara love your phrase "Pay Attention!" Sometimes when I'm joking with my students i'll Say "Two words people: Focus!!!" this is usually followed by a couple of beats of thinking and then someone will say quietly, that's only one word.... love it!!!
Amber When Pip gets her boot out, that means she's encouraging us to straighten up and get back on track, always said with love and encouragement.
Had my hair cut and colored then off to a marathon of school concerts. My former student teacher now has the high school director job, and she gave me a shout out, (made me feel old..cough cough "experienced") The baton truly is being passed, I was reflective and nostalgic and a little sad to be the "Last of the Mohican" from the old guard of teachers, I'm now officially surrounded by 20 somethings. This is energizing and exhausting all at the same time.
Well my streak continues, heading to the treadmill now before a marathon shopping trip to stock up for Rachel's last semester at college. She'll be home for one more week (getting in lots of coffee talk, binge watching "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" and doc/dds appointments).
Have a good Saturday everyone.

Barbara - it's not so much the pain is better, but the osteopath obviously had a good bedside manner and gave him hope. He was also complimentary about his fitness level and didn't treat him like an idiot. He was catastrophizing about getting old. The osteopath gave him some stretching exercises to do which might help. The pain is worse in the middle of the night. He won't listen to me about taking mild painkillers as a preventative.
My new vacuum cleaner has just been delivered. The one I bought last year for my new cleaner has lost its suction. It was really, really cheap, so not much loss. I've got a slightly more expensive one this time, but all the reviews say that these cheap machines don't last long. The cleaner I had then was part of the company that probably robbed my DDIL of her jewellery, passports and X box and legged it back to Brazil. I had hidden anything of value, including spare keys, and was always in the house. Today a new cleaner is coming to have a look at our house. She is my DDIL's current cleaner and so far, so good. I only need two hours once every two weeks as we are very clean and tidy. No pets. The house hasn't been properly deep cleaned since September when the last cleaner left. I've just tickled the surface to make it look ok. She might need an extra hour the first time to get into the corners!
I know she is very busy, so I hope she will take me on. I don't mind cleaning, but I hate having to cajole DH into doing it with me. But I am NOT doing it on my own, no way. If I have a cleaner it saves me all the stress of having to find a mutual time to do it.
DH is very good at doing his share of general house responsibility. He shops, washes up, cleans the kitchen, deals with the trash , mows the grass, cooks the fruit for dessert, so I am not complaining. It's just I have to ask him to do general housework and, for not much money, basically an hour a week, I can get it all done, no hassle.
One good thing is that this house stays dust free for ages. It must be the sea air. We have some of the least polluted air in the country. When we lived in the countryside the dust was terrible and the house had loads of spiders inside and out. Flies everywhere. Here I can actually leave the door open in the summer!

Julie - good for you asking clarification on what expressions mean. I have found when dealing with on-line communities, you get so many people from different countries and different cultures within a given country, it is sometimes tough to figure out exactly what is meant. I've seen people get in huge fights because they didn't bother to ask for clarification. I find at work staff will have such problems and if they would just ask another to explain what they meant, there is no need for disagreement.5

Morning all...
I really hate it when the scale determines my mood, largely because over the past year, it's not been my friend. But
somehow, in the last five days, I've lost five pounds merely by not eating dinner. I started the week on Monday at 211, and was at 206 this morning. So, apparently intermittent fasting (IF) works for me, I just had to figure out when the fasting period is that's effective... and for me it's from 2 or 3 p.m. to 7 or 8 a.m., so about 17-7, or 18-6. Naturally, I might add. Not fighting with it, just letting it happen.
There's one problem with it, of course: All of this could be bogus. My body is just beginning to come out of the trauma of the last couple months (see previous post spoiler) and I'm shedding water weight, as my ankles are almost to normal now and not swelly for the first time in weeks so this could all just be that. We'll see if it continues.
What's interesting to me is that a couple of the pieces I read said that IF puts you into ketosis just as surely as the keto diet -so I'm going to try out my keto strips and see if I wake up in ketosis in the morning. I have my doubts, as I've eaten exactly what I wanted to in the last five days, and it's basically been bagels, cheese and butter.
What's interesting to me at the more macro level is that the big diet companies have zero idea what to do with this, because there is nothing they can make money on about it, as it's the absence of eating. So, they're all saying "combined with IF, our diet works best!" Hilarious.
Katla - thank you for the word on Wellbutrin. I've read the literature, and I know it doesn't work for everyone necessarily, and that there will be an adjustment period. However, a number of folks noted they've used it quite successfully, and quite long-term--it appears to short-circuit the need to fulfill the craving/addiction, apparently. A friend used it some years back to quit smoking. If nothing else, I'm hoping it will help me break my addiction to the scale and its tyranny over my moods.
Happy Saturday all, whether past, present or future,
Love,
Lisa in AR

Ginny - I would have had a stroke. My hub teases me about my hoarding of toilet paper. I ALWAYS have at least one multi pack in the house.......typically I have 3 or 4 but if I see we are down to the last one, I get a little nervous . I come by it honestly, my Dad always had a bunch too. I may have told this story before, but when my Dad died, one of my best friends brought over paper goods, including toilet paper, to have for all the people that would be stopping in. I literally laughed out loud and led her to the back room of his house and showed her his stash.....I convinced her to take her TP home and use it. It was a good laugh when we needed one. We still laugh about it.
