Yes, the Aetna plan is good only at dentists who accept it, but it's significant. So, you'd need to call your dentist to ask if they accept it AND call the plan and confirm with them. I had a full consultation, full xrays, and a cleaning and it was half what I would have paid full price about about 30% cheaper than with insurance.

We took the tarp off the firewood pile this afternoon and brought wood into the house and stacked some in the wagon in the breezeway in anticipation of rain, snow, and way below freezing temperatures. We have a great furnace/heat pump but the wood stove is fun and could be necessary if there is a power outage.
Jake's new computer came yesterday and he is having a blast learning to use it. He discovered a few features on Windows 10 that I didn't know about. His computer will allow him to play games and he's deciding what games he wants to play. I was able to tear him away from the computer long enough to watch the third session of the GOAT Jeopardy Championship. It was a great show and we knew lots of answers (and didn't know a lot more).

Wonderful that you've had the opportunity to try so many languages! In Texas (like southern California) we often get the chance to listen to people speaking Spanish or jump right in an test our conversation skills but I'm not comfortable yet.
Running! Congrats! Yes stay away from those measly colds ... I had one in Nov-Dec for 3-4 weeks and it was miserable (even with meds from the doc).
Reading through the last few days of posts trying to catch up. Looks like there are many here that have tackled a different language. I'm impressed with those that disclosed knowing many! I'm in awe.

Okie-I usually have tp on hand. Typically just me in the house, but I will pick up a new stash when I put the next to the last roll on. In all the business getting ready to go to Arizona for Christmas, I overlooked it. Went to store first thing this am!
Very busy today. Put my word for the year-finish-into action. Instead of leaving one thing to move on to another, finished up each task before moving on to the next. Got a lot accomplished, including treadmill and stretches.
One of my items finished today was the drawers that go under the bed my kids got me. As I was looking at the directions-the pictures that tell you want you need to put things together-I noticed the picture clearly showed two men needed. I couldn't help but laugh. This 65 year old put the bed and drawers together with no help. I found myself wonder if that meant it takes two men to equal one woman?! I guess I just have a sick sense of humor but I am glad I am in good enough shape to handle most things around here that I want done.
Time for tea and going to watch second half of football game in bed.

@Snowflake1968 … Tracey, welcome back! Nice to see my Edmonton connection back here again. 😊
@christinarayburn3 … another Canadian! Yay! I was born in Canada and lived there for the first 40-ish years of my life. I am still diligently dyeing my hair … not ready to “salt & pepper” yet.
@spygirl2017 … Caroline, are you thinking of getting into trail running too? I did a bit of it in late 2018 and enjoyed it.
@MsGetnSexyBack … is there a particular exercise you like doing? And then, is there a type of goal within that exercise? Like for example, in the cycling world, there are “Centuries – 100 miles in one day”, and in the running world there are half marathons and marathons, etc. I find that type of thing motivating.
@buzzcogs … what are one or two good habits you’d like to start?
@2020goLizgo … with your treadmill workouts, are you training for something or just keeping fit?
@knitski2002 … do you ski as well as your husband? Cross country or downhill?
@ple79 … Pam, keep posting. You’ve successfully done it a few times now.
@jsophiethomas … competitive sailing or touring sailing? If you try cycling, be sure to get the bicycle set up properly for you otherwise it could be painful.
@carolpa1 … what are some of your favourite activities? What keeps you busy and away from food? 😊
@FunUsername … what a fun username! Yes, take care of yourself. That’s a good idea.

Lilylady3k wrote: »@Lilylady3k … what kind of cycling do you like? Learning Spanish is a great goal. If you’ve ever learned Latin or French, Spanish comes relatively naturally. I have taken one Spanish course and didn’t have any trouble with it because it reminded me of French, but easier than French. I see you’re teaching English … I was actually pursuing options to teach English overseas when all of a sudden I was taking my Bachelor of Education. Part of me would still like to teach English somewhere.
I took French in HS many moons ago. I'm picking up Spanish but it would be much better if I could immerse myself or at least practice talking more.
Teaching English has been fun! All the adults I'm teaching are well educated just moved here for family or other reasons. At the church we have foundation + 4 levels. I'm teaching level 2 where they know vocabulary but need practice talking and getting the verbs, grammar, contractions right. I'm in no way an English teacher or ever been in education but the program materials (teacher, student, activity books) are terrific. It gives me an alternative plan ... learning to teach English ... I might be able to travel and teach in one of the programs that my friends have pursued in Europe. I recommend it for a volunteer job or to pay for expenses when wanting to travel abroad since they house you, feed you and pay you!
My mother has an indoor recumbent too.
My husband and I met cycling, so it's an important part of our lives. We've got trainer bicycles and use Zwift when we ride inside, and we cycle outside when we can.
It's possible one day I might get into teaching English too.

I have tried the 15 minutes of this, 15 minutes of that method and occasionally it works if I don't have much to do in each category, but I've found that if I start working on something and finish it, that works a lot better for me ... and gives me a sense of satisfaction when I finish.
The newsletter I worked on yesterday was like that. I just kept plugging away at it all day yesterday, learned more about the Wordpress program my cycling club uses, and got it done! If I had done it in bits and pieces I think I would have spent more time figuring out where I left off than actually doing the work.
So I tend to plan things in blocks now ... either 2-hour blocks or whole evening/day blocks.
Well done on finishing the bed!!

In the Whole Body Microbiome the importance of taking care of your teeth is discussed. It also discussed the effect of your gut on the health of your teeth.
Currently I am getting my teeth cleaned four times a year. I do not have dental insurance I use the money from my HCRA to cover the extra cost. I am fortunate in that I have little decay and still have all my teeth except for my wisdom teeth. My problem is saying on top of gum disease. I also have no problems with saliva. Dry mouth can be a factor in tooth decay. As we age saliva can become less so medication also effect saliva production. I have had two crowns and no root canals.
My dental health has vastly improved since I have gotten these extra cleanings. Other health problems can develop if your mouth is not healthy. For me the extra care is my way of being proactive for my health.

Today we have to pay the balance on our cruise to Norway in April. The money I retrieved from deep savings takes six days to appear in our joint account and, unfortunately, won't be there until tomorrow. DH is doing something with his money to enable me to pay it. Yesterday it didn't work, so I hope it will today.
I also hope to unpack the mirror we ordered to go above the fireplace. It has been sitting in the hall in a big box for ages. Sometimes I get really anxious about doing things. I'm scared I won't like it, or it won't fit, or it'll be difficult to put up, or, or, or......
I still haven't got my website up and running. Barbie - I wish I had Jake's attitude! New technology terrifies me!

Also having a cup of coffee and checking in with you all! Allie I always get anxious about packing for a trip, but take Trudy's advice, pack less, wear things more than once (nobody will notice, trust me) and yes, you can always pick something up if you need to. I'm so excited for you taking this trip, wowza!
Barbie my MIL is super excited about the Jeopardy tournament, I think we're all gonna watch together this week.
Happy to be doing a lot of food prep today, oatmeal, applesauce and red lentil soup for the week of breakfast, snacks and lunch. For dinner we are going to try a new recipe book to prepare Thai food this week, Tom Kha soup (coconut milk soup with chicken) and vegetable curry stir fry, yum. Also on the menu this week Penne Ala Vodka - Rachel's favorite before she leaves for school.

Hello one and all.
I have a lot of catching up to do with everyone and will post again today. The Friday night flower arranging class was fun and I learned a couple of new techniques such a "leaf manipulation" (almost sounds a little kinky - lol). I still do not see myself becoming a "designer". I think that either comes naturally or through experience and time. But, this would be a fun way to create an income stream for retirement.

Hi there.... never posted here before... I have been making comments on my own MFP but would like motivation from the community... thanks in advance9

Machka - your hair shade and length is lovely. It sounds like a lot of us are going darker. I took mine back to my original shade, a medium brown with caramel tones, and am more pleased with it than I thought I'd be. Got sick of the blonde. Sorry the periods have re-started.
SuziQ - the color may be just what's showing on my monitor, but the flowers are the exact shade as my first wedding bouquet--the design is beautiful. I tend to lean to more wildflower, less control in my own arrangements, but doesn't mean I can't see the beauty in a different design.
Rebecca - Athena is such a breath of air and light. Love her pics!
The weight loss continues - with the only change, literally, being the change in when I'm eating (only eating between 8 or 9 a.m. and 3 or 4 p.m. - ish). Only a half pound since yesterday, but still seeing the scale change downward, and pleased about that.
Corey and I are heading to Kansas on Friday to see the new grand, visit the daughter, son-in-law and the other grands. We'll stay the night (in a hotel) Friday and Saturday and head back to Arkansas early Sunday morning, should be home by noon or so. Not looking forward to the trip, but am looking forward to seeing my family.
And... my son-in-law did EXACTLY to his mother what I feared he'd do to me and dropped the ball python in her lap without warning. I told my daughter that was what I figured he'd do to me, and the direct quote is, "Oh no, he's much more scared of you than he is of his mom." Hopefully that's correct. I'm fine with it, if it keeps me snake free.
Time to go swap the laundry over...
Love y'all!

Hello again lovely ladies.
I am enjoying finally getting back to some normalcy after the holidays and corporate event. Breakfasts and lunches will be planned and packed up today and leaning towards chili for dinners. Regular exercise routine is getting back on track too.
Pip – Hopefully you’re back on the mend and getting back in to your routine. Simply admire your consistency. I am only 10 miles from work and have considered riding a bike there, but with office dress it’s tough. Especially with the South Florida temperatures and humidity. My ideal job 1-2 miles away from home so I can walk. I have looked but the salaries and the right position have not yet materialized.
Heather – I am so happy DH is happy with the osteopath and am hoping he is starting the therapeutic exercises. My insurance does cover osteopaths but there are not many on the plan within my area. I either have to pay out of pocket or go the traditional route.
Michele – According to the Silver Sneakers site you would be able to attend any Silver Sneaker participating site for classes. https://www.silversneakers.com/learn/gym-fitness/ I would certainly go back to whomever signed you up and get some clarification. Some of the gyms here restrict Silver Sneakers to Silver Sneaker classes only.
Meg – I have been looking for kickboxing classes here and most have closed (too many LA and 24-Hour Fitness locations to compete against). I think it would be a great stress reliever and sounds like fun.
NYKaren – Great strength walking by those chocolates and anything else left in the breakroom. I try to tell myself those items are someone else’s leftovers and I would certainly not eat off of a stranger’s plate (of course if I had no means I would). Yes, I imagine if I had the same experience as DGS I would not like bananas either. TG I did not as they are one of my favorite fruits and eat them as a meal with peanut butter – yum!
Lisa – I remember those beautiful pics from December. You should be taking more selfies! So sorry about the health issues and the grant results. I love how you delivered the news to your team. They must love you there! Thank you for sharing. I have hemorrhoids which I am reluctant to do anything about because some experience fissures which I am extremely worried about. I know it’s irrational and I must get to a “bottom” doctor which is on my to-do list. I hope the Wellbutrin helps. I have heard from many how much better they feel. For me, not so much. I used it in an attempt to quit smoking when it was called Zyban and did not have a good reaction. It made me an emotional mess. Enjoy meeting your new grand! I think if you immediately went to DSIL and asked to see the snake it would take the air out of his sails. But, I do not have a fear of them, if they are pets. I also prefer a more natural look when it comes to flowers, but have been taking the classes outside of my comfort zone. The abstract/modern designs require more precision and different “eye”.
Machka – Hope you’re recovering from the vaccine. I had chicken pox at crib age and a mild case of shingles at the age of 50. The doctor stated since I had shingles I really do not have to worry about the vaccine as my body will have enough antibodies now to fend it off. I certainly need to get a MMR booster because I may have been in the “group” that did not get the most effective vaccine when I was a child. Love the new hair color!
Flea – Thank you for sharing your Christmas trip and pictures with us. Like many I do not think I would be very comfortable going over the suspended bridge. I would probably have had a heart attack! Also hoping you made a dermo appointment to see about the hair loss subject.
Lanette – Thank you! Can you believe the entire outfit (minus shoes as they were a splurge item two years ago) cost me less than $40? And, all of the pieces are separates so I can wear with other items in my closet. The last time I dropped to 150 pounds friends were starting to ask me to eat. This was after I lost DH and was not due to a healthy routine. I will see how I look and feel at goal (155). During the last two rounds I found it was a nice weight and was easy to maintain at our height.
Sue – Your Christmas cactus is amazing. Mine never bloomed this year. They typically do better outside here in FL, but tend to bloom in February.
Tracey – I am so happy my online name brings fond memories of your grandmother. SuziQ is something mom called me up until she passed. When I say it in my head it’s one of the things that brings her voice back to me.
KJ – Miquel and Joaquin are beautiful.
Rebecca – Love the pics of Athena. And, it seems Aurora knows exactly where to wait for a snack – love those puppy dog eyes.
Margaret – I was fortunate to find out in my early 30s how important dental health is to the overall body. Like you I have two caps, but have also had one root canal (15 years ago). TG I was sensitive to my dental health because I felt something weird in my mouth on Saturday and had the root canal on Monday (no pain, just a weird little bump). At one point I had to have four cleanings a year and am now down to two. Although the periodontist has suggested I may want to start getting three per year in my near future.
Allie – I used to over pack. Now I wait until the day before and find I take a lot less and still do not use everything. And, there are always stores and the sink!
taniwha836 – Welcome. You have certainly found the right group of women for motivation and support.
Meals – General – It’s interesting how everyone is finding the best way of managing their new and improved lifestyles. During the work week I eat three mini-meals with two to three light snacks. On the weekend anything goes. Restricting meal times for me just does not work and I need flexibility in both the timing and food choices.
Languages – I so admire those who not only seek to learn but also master other languages. I have had German CDs (yes, CDs) sitting around for more than a decade with little to no use. I keep telling myself one day……
Convection Oven – I use it almost exclusively and find I do not have to adjust times or temperatures too much. The only time I do not use it is when I am baking cakes because they tend to slant in the direction of the air flow. This is due mostly to where I can place the racks and just find the traditional oven feature is best for baking.
Toilet Paper – I can walk to the grocery store so it’s not a big worry for me except during hurricane season. I do stock up on all non-perishable goods in May so I have storm supplies.
Yeast – I used to suffer horribly from those pesky infections when I first moved to FL. Of course I worked for a company that “required” pantyhose. First investment was cotton only for panties (to this day) and thigh-highs. I found making sure I kept airflow worked best along with cranberry juice and making sure I was regularly eating yogurt.
Whew – I think I am caught up.
Hugs to all and prayers to those in need.

Well, it seems my 36-year old self lost a little bit more than my not so young self for the past few weeks. Not too disappointed given the time of year. I feel like I am still keeping up with her. But must keep my self in check and not get too cheeky. I had some Rocky Road ice cream yesterday as my lunch and dinner (oh, so bad, but oh so good). I ate so much I will certainly not be eating it any time in the near future! And, with meal planning back on track and no junk in the house I should be good for the next few weeks.

Rebecca- Time to invest time in teething toys y baby teething aids. Heather, setting up a website is way beyond our comfort level. When Jake chose his new computer, I discouraged him from getting Apple because we have had PC's for years. I told him that I wouldn't be able to help him if he got an Apple and he took me seriously.

Quick update. My oldest daughter arrived in OK around midnight last night. My sis, her husband, their married kids and teenaged grandkids went and helped her move her furniture etc. to storage there in CO. Once she is settled here in her own place, we'll move it here to OK. She is still very depressed/stressed. I'm praying things get better for her now.
The stress of my daughter's situation is wearing on me. I need to find my inner peace.
Love you my friends
